I signed up for CarShare a few months ago after being told that I would receive my "welcome package" with my key fob (and therefore be on the road) in 4 days. It took WEEKS to receive this welcome package, at which point I no longer had any need for the service as I had to make alternative transportation arrangements.
I contacted the people at CarShare Atlantic for a refund, as they had not provided me the service I had paid for in the timeframe I had required it, and it took them three weeks to respond to me. This, in my opinion, is an unacceptable length of time for a response from any reputable, legitimate business. At this point they told me via email that my account was cancelled and I was to return my key fob - notice no mention of a refund. I contacted them by telephone for clarification as to whether I would receive my refund, and after waiting on hold for someone to answer for 15 minutes, they told me that I would not receive any refund. I was told by the representative that my only other option was to withdraw my cancellation request, which I said I would like to do rather than lose that money entirely, and he told me to submit a formal written request through their 'Contact Us' section of their site. I did this over two weeks ago and have not heard back from them again.
I received an email today informing me that I am being charged $20.00 for not returning my key fob to them following my account closure, so not only has CarShare stole a years worth of membership fees from me (when I never even had the opportunity to use their service!) but I now owe them an additional fee for not sending back the key fob that I was told not to send them by their own customer service rep.
CarShare Atlantic is a scam and has the worst customer service I have ever personally experienced. Save your money and your time and opt for an alternative method of transportation.
