The car was very new and just as booked. After some initial misunderstandings the owner really made an effort to resolve the issue which I very much appreciate. Just be aware that in Canada it is common that taxes and insurance are not included in the initial calculation. The final price was therefore higher than I expected and may come as a surprise for other Europeans, however this is probably the case for other car rental companies as well.

Worst customer service I've ever received. "Lance" will do anything to prove "the rules are the rules" and the customer is wrong. I recently returned a bike rental and as soon as we realized the key for the bike lock was still in my friend's pocket (who just caught a flight to Toronto), I promptly paid the $50 and said I would ask my friend to mail me the key, at which point Lance & Co. agreed they would refund the $50. As soon as I received the key in the mail, I promptly walked next door to the Granville location to return it. "Lethargic Lance" informs me that he cut the lock; and because of his stupidity he would not refund the $50 that he and his team promised the week prior. I since had to wait over a week for the store manager to call me to tell me the exact same thing as Lethargic Lance (I refer to him as LL as he couldn't care less about customers or his job really). In such a competitive Car Share environment, the fact that LL and his dopy manager wouldn't budge on $50 for the sake of a "regular customer" is frankly naïve in my opinion, and shows a serious lack of business sense. I definitely don't need the $50; however in an industry that is flooded with car share programs competing for our loyalty - I will make sure to never recommend, nor rent from, Access Rent A Car ever again.

I got a fair priced car quickly, and left with a smile on my face. They staff is super friendly, funny, and helpful. They'd offer services but never pushed anything I didn't want. They explained the lease clearly and quickly. And when I returned the car and there was a scratch on it they didn't notice before, they did NOT try to say it was me who did it (I didn't). Most other places would've charged an absurd amount of money for that. I don't normally write reviews, but this was so out-of-the-ordinary good, I just had to!

One of the fastest rentals I've ever done. Usually when I tried to rent cars in other companies between the agreement and the delivery of the car the procedure took sometimes more than an hour. With them the car was already ready when I went there and the agreement was finished in less than 10 minutes.

Rented an intermediate with snow tires (one of the few places in Vancouver that offers them) and had a good experience. Picking up the car was easy and the lady explained all of the costs. The car was clean and brand new by the looks of it. Returned the car easy enough. Will definitely use them again.

After researching the winter driving conditions and the minimum requirements we were very pleased that Access could offer us winter tires (other rental car companies could not). When we rent a car, it was pretty good. But few weeks later we got into the trouble. My friend said to me she could't get back deposit when she checked credit card's bill. So we visited the office and one member of staff explained that we didnt fill up fuel so it charged. But when we contract the car nobody explained about that important thing, even next day this office never noticed us before charge the additional fee :( So my friend felt so embarrassed when she got the bill 1 month later. Actually, my friends didn't check the contract paper and just sign on there. It is true and it can be our fault too. But i disappointed to staff cuz they didn't tell us the whole contract contents and not say sorry to us:(

Since I'm a student and I'm 19 years old, I was having trouble finding a place to rent a vehicle so me and my friends could go to whistler. Access gave us the opportunity to rent a car for 2 days and enjoy all the amazing scenarios around British Columbia. The overnight return was very practical and simple, which save us a lot of time and money. If you're a student, contact them and negotiate some nice prices.

We had a pretty good experience with Access Rent a Car. Except my credit card had a $30 extra charge on it from them afterwards. I'm assuming it was for gas charge. We filled up the tank on the way in, but there are no gas stations downtown so maybe that short distance of gas we used amounted to a gas charge. Would have been nice to been alerted of it though. Just keep that in mind. Fill up at the closest gas station you can because you will be charged. They do have a very high rate for unfilled tanks.

Rent your car from another company if you can. A friend of mine had a car accident with one of their cars. He was not responsible for the accident but had to pay 2,500$ for minor repairs. We were told we would have the money back once the insurance settled the claim. This happened in 2017 and we never had any news. We regularly tried to contact Access Rent to have update regarding the 2,500$ but every time, we were given a new lie. They pocketed the money and probably never filed a claim.

Terrible experience, warning DO NOT HIRE FROM ACCESS. Tanja the women who works at the Vancouver city centre front desk has refused to give $1500 dollars back to us after taking the money from our account due to a minor car accident we had while renting that was proven not our fault with ICBC insurance. Won’t respond to our emails and told us once the claim had been finalised the hold would be released. Both ICBC has paid Access, along with taking our money. They also DO NOT HAVE FULL INSURANCE on their vehicles, only 3rd party and no insurance policies. Tread carefully when hiring with them, even if you pay for cover when hiring.. you aren’t and they will take you money. Really disappointed and put a huge damper on the end of our trip and $1500 our of pocket. Thanks for nothing Access and Tanja! :(

Great place. Great prices. Great staff members. I needed a car for a week to tourist around British Colombia and Seattle. After searching on expedia and walking around a few car rental companies, Access offered me the best deal for the rent! The price was very reasonable (considering that I wanted to go to a lot of cities), the staff was very friendly and helped me with all my doubts. And the rent procedure was quick and accurate. I was ready for the road in no time! The car was brand new, clean and very comfortable. Also, I needed to drop the car off at the airport and their fee was the cheapest one I found. The employee who waited for me there was very nice and the agreement was closed in no time. I'm very happy with the rental and I'll recommend them to all my friends who decide to visit Vancouver. It made my trip even more special.

We were staying in Vancouver for the long weekend and were looking to rent a car to drive up the sea to sky but found renting a car for a reasonable price was nearly impossible, finally our concierge recommended us Access and we found booking the rent very straightforward, they even delivered the car to the hotel. We were also alowed to drive the car back to the airport where they had arranged their employee to pick it up and we encountered nothing but friendly service and support from Alan and the team, thank you guys!

They never give me an estimate for a scretch I made, and they just took 900$ for accident deposit. 2 moths later from the day, now I still have not gotten back from them. Can you imagine we rented a Hyundai with a bunch of scratches for only one day and it cost us more than 300 dollars? We were late for only 20 minutes and Access charged us 70 dollars. Also, the driver who signed the contract was driving the whole time. The friend only drove back the car from the airport, and Access charged us another 90 dollars! The company did not clarify any rental rule when we rented the car. When I called back, the lady said "I was lying" because someone else drove the car. What kind of attitude is this?? She even said "you should be aware of the fact that..." You gotta BE AWARE that most people who rent cars are tourists who are NOT AWARE of a lot of local rules. Why would you expect us to know all the rules without informing us at all? The lady called me another day saying that “you are not being completely honest with me” after her manager found out that we wrote another review on YELP. I mean, do I have the obligation to tell you everything I did??? And I don’t really feel comfortable hearing words such as “you need to…” multiple times in a phone call considering I am the CUSTOMER alright? We rented a Wrangler Jeep from Enterprise and it only cost us 200 dollars even though we were late for one night due to unforeseen circumstances. Also, Access has only one location in Vancouver, so there is NO WAY we can drop it off elsewhere, which makes returning cars extremely inconvenient for tourists. Everyone, PICK BIG CAR RENTAL COMPANIES ONLY. This is the most important lesson I learnt from this trip. OKAY NOW YOU ARE SAYING WE ARE 'BLACKMAILING'? DO YOU UNDERSTAND ENGLISH WHATSOEVER? FYI BLACKMAILING MEANS "an act, often a crime, involving unjustified threats to make a gain (commonly money or property) or cause loss to another unless a demand is met". I AM STATING THE FACT WHILE BEING THREATENED AND YOU ARE BEING DISHONEST. I AM NOT COUNTING ON YOU TO RETURN ANY MONEY BACK. WE LATE FOR 2 HOURS? HUH? I GUESS YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO READ A CLOCK. EVERYONE JUST DONT GO TO THIS PLACE EVER

If it weren't for the fact I felt like I got ripped off I would've given the place 4 stars, but they called me during my rental to jack the daily rate up due to Easter, and then after Easter was over I called and asked if they'd lower the rate back to the original rate and they refused to do so. They got a few extra dollars out of me now but won't in the future as I won't be renting from them again.

The worst car rental experience ever. It's a total rip-off. Check the tires carefully before renting a car because it seems these people are professionals in somehow finding a nail in your tire and then charging you for 500$! We rented a Nissan Versa for three days; the car tended to steer to the right from the start. We thought it was due to a previous accident. But on the day of returning the car, one of the associates informed us that we had two flat tires and noticed a nail in one of the tires in less than five seconds (wow! keen eyes!). Now they are charging us for 500$ to replace the rear and front tires because they claim one of them to be non-repairable. Two flat tires for six hours of driving in three days in the city of Vancouver (and not the Rocky Mountains)! The funny part is that when we first given the car we asked how to use the spare tire and was told that no one had yet to use one and hopefully you wouldn't either! Now I can see where that came from.

I planed a tour to Whistler and rented a car with access. I just walked into their office and 20 minutes later I got a nice and clean car. The staff was really friendly and helpful (they even gave me good tips to see waterfalls on the way to whistler). Dropping of the car after hours at the free overnight location was easy and saved me parking fees. I definitely recommend this place.

During Summer the rate can be really high; however, the price from here was affordable compare to other rental car companies around Downtown Vancouver. The car was new that I have no problem driving it to Banff!! One of the best car rental experience for me!

One of the staff was so rude, even did not want to help because it was only 30 min left to closing. When i called in the morning they told me that we can do the paper work today and pick up the car the other day. So i spent 2 hours to get there but the staff told me that it’s not possible in the rudest way; he was so arrogant.

Manager is a thief, I tried to cancel the booking 20 minutes after placing it and wasn't told on phone there's a cancellation fee for less than 48 hours. Manager lied twice when I was asked for my card number to "keep the car on hold" and used it to charge me $150. Manager lied again when bank called claiming he told me about the cancellation fee verbally, while I first knew about it when I received the confirmation email. STAY AWAY. Even Budget is a better option. Edit: manager lies again, bank said it's hard to prove such cases when done over the phone.
