Recently rented a car from Budget, for a week. Overall, it was a good experience. We had booked a compact car, upgraded to a very nice Taurus (thanks Diane!) ???? at no extra charge. Price was competitive but I do think a bit high. We also weren't able to use a Budget coupon that we had. Woman at call center (Sienna) when I first called, wasn't the friendliest person and did give one add on price that was incorrect. Vladimir and Bob at office were both very pleasant when my husband returned the car. Would use their services again.????
Disappointed. Called Saturday 3 times & got voicemail & left message that I needed it for a family funeral in southern ON. Though their message said they would call back, they didn't. Called Sunday morning & someone actually answered unfortunately nothing - no vehicles to rent. Suggestion - If you know you have no vehicles left to rent out on Friday night at the end of workday (or any day), say so in your voicemail. Something like "This is Friday night July 31, 2020 - If you're calling to rent a car for the weekend, we temporarily have no cars available until Tuesday (or whatever day) August 4, 2020. Sorry for the inconvenience." I can only assume they didn't want to pay for a long distance phone call to call back but I guess they felt it's ok for people to call long distance & leave a message to request a car.

We booked a moving truck nearly a month in advance to move to our new home. Upon arriving to pick it up they told us that they truck we were assigned is missing, the person they rented it to last night cannot be contacted and has not returned the vehicle. So instead they gave us a different truck that was 10 ft. smaller. We had to throw away some furniture in order for everything to fit. They offered no discount, reimbursement, or other solution. Very dissatisfied.

After a family member having rented an SUV for a week and spending lots of money with budget, the rep Tyler Teixera refused to give us a 10 min shuttle ride “as half of their staff was not working” even though it was 5pm on a Friday night and nobody else was at their place other than his co-worker. Ridiculous experience, not renting there again
Just very unhelpful in all ways. Staff member basically said since I booked online there was absolutely nothing he could do to offer help... (wanted to change the time of pick up on my rental and some other things) Would not recommend at all, especially during a pandemic when plans can change quite quickly and the staff at Budget don't care!
It was our first time to rent a car for a trip out of town. Initially trying to make reservation online but website giving error message so I had to call customer service. The rep I spoke with was very helpful and transaction was successful. The dodge caravan they gave us was in very good condition. All in all, we had a great experience.

The clerk present offered me good service despite anything with the manager who was not reachable when he had told me lies over the phone, I do not recommend this place to anyone. I would prefer to give zero stars, but what can you do. The guy who works here was actually nice to me, even though he didnt know what he was doing. Sort of not his fault he hasnt been trained properly. What you really need to look out for, is the aftermarket mats that they jam into the cars, because they will ride up on the gas pedal, and actually cause the car to go out of controll. When i reported this issue to them, they laughed it off. I coudl have killed myself and the three kids i had with me, but they didnt mind. I paid my bill which was WAAAAAAY too overpriced for what i got, and was totally unfair, but anyway -- i paid it and left. NEVER AGAIN will i put my family in danger renting from this place.
I would give them zero stars if I could. ABSOLUTE SCAM. Booked a car for one day well in advance, under my name as the driver but with a credit card in my partner's name. Show up to Budget to pick up our car, and are told that we can't get the car at all since it was booked under my name but I don't have a credit card in my name. I ask well, can we have our money refunded? The lady at the desk said, "Uhhh, I don't know", then pretty much goes on to tell us we have to cancel within 48 hours to get our money back. That makes no sense, you refused to provide the service we paid for, therefore, we should get our money back. Budget should of never let us book it in the first place online. I am sure this happens to many others and it seems like a complete scam. Budget: they will straight up rob you.
It's the first time I'm downgraded with a rental car...My stuff don't hold in the trunk! Sorry but a Sonic is not a Focus equivalent! Very desapointed...
I rented with the airport location about a month ago as their rates and vehicle selection was great and I just wanted to say that the staff that was there to help me were so kind and welcoming. They answered all my questions about insurance and snow tires and although there was a long line up, they were very quick at getting everyone on their way. The car was very clean and equipped with a snow brush which we definitely needed during our trip. Thank you Budget staff for making our winter vacation that much better! We will always book with Budget when in Cranbrook from now on!
They were first class all the way. They really help make my Canada experience a lot better. I was already have a great success but they help me with the minor inconvenience. I had to rent my car for three more days and they directed me to the right place.

Do yourself a favor and avoid this place until they get their paperwork figured out. Got charged for a random person's parking ticket on a car I didn't even rent. Even my invoice for the car shows another entirely different license plate from the one I rented.
Didn't have the car we saw online or any others that were in the size we wanted. The gentleman was polite and apologetic, he even suggested another company near by. Thanks for your help

I've been renting from Budget Lacewood for several years now. Wayne is a very pleasant guy - cool and laid back. The transactions are easy peezy. So far my customer service experience have been great, and from time to time, I've enjoyed a free upgrade... Strongly recommend.

In general I had a good experience with them. We got upgraded, which I didn't really want but as it was we left an hour late because they couldn't give us the car we requested. After that all was well. Excellent, clean vehicle and no problems on drop off. Staff was courteous.

Horrible service!!!! I was quoted under a hundred dollars for a 24 hour rental and ended up getting charged 4 times the quoted amount. I paid nearly $400 for a one day rental of a basic model vehicle. They do not go over the details of the bill with you, when you ask questions they blow you off. Go to the next counter and skip budget all together.

A friend and I rented a car in Nanaimo to drive to Victoria, and we got a car with lots of surface damage and a dented back panel. The car drove fine, but when we returned it to Victoria the lot attendants told us that this car should not have been rented to us because of the damage for the risk of receiving a ticket from law enforcement. They then proceeded to say they were going to write off the $3 of litre charged for refilling the gas and sent us on our way. Got the bill today still charged us for the gas, so i phoned head office where they informed us that the lot attendants were wrong in saying that the damage was ticketable. Over all the car was nearly 200 dollars to rent for the day which is insane and the whole interaction was weird. Better luck next time "budget"

Terrible place to rent a car. Makes absolutely no difference what car you pick online. I picked a small car and they only had SUV's available. I asked them to waive the gas fee since it's not the car we asked for and they did absolutely nothing to rectify the issue. This is the second time this has happened here. The car itself also has a malfunction error which the attendant didn't tell us about. I do not recommend this place at all.

Our train ???? to Saskatoon was late, we messed our pickup time by a day. No problem, a phone call to let them know. Also a great way to test drive is vehicle, we had a VW Atlas, put about 600 km on it it 7 days. It served its purpose well but I wouldn't buy one.

Have been renting vehicles from the Barrie location for the past 10 + years now and always have a good experience. The pricing is good and the staff is very friendly as well.

George was extremely helpful and courteous, the vehicle I rented was for 4 days and it was very clean, ran perfectly and the price was very easy on my wallet. The pick up and drop off times were perfect as I live an hour away from them. I will definitely rent from Budget again.

Took ages to get the car but it was good service in the end
I've known three people who have worked at this location and they all complained about the same thing - being mistreated by the manager Tim. They would tell me that he swears and calls his workers stupid, and that he constantly puts down the staff. It made me really upset that they were getting treated this way but no one would say anything because they were scared of losing their jobs. They also told me that they wouldn't get paid on their said paydays and were told to wait until next payday to receive their money, which is absolutely unacceptable. I was planning on renting a vehicle from this place awhile ago while my car was in the shop, but after I heard what goes on here, I will avoid it like the plague.

We rented Car on Sunday around 12noon and we dropped it in the evening around 7pm same day. We accidentally forgot to put gas, so we called at 8am Monday morning and asked staff that we can put Gas on it. She was dishonest and said oh we have to charge you $150, which is brutal just for the Gas. According to the agreement we could hold car till 12noon Monday. NEVER EVER going back.

Just started renting vehicles here because of the convenient location. I was a little skeptical at first since they are located in a plaza and thought they wouldn't have any selection. I was wrong. They've always had what I'm looking for and the staff are great to deal with.

I called this rental company and arranged to rent a pick up truck. I said I needed one with a trailer hitch as I was towing a tent trailer. I was told this wouldn't be a problem and arranged pick up for the next day. We packed all of our gear and drove all the way from Wasaga Beach only to be told we were in fact not allowed to tow anything with their vehicles. We wasted 2 hours of our day and gas in our vehicle back and forth to Barrie. I am disgusted with this situation and with the obvious lack of knowledge of the staff. Thanks for wasting our time and money.

Customer service to be desired. The women serving us on Easter Friday was completely out of step with what the brand represents and offers - not at all welcoming, helpful or friendly. Very condescending; did everything to up-sell me into an insurance product I didn’t need because of my credit card, which I had explained. On return, I handed over my keys and all I got was a grunt and hardly looked up from computer. I had filled up the car for example but didn’t even ask me. Not a great rep for your company.

I want to thank Heidi that works at the Welton Street location. My mother recently had a severe stroke and was on her death bed. When I flew into Halifax last minute and needed to rent a car, I knew I was going to get hosed due to the lack of vehicles and last minute booking. My cost for a jeep was $1200 a week, not including kms but I needed a vehicle. When I arrived in Sydney, I went to the Welton Street location to see if there was anything they could do. Heidi made every effort to help me out and switched me into a smaller vehicle and went further to avoid charging me drop off fees in both locations. She truly saved my pocket book in a time that I really needed it. She not only knows what customer service is, but she is also a great human being. I will continue to rent with Budget due to this effort of one person. Thank you Heidi.
I would give in negative. They made a reservation and at that time didn’t ask me about my license or age and when I went there to get a car they told me no. It was not an emergency, but what if it was? Totally irresponsible behaviour. Would never go there and would not suggest anyone to go there.

They are blaming me for damages that I did not cause to their vehicle. 3 months later they send me a repair bill and claim that I have damaged the vehicle when I did not. I would be extremely cautious when renting a vehicle from these people. When the guy looked over the vehicle before we took it he said not to worry about any of the scratches or dents on the bumper but he did not write any of those damages down.

Such a bad customer service they want me to get a vehicle for 6 days minimum and I just want it for one day . Never recommend to go there they ripping ppl off by telling them to rent it for 6 days on high price .
Had to line up for an insane amount of time but otherwise good customer service. The car was clean and we had no issues. Just seemed weird that we paid more for extra insurance than the cost of the actual car. Would recommend that you just use the insurance that comes with your credit card - we know for next time!
Rented a car at this location but had not made prior reservation. Was fortunate to get a car and the staff were very friendly and helpful.The car was in great condition and was very new too,a Chevrolet-4dr.The GPS navigation was easy to use as well.Before releasing the car,the staff checked the car's exterior thoroughly in my presence and noted any scratches or dents.That was good,I think. As I opted to return it at the airport,the return procedure was convenient and the staff at the key-return counter pleasant and kind.I hope to visit Victoria again and would definitely use their service.Thank you all at Budget.

Bad experience with George. Called yesterday to confirm availability of a SUV or Suburban as we have several family members flying in for a funeral. At first he was helpful in the sense that yes he did confirm a SUV with mud and snow tires. I said great can I reserve? He said I need to know the exact time you are arriving, I said between 11:00 am and 11:30 am Sat. morning, he said I need a exact time. I said there are several of us making arrangements and once we booked our flights I would give him a ring with the exact arrival time but it would be within the next hr or so. He was insistent that I had to give him a exact time as they have to meet us at the airport. I am from the area I asked him are you at the Cranbrook Airport right now? He said yes. My apologies but he was so difficult to deal with. I was not upset when called to reserve and I understand there is not always someone at the airport and that he could not reserve for me without a time. I could have called back within the next 1/2 hour but chose not to. I called Enterprise and reserved a car without a credit card or hard time. I am a reasonable person and understand and can work with the facts provided but not when I get tone and attitude. Instead of ending up with the SUV with mud and snow tires I am not driving my family members to Creston for a funeral in a car with all season. Not my first choice. Vehicle wasn't there when I arrived and they tried to offer me a lower power vehicle instead so they wouldn't have to go get it. When they cleaned the inside they sprayed cleaner on the windshield and didn't wipe it off so it clouded over later on when i turned the AC on. When they drove the vehicle into the lot I watched the driver was in such a rush he almost hit someone. During the pre-inspection the representative missed a damaged component held together with duck tape and zip ties. Definite renter beware!

Very unprofessional customer service.. i wad their regular customer, booking alteast every second week.. i booked my car for May 10th and my car wasnt even ready when I went to pick it up. In fact they didnt even know the right time of my booking. The car i got was really dirty from inside. The seats were not clean and had stains. They also charged me an extra day since i returned the car when they were close but i was still within my 24 hour rental period, however i had to call general customer service number to get my refund after the store decided not to refund me. The management needs to think about the business again because its the Budget’s name on the stake. Because clearly they just lost their regular customer.

Reserved online, picked up my car and dropped off after hours. Very quick pick-up (compared to the hour-long waits I've had at other local rental places). Car was clean, new and had all the bells and whistles. Giving them a 4 star because I called this week to try to find a last minute pick-up truck, the only one they have is currently rented out and the website wasn't clear (instead, it told me to call the store).
I have never had such a terrible experience as I have had with the manager at the Templeton Budget (Jim Gautier) location. The manager has zero customer service skills. He chase's customers away. I witnessed him belittle his staff as well as customers. Dana (believe that is her name) is an excellent rep and apologized profusely for this guys conduct. I will be contacting the owner of this location as well as the Budget Canada Service Center. This Manager believes he is god. He needs to remember customers pay his wages. Judging by other comments on here, I am not the only one who feels this way about this Manager. Total Jerk. I am glad my husband was not around to see how degrading this guy speaks to people. For starters this new location that opened sometime in 2018 is way better, not crowded not cramped, cleaner than the old location in the strip mall on McPhillips near the Superstore. The vehicles are mostly GM or Chrysler since the dealerships are next door. Gave us a Jeep Grand Cherokee for the Standard SUV that we had booked. It was clean and in good shape. For the after-hours return, the envelope box was empty. And on the next business day, they charged us an extra day of rental since there was no paperwork on the return (Hello!! Empty envelope box!). Once I called it in, they fixed it. But that shouldn’t have happened for starters. Anyhoo, the vehicles are clean & decent, and the service was good. If they’re competitively priced, I’ll exercise my FastBreak privileges here.
I recently had to rent a vehicle while our van was in the shop. The fellow at Budget (I can't remember his name) was great to deal with and the car was better than expected. I hopefully won't need to rent a car again for a while, but if I do, I will definitely use these folks. Awesome customer service!
Our experience was a nightmare. We got there at 12:02pm on a Saturday, after arranging a 12pm pick-up time on their website. The place was closed, leaving our guests without a car for the weekend. This wouldn't have been as infuriating had we not been on hold over the phone since 11:30am. The purpose of our call was to let them know we would be a couple of minutes late... This resulted in spending an extra $375 at another location, spoiling the first few days in Canada for our visitors. A week later, the manager made no effort to right this wrong, instead "offering a discount on your next rental", and blaming my guests for being 2 minutes late, rather than acknowledge the issue with their website's reservation software (my guests could have booked an afternoon pick-up time, which gave them the impression the place would be open past noon).

Update : 55 centimeters of snow later in Kimberley, what's below has become quite a funny inside amongst us : glad we don't have the good ol' Honda Civic anymore. ???? I never write bad reviews, unless there is a serious reason for it. This was a horrible customer experience. My dad was given a Honda Civic to drive to Kimberley, which is really dangerous. It doesn't have sufficient clearance to even be a safe option while driving in the Kootenays during winter. We also suspect it was equipped with 4 seasons tires, instead of winter tires, which is unacceptable. Once he wanted to switch cars, we had to wait for more than 30 minutes (even after having called before to make sure someone would be there to assist) : the airport booth was empty. The customer service representative kept finding excuses. Serious lack of professionalism. Don't rent there, go with Enterprise or National.
Was told that I wouldnt have to pay for a day of rental after I said I only have cash and was not going to make another trip into the city as I like an hour away. They charged me anyway and said I was rude.

I would post 0 stars if I could. The younger woman with long hair that worked in the office was incredibly rude. I picked up a vehicle at the airport that I discovered had a nail in the tire and the a/c didn’t work, the customer service told me to take it to this location and I was met with an ignorant unapologetic staff. The only redeeming person was David, the guy they were using to clean/ gas up the vehicles. He was cool. #davidformanager

Honestly ridiculous the run around I got today! From being picked up late, to not having the reservation I just made. Very disappointed and highly don’t recommend them.
I called asking for availability of vehicle to rent and met with simple answers like "no." And no further help. I had to dig and ask to check if there is anything coming back in the next few days for the staff to check. Seemed like he wasn't interested in helping or my business.

The three staff there were so friendly, and helped me even thought I hadn't made a reservation and didn't think they had any more vehicles left in the fleet. They found me a vehicle, were patient with me while I had to check with my insurance to see if I had the appropriate insurance - and even helped me find some great spots to visit. They were so patient and kind, my highest thanks to all three.

Picked up the car and it was filthy! Was not cleaned outside or, especially during a pandemic, inside. Drink remnants from the previous driver still spilt on the console. Dirty socks balled up in the glove box and a layer of dirt on everything. The steering was covered with a wrap to try to create the illusion that the car had been cleaned but was disgusting. We have never been so disappointed.!
Broke down with a flat tire outside St Catherine's at 5 in the morning, heading to NYC. Was directed to this location and couldn't be more happy: lovely lady got me another (bigger) car when they opened at 8am with no fuss. This is what good customer service should be all the time!
Got the car I rented online, picked up and dropped off back to the Nanaimo Harbour for our flights, no problem, and the staff were very helpful all the way along. Location us not as close to the Harbour as Google Maps may tell you, so do ask for a pick up if you are renting a car... It's not a quick walk with baggage.
Great location right across from the bus lines and convention center. Very nice staff with rapid service. No gas station near by so be sure to fill up elsewhere before you return the car

I'm dissapointed and frustrated with the service I received with this location. The gentleman working kept informing me it was my bank who was the issue and blocking the rental charge. After 4 hrs, multiple calls with my bank to determine it wasn't them and multiple tries later. It finally worked and I was able to take the rental car. The gentleman at the front desk at one point was rude, and not helpful when I asked him multiple times what can I do? I was lost. I then learned it was their system outage and not the bank at all. If I had been informed it was a system outage at the beginning I could have gone somewhere to burn time. I was utterly panicking and went in circles around this parking lot trying to get someone on the phone to help me. It was stressful and frustrating. I honestly would recommend a different company for a rental if their staff can't be honest about system outages. They happen, and I would be more understanding of just informing me that, then lying about an issue that wasn't even an issue.

I would give a zero rating if they had it here, but they don't so 1 star it is. My spouse, and I had went to budget the day before, to reserve a 5.0 Mustang for our trip to Tofino. So today, as it being the day we reserved our vehicle for, we came to pick it up, and guess what... NO CAR. Isn't the whole point of resvering a specific vehicle, is that its reserved for you! We're not impressed, as the day we had went to reserve the Mustang, there was 2 in the lot, while reserving it, the girl in the front should have explained that it might not be here tomorrow, and that reservations are basically useless. If she had mentioned that, we would have gotten the car earlier, as it was ALREADY IN THE LOT. The guy there tried his best, but in all honesty, you can give any excuse in the book, and that will not change my mind how I feel how they run their business there.

We had a terrible experience at this location. We never had any problems renting cars from other agencies before, this is a first and I will not rent with Budget again. After arranging a pickup time at noon for a saturday and receiving a confirmation email for that booking, we were very disappointed to see it closed when we arrived at 12:02. We would have accepted this timing error if things has totally been our fault but then : - how is is possible to book a car at the time the location closes ? Do you expect to give us the car keys in 30 seconds and leave for the weekend ? Knowing you had a noon booking that day, it would have been responsible from your part to either : use the contact number we gave you for the booking to call us and ask us to come sooner, not send the confirmation email because it lead us to believe you'd still be there past noon, wait a few minutes before locking your door knowing you had a customer on his way or at least call to see where we were and if we were coming or not ? It shouldn't be up to a customer to teach you how to do your job right. Arriving at 12:02 for a noon booking can hardly be considered being late when renting a car is a process that takes at least 10 minutes once at the location. Putting that aside, what made me most furious was that I had tried to get a hold of you around 11:30 am that day. I was actually put on hold over the phone for more than 20 minutes ! We arrived at your closed location, and I was still on hold. Basically, the person who asked me to be on hold just left the office for the weekend. Again, I shouldn't teach you how to do your job but when a customer calls and you put him on hold, you could at least tell him that you're busy closing... I didn't even have a chance to say : "hi, i'm the noon booking for today and we're on our way. we could be two minutes late, is that still ok ?". That whole ordeal costs us about $375 because we ended up having to go the airport Budget location to get a car. It was a very bad start to our stay in Winnipeg. And I'm not even going to talk about the shocking conversation we had with the manager of the McPhillips location a week later to see how they could make this right. Just ridiculous and very un-canadian.
I was offered a bigger vehicle since I had picked the mystery car option, only to realize I was charged extra for the bigger car after I returned the car. Not picking this company again in the future

Call in service differs greatly from in person service. Multiple unexplained charges on arrival. But since it’s “in the contract” I have to pay. ie was not told my initially booked drop off time had changed due to picking up early. If I was told, understandable, however it was not.
Horrible Customer Service by the main representative Jacob. In the middle of trying to find a work around for a reservation issue with the representative on the phone, he turned off the lights, grabbed his coat and said they are closed and walked out!!!! I have never experienced such deplorable treatment in my life. Only saving grace is that the other service rep, Paul, apologized and drove me over the airport location where they were super helpful. I would give a half star, but it is not an option.
I had to wait for 10-15 minutes as they said the card was not ready. Moreover they charged me $12 extra for 1 gallon of oil though I returned full tank. Later they credited the amount once called them. Overall experience was not bad. The car was good.

NEVER RENT FROM HERE. Not only did this place say be back in 10 minutes. I waited from 9:45-11:20am for the be back in 10 minutes. They covered the number to call them at and when they both came back with timmies in their hands they both laughed at me and the other people standing there. They said “hope you weren’t waiting long” . This was the worst customer service. No wonder they make their rentals cheap because they know that’s the only way they are getting business . The “cheap” rental I received also had the red caution light on the full time as there was a problem with the engine and no windshield wiper fluid. When I called to ask the man said “oh just go buy some” or “go to another budget and they will give you a new car” budget I will never ever no mater the circumstances rent with you ever again. Please be aware these guys who work there are the most unprofessional people.

We ordered a Jeep online and booked the reservation, and the day before picking up the car, we went to the store to reconfirm the information, the stuff said everything is good and just come here and pick up your car tomorrow. Then today we arrived here another stuff said because of our age(under 25) cannot rent Jeep for us. What is a funny joke, It's completely delaying our trip. We will not trust them anymore
Excellent, fuel-efficient car. I wish there had been an operator's manual so I could read and figure out how some of the electronics worked and how to adjust the tilt of the steering column. We eventually found out how to operate things by trial and error. When I first arrived in the office to pick up the car there was no one at the front desk for 5 or 10 minutes while I waited and I had no bell to ring to find out if someone could help me. Overall I am very satisfied with my car rental at Budget.

We wanted to rent a car for the day to tour the coast, and these guys were great. Very helpful, friendly service.
I've dealt with this location on several occasions and usually its alright. However, I've never had to make any changes to my plans before. This time I've had to alter my plans and add an extra day to my rental period. They informed me that they would have to double the price of my entire 6-day trip because it was now going by their midweek rate instead of their weekend rate. They were unwilling to work with us in any way even after my wife called to discuss options. We had to call a different location to finally get someone who would help us and even then, we still will have to pay $80 more for the extra day. I'm thoroughly unimpressed by the service and unwillingness to work on a reasonable solution.
Terrible experience. They lost the reservation. They were unable to provide a proper receipt. They were unable to return a lost jean jacket despite confirming they located it! Management does not return calls. A complete gong show.
Not a good experience. Wanted to choose a car that was available on the lot but the young lady at the front desk said that the "only" car we could take was the one that was being washed in the bay. Even after telling here we would wait for the car we wanted to be cleaned or to just release it to us & we would clean it, she still refused. When I asked to speak to a manager, she said "oh, he won't release that car because you have to take this car...it is the only one available". I didn't argue any further as I wasn't paying for the rental (my car was at a local collision shop nearby) & I just wanted to get out of there as she was not being helpful or accommodating at all. Not only did we not get to choose a car...the car they did give us was dirty inside & smelled funny. So not impressed with both the customer service or the vehicle. Will NEVER rent from here again & will NOT be recommending this place to anyone.

My car was not cleaned out properly - old cheese under the driver's seat, used napkins in the doors and crumbs, hair, misc, under the whole back seat area. No apology or compensation.
Currently I am a fast break member and thus service is fast, but even before that you never had to wait long. They are open early which is also great and the cars are well cleaned.
I was surprisingly pleased with my Camry. Guy at the desk was very helpful and understanding when there was a mix up with the deposit. Car was clean and pick up/drop off were quick and easy. My deposit was returned quickly. Will definitely use this location again.

This location doesn't deserve a star rating. The woman working that day was less than respectful to my situation and couldn't care less why I was renting a car and that I came a VERY long way to rent one and essentially made my young daughter and I leave the location. I knew the policies on the website for renting a car and had phoned prior to ensure that I was able to rent and was turned down at the location with no other alternative. I was lucky enough to find a friendly stranger who helped me get a ride to the Enterprise location who was MORE than willing to assist me and my daughter rent a car. Let's just say that I WILL NOT be renting, nor recommend anyone to rent from this location.
Horrible lack of clear communication. Told they were open till 10:00 no one had kiosk no answer phone number no answer on phone number email... Not willing to accommodate us. Not impressed. Stay away. Will not accept Canadian currency.
So I came in here around 8 AM looking for a car because mine broke down last night. I didn't have a reservation because I had literally just come from my mechanic to arrange for the repairs and find out how long it'd be. They told me that they had to clean a few cars for reservations but it should be about an hour. I actually came back just under an hour later and my rental was ready! So I just did up the paperwork and off I went. Pretty pleased with the service. They really helped me out. :)

The worset experience, I have ever had with a rental company.
I had to book a rental suddenly as my father was passing. I arrived at the counter close to 1am and proceeded to pick up a car. Was told that the car I originally booked was extremely small but I would be given a larger car for the same price if I took snow tires for the duration of my rental and the bonus would be the car was “more gas efficient” than the small one I originally booked. So after everything was done I ended up with a $190 gas bill and almost $600 for 8 days. The salesman was as helpful as he could be, but come on ~$100 day while mostly being in one place at the hospital...disappointing at best

Walking distance near the Harbour Air seaport downtown. Great service all the times I've used the cars here. No bogus upsells, quick and friendly service despite Covid measures in place. My go to rental when I'm on the island for work. I am >25 with BC License so that may make things easier for me. Would recommend.
They were fantastic, gave me 3 choices of different suv's to use while my truck was being repaired. The suv was very very clean, full of gas, easy to drive, very comfortable. Overall I'm very pleased with this business.

Very bad service. Charge for nothing. Checked a vehicle while return. It was good and after they charged money. ????
I was told one thing and they did another. Got the car back an hour later then the designated drop off time due to a hold up on my end. So for being an hour late they charge me an extra full day. I said ok I'll pay the extra day, and but I'll just keep the car for tomorrow. Ok no problem. 2mins later after all the paper work is done. "Oh well you just checked the car in we can't let you have it back, or we will have to charge you a full day reservation". Had just had the conversation a minute ago giving the ok, and they change it on me. Essentially cost me an extra $100 plus because the wasted rental time, and had to get a taxi to the airport the next morning. After trying to explain the mistake to the manager she was very confrontational and moody. Putting the blame on me, and not the teller who had just made the mistake. Will be avoiding renting from Budget in Victoria from now on.

Worst car rental experience i ever had. Misrepresentation of the facts. Try to charge me $600 extra for just traveling 120 km in alberta.
I rented from the Red Deer Budget and the Hyundai's air conditioning wasn't working (it was +30...) Called them and they simply told me to take it to a Hyundai dealership in Saskatoon where I was heading. I called Saskatoon Budget and they were so humble and helpful. Told me they would take care of me. They swapped me out for a Fiat 500 and I was on my way. Five stars for Saskatoon Budget and none for Red Deer.
Extremely unhappy with this location. The guy Brad is so misleading, he will tell you things which are misleading, so please don go to what the says, and later on he will say please contact 1-800- BUGDGET to get you complain solved. I wish I could give a zero stars to him for lying. He said our location will be closed on the Labor day, so you can return anytime on that day, and you wont be charged extra, but turns out he put a charge on my credit card for extra day, and now claims he did not tell us this, and now asked us to contact help line. This location gave me worst experience, and I will not recommend this location of budget to anyone. If anyone happens to go please get all details in written in advance from this guy Brad, as he is misleading and not accurate.

I often rent from Budget and have a good experience, however, my experience at this location was particularly disappointing. We rented a mini van for our trip to Tofino. We asked the customer service rep if the vehicle model had built in GPS. She confirmed it did not and that we could rent it at a discounted rate of $10. When we recieved the vehicle it already had the GPS installed. When we asked the representative who brought us the car to confirm the GPS was available because we'd pay for it extra he was confused because it was already a built in feature of the car. We went back inside to the first representative to confirm with representative who brought us the car. The first customer service rep who signed us in was very dodgy telling the other "just turn on the GPS" and he responded "it's part of the car." I have never experienced Budget being so dishonest before, previously when I have rented from other locations they never have charged for GPS extra when it is already a feature of the car. When we asked to remove the extra feature the customer service rep said she could not because we have already signed for it. When I called Budget Canada Corporate Office they confirmed that this was not a feature we should be charged extra for if it is built into the model we rented. The Customer Service Representative from the corporate office, Dianna, stated that this franchise will be investigated and reviewed in how they present their features and upgrades. We will no longer be renting from Budget after this experience.

The skills of the staff here vary by a lot. Some don't even know how to use their own system. A car from Budget hit my car a drove off. I called Budget after it happened and the person who I spoke to was able to look up the car with the description and partial plates I provided. She wasn't able to give out any information, due to privacy of the customer (understandable). She said made a note on the file and they will contact ICBC when the driver returns the car. I went on and filed my claim with ICBC. A week later, I didn't hear back so I gave them a call. The person I spoke to tried to look up car but ended up giving me a number to call their claims department. The person at the claims department (who was difficult to get a hold of) told me he couldn't look up the car and wouldn't do anything until ICBC sent them a letter (ICBC told me they wouldn't be able to do that unless they had a full license plate). I asked if he was able to even do a search for a car of the make and colour in Victoria that had those similar plates. He refused to and said it was too many to go through. I called Budget again a few more times (their general line and the downtown one). All of them claiming they couldn't look this car up because it would be too many to go through. The manager I spoke to at the downtown branch was extremely rude and aggressive about it and kept telling me that he can't give me any information. I told him many times that I understand that but he kept interrupting. I only wanted him to report the claim or investigate why there wasn't a call to ICBC about it. When asked to look up the car, he said he couldn't and didn't know how and even asked me how I knew to look for him (he's a manager, isn't it his job to handle things that get escalated to him?). He told me to call claims but, as mentioned above, I've already done that and they refused to help me. I'm not convinced that they can't look up the car because the first person I spoke to was able to find the car. I regret not asking her for her name so I can speak with her again. I also regret not calling the police about it and putting my trust in Budget. The damage wasn't big, so I didn't want to go through the police since I thought Budget would do their part. I guess this is a $300 (deductible) lesson learned to never use Budget again. I understand these people not tech workers, but at the very least, they should be trained to use their own system. Some of the regular staff seem pretty nice and pleasant to talk to though. Definitely not the manager at the downtown branch.
Budget saved the day for me on Christmas eve and the lady was extremely nice and accommodating. Will def rent from here again next trip!
Tell you one thing on the phone then say another when you get there and the day before your wedding you don't want problems.. The car also looked like it hit somebody recently

I picked up my car and first impressions were not good. The car had not been properly cleaned which did not impressed me especially during COVID-19. That evening I checked my credit card and I noticed a payment of $850 odd dollars had been billed to my credit card from budget. I immediately called the office first thing in the morning and asked about this as I only signed for $685. The lady told me it wasn't her it was the computer that did it. Was it somebody had to plug the numbers in the computer I don't understand. She said we always charge extra because there's always extra fees.The next day The tire pressure warning light came and I called the office and they told me not to worry about it because it was probably because it was hot out.. I told them I was concerned but would would check again first thing in the morning. The next morning I went outside started the car The warning light came on as well as an engine pressure warning light. I looked up what the what it meant in the owner's manual and it said do not drive vehicle. I immediately called the office and told them what was going on and her response to me was well it must be a faulty sensor so drive the car across town and we'll see what we can do. I told her I refuse to drive a vehicle with those warning lights on. After much debate she finally sent someone over with a different vehicle. Things look good until I took the vehicle on the highway. As soon as I hit 60 to 65 km/h it started shaking like a milkshake machine. Once again I immediately called the office. This time her response was there must be chunks of mud in the wheel wells and that I either needed to find a spray wand wash and do it myself or drive across town and wait until someone was able to do it for me. This was an absolute gong show from the start of the car rental to the end which was a week.
They offered to upgrade my economy-size rental to a mid-size at no extra charge. Got a nice Ford Flex here for 2 days.
First time renter, had confussions as to why I was being charged huge extras for over time, which was not explained when rented. I came almost 2 hours before my flight to return my vehicle so I would have plenty of time. The ladies working got quite ignorant with me when i asked why the charges were more then when i booked and would not be according.. I will never rent from budget in Comox again. And have planned 2 more trips back here this summer alone.. I will be coming a formal complaint against the workers as well as customer service was completely unacceptable upon drop off.

Much like a previous reviewer, but on returning the vehicle: when I rented, I was told the office would be open until 2:00pm. I arrived at 12:15pm to find a sign on the door that read 'Back At 1:30pm.' This just added to the frustration of why I had to rent the vehicle in the first place - my own vehicle broke down in Barrie on our way back to Gravenhurst and had to be towed and repaired. I needed another vehicle to drive until the repair was finished. The only thing that will make me a happy customer would be if they offered me a free ride back to the location of my repaired vehicle. We will see. P.S. So, when I returned, the young man at the counter, Matt, a 12+ year veteran with Budget, listened to my story, apologized and then offered to drive me the 10 minute trip to the location of my repaired vehicle - awesome! I would go back to deal with him again. Thanks!!
I rented a car for 11 days with budget car rentals in Ontario Canada. When we first got into the car we noticed that the car was low on gas and processed to tell the attendant. As we were in a rush we didnt notice the state of our vehicle. After a few hours we noticed that was fur and hair in the back seat, crumbs all through out the center consult. There was someone else sunglasses in the roof holder and garbage in the glove box. There was candy under the window button And nuts and bolts all over the trunk When we brought the car back to the budget, the attendant seemed unchanged about the state of the car. He gave me a 20 dollar discount.... We had also emailed the company and they sent a generic apology. Do not rent from a company that could car less about cleaning there fleet during a pandemic!!!!!!

Rented a car for 8 days for just under $500, flight gets cancelled and to drive to another airport they want another day paid even though it was the same day plus a $350 drop off fee. So it cost me more for 3 hours of driving than it did for 8 days. Just a garbage company with no customer service, avoid using budget if you can. Pure scams.
First time renting from Budget Car Rental in many years! "Wayne", the Budget associate was very helpful and made the process go very smoothly! Location kinda awkward to get to by bus. Pickup of customers would be a nice perk!
They miscounted. No truck, and gave us a van that will make us do the trip 3 times instead of one. Charged us a third the cost for the van but the cost for time and fuel doing a 10 hour round trip each time in this process doesn't make up for it.

Service was fine. Until they did not honor the rate originally quoted. Months later I received a bill for over $100. I have been months trying to deal with this and still have not been refunded. The manager was has been very rude unhelpful. I bet there is a better place to go.
Horrible experience. First we arrived shortly after 7 pm, office hours are stated to 8 at their website and on a sign at the shop front. Nobody was there. Next day we come back, they tell us we cant rent our car we reserved because our driver was not older than 25, although there was no hint on their website for that. This place is not recommendable, we went to AVIS after that who helped us, for an even better price.

I’m not one to write reviews. I generally believe that most companies have their ups and downs. In the end everything balances as there are people having good days and bad. I rented a vehicle from this location and upon coming into the facility, I noticed that the manager was a bit reserved. Chalked it up to it being early and I went on with calling up my reservation. He pulled it up and stated he had two vehicles for me to choose between. I asked since it’s within the booking description can we take another vehicle that was on the lot (there were 3 of these, if not more). He said that they would need to be cleaned and he wouldn’t have it done until 11am as he needed to have his reservations completed first. Thinking about the long drive ahead, I figured it was smart to wait the 4 hours and get the right vehicle. The manager then immediately noted that he couldn’t guarantee the vehicle would still be there at 11 either. At this point I felt like the manager, Trevor, didn’t want me to take this vehicle, even though it was in the class that I had booked for. I decided to get insurance and check back. About an hour later, I noticed that one of the vehicles I preferred was being cleaned. I walked in and spoke with another rep about my request and he provided me the keys to another of the same kind. Immediately, I noticed crushed cherries and juice all on the back seats. I called the rep again and he asked if he could just clean the mess for me. I noted that the car was more than dirty, and to also clean the debris all over the floor. He then retracted and said that he would change for another that was in the lot. At this point the clean vehicle that I was eyeing was cleaned and parked in the lot. I was provided the keys to a different one from the one that was cleaned and again noticed the mess. Understanding that the staff didn’t have the time to clean the 2 vehicles I was assigned, I asked politely if I could get the clean one. The rep responded that it was being reserved for someone. This got me thinking, as I have always rented from budget and from this particular location. It’s a first come first serve treatment. You reserve a class and if it’s there you get it otherwise you get something better. I’ve dealt with Dana numerous times and she was absolutely great. She was always able to accommodate me as I rented more than 70 days a year between numberous vehicles. By now I felt like the manager, Trevor, just didn’t want to rent me a car and wanted me to play by HIS rules. I again asked the rep if he could give us the clean car and have another one cleaned for the reservation. He responded that the manager didn’t want to exchange another vehicle for US. This was all prearranged before the request to have the second dirty car cleaned. The rep didn’t speak with the manager between us looking at both vehicles and they were both aware that we received 2 vehicles that had not been cleaned. Fearing being assigned a smaller vehicle, I bit my toungue and took the second dirty car. I went straight to the car wash and spent my own time and money to clean a vehicle that should have been that way when I received it. I would like to share that I will no longer be bringing my business to budget if this is how the company treats customers that are playing by the corporate rules. It’s sad for the bright spots of the organization, like Dana, who are nothing but spectacular. If it were me that owned this location, I would be looking to promote from within, and I wouldn’t have to look far. I hope this review helps someone save time and headache from an unwelcome experience that wouldn’t be expected with any business.

What a horrible experience dealing with an employee named TYLER!!! he misinformed us about renting a car for my brother who lives in Winnipeg that would be coming to Ontario to visit his mother and his children's grandmother. I live in Ontario and was going to use my visa to secure the rental and TYLER said all my brother needed was my card information on the day of the rental. All sounded great my brother and kids will be able to come for a visit...but NO my brother calls to confirm rental and then he is told that I need to be there with my visa card in person now. I live in Ontario so that is not going to happen. TYLER knew all of this especially that I would not be there in person. DO NOT SPEAK OR DEAL WITH AN EMPLOYEE NAMED TYLER !!!!

Already the guy at the front desk was not courteous but when I asked him if the car was of a higher category, he became arrogant and condescending. I told myself that I had to read the details of the offer (which I had done) and that it was ridiculous to think that I was entitled to this promotion on a Monday morning, that all the cars are rented (which does not was not true, I checked). In short, that I do not have the upgrade does not matter but there is a way to address a customer. I regularly rent cars in Quebec and I have never had such bad service. I gave this location only four stars due to my shuttle service. Young man in the back needs to realize the speed limit is posted for a reason! Not to mention that the front staff had to call for him about 4 times before he realized they were waiting for him.

Just brutal. Booked a small economy car, arrived and they said they had no cars to rent me (despite a packed parking lot). They instead gave me a Jeep. So rather then burn 5L/100km of gasoline, I burned 14L/100km, cost me nearly 2 times the money in gas and the ferry was more expensive. I brought this concern up with desk staff and they went on about how it is a "free upgrade" it was a huge downgrade. Very disappointed and wish I had walked over to Enterprise to see what they would offer. Likely won't use Budget again. I come here quite often.

Excellent customer service! Karyn and Jordan were the best! They stepped in and helped out when my other car rental service didn't even have my vehicle. Not only did they honor the same rate of my other booking, but they even gave me some tips for my upcoming vacation to Cuba. A+ quality service!
Car was wet when we picked it up, and had several scratches and a ding in the windshield that weren't noted by the company that became visible as it dried. Also had some garbage inside between the seat and center console from the last users.
They would charge your credit for rubbish reasons after months.
Did not have a good experience here. Vehicles took too long to be ready despite booking way ahead.
Avoid at all cost. During vehicle collection, I did not bring the same credit card used when booking online and was refused the car. Nowhere in the confirmation email states that I need to bring the same credit card (see attached image). I was forced to cancel the existing reservation and rebook a new reservation on the spot for more than double the price for the exact same car and on the same dates, very convenient indeed. The staff Omar was friendly though. I will be writing in to CBC Marketplace with all supporting documents and hope they feature you soon. :)

Not sure what the point of reserving a moving truck is, if when you show up and there is no truck for you. Or any record of a reservation when you actually went in to reserve in person. And instead directs us to u-haul. If I wanted to rent from u-haul I would have booked with them in the first place. This left us in a bind and now moving with 5 cars instead of the moving truck we reserved. Seeing as It looks like I’m not the only one this happened too, clearly something needs to change.

Make sure you check your odometer when to return the car. I hardly drove 50km in 3 days and I was charged $30 for 148km. Never trust those people behind that desk.
Reserved vehicle for a large group, called twice to confirm it would be available on the specific day and time, reservation was confirmed by budget -twice- and still on day and time of the reservation, the vehicle was not available. Absolutely do not trust this company with your hard earned money or vacation time. They will not honour your reservation and will feed you excuses while avoiding all responsibility.
There are two staff members I’ve delt with at this location, and they are worlds apart when it comes to customer service. I highly recommend you deal with Dana, she was very professional, efficient, and helpful The other guy was not helpful, and seemed to be bored.

Terrible customer service. Over charged on many occasions, no statements sent to us and interacting with Jennifer was a painful. She is insulting , rude and does not let you even speak or finish a sentence. I have rented vehicles for staff many times with other companies and have never been treated as poorly as I was at this location. Quite surprised that Jennifer is allowed to speak to customers the way she does when she charged us twice for the same month and I even showed her the transactions . We are taking our business elsewhere.
Short review: Booked a moving truck weeks in advance. Day of the move, we went to go pick up the truck. They didn't have a truck. The guy told us they would take care of it, and that they'd call back asap. They never called back. -------------------------------- Longer review: This was one of the worst experiences we have ever had with a business in Barrie. Not having the truck aside, the complete lack of professionalism was incredibly frustrating... and honestly a little confusing. We will never deal with Budget Truck Rental ever again, and I suggest you avoid them as well. They didn't open on time (8 am). The guy working that day was 15 minutes late, arrived muttering and swearing to himself, and opened shop without looking at us, greeting us, or inviting us in. We went inside and told him that we were here to pick up a moving truck that we had reserved. He immediately got defensive and awkwardly gave us some long story about how hard the morning has been for HIM. Long story short, the truck broke down the night before our booking (what luck eh?) and he's contacted a mechanic to come fix it. We asked if we should stay and wait and he told us that it might take a while. So we asked if we could wait at home and if he could call us back when he had any news, and he suddenly became a lot more pleasant and said that would be better. After not hearing back for over an hour we called back and he was dismissive, but still said he'll call us when he knew more. He never called back. We instead did the entire move with the help of friends, a carload at a time. What should have taken a couple hours took us the entire day. If the truck ACTUALLY broke down the night before our booking, we should have been warned the day it happened. If you say you'll call back, you need to call back even if it's bad news. If something goes wrong, calling to apologize goes a long way. Even if we are going to be disappointed, that doesn't mean you should completely give up on us as customers. And maybe, you know, be an adult and own up to the mistake instead of acting like an awkward, moody teenager who knows he messed up but is angry at you for noticing.
My thanks to Austin and Lisa. When my rental arrangements made through Costco somehow got mangled in the translation, so they and I were trying to work out how come the cost seemed to have risen so much, they stuck to it, figured out the glitch, and made sure I was happy. Good work and willing to go the extra mile (or kilometer). I'll be sticking with Budget.

Not as impressed with this location as the last. They would not pick me up or offer me a taxi when I asked for one. This is customary. The car was fine and the attendant was ok, but I had to pay my own way from Larry Uteck, which isn’t that far. If you’re looking for a Budget to choose from in Halifax, the best one is Kempt road.
Terrible business, terrible prices, as a whole it felt like my business wasn't appreciated. Thank goodness another car rental company is in the area.

Run far away. Even if you have a reservation it doesn’t mean that you will have a car. They accept reservation even if they don’t have any car to give. And you arrive and you’re blocked. All three companies there, Budget, Enterprise and National. All bad.

We were coming home from Ontario in July and rented with Budget. We rented a minivan or an equal 7 seater SUV. When we booked we told them that the credit card holder and the driver were different people to which we were told no problem...( both of us were there at check in ).....when we got to Gander the older lady behind the counter had a problem and we were told the way they do it in Ontario was different than the way they do it there....yet we booked and talked to budget in gander when we actually booked it to begin with. After stressing us out she finally agreed to let us rent it....what we got was a 6 seater not a 7...we had 7 people to transport....was told that was all they had.....take it or leave it...didn't get to do what we wanted to do because 1 person had to be left out......she was rude at check in and she was rude at check out...refused to come and check the SUV ..maybe it's time for her to retire if she doesn't like her job.....get friendlier staff.....very disappointed to say the least
The check in was quick and easy. The car was cleaned and sanitized. The vehicle we rented was great on gas. Also, when my family and I decided to extend our trip an extra 2 days the staff were extremely helpful. Thank you.

I have never had worse service in my life. They have no idea how to deal with RBC Avion voucher. Now I have to spend hours to try and get my $1040 back that was already paid by points. It seems that this is the only airport in all my travels that are not trained to deal with this and do not have the computer technology to see that they where already paid. So it seems like a criminal offence to get paid $2080 for a $1040 rental. I am looking in to this as a option since I can get no help from anybody from Budget car rentals. Very unhappy customer and I would never give them a single star, but you have to otherwise it won't post
Service was excellent
The good--there was a shuttle we could call to get a ride from the cruise ship terminal to the rental office--and back to the pier at the end of the day. The shuttle was busy when we called, so we did have to wait for 20+ minutes. The driver was friendly, helpful and spoke about the city on our way to the office. The car was clean and they do a thorough job of checking and recording damages. The bad--the car rental process at the counter was very long--10+ more minutes. Given that I had to wait in a line for service, it took a long time compared to my usual car rental experience to get the car checked out. I was told that the software was old. The ugly--we had reserved a car seat for our 20 month old. I called the day before to make sure a car seat would be available. I was advised that car seats were on a first come, first serve basis. If a seat was not available, we could get one at the office up the road. Huh? We are supposed to violate the law driving up the road with our infant to get a car seat? It took about 1 hour to get to the office, stand in line and then get a car checked out, only to be advised that a infant car seat was not available. The clerk did call the rental office up the road to have a seat delivered and they ended up providing it free of charge. For liability reasons, they will not install the car seat, but an employee did kindly help us get it tightened. The drop off process was also slow, but we did get a ride back to the ship in time. Renting a car can be a lot less expensive than buying a tour, but be prepared to lose about an hour or more of your day. This office provides cars for a local repair shop so there was substantial a morning rush for both cruisers and people trying to get a car during their repair. I think the employees are doing the best they can under difficult circumstances created by an extremely slow rental process.
The girl that helped me at the airport was very kind. I entered the wrong arrival time but she called me to make sure I was still coming in and updated it for me. Always great service from Budget. Thanks!
Rented a vehicle from Budget in Saskatoon - the staff were extra friendly and made a great effort to make sure I was taken care of.
Friendly efficient staff with a great location within walking distance from the ferries, Kenmore/Harbour Air and other places in downtown Victoria. They were also easy to deal with when I had to quickly change my drop off location to the airport. Only small complaint is that they gave me a tiny pocket sized 3-inch scraper for a massive full-size SUV on a very snowy day! They should really have some larger snow brushes/scrapers around for times like that.

This location is super friendly. They always stay waiting for the last flight from Vancouver to arrive to ensure you aren't left in the lurch if your plane is delayed. The reason it is not a 5 star rating has more to do with budget corporate who informed us when our plane was delayed (and couldn't provide a number for the desk at the airport) that we were out of luck and the location closes on time as per their hours regardless if you have a reservation tied to your flight info. This of course led to a bit of stress and then sheer relief when landing and this not being the case.

Bad experience! Of many dozens of rentals from companies all over North America, this was by far the worst. They made serious errors & refused to correct. I will never again recommend them to family and colleagues.
The truck I received was not really that clean. It had a dirty steering wheel that made my hands stink and feel dirty right away. Somebody who rented before had obviously chose to smoke in the vehicle as the interior smelled like old smoke and there was a film of smoke on the inside of the windshield. A thorough cleaning, including laundering the seat covers, would make a big difference.

Great, but know that the entrance to the lot is not from Douglas Street, as I was told by the call center in Victoria. Look at a map. It is on the lot next to the address and the entrance is on the other side.

Pretty disappointed in this location. They allowed me to book a car for pickup at 12 on Monday September 6th. I was never made aware they close at 12 this day because of a holiday. They decided to all me the morning of when i was flying to Sydney to inform me they would be closed at 12. I got off my flight at 11:45 and by the time I got here to pick up my car I was left stranded having to get a hotel in Sydney for a night shorting the time I have visiting my family’s. Called them at 12:01 to see if they could wait a couple minutes and nobody would answer the phone. Worst customer service. You would think someone in customer service would have the decency to wait a couple extra minutes knowing they have a customer coming in at 12 for a pick up, prime example of their customer service.
I usually rent cars on the weekend. The lady working at the counter is a delight to deal with, always has a smile on her face and makes renting cars fast and easy. If you're in need of a rental car and live in the Garden City area, this is the place to go!

Zero stars. Overcharged by $300 and did not communicate a change in price. When I called to speak to a representative, I was hung up on. When I did get through, I was told that I would get a call back and that didn't happen. Staff could improve in communication and attention to detail (such as processing payments). Never rent from this company. Also note that there is only one good review for this location and several bad ones. The ratio doesn't lie.
My only contact was the website to arrange a rental on the weekend. No can do! They aren't open on the weekend! Utterly useless to me.
Twice now I've had great cars at amazingly good prices. The service staff are friendly and helpful; the last time, they helped me find a key I had lost in one of the rentals.
Horrible place
Watch the upgrade! Reserved a small vehicle for 4 days in May. Easy to deal with at a convenient location close to downtown. Upgraded to a larger vehicle which I accepted but it was not economical, had unreliable satnav and no manual in the glove compartment to sort out any issues. They did reduce the final charge to match the earlier quoted amount after I complained.
Fast, friendly service. The car was ready to go when we got there which isn't always the case when renting from other car rental businesses. Also, we got a crack in the windshield on our way home from our trip and budget made it easy to make the claim with our credit card company
Had a reservation for 230. Showed up at 231 and he said I have to wait 45 minutes because I’m late. Bunch of clowns here.
Excellent service. Jim the owner is terrific. Always helpful. Cars are always good. Reliable. Any issues ever come up they are swiftly resolved. Renting there for work over 8yrs. They always meet my expectations. Highly recommend. They are my GO TO GUYS.

After Enterprise losing my reservation and then treating me extremely rudely as though it was my fault, I wound up at Budget. They were polite and helpful and just terrific to deal with. I will definitely be going directly to Budget in future. Lesson learned.

Do not rent a car from this location!!! We had booked a mid-size car as we had to drive 4 hours after we arrived in Winnipeg. Upon arrival all they had left was a minivan with the engine light on. After convincing them to give us a different vehicle they gave us another minivan with less than a quarter tank of gas. Not 2 minutes after sitting in the parking lot waiting for the van to warm up we tried to go back and return the van they locked the door and were closed. So we had to go to the airport and get a different car after all of that which cost us twice as much. I repeat do not rent a car from this location!!!
I don't rent cars often but I will be using Budget on Mcphillips for my future rental car needs. I dealt with Tyler at the counter. He was very helpful, able to answer all the questions I had and made the rental process easy.

Extremely pissed off at this point. Came Friday to reserve a car with my hubby, to which the owner told us that it would be here ready for 9am for us to move when they opened. Sitting here now since 9am and the store is not open and have called and left messages and no one has answered. This is horrible customer service, as well as the fact that now we don't have a truck to move our house over. This is unacceptable!!!!!! I'm pregnant and 4 days overdue and we are trying to get our stuff moved into our new place as we just got possession...how can a store online and at the door say they open at 9 and then about an hour and a half later still not be open and not have the decency to even call or have a message saying why. We are not the only people waiting there are multiple people here waiting for their reservations and also wondering why this place isn't even open!!! No excuse!!!
If i could give this place zero stars, i would. My mom and I had a family emergency and needed to rent a vehicle. My mom booked the car, called the night before to confirm pick up at 7 am and she was assured that someone would be there and they had the reservation even though they open at 730. When she arrived, no one was there and attempted to call several times in a panic as we had a ferry to catch. When a employee finally showed up at 7:30, they were rude and said they had no idea what my mom was talking about, and didn't even have our reservation. They ended up giving my mom a gas guzzling SUV, when we asked for a econo car and that looked like it had not been cleaned. I called later in the day to speak with the manager and was given attitude and no name of the manager was given. Avoid this place at all costs. Thankfully a place like this will eventually drive their own business into the ground. Worst ever!!!!
Fabulous SUV, fantastic parksville office and great downtown Victoria office. One red headed fellow not so great in the car wash area. Otherwise just great even got a ride to the float plan.

Just dropped of my rental car which I agreed to rent for ONE day which I Had for ONE day yet get a bunch of bogus fees that were never shown on the initial contract. Because I'm 24 the cost PER DAY was $86.50 but they had written down TWO days. Every other company I rented with the fee was always fixed and all the fees and charges and tax was included in the price!!! Not supposed to be $160!!! If this is not fixed you lost another customer.

I do not recommend this place to any women. The man behind the counter kept leering at me. He also did not tell me about the after-hours dropbox, so I returned the car during open hours. He took an excessive amount of time processing my return while he kept taking creepy glances at me.

Budget in Barrie was a real life saver, especially Matt the attendant who went above and beyond by finding me a car that could do a one way trip to the province of Quebec. When all other rental places including in Toronto were issuing a straight « no », Matt who initially had no car available went to the extent of locating a car for me and calling me back with the good news. Recently rented a car with no windshield fluid.
I rent from budget every time I travel to victoria, b.c. The service is overall good, staff is pleasant and friendly. Unfortunately I don't always get the vehicle I want but its been ok. My recent rental experience was a 2 week rental . The main problem was the smell of the car and the cleaning agent that was used in the vents to mask the smell. Due to the long weekend, I was given a mid size car rather than a compact . There were no compacts available at all. When I turned on the heating/ air con , there was a sudden burst of white matter that sprayed all over the interior of the car, leaving a white residue all over the dashboard. I didn't think much about it initially, but every passenger that rode in the car complained about the smell . After about a week into my rental period, I developed a persistent dry cough which got worse towards the end of the 2 weeks that I had the car. I didn't think much about it, until a friend asked what the white stuff was all over the dashboard. I told her it came out of the vents when I first rented the car.. she was concerned that my cough may be a result of this substance that was in the ventilation system of the car. When I returned the car, I pointed this out to the person who inspected the car. He was surprised to see the white substance and said he would make a note of it. It's been 7 days since I returned the vehicle and I still have a dry cough. I'm not a difficult customer which is why I did not return the car right after seeing the white substance. Next time I will make my health a priority.
Billed $40 dollars a day for insurance I never agreed to. I've called them several times to try and resolve this issue, but they refuse to speak with me. Will avoid in the future. Would highly recommend avoiding this awful company and their predatory practices.
The staff here are great, my mother and i are both tall and we very much appreciated the upgrade we got. The new Chrysler Pacifica is a wonderfull vehicle.
People traveling alone with kids beware!!! ...If I could give zero stars I would... Being an organized mom I called in advance to book a car because I would be needing an infant car seat and a toddler car seat. When I arrived in Regina it was -30. Normal winter weather. With my hands full( baby straped to me in a carrier, pushing a toddler in an umbrella stroller, diaper backpack on my back and towing our suitcase in hand) I assumed that the car would be ready for me seeing as I called weeks in advance. Boy was I wrong.. The young guy at the counter took my credit card gave me the car keys and then he noticed I needed car seats he went into the back and proceeded to hand me a toddler car seat and a booster seat.. I had to explain that I needed a toddler car seat and an infant car seat... the guy gave me a blank look.He then got on a phone and called another guy and I was told someone would meet me at the car with a infant car seat. Cool.. NOT! The guy at the desk then explained to me where to find the car.. Yes so just go out the front doors cross two cross walks turn left follow the side walk then make a right and then it's the last parking lot. He then handed me the booster seat for my 2.5year old, wait what?! I then asked for help getting out to the car and he said he couldn't because he was the only one there... Oh great, so it's -30 out and you want me to carry everything I am already carrying and now a booster seat. So I bundle up my toddler and wrap my scarf around my infant strapped to me. I make my way out to the car in -30. With my now screaming baby and toddler because it is so cold out. I finally make it to the car by setting off it's alarm. Another young guy meets me at the car with a toddler seat.. I explain that I need an infant car seat like I requested when I called weeks ago.. he said that's all they have and leaves it at the car and walks away... oh wow thanks! So after struggling to get to the car I now have to install two car seats into the car with my screaming children in -30 weather. I manage to get the frozen doors open and start the car put my baby and toddler in the front seat then turn on the seat heaters. Shut the doors put everything in the trunk and set to work putting the car seats in. Toddler seat first. Toddler in seat and wrapped in a blanket one down one to go. Now the other toddler seat for my infant strapped after changing the settings so it will be rear facing so it will be safer for my baby. I notice that there is no where to anchor the back tether of the carseat. Oh wonderful. So I Jimmy rig it so it works. I can not stress enough how upset I was and still am. This was the most ridiculous thing I have ever experienced. I understand that yes they might not have been legally allowed to install the car seats. But to give me the incorrect seats after calling ahead to reserve the right ones and then having to make my way out to the car alone. I figured they would have at least brought the car to the front door of the air port. What a joke. That is completely unacceptable. I have since called and spoken to a manager. Who just said sorry and nothing more. Now I have cancelled my next reservation and will be taking my business elsewhere. I will also be telling everyone and anyone who asks about car rental companies to never use Budget. Sincerely, Extremely disappointed customer.
I have rented many times from this place, very friendly staff and always ready to help. More than half of this credit is for LIANE, always helping Customer with a Smile and positive Vibes..
I get the whole liability for N drivers but that's bogus. You should have it written on the website stating you cannot rent the car to an N driver.. my boyfriend wasted half hour going downtown thinking he would have a car only to be told he wasn't get a car rental.
