Charged $15 for a $10 upgrade. Charged a $300 authorisation fee twice. So I paid over $600. Refused to drop us off to our hotel which was less than a 5 min drive from the location. So we walked to our hotel with our luggage. Very disappointed with this Hertz location.

I always rent with hertz over the competition, but I have been hiring cars at this location for over 4 years and they were always very welcoming and explained every fees there is if I ever needed an explanation. They also give you a thorough explanation of the steps to do in order to return the car. I never had hidden fees I could not explain and I was always charged the amount specified online when I returned the car on time. I think people are just a little bit whinny on the internet... but for my part, it’s very pleasant experience every time.
I rent here several times a month and the staff is always incredible and super friendly. The cars are always clean, well maintained, and with low mileage.

Terrible terrible customer experience. No staff at the drop off spot, resulting walk back and forth couple of times between the parking lot and the office in the cold weather which ruined our day! The parking lot is small af and shared with other valet parkings. Two guys at the parking lot don’t work for Herz, keep giving out wrong information. The lady at the office is rude with a Don’t-make-me-tell-you-twice attitude. The price will double if you book at the office instead of Expedia.

I STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST DOING BUSINESS WITH HERTZ IN QUEBEC CITY Here is a list of things i consider quite unethical and that shows that hertz in Quebec city doesn't deserve to be in business anymore. this review is applicable for both the downtown location and the one at the airport. 1. as I have been told multiple time, for hertz, a car is a car ! meaning that a reservation doesn't mean your gonna have the compact car you reserved, even if you booked it 8 months ago. instead your gonna have a nice SUV or mini van because that's all they have in their fleet at the moment. those kind of change in a reservation can cause a lot of trouble : some credit card doesn't cover SUV on their included insurance for rental cars, in a lot of cases the credit card doesn't cover mini van and if you booked a compact car in most case you booked it because you wanted a car that's easy to park and that doesn't consume to much gaz. in all cases it add up quite a lot of unaccounted fees to your travelling, but unfortunately hertz inst here to help you get on the road as fast as possible, their only reason to live as a company is to suck every penny out of their precious customer base. 2. Before entering this place make sure that you know every thing about your insurance policy on rental cars. they will try to sell you their protection packages by trying to scare you, telling you that without it they could charge up to the total value of the car on the credit card that you have on file. 3. Never consider the clerk behind the counter as a potential source of recommendation. they are instructed to tell you that they recommend the priciest thing that they have available as additional service , even tho the clerk knows for sure that you don't need those services. 4. you will sometime get a good rate , but i hope you don't need a gps or a child seat. both of these item you can buy for 40$ at the supermarket, they will charge 15$ per even if you rent for a month. 5. Don't book at the office the price will at least be double the price you could get on any third party website such as Expedia and Rantalcars. 6. If you book at the office, ask about what the rates includes. the clerk behind the counter is instructed to give you pricing including the complete premium protection package (witch cost 40$ per day ) even if you only asked for a simple car without anything else and they wont tell you that they did add those additional service if you don't ask about what is included in your rate. Please keep your business out of this place. They really don't care about their customer and i hope the examples above shows it .

My family and I were visiting. Due to flight problems, our car rental arrangement at the airport was blown up. To make it worse, my wife broke her arm while ice skating. Both Jean and Manfred helped us fix our arrangement and even worked around my wife's medical schedule. Got us booked in the SUV we needed and were as nice as could be. I'd give more stars if I could!

Excellent service. Opens earlier than other renters in town. Flexible return hours. Cars are great. Price is good. Location unbeatable in the heart of historic district. I strongly recommend.
Unlike most car rentals, you cannot do a late return. They don’t let you return the car past 5:00PM. They also charge you if you are “late.” If you have the car for 24 hours, you have 24 hours and 29 minutes to return it or you are charged. Charged a lot. They didn’t tell us this, but regardless we were rushing and stressed to get the car back before it closed. We had our car back in time, but the front desk clerk was on the phone for about 10 minutes while we waited to talk to him. So when he calculated the return time initially, he said we returned it 3 minutes later than check out time and was going to charge us $90!!! We pointed out that we were there on time and he was on the phone during that time, so he rescinded the charge. But isn’t that insane!?!? $90 for 3 minutes. There’s also barely any parking on the street by the Hertz. Would not recommend getting a car from a place that doesn’t let you do late contactless return without charging you. Get your car from somewhere else so you don’t have to stress!
The staff member on hand was very friendly and helpful. Provided us with a map of the area and spent a good 5 minutes chatting about our touring plans and highlighting our map with points of interest and ideal routes. $25 for a car for the day was 100% worth it.

The purpose of a reservation 4 weeks before your planned date of requirement is to ensure you have a car available. We got a call the day before our reservation letting us know the reservation was cancelled as there were no cars available. I know rental places don’t like to rent cars that are picked up in one spot and delivered to another but it’s an option they give you, this was booked in advance and was our transportation to Montreal on Thanksgiving weekend. We had to scramble to find an alternate way to get to Montreal by late afternoon for a flight. Being the long weekend we did find space on the train at a much higher price as we are now booking last minute and space was limited. Beyond disappointed by Hertz. I was also told to call customer service, I called and they told me to call the rental agency which I had already done. Customer service was going to have somebody call me back which has never happened. Again the whole point of reserving a car in advance is so you have transportation organized, not being stranded and having to find some way to travel 3 hours on a busy holiday weekend. Terrible way to run a business.
We needed a car for a day while visiting Quebec City. The Hertz location is tucked away among small little retail shops and beside the Tim Hortons (in case you can't find it). Easy transaction, nice car, and the return was just as quick and easy. Thanks!

It is a little difficult to see where exactly to leave the car back. The actual car entrance is a few meters before the Hertz office. It was a carpark that said it was closed. However a small sign instructs Hertz customers to enter. We were ushered in by a car park employee. Area on ground floor to park car is very dark and confined. Helpful Hertz employee took possession of car and told us to bring paper work to office that is a few meters away. Slight issue about whether car was exactly full (we had just filled up, guage was one needle width under full thoigh) but this was quickly and satisfactorily resolved in office.
We always rent from Hertz and typically always have a great experience. This experience was beyond excellent with this Hertz location. Pick up and drop off was friendly and a breeze. Left my glasses in the middle console and I had fifteen min to spare before they closed and a ten min walk back to Hertz. So I left my husband at the hotel and quickly walked back. Five minutes away I decided to call to let them know I’m coming back in hopes they hadn’t closed up shop early. The gentleman that picked up the phone on Sunday, Sept 20 at 4:55pm let me know that he left a message with my husband hoping to catch us before we got too far from the place. I was quite surprised and so thankful that he took the time to let him know. It’s this kind of service, that extra little something he did that I think is beyond what is expected for good customer service. This gesture made his service super excellent! I really appreciated it and I’m sure you would too. Thank you, Hertz!

Rented a car in Burlington VT to take on a trip to Montreal and Quebec City. The price was expensive but I appreciated the service in Burlington. The woman was lovely there. After a week on my vacation, I picked up friends in Quebec City. I wanted to add a driver from that day until the end of the trip (7 days later). They would not allow me to add a driver unless I added them from the beginning of the rental time (that would be 2.5 weeks ~ I wanted 7 days). To add the driver at that point, I would need to pay the daily rate from the beginning totaling over $250. Very unfriendly and unhelpful man in the Quebec Airport Hertz office. I ended up turning in the car and renting another car from Enterprise so we could have several drivers. I will never rent from Hertz again.
