If you make multiple bookings, the owner (Aseem Khan) will personally call you and talk to you in a derogatory tone and threaten to cancel your bookings. Today I picked up a car at Budget Rent a Car located at Winnipeg Airport. The staff member Julie was awesome! She upgraded our car and that just made our day. She was very kind, polite and efficient. It was a pleasant experince from start to finish. We were earlier than I had originally reserved but that was ok. It was a super easy process and we were in and out in about 20 minutes. Made sure I had enough money on my credit card only to find out it was going to cost triple my quote for extra hold fees. No where in any of my information does it tell me this. DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LOCATION!!!!!! They are rude & they do not spend time with you when you are ending your rental. I filled the gas up and dropped the keys off. I cam inside because it was windy & they were telling me that the gas was not full and they were going to surcharge me despite me showing a receipt. I wrote a complaint to budget & they just shrugged it off stating it sounded like a peak time & it was a one off. There was 1 other person in the room. I

First time with budget oct 14-16 2015 I usually use enterprise. The service wasn't great or polite ...I didn't get navigation like I was supposed to ...for a Chevy Cruze the Bluetooth wasn't even enabled option and I got a dirty car -wasn't super dirty but had someone's garbage under the seat and dog food crumbs in the trunk .....during rainstorm could smell wet dog smell...my drop off was at the airport ....drop off box had no pen and neither did we and couple other people also rented....a budget employee was dropping a car off ...when we asked a question they swore at us and just kept walking away. Last and only time I would use budget !

I grabbed my baggage at the airport, and was driving away in my rental car within 10 minutes. When I dropped it off to fly out, it took about 5 minutes. The car was great, and the staff were helpful and extremely nice.

Convenient counter right by the baggage pickup at Victoria airport. Friendly staff. Efficient service. Very good price...all in $140 Cdn for 4 days at Mid-size (was a new Elantra). Pro tip: We bought insurance from Manitoba Public Insurance before we left at $4 per day vs the very expensive rental car company daily rate. Make sure to fill the car before returning as there is a premium rate for gas they pump when you forget. Also they ask if you want to pay for a GPS but your phone will do the same thing for free.

I have rented cars from here many times and I only one complaint. It costs extra to get a car ($12 per day) and most of the time none of the cars available have snow tires. In my opinion, snow tires should be the standard for all the cars in the winter.

Absolutely appalling service. The staff are very unprofessional and disrespectful, particularly Obby. My family and I travel to Calgary regularly and every time we rent a car. we have rented cars many many time before and have had all sort of experiences. Yet, this is by far our worst experience dealing with rental car companies! Will never ever go back here and do not recommend them to anyone. I booked a full-size car for my mom a week before her trip online. On the pick-up date, they gave her a Hyundai Elantra and said it’s a full-size car!! Once I confronted them about it and told them that we would like to get the full-size car that we‘ve paid for and reserved, with utmost disrespect, they told my mom that she can come back in 2 days to get that car. Even though my mom was staying 1 hour drive away from Calgary in Kananaskis, she decided to go back to change the car. Once she is back, they say they still don’t have the full-size car ready for her and she needs to come back in 5 hours to pick it up. After wasting 5 hours in Calgary, she goes back in the evening just to find out that this time they are offering her a KIA Forte - another COMPACT car saying it’s full-size. Absolutely ridiculous and terrible!! Having to deal with Obby and having to travel back and forth, ruined my mom’s entire trip. They are dishonest and unjust. Our biggest mistake was not to cancel our booking right away and go to other much better companies like Enterprise Rent-A-Car or Routes Car Rental with who we’ve had great experiences before.

I wish there was a rating for a negative 100 stars. I rented from this location 6 times in a row within a 6 week period. They were 100% aware that I had a fully insured vehicle in the dealership having warranty work done on it. Knowing it was the last time I was going to rent from them, the manager of the store tricked me into getting extra insurance for what ever his reason was. $88 for two days to be exact. When I called to complain he said there is nothing he can do. When I asked to talk to his boss, he said he doesn’t have a phone number I can call. Infuriated, I called another budget store and got the info to contact Edmonton’s head office. Highly don’t recommend this store. Con artist and scammers.

If there was an option to give 0 stars i would have gone for that,me and my girlfriend picked up a truck from winnipeg airport we found some scratches on the fog light when we did a walk around,the truck was parked in the parkade where it was dark,she went in to bring it to the attention of the agent who she asked to come out and have a look at the scratches and do a walk around with us,but he refused as he was busy,we picked up the truck drove off,when we brought the truck back it was the same agent who was there when we picked up the truck,as we got to the counter to return the truck he was very rude and unfriendly right off the bat,he went out to the truck and came back and said there is a rock chip on the windshield and the windshield will have to be replaced,we were shocked as we did not see any chips on the windshield when we picked up the truck and did not have any damage to the windshield while driving so i asked him to show me the chip so goes out to the truck and it took him a few minutes with a flashlight to find the very slight chip/crack in the windshield,how do they expect a naked eye to see it while doing a pretrip inspection,and the chip /crack was so small and it would not warrant a windshield replacement,once i confronted him he got very defensive and rude (more than he initially was) we asked for his name as he did not have any name tags he very reluctantly wrote his name on an piece of paper his name is shahroz,I have taken the pictures of windshield if the matter does escalate i will not hesitate to drag these scammers to the court,i hope someone from the management reads it and cares for this business will not have that agent deal with customers.I think we were set up and are extremely disappointed with the unfriendly and callous way we were treated and to top it off they are trying to gouge us a deductible to replace the windshield,its a SCAM i would definitely not be going to Payless or Budget car rental ever again.

I had a really bad experience with these guys. I rented the car for two days and while signing the contract WAN told me that I can return the car by 12:00 noon while my time to return was 9:30 AM. When I returned it, it was around 11:30 AM and WAN wasn't there. BAB, who was on the counter charged me for an extra day ($82) and said he cannot do anything and I should talk to WAN. Today I had the chance to talk to WAN and he denied every single conversation we had. He was literally talking to me in a manner as if I owe him $82 and not returning it to him. I was a loyal budget customer until this point. And one more thing, I'm seeing a lot of good reviews about BAB and WAN. I don't know about BAB, but WAN seriously! This guys being a customer service representative was yelling at me on phone while I was asking for a refund. I remember once a budget employee was asking me to provide a good review on Google and he would give me some discount the next time. That might be my justification to such reviews. And if anyone from bugdet management is reading this, please arrange workshops for your employees on customer relationship development.

The representative took full responsibility for the mistakes of the other location, apologized profusely and exchanged our vehicle with no hesitation. I was a long time customer of Budget for most of my car rentals, but after this annoying experience with this location, I would not recommend renting from them (but particularly this location) again. From the budget.ca website, I had set up a pre-paid car rental contract for which I was to start renting from 12:30 AM (the website allowed me to book for this time). It states on your contract when you prepay online that you must pick up your car rental at the time set on your reservation, otherwise your rate can change. However, when I got to budget's car rental counter, no one was there to serve me (basically, they closed up for the day, even though I was there 15 minutes prior to the start of my car rental contract). This caused a problem with my travel plans and traveling on a tight schedule. I was given the manager Gary Swann's contact information and tried to reach him, but I could never get a hold of him and he did not respond to my email either. Therefore, I had to call the main budget office to complain, and they also never bothered getting back to me, and I had to call them back to deal with the issue after 2 weeks of not hearing from them. All the representative offered me in the end was a $15 one time courtesy for the inconvenience (was expecting them to cover the cost of my rental for this mishap). I thought it was really poor customer service as they also did not seem to care that their mistake impacted my travel arrangements and took for granted the business I gave them. So if you like to rent from budget and you are needing a car once you land in Winnipeg, do your self a favour and AVOID renting from this Budget location!

I have to rent a vehicle 2-3x a month for business travel, and have been dealing with this location for a few years. All of the staff (but especially Bab and Wan) have always been incredibly helpful, prompt and quick to resolve any concerns. There have never been any billing surprises, and everything has always been very clearly and accurately presented to me. I would happily recommend this location to anyone in the downtown area needing a rental vehicle!

I first loved the experience and expected fair return but was charger 113$ on top of my already agreed price of 355$. This promise was made after sigh offs on the papers for discharge of 355$, they told me they would wave the editional day charges as they did not tell me to drop it off in an open store location on Sunday. Here we go. Had competitive rates between them and Avis but if you add on all the insurance it ends up being quite expensive. Inside the terminal, the staff were very slow and they had a sign saying there’s a new computer system. Answer: Train your staff to use the computer software!?? Simple answer. Already annoyed waiting 40mins we head outside again to the booth in the parking lot. Budget employee was making side comments as he gave us our vehicle when we finally got it. Was annoying and he was trying to be funny. He then wanted us to sign the vehicle off without acknowledging the previous damage. Just was a horrible experience. Also you get charged for stupid things like connecting your phone through Bluetooth.

Fair play to the staff at this location. They did call and advise I might not get the luxury class I booked. I said that's fine as long as they discount my rental. They put in a request to get one for me. They actually delivered on this request hence my positive review. They did actually did have the luxury class vehicle in the end. This was great and it was a new Cadillac CT5. The car was great for touring the island as we didn't want an SUV. Check in was really quick. Car was clean.

Wow, I was a customer at enterprise for such a long time & decided to switch to Budget this time just to see .. these reviews are right. I rented an SUV for 3 weeks & the second day someone had told me that my tail light was out (we didn't check those during the walk around), so I called budget - which by the way, good luck getting through to them! it took 30 mins for me to get someone on the line! I was connected to someone and they told me that they will have an SUV on hold for me the next day so I can just go in and switch. To no surprise, I get to Budget and there is only small compact cars & the lady told me there was NO suv on hold for me.. cool so now I paid for an SUV and got a smaller car & to add on to this, they CHARGED me for "damage to the taillight" when clearly the taillight had hail damage on and around the whole car. Currently I am out $700 for "damaging" the car, and also out another 200-300$ for a car that wasn't even on hold for me! WORST SERVICE. DONT COME HERE.

Car is good. Service is mediocre. Arrived there on a Monday, super not busy. One person was being served by another employee. Behind the counter were 3 other people. 1 with arms crossed. 2 others fiddling around with I think filling up the printer. I stood there a good 1 minute before asking if I was in the right line. I don't mind waiting if you gotta wrap things up or fix something, but 3 people in the back? One doing nothing? And I wasn't acknowledged at all. It's like I didn't exist. But they saw me.

Efficient online reservation and payment tool. The staff at the 73 Kennedy Rd South Branch are efficient quick. They had me processed and in a car in under 20 mins. However, their cars do.NOT have winter tires. I had a little Chevy Sonic. And it was sliding around everywhere. I was only driving at 25-35 km/h. When I called to discuss with the manager, he wouldn't listen. He just kept saying "Ontario law says we can put all season tires" and "drive according to the conditions". I tried to explain that all season tires are not appropriate for Canadian winters, especially in a snow storm. These people don't protect their cars, their investments, or their customers.

Lack of professionalism and honesty. I booked an intermediate car few weeks ago. I was given Hyundai Accent compact car and was told that this is their intermediate car which was a lie. Then when I declined to rent the car and advised that I will give them very honest customer review in google, guy changed his tone and offered me Chevy Malibu full size car for the same price! I appreciate the cool upgrade, but his dishonesty about the car class and attitude was very disappointing at the first place.

Always rented car with budget in past but never again gonna rent specially with this location at Winnipeg airport. Went to pick up my rental yesterday night on sep 13th which i Prepaid weeks in advance and the reservation agent out of his own ignorance refuse to give me car stating my license wasn't full. Even though same location rented me car back in April on same license. I went to MPI today to find out and MPI agent told me there was no problem with my licence it's just rental agent was too careless to check details on my license and I indeed have full license without restrictions. Not sure why budget hires incompetent people who dosen't care enough to check and accommodate customers instead they like to state and i quote" i can show you corporate policy". They definitely lost me as a customer. Cherry on top they didn't even refund me my money. Worse customer service ever . Hats off to nationals car rental for renting me a car. Bad service wont recommend anyone to get a car from them ever, they dont pick the phones and the staff is greedy to get money from people, I tried calling them and they did not pick the call and then took 70% extra money for being half an hour late. Very unprofessional and I was not happy at all. I read other comments and I see the staff has been rude to other people as well, it was a lady working and she was very rude, I hope the owners actually take measures towards it, and may be the staff can actually pick up the call when a client is calling them. It was a very frustration episode.

Also didn't allow me to use my corporate discount. When I questioned it she seemed offended. You could tell she's definitely someone who hates her life. I would highly recommend Budget for your next rental requirement. Car I received (Full-sized car, Ford Fusion, AWD), was excellent on fuel, easy to figure out the, what appeared to be complex control system (Entertainment, Climate control, etc). Only complaint that I have is that being Winter, a jug of windshield washer fluid was not provided nor was an ice scraper / snow brush. Found this very odd and was a slight inconvenience since, where I did travel to, did receive a sizeable amount of snow and I had no broom or brush at my disposal. Needed to wait for someone else in the parking lot to offer one up. Aside from that, I would rent from Budget all over again. Great price, excellent value for vehicle I was assigned.

First off, the people who work at this Budget are really nice and are doing the best with what they have. What do they have? Out-of-date technology systems and an overload of customers that they can't support with their current staffing and broken infrastructure. I've been to this Budget three times this year and each time have had to wait over a solid hour for my vehicle. Each time they have blamed it on slow or broken computers or printers or phones. Earlier this year, Budget closed two of their inner city rental locations - I don't get why they didn't relocate some of the most experienced staff and funnel some of the working technology into this location. Furthermore, as a Fastbreak customer, I have always experienced great service from the other (now former) downtown Budget location but this location does not honour Fastbreak for pickups or returns. I really hope Budget head-office takes notice of what is happening at this location and tries to implement some improvements quickly. There are still other rental agencies in the Calgary core and while their prices are generally higher than Budget's, they can usually get a rental out in less than half-an-hour even when busy. Honestly, the only thing that makes my visits enjoyable are the helpful and kind (albeit obviously overworked and stressed) staff.

After renting a van for a week in April 2019, we returned it and filled it with gas, as requested, at the gas station nearest the airport. When returning it, the vehicle was inspected by the budget/Avis staff and everything was signed off on. We then received a bill several weeks later claiming we had not filled the tank. I called and left a voicemail explaining that we had indeed filled it with gas and had the credit card purchase as proof. I received no response. Nearly a year later, we received a notice that budget/Avis sent the fee for collection and that we still owed. We paid it rather than deal with the collection company, but we will no longer use budget/Avis while travelling. Warning to others, keep copies of gas receipts as proof as this business may try to scam you as well.

This was, by far, the best car rental experience I've had. The check-in was painless, and when I asked if there was anybody out by the cars to help me with my bag (I have a broken wrist) the lady at the desk called out and the guy helping with returns came right over to help with my luggage. When I brought the car back, the same guy was there and grabbed my bag out of the back for me without me needing to mention it. Google please allow me zero rating. I rented a car with them around 2 weeks ago. The lady at the counter was super smart at upselling and offered me only 2 choices for fuel - either I make the tank full before returning or let Budget refuel it. Never gave me option to pre-purchase the gas. On the day of return, I wasted my time on gas station trying to open the gas tank slot but there were no buttons inside the car..well I ended up returning the car without refuelling and these cheater charged me 2.99 per litre when the gas price was around $1.07. I called the company 4 times and eventually and was told that I should have pre purchased the fuel. I told them I was not given this option and instead of believing me, they said they cannot go back to what conversation tool place. Oh about the car, they told me that I should have opened the gas tank slot by inserting something like a key (so that I end up making a scratch on the car and they could charge me even more) - sweet business. Stay away from Budget Victoria Airport and their crappy cars.

Liars and thiefs! I flatly refused for any additional insurance, and yet have been charged. When I returned the vehicle today and complained the attendant stated the "manager" would not be available until January 2, 2019, and if I had a concern to contact the call centre. I rent regularly from yyj but have only used Avis. Please, please at all costs use Avis when renting at Victoria airport. Budget staff should be ashamed of themselves. Final total of a 3 day rental cost over $100 more than the original booking. Even with advising counter staff I did NOT need additional insurance.

I booked a car from Victoria Budget Car Rental's own website, for my wife to pick up in Victoria airport on Dec 4, 2015. Budget formally quotes CAN$214.61 for 1 week, with all the details and a confirmation # 21609197CA1. When my wife arrived on time and went to pick up the booked car, Budget changes her more than $400. She tried to argue by showing them the printed reservation. Would not recommend this location based on poor quality vehicles and lack of integrity from their billing: Just got off the phone with this location to get my most recent rental invoice fixed. Got a rental through Costco at this location. The attendant at the desk went through the usual checklist items and told me that we get a free additional driver because it's Costco. I wasn't even planning to put a second driver until she mentioned it so I added my friend. First car we received had many scratches and the tire pressure monitoring system light was illuminated. The driver side rear tire was nearly flat. I told the staff and they told me to drive it to the maintenance bay for them to fill up the air. After attempts to fill the air didn't work, the maintenance staff told me I should ask for a replacement vehicle because the tire might be damaged. I go back to speak to the staff and got a replacement that was a luxury full size. The car itself was quite scratched up but drove fine. After returning the vehicle, I get emailed my final receipt and there is a $10 per day charge on it for an additional driver. I emailed back asking about that charge and was told they would discuss with the manager. After a week with no response, I emailed again asking for someone to call me about that charge. I got no call and finally had to call the Victoria airport location disputing that charge. Only then was it refunded and a new receipt sent. Why does this office need a song and dance to be able to get the original quoted rates? Looking at the other reviews, it appears this isn't an isolated incident with this location.

Ignored on entering 2. Then being spoken to in the most dismissive manner 3. Given every reason under the sun I couldn't use the code (even AFTER speaking to the executive office at my company) 4. The reason I couldn't use the code changed everytime they were given a legitimate answer from bith myself and the head office 5. Told they couldn't believe a call to my phone was from the company - so had the company call them directly on their phone so they could see it was exactly the same. Then explained that they just didn't want to give me the car. Absolutely incredulous! My company is taking their (BIG) business from Budget. There is absolutely no excuse for treating anyone like that. Hertz provided me a car at a cheaper rate and with the EXACT same ID that budget would not accept along with exceptional customer service.

I often wonder how many people are coming to Victoria for the first time and this is the first interaction they have - with this Budget company. No one is friendly or helpful. It is all about upselling - though curious how you have so many extra vehicles to upsell to people but when people were asking if you had any available to rent you said no?? How does that work? There is a reason why they have cheaper rentals then their competitors at the airport it's because no one would come to them if they didn't. On our way back after parking and removing our 2 kids, 2 car seats and 2 sets of luggage we asked if we could have an airport cart to help carry everything. The gentleman said no they didn't have any and walked away. My husband had to walk to the airport to get one and bring it back. What happened to basic customer service!? You may be cheaper but we will never go back.

Absolutely atrocious customer service. I will never use or recommend budget again. The staff were not helpful and said that my major credit card would not work. Even though I have used it for many rentals before. They told me I was out of luck and literally sent us out onto the street - we had the vehicle reserved for a month prior and we're stuck in downtown Calgary saturday at 4pm without a rental. We called Enterprise and they picked us up and took us to their closest rental outlet and gave us a better deAl then with Budget and the staff were so nice and helpful and cared about our experience. I honestly don't understand why so many bad reviews... I have rented cars from this location for 4 times now. Usually convertibles. Super quick to get the car and no pressure of selling me insurance and stuff. Last time I rented a BMW 430i. Car was great and so much fun but the only problem was that inside of the car was really dirty and dusty... We had to clean it ourselves. Other than that no other issues. I will be back in July and have already booked my car with these guys.

Don’t rent here! I booked a car for my cousins wedding online weeks in advance but when I showed up there was no cars! My booking was for noon and the wedding was at 4pm. When I showed up at noon they told me a car wouldn’t be available until 4pm. Um why did you even let me book it for noon then? I don’t think they even realize that people depend on them to have a car available if you confirm a booking. No apologies whatsoever either. They can’t even refund you on the spot: you have to call them! Just the worst experience and will never book with them again.

DON'T EVER RENT FROM HERE. I would give - star if I have option for that. I have 2 stories to mention here. 1. I rented car 1st time from here as the person was being super nice and gave me good discount. And I also told him that I will return it after hours because I was working afternoon shift at that time and he said fine. So I dropped it after 12 midnight so they charged me for 1 extra day so I called that store "so called" manager next day and she told me that she will call me back as she is busy right now. So, I waited 2 days for her call but she did not call me. Finally when I call her she told me that I returned car after midnight that's why they have charged me for 1 extra day and I accept that. 2. I rented a car again because of good rates. This time that car tyre went flat as I was coming back from walmart. So I use the spare tyre. When I went to return that car, the same person was leaving so I asked him where should I put this keys. He told me to drop it in drop box. So I did. Couple of days after, when I checked my credit card bill, that person charged me for 1 extra day as I drop it in drop box after hours, I said you told me to do so. So I was and I am still trying to get the manager but nobody is picking up my call and nobody calls me back. And also They charged me $170 for 1 tyre. Bloody cheaters.

We ordered a mid-sized SUV on Expedia from Budget and got a fantastic fairly new Nissan Rogue, equipped with all the bells and whistles one can imagine, more than I expected from a rental car. Booked thru Costco got a great deal, but when we arrived at Budget they were very forceful about getting extras which we really did not need. Then they did the prepayment of gasoline saying we should get it, as it is the long weekend & gas will go up. Which it did not go up so when we returned our vehicle we only used a 1/4 of a tank but they charged us for a full tank of gasoline, That is crazy so I am paying for someone else gasoline, I do Not like their tactics how they treat people, So I will not go back to Budget in Victoria Airport... they are a big ripoff.

I've rented here twice and understand that it's super difficult for rental agencies right now with shortages. This could be rectified with communication, but it seems the staff here don't know how to communicate. Had a cargo van reserved for early morning, received a call within half an hour of closing time the night before informing me that there was an issue with the windshield seal on the unit that I was supposed to pick up the next day. I was told that I could have the van still but not until 10am (two hours after I had planned to start my day) and my options were pick it up when it's done or cancel my reservation. I understand completely that it's out of the company's control for something to be returned in need of repair but I was offered NOTHING in way of compensation for my inconvenience, not even a small discount. Again, completely out of their control to need to repair the unit, but completely within their control to exercise better customer service and at least offer more than the "Take it or leave it" options I was given. I will never go back.

It was the worst experience I had. I booked 1 month before my car. I told them I only have a debit card. They told me it's okay. When I am arrived inside, the guy was not nice, we started and at the end, he told me no finally I can't take your debit card. I said at the phone you told me yes. I’ve never had anything but great service and would recommend this location to anyone. My car is always ready when I need it and staff go out of their way to make sure I was satisfied with my car when I return it. I told him that I’m renewing my driving license since I change address and he should have a copy of my old license in file since I was in this office few weeks back but he still acting rude and not helpful by all mean for whatever reason So basically they lost my future business since I walk away and went to National car rental in 5th Ave. and they were super nice and presented my documents and got a free upgrade on spot It seems that common sense doesn't always make sense for some people !!

I have mixed feelings about this place. Renting a car from them was a good experience as the associates were very polite. However when it came to BILLING, it has been a nightmare. Upon renting a car from an associate, i was informed of the fuel service option. I did not know if I would have time to fuel the rental so I asked the associate if I could fuel the car if I had time but leave the fuel option on as a backup. The associate told me that he would write on my rental agreement to remove the fuel charge if I returned the tank full. I returned the tank full at a different location and was charged the almost 100 bucks for fuelling. I understood that it was a different location, so I simply called back the 6th ave Sw location to have that money refunded. The associate told me he would speak to his manager and then later informed me that the manager could refund me the money. The associate told me he would call me back to let me know when everything was complete. I have not heard from anyone since Friday and i have called and left a voicemail and still no returned call or refund of my money. To make matters worse, when i call I only get the voicemail. The fact that the associate wrote on my rental agreement and signed off on it that I can remove the fuel option should allow me to be refunded. I’m sorry but I am incredibly frustrated and annoyed.

If I could give a half star rating I would! This location repeatedly fails to provide the class of car I reserve (months in advance) and lies to me about the availability of vehicles, then offers rental rejects or more costly vehicles that do not meet my needs and charge me for the vehicle before I even return it. This is a franchise and they did not answer one of my 12 calls to their offices. I was repeatedly disconnected from their automated phone lines and when I finally did get through to a live person (twice) I was put on hold and my call never picked back up!!! I will never - I WILL NEver - I WILL NEVER - rent from Budget car company again for any reason whatsoever!!! They are liars, they are cheats and their cars are lemons. I need a car that meets my driving needs and is able to safely hold my belongings and transport my passengers safely - I am NOT renting the vehicle to line the pockets of Budget employees or just to keep you employed. We have been on the phone for TWO HOURS trying to extend a car rental. This location does not participate in the Budget call centre assistance program. So you can only CONTACT THEM DIRECTLY to make any changes to your rental. This would be great. Only they NEVER answer their phone. We have been put in a constant loop and have been given the run around. This is absolutely disgusting treatment of clients. Their phone has been on call forwarding all day so we are just getting redirected to the USA where they are unable to make any changes. What a waste of time.

I was not even shown the car, they just handed over the rental car keys, paper work and told me to go and take the car. Whereas enterprise rental person used to take me to car, inspect the car for any issues, check mileage, explain what other plans or addons I can add.

They had plenty of staff available to assist, so no lines. The vehicle was clean and in good condition, with low mileage. The staff even showed us how to convert the back storage area of the vehicle into additional seating. There is no staff to check you back in when you return the vehicle, so simply take a photo of the mileage and fuel level and bring the keys to the desk in the airport.

Poor customer service. They cannot process any transactions without the card 'swiping' on their archaic machine even though i preregistered online. I was told the transaction would not be processed because the reservation could not be honored. When I checked my statement, they did in fact bill me. I phoned the Winnipeg location, was told I should have been able to keep my reservation, and I was told to phone their customer service number for a refund. Horrible customer service, would not recommend.

Booked a full size. They said there was no full sizes and gave me a weird deliver van turned mini van. Got out to the parking lot and saw 5 full size cars!? After traveling all day with 2 kids was to tired to fight with guy at desk. Worst part was told vehicle had amazing fuel economy which as a lie! Had two good experiences at budget, out of almost ten now, and the rest have been awful. Horrible and unreliable service. Would recommend going to a more reputable company. Maybe it's just this location but the manager (?) has "made us a reservation" on two separate occasions only for us to go in and be told "we don't have you on file." They closed the store early today when we had a reservation for four. At no point did he tell us that they closed at four, after having spoken to him multiple times to confirm our reservation. We arrived at 4:05 (not knowing the location was closed at 4) and not only was he no where in sight, but we were never called or told that no one would be around. Must have packed up early because he was long gone when we got there. Very, very unimpressed by how unprofessional this branch is, not sure how the rest of the company is but due to our multiple poor experiences we will not be returning. Will be filing a formal complaint with the owner or regional manager of budget, whoever is above the worker who always jerks ur around.

Had a horrible experience picking up our rental today. We prebooked our rental months ago and waited an hour at the service desk (to clarify there was not a long line, it took the customer service woman 45 mins to sort out our prebooked rental)! Despite booking months ago the vehicle we booked was not available for us. Then the customer service woman walked away from helping us twice when people butt ahead the line. When we got to our hotel we looked over our copy of the rental agreement to discover that despite clairifying several times with the service agent our agreement does not match what we were told.

We rented a car from the Winnipeg Airport - travelling to Calgary prior to return and the Budget folks were very curteous. The car was a 2015 VW Jetta in excellent condition and maintenance. We were very happy with the service both at pick-up and drop-off. Staff were efficient / quick in ensuring we knew key points about the vehicle at pick-up and that the drop-off was handled efficiently. We really appreciated that Budget didn't price gouge for us to return the car to Calgary. Very good value and excellent service! I would highly recommend Budget after this experience.

Keep in mind that when renting a car at the Winnipeg airport they do not walk through and inspect the car with you. When I picked mine up, late at night, I did not notice the small ding in the door. I called the next morning only to be told that I would have to file an incident report ( for something I didn't do). What was more ridiculous was the guy decides to ask me if my husband rented the car (Seriously!). He assumed I was married and because I'm a woman that I couldn't have rented a car by myself. In this day and age you do not treat a paying female customer like that...????. When I returned the car the man was very nice and let me know the ding was nothing to worry about as people drive the cars on country roads. Not worth the stress of renting here.

I recently visited the 6Avenue branch (9/6/2017) and was served by the incredible Bab and Wan. I feel like they went beyond the call of duty in order to exceed the customer's expectations and to make the experience as smooth and enjoyable as possible. I genuinely feel that they provided me with the best customer service I have ever experienced. So much so that my friend and I decided to hire a car on a second date (15/6/2017). When we returned we were greeted this time by Lam who was also very friendly. Our new found friends Bab and Wan returned from off site duties and seemed as happy to see us as we were to see them. As before, the store was extremely busy but Bab and Wan were super attentive and ensured each customer left happy and completely satisfied. I would definitely recommend this branch to anyone visiting Calgary and I can't wait to return to see Bab and Wan again! Thank you, you truly deserve to be commended!

Wow - what a nice experience. We visited this Budget car rental which is located inside the Victoria, BC Airport (YYJ) The service counter was a breeze to locate. (Compared to other airports) we literally got off the plane, followed signs for arrivals/baggage/transportation, and we were there in less than 5 minutes) The employee working the counter was by himself and there was a lineup of about five customers ahead of us. We waited about 20 mins. The employee clearly knew what he was doing, and breezed through the lineup. It was impressive. Once it was our turn, he got us through the paperwork quickly and efficiently. There were zero surprises. He called the employee outside to get our car ready. We walked out the doors and over to the Budget section in the parking lot (was clearly marked and the employee gave us good solid directions) We waited maybe 5 minutes, as the employee helped the couple in front of us. Once it was our turn, the employee personally walked us to our vehicle and did a vehicle inspection with us. He was friendly and chatted casually with us. I've never had a better experience with Budget. (We've rented from the company at least ten times before at different airports throughout Canada ????????) Thank you Budget, we will continue to choose you over the other car rental companies every time!

They know what vehicles I like and try make sure they have them at their location when I have a reservation, which, to me, is going above and beyond the call of duty. I had a terrible experience with this location, i’ve even heard from other employees from other store locations say that this location is troube. For starters the staff tricked me being a first time user of a car rental, they said they would give me a sonata when i had reserved an elantra well in advance, and once i get in the car i noticed that it was a nissan sentra. After this and looking at the document i signed since i was in a rush which i’ll take the blame for, i notice that they had set it up so that they'd try to get me to rent a sonata all along in the paperwork. Very shady tactic to use by tricking a customer but i've learned my lesson. Secondly, i used the company code which provides a discount for users, and after i forgot to provide the ID at pick up they cut me a break and let me take the car with the initial quote, but with the condition that I'd have to produce the ID on the date of the return. fine, not a problem we’ll just discuss it after i get back On the date of the return I dropped the car off and everything seemed to be fine, the employee told me I was good to go so i took off, only to receive a call from a very rude manager Kajan, telling me that i had failed to produce the ID on the date of the arrival, and since i wasn't able to show it i'd be charged the regular quote without the discount code. He tried arguing it was my responsibility to produce the ID, even with the mistake of HIS employee forgetting to ask me. He ALSO went as far as to yell at me, interrupt me while he was blaming me, and continued to place the blame on me This wasn't my responsibility, and he did not want to take responsibility for the mistake of his staff, and the leniency of allowing me to take the car without the ID. If i knew that i'd have to be so organized to correct the mistake for HIS employee i would have never used the code in the first place. poor management and childish behaviour from Kajan

The worse customer service experience! Rented a van for the week. Knowing that the Brampton location close at 5 pm. Called to let them know that we will be there late. We were assured that we'll get a small charge. When we received the final charge on the credit card, we got charged for the full weekend. Call back the location, now they are saying they cannot adjust the system. Call customer service, spoke with Joe, employee # 16904, he was like speaking with a computer, no empathy. This is not my first time renting cars and sending customers to this location. It was not about the money, it was about the principle. They will never get another one of my customer again. What a terrible costumer service... We arrived on time but due to the slowness of Victorino's service with the people who arrived before us, we spent almost 2 hours in line. Then when we got there, apparently our reservation was expired (of course, because of the 2h in line). The guy did not want to hear anything and he told us we were becoming too aggressive (we were only asking for solutions in a normal tone of voice). We finally ended up paying for a more expensive car since he gave "ours" to other people. A complete disaster, I will definitely NOT recommend it.

One of the worst businesses we've ever dealt with. We made our reservation online, using air miles. We declined the extra insurance as we were covered through our own insurance company. When we got to the counter, we were asked if we wanted to purchase insurance, and we explained that we didn't need extra insurance because we were already covered, and we had already declined the insurance. The (con) man behind the counter told us that for a flat one-time fee of $18.00 we would be covered for our time there. We double-checked that it was a one-time fee, and he assured us it was, so we said sure. I handed him my credit card, and when he passed the machine to me, it read "enter pin", not a monetary amount with the prompt to press "ok". I noticed it, but didn't question it. A few days later I checked my card balance and noticed that Budget had taken over $500.00 off! It wasn't a flat fee of $18.00, it was $18.00/day! We phoned the location and head office to complain and were told we were lying and that by punching my pin in the machine we had agreed to the charges. We will NEVER use or recommend Budget again.

I went to this location on Friday eve around 5 pm or so and I did not have resveration but I didn't know it that busy... the office was full of people so i thought I'll just wait for my turn. So this guy walks in and right away to the counter the guy behind the counter then asked him if he was fast track custmer and he said no so the guy (I think his name was Juan) asked him to just wait his turn as there were custmers ahead of him, the guy said yes but I have reservation for 430 and I need to go now, the customer Juan was helping was nice enough to say he can help him first as he wasn't in a rush. Juan thanked him and was looking into this guy's reservation but I guess he couldn't find it in his system so he asked him for a confirmation number so he can look it up but the guy just lost it and started making phone calls to the custmer service and yelling on the phone and at Juan who was amazing in dealing with this guy. He kept his cool and was still trying to help him and told him let me finish with the reserved custmers and he will get him a car but the guy omg was so rude and then find out his reservation is at another company all together. The guy left without even saying sorry for wasting everyone's time.. But massive kodos to Juan.. I was really impressed by the way he handled the situation and continued on helping the customers still smiling and making them feel appreciated.. I would've jumped over the counter and punshed dude in the face lol.. I didn't end up with a car but I will definitely come back but make reservation abit earlier in the day....

DO NOT USE BUDGET/AVIS - EVER. Made a reservation for pick up at 5pm. Showed up at 4:30pm, and was told they did not have any cars available (really?!) and that I should check back at 6pm when more cars were being dropped off. They also said they would call me. I showed up 5:45pm, and they had closed! Locked up, lights off, alarm set, no one there, 15min before closing time. I called "customer service" and was told there was nothing they could do, and that I should call the next day. The next day I called again, and was told the best rate I could get was the same amount I was paying for a 4 day rental... except for only 3 days.... (ie, they were charging me MORE for my inconvenience)...

Went in after the rental I booked was not honoured by Thrifty's. Walked in and asked for a car same day and Carl and Rahim were absolutely amazing. They priced out a car for me and when I compared it to the internet price it was the best deal out there. They answered all my questions about the rental and insurance and so on. I was a bit nervous about renting from this location because of the bad ratings but I honestly had a really good experience here. There was a bit of a misunderstanding at the beginning but it was resolved. The car I received was clean, ran beautifully and served us well throughout the week. He would not stop pushing the upgrade and insisted it only makes sense for me to take it as they would not charge me anything extra for the upgrade “it will be the same price he said, no extra charge”. Even after finally agreeing I again changed my mind and said I would prefer to just go with what I originally rented, the employee again insisted it’s winter you should have all wheel drive just in case. Once I got home from my trip I realized there was an additional charge on my credit card for more than what I prepaid the first time for the rental. After calling and speaking to the customer service line they offered me a refund of 50% of the upgrade charge as “it is my fault for accepting the upgrade and I still had the option to decline”. Which I really didn’t have a choice because their staff continued to coerce me until I said yes! I have been offered upgrades in the past for no charge and never had an issue. So I didn’t think twice about it after driving off in my upgraded rental. I am very disappointed and feel like I was completely mislead and pressured by Budget representatives so they could make a few extra bucks off of me. If I knew I was going to be charged I would have declined the upgrade. Now for Budget customer service to insinuate this is my fault as I chose to accept the upgrade is outrageous and the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I live in a northern climate with much more snow than Winnipeg (which I also told the employee) I really had no need for an all wheel drive vehicle. Thanks budget for ripping me off and costing me nearly $90 extra! I wonder if they train all their staff to rip off customers? They must make a killing that way.

I'd give 0 if I could, operator is an absolute buffoon. We reserved and paid for a "full size car" and were given a Nissan Kicks, a vehicle that is smaller AND less powerful than many cars in the "standard" and "intermediate" classes. Operator said that the vehicle was the SAME class as a midsize sedan and a Dodge Charger(!). Why the posted difference in class on every rental website then? Not to mention the vehicle was delayed 1.5 hours with no notice. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and said it must be busy but he responded "no it's actually been slow for awhile"! Went and booked with a competing rental agency who laughed at the idea that a Nissan Kicks was being passed off as anything bigger than "standard" class. First and only time dealing with Budget; never again.

First let me comment on your agent at the airport Saqib. You are very fortunate to have such a conscientious, courteous, pleasant and professional employee. Out of the 3 cars he rented out 2 of the customers came back having experienced problems with their vehicles. It was -43C that morning. He immediately made the necessary changes to get them another vehicle and they were on their way. These customers were dealt with in such a professional manner they will continue to be customers. Because it was Family Day and there were no other cars available from any of the other car rental agencies at the airport ,,i was forced into renting an overpriced ($156.00 per day) from the "Budget Thieves". There was a hard attempt to up-sell me on everything from over priced insurance at $30.00 per day and snow tires for $20.00 per day of which i refused ,,only to find it was the only car they had available so i had to take it. All from a New Canadian who could not speak English very well or even knew what the holiday that day even was! I will NEVER rent another car from Budget/AVIS ( they are the same ownership) anywhere in Canada let alone Winnipeg. I wish there was a negative number of stars i could choose that as a rating. I will be making arraignments with National just down the hall from now on or taking a cab to another car rental agency off the airport property and get a car for 1/4 the price.

Very Bad Customer service. They charged you for the gas even if gas tank is full. No explanation. I don’t even understand the concept even if the gas sign is full, how they fill up 25 liters. God knows or they know. Total kilometers was 805 and I fill up the gas 253 liters and average was 3 per kilometer. They do big scams. My advice if you want to go there , you are at your own risk

Nice people. Nice little car. As soon as I arrived at the BUDGET counter, I was greeted by a smiling young man. My reservation was found from the start and the rest of the process was fast and efficient. Small shadow on the board: this officer told me "Of course, you take all the protections." This way of trying to sell me, a little hypocritically, astronomical daily surplus for additional insurances, did not please me. We can understand that these attendants are also sellers, but .... pleeeaaase! I had a Nissa Versa rental. Beautiful little car; I particularly appreciated the heated seats because it is cold at YWG! I also appreciated the fact that the inspection of the vehicle, before departure, is left to our discretion, meaning that we fill in the form to establish if the car is already damaged and we leave it in the box reserved for this purpose. This confidence is very much appreciated. For the operation of the car, I do not know yet how to open the trunk! No instructions. I tried looking ... niet! As all travelers arrive with luggages, it would be a great way to stand out from the competition by having a permanent record in the car giving instructions to open the trunk. In return, same facility to put back the car. Yaqil (I think?) was nice and smiling.

Do not rent a car from here! I'm a GDL driver from Alberta and the place I had a car booked denied me once I got there. But budget would rent me a car, they quoted me 800$ for 5 days for an impala. I split it half with my girlfriend not thinking clearly that we were being scammed. Ended up paying 160$ a day for this sedan. We called the manager back and he said too bad you signed it. I understand I agreed to the price I was in a panic and not thinking clearly. An honest company would realize that this was not fair and I was over charged.

BEWARE! This is NOT the location you will want to deal with! - Poor integrity, customer service and demeanor. I have used Budget across Canada and the US for many years and it has always been a good experience … until now! This Brampton Budget location (73 Kennedy Rd. S) is the worst I have ever dealt with. When inspecting the returned car they called out a big scratch. What? I went to see for myself and it turned out to be a road tar smudge that even smeared to the touch. I had already identified the same smudge during my pickup inspection (fearing + charges for cleaning when returned) and the pickup location literally laughed, blaming the miss from their own wash/cleaning job, and deemed it as, "not of concern" nor "worthy to notate." Then this Brampton Budget location CHARGED me an EXTRA DAY ($140+ CAD) when in fact I returned the car 23 minutes early. Unfortunately I did not notice this until I had already left. So I called them within 20 minutes of leaving and this location's representative acknowledged that the car was returned early and considered on-time for the one day rental. So you would think that when he was checking in the returned “on time” vehicle he would notice an extra day's charge? OR … ?? (you can form your own opinion) Rather than correcting the over billing, he informed me that I had to call the location the car was rented from (in the US). REALLY? Is it not the same connected system! (BTW: Yes it is) So I made the long distance call to the US pickup location and they were stunned in complete disbelief, exasperated and apologetic that Brampton's Budget location would not have initially caught or subsequently corrected the identified over billing. Within just a few minutes the Budget Pickup location corrected the overcharge billing issue. Generally I don't write reviews but I see similiar issues raised by other reviewers so I am speaking out to warn you. Overall I would give a 4 - 5 Star Rating for Budget Car Rental BUT … NOT THIS LOCATION! I will never use this location again and suggest that you use another Budget location (or another Car Rental Company) that is more reputable and customer friendly . BEWARE!

Rented a car last January - when I got home to pick up the family the trunk did not close properly. Went straight to the depot and got the car changed. Which they promptly did. However, last week I received a call from the Manager to come in and fill out a form to explain what happened. Asked him if this was going to be charged on my dime. He said, “NO, just come in and explain what happened”. Today, I received a letter from Budget asking me to pay damages. What kind of service is this? The car was damaged to begin with. I live 2 blocks away from the depot. When I noticed the trunk door was damaged, went straight back to them to get a replacement. It took 20 minutes max for me to drive home and back to them. Now, I am being charged hundreds of dollars for a damage I did not cause? There is a dent on the inside of the trunk door? How do you think I caused a large dent on the inside? For a manager to tell me, “just explain what happened and NO I will not be charged for the damaged” and a few days later I am being charged for the damage is unacceptable! I truly am disappointed, how can you lie to your customers. I rent at this location almost every week. You just lost my business.

The car was in good shape, less than 6 months old. However, the attendant, Sohaib Butt (Agent Operator) was the absolute rudest individual that I have ever had to deal with in a business transaction and for this reason I will never return. He was unnecessarily rude as well, responding sarcastically and condescendingly to almost every question I had. It was as if he put a negative spin on every benign inquiry that I had. For instance, when dropping off the car, he asked me if I filled it up with gas. I responded that I had. He was dealing with other customers while he asked me this and I had already pulled my phone out to call a cab but thought to ask him if we needed to confirm that there was a full tank before I called the cab, so I asked him if he needed to check. His response was dripping with sarcasm as he replied "Well I am dealing with other customers as you can see so I can't get out there right now can I?". I was floored. My question was only so that I could determine whether I needed to stay and hold off on my cab ride or if I could go. Of course I wouldn't expect anyone to drop another customer. I told him I understood that but didn't understand why we was speaking to me like that. This was just the pinnacle of what was the most disrespectful business exchange I ever, in my life, had with someone. Before I dropped off the car I called and told him that my husband and I were interested in keeping the car for another two days but were interested only if we could get a pro-rated rate so that we could drop it off at 6pm (after work) and not 1pm. He said that there was no way around that and no he wouldn't do that. I told him that I was surprised that he would turn down another $100 in rental charges because the drop off time was impossible for us and that charging us another full day for 5 hours was unreasonable, and that we've done it with Thrifty Car Rental (a few doors down from his Budget location) before. His response was "We are not Thrifty, Ma'am". He's damned right they aren't, and he will never get our business again. We are pretty regular car renters as we are a one-car household. I was hoping on a possible alternative to Thrifty since I am a regular of Thrifty's and they were closed yesterday. Unfortunately Budget will never get our business again and I will actively recommend that others never give this location, and Sohaib, their business. This was not a bad day for him as his disrespectful treatment of me as a customer spanned two days.

By far the worst service I've ever received. The guy behind the counter was not helpful and treated me like a criminal although I had made a reservation. I called head office to see if there was any help to be had. The guy on the phone was less helpful and both of these individuals pointed to one another and said it's not there's to fix (corporate vs location). Thanks guys for this. You left a visitor to Ontario stranded on the side of Kennedy road waiting for a cab that took 1 hour and a half. Again after reserving a vehicle 2 days in advance. This place I would never step foot in again. Don't worry though the location in streetsville took care of me. In and out in exactly 11 minutes. They rented me a brand new Ford Escape as an upgrade and I was the first ever person to drive it. Also, in Brampton my rate was 130$ and somehow streetsville gives me an upgrade for 70$. LOL avoid this place like the plague!

Was very upset when I was left stranded, away from home, because this isn't mentioned in my multiple confirmations of bookings. This location is run very efficiently and has the lowest wait time of any of the Calgary car rental locations including the competitors. Maybe it is because I am there at similar times each occasion but I usually deal with Sanraj, he always gets through the lineup in a matter of minutes and closes the deal really fast. Should have not accepted the vehicle, but we had waited 15 minutes while the vehicle category that we reserved was not available. That was after waiting 15 minutes in line. I made a reservation for 8 a.m. this Monday, but I had to wait until almost 9 a.m. without any explanation. Also, the woman wearing the pink Apple Watch was rude. I was not good at English, so she kept sighing and ignoring me. Because of her, my friends and I ruined everything from morning. And I went to return it this Tuesday morning. She didn't even say hello to us. We made a reservation for 5 days at the end of this month. But I canceled it because I felt bad because of her. I rented a car here on February 8th. But there was a car accident. So I went to there but JULIE said she needs police records, If i don't have police records she can't take the car. I told them I already went to police service, But The police service are already closed. I should have returned my car on the morning of the February 10th. But I said I need to go to work in the morning and She said she leaves work at 4:00 and I can keep the car until 4:00 on February 10th. She didn't EVEN explain anything about extra charge. So I thought I can keep the car for free. If she told me about extra charge, I would have delayed my work or left work early. When I told her about it, she insisted she never said that. The fob to lock and unlock stopped working after first day. Was told to use key. I was instructed to remove cap over key hole on door. Every time I unlocked the door the horn would go off till I started the car. Very embarrassing. When I returned car and explained why cap was off they wanted me to go inside as they deemed this as damage! Had to explain over and over I was told by budget employee to remove it. I had to put it back on to prove wasn’t damage. Overall not a great experience

Hi, I'm Redx and this is my review of Budget Rent a car at Victoria International Airport. My observation is more or less in line with others. The easy part first, they earned a star because they came to the Swatz Bay Ferry Terminal to pick me up and they did it fast! Thank you! The driver was really friend and social. My Car rental was Fri-Sun at $27/day total: $142. When we got to the airport it was all downhill. Outright dirty sale tactics that disgusted me to a point where stars had dropped way below recovery. I had asked for a compact car and was assigned the Sonic. I asked if the car has USB and/or Bluetooth and the VERY WELL informed agent said she doesn't know for certain but she has anothet car she can set me up that will have everything so she got me a Ford which was fully loaded although I didn't get the extra gadgets like the onboard GPS. I asked how much it would be and she quoted "it will be $20/day" and I was shocked as it was less than what we were paying so I asked for the total and she said $280. I asked her how it got to $280 at $20/day for 3 days and she said "I meant that it's an additional $20 a day" (dirty dirty sale tactics) so I declined it. Then she said oh OK I might have something else and she "found" a Malibu which she said was $15/day extra and had Bluetooth and USB which made me wonder "why offer me the more expensive car with a lot more gadgets than I need rather than offer me what I asked for?" She mentioned the Malibu has leather seats and we are anti-animal products so we rejected the Malibu and she said that is all she has to offer. I asked if I could have a look at couple of Sonics to see which one does have a USB at least and she said they are all exactly the same. I accepted the Sonic and we got things signed. I noticed through the contract there was some shady business for example if you get into an accident and it's NOT your fault you are still fully liabile for all damages and must pay then you yourself go after the owner to get your money back! Like what? Budget should coordinate that with the icbc not the customer who wasn't at fault. TERRIBLE. The best part is here. We got out to the car did our check and everything was good. Got into the car and started to settle in and BAM There is a USB and there is a Bluetooth. WHAT?? The b*tch try to upgrade us for no reason at all when the current car had everything we needed!! I could of potentially paid $100 extra for no reason at all! Thanks Budget for trying to rob me of my hard earned cash. Budget is now on our boycott list next to animal products. If you've read this far I got an EXCELLENT Tip for you. Budget tends to be the cheapest. Next time if you are tempted to book with budget because of its price DO IT but then when you arrive at the airport go to a different renter and show them budgets offer and the rental place WILL most likely price match Budget and so you got your cheap car and not from Budget. My first experience here was 5 star because the guy who helped me was very polite and helpful. But not a good experience on my second business with them. I called 15 mins after i drove the vehicle home just to make sure that they are aware that there are some hairline scratches on the headlight which we/I was not able to see during the walk through. I did it as courtesy so that they will be fully aware of it and got a not so pleasing response. The interior was not even cleaned properly plus the bumper is still full of bug marks which I fully understand that it is hard to remove.

Budget cancelled a long standing reservation to accommodate an up-kick in vehicle requests. The border just opened and I was told my reservation is no longer available. Booked 9 weeks in advance, during Covid and gave Budget the business. Vehicle rental prices have gone way up due to demand, my lower cost reservation that I had got cancelled one day prior. Budget is not worthwhile. I am removing our company as a customer of Budget. The business is gone because they wanted $200 more and left us hanging. The response Budget was to "take a cab".

What is the point of showing one price on the web site and getting a different price at the counter. Unfortunately I had to pay extra as their system shows more than what the website shows. I couldn't be more happy about renting my car at budget and being attended by Bab and Wan. I flew to Calgary to pick up a car to drive around the rockies for 21 days. I rented a mini van with the idea of sleeping in it when needed. When i arrived to budget they didnt have the one i asked for, and offered me a much bigger one. Despite that, i still wanted the smaller one because it was more comfortable to sleep in. They had a Jeep Grand Cherokee there, but it wasnt available. I still wanted it. Bab took me to other budget locations to see other cars, but i wasnt 100% happy with them so we kept looking. Bab made lots of phone calls and he was finally able to find one, but it needed service because it had just came from being rented. They did a big effort to do it as fast as possible and just two hours later i had it. A 2017 beautiful Jeep. Im just about to finish my roadtrip now, and i can say that it was a pleasure to drive this car. It made my trip really easy and smooth. I really recommend Bab and Wan. They are really nice and helpfull. Thanks!!!

I normally do not write reviews but felt I needed too with the level of unprofessionalism from the claims location manager. I am a Fastbreak member and book a few cars a year. But after my experience at this location, I will no longer be booking from Budget all together. They have lost a loyal customer. The pickup process was typical but when I received a flat tire that is when my experienced turned into a nightmare. When I looked in the trunk there was no spare tire, only a pressurized stop leak can. The sidewall was damaged so no help. I will not go into details on how I managed to get the car to a local tire shop. When I called Budget they wanted me to bring the car back to where I rented from. There was no possible way I was able to do that. I purchased the same size tire from the tire shop and was hoping to be reimbursed from Budget. When I spoke to a Budget rep over the phone when I was at the tire shop, that is what they instructed me to do. When I returned my car rental and spoke to the counter agent they assured me everything would be taken care of. It has been over 2 months now and the claims department at this location has ignored my calls after leaving voicemails and emails. Beware there is no spare tire in the trunk and their customer service is TERRIBLE.

Initially we came up to Budget Rent-a-Car and had a pleasant and joking exchange. The girl, Nikki, did provide recommendations on where else to visit in Victoria but then when providing us details of our reservation began speaking so fast, and was only interested in upselling an SUV to us, then tired to include their ridiculous insurance. Luckily my partner decided to double check the information she was spewing to us. She was instantly offended that he was double checking to make sure how much we would be charged for a reservation we had already made prior to arriving. Her customer service skills instantly turned rude realizing that he was in his right to double check her on the information she was providing and knew that we would decline all of the upselling and insurance charges. She even went out of her way to say that he was being a rude customer which was highly uncalled for. Meanwhile, all other agents sitting behind the desk were blankly looking at our exchange as if she was in the right. In the end, we took the car, booked with our original reservation price and we tried to speak with a manager but of course they were not in at that time (3pm in the afternoon). We tried calling their offices during our stay to speak with any higher up authority to discuss the poor customer service we received, we got through once and were informed managers do not work on weekends (oh great!) Afterwards, we almost never got through to speak with anyone. Only one person tried to direct us back to the front desk we first had our altercation to speak with a manager but of course no one answered or returned our call from our voice message. Overall DO NOT BOOK WITH BUDGET if you expect rude service. Thanks.

Would not recommend this location as the owner and employees are not professional nor polite. They gave me the keys and did not provide a walk around the vehicle before I drove away. The vehicle I received was not cleaned, there was ashes in the center console, ashes on the vents, the car smelled of spilled liquor. When I returned the vehicle I had brought up the concerns to the gentleman at the desk. He immediately became defensive and yelled at me. When I asked for the managers card he said he's the owner.

This location was the worst rental car experience I’ve ever had. The woman at the counter was extremely aggressive at upselling and was strategically manipulative. She pushed everything, trying to create fear and not giving specific cost. She more than doubled my reserved rate. She said the upgraded car was $40!! she kept saying it was such a good deal. Never saying that it was $40 MORE dollars a day added to the $40 rate I already had. The amount looked high and she kept talking fast about Canadian exchange rates, etc. when I picked up car I realized what she had done. We tried to exchange the car. We were then told then didn’t even have the car we were originally supposed to get! And they wanted us to drive around and exchange it. My husband had to talk to three different people! We finally found a location and they literally charged us for gas! Never ever use budget rental car again! I’m going back to enterprise

My experience was the same as the last fellow. I had called and made a reservation for a vehicle that could fit my grandma's wheelchair whom I was picking up for a funeral. When I arrived they said my reservation was for the next day and my vehicle was not available but could upgrade me for twice the price to a SUV. Classic bait and switch. As I was in town for one day and had a funeral to attend I had no choice but to sign the contract and get to my family. When I returned I tried to discuss with the manager who's response was "well you signed the contract". Sitting at the bar waiting for my flight I encountered another gentlemen who said he had the same experience with Budget. I have raised the issue to corporate office but really the police should be involved in this scam.

it was extremely disappointing experience: - First of all, I had booked Hyundai Sonata but they gave Nissan Rogue. I drove for 85 KMS and while filling the tank, it took 18 litres which means close to 4.5 Litres per KM which doesn't make any sense. - Rep was extremely rude and didn't know how to treat the customers. - Though I returned the car within the timelines but still they charges extra day. I will suggest everyone to avoid Budget Cars, they are extremely unprofessional !

Last summer, we rented a vehicle and upgraded...the people at this location did not inform us that if we exceeded a certain number of KM's we'd be charged a ridiculous surcharge. We didn't balk and complain at that time because it's on us to read the contract...however, a good business would INFORM the client before they signed. Whatever...we thought we'd give them another chance because their prices are reasonable. You know why they can afford to be reasonable? Because of their shady business "customer service" ..by nickel and diming clients on fine print with extra charges. We returned our vehicle last night from a road trip. The location was closed, but we dropped the car and key off around 8:30pm. Went back today to pick up the paperwork we left in the vehicle and found out that they charged us an extra day because we dropped off after closing time. Meanwhile, we could have kept the vehicle until 6pm today if we had have known that they would charge us an extra day. Basically, they clearly don't care if we never come back. So we won't. I suggest that if you rent from them, you MAKE SURE that you ask about mileage, and drop off and anything else you can possibly think of because they WILL try to find a loop to charge you extra for. We will never go back...and suggest that you find someplace more reputable to rent from.

In mid-Nov I booked a compact vehicle for 8 days for pickup on Dec 2 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. When I arrived I was told that the only car available was one with summer tires. Really - are you kidding me??!! Anyone who knows anything about living on the prairies in Canada knows it's not a good idea to drive in the winter with only summer tires on the vehicle. Plus, I was informed at that time a snow storm was expected in about 3 days. That certainly was lucky for them because they got to 'up sell' me on getting an SUV with 4-wheel drive, which of course had a higher daily rate. Then, when the temperature was to drop to -24 degrees Celcius one night, I went looking for the block heater cord which should have been accessible on the outside of the vehicle but it wasn't. Not being particularly familiar with the vehicle, I ended up getting up in the middle of the night to go outside to turn on the vehicle so as not to run the risk of having a 'dead' vehicle in the morning. When I called the Budget office in the morning I was assured that IF the vehicle had a block heater, then the cord would be hanging out the front because "they do all the vehicles at the same time". There should be no IF about it in Manitoba in the winter! I then went to a different Budget location and it took 2 people (one of whom ended up checking the internet) to find the block heater cord which was still wrapped up & tucked away. Obviously someone hadn't done their job properly because not all the vehicles had the block heater cords made easily accessible. When I returned the SUV, the person at the counter said she couldn't give me a receipt at that moment because the computer system wasn't up but if I gave her my email address she would get it to me later that day. I waited 5 days - no receipt - so I had to phone them. This shouldn't have been necessary. No apology, of any form, was given for their oversight or for the inconvenience to me of having to get after them to do their job properly. The 3 stars is because the vehicle didn't give me any problems.

I required a truck rental to help me with my move that was coming up. I called the local number, and after going through a few menus someone from car rentals picked up. I tell them I need a truck so they offer to transfer me to truck rentals. I say okay, and next thing I know I am speaking to the truck rental department... IN THE USA. I am in Canada. I called the Canadian number. So this person can't help me, and offers to transfer me to the Canadian truck rental department. I say yes, and I wind up straight back at the same menu as before. After going through it, I am once again talking to car rentals. Then US truck rentals. This time, I tell them about what happened last time, so they tell me to call a number. IT'S THE SAME NUMBER I JUST CALLED. I explain this to the person, and she gives me another number. IT LEADS ME TO THE SAME MENU, which leads me to car rentals once again. which again leads me to AMERICAN truck rentals. For some inexplicable reason, no one could help me. I must have tried about half a dozen times, using various approaches including just letting the menu run through without pressing anything. Always the same... car rentals (useless), American truck rentals (even more useless) and finally back to the same old menu. I can honestly say that I've never encountered a more incompetent company in my entire life, car rentals or otherwise. Don't try to rent from here if you live in Canada, because apparently it's impossible!! Would give negative stars if I could.
