Never sent a copy of the invoice by email like I asked them. I called to get a copy. They cannot do that at head quarters. Wow, are we in 2019?!? they cannot do the message to their branch either. So they transfered me to the actual branch in the Calgary airport facility. 4 out of 7 calls, no answer. the other 3 calls, they make you wait for more than 15 minutes on the line and still no answer... is that customer service?!? How can this place be so busy that they cannot take one minute for a simple request? ____________________________ Thank you for your response. I don't understand why the people at the headquarters did not explain that to me! Just printed my receipt...

I booked a full-size car and received a Hyundai Sante Fe. It was an excellent drive until I got a flat tire on the way back from the Rockies. Not Budget’s fault( at least that’s what the report says). I replaced the tire myself, risking my life by driving 60 on Highway 1 back to Calgary. Kudos to all the patient and cautious drivers passed us by, we owe you our lives. Anyways, I was able to pull into the garage around 10:15pm, the agent was also in the garage but surprised to see me as he was expecting me the next day. I insisted to have a replacement vehicle as I didn’t feel safe to drive with a flat tire, the agent handled the situation well but I did noticed that he was a little stressed. It made sense to me after he took me to the counter: there were at least 10 people in line waiting to pick up their cars. Then I knew that there was only one man handling both garage and counter. I relented and agreed to change the vehicle next day. I knew that it was never easy working in this role during COVID. Next day after I had my paperwork done, received the replacement car and ready to check out of hotel, I realized that my Sony Walkman was left in the Sante Fe. After another visit at the location and a few phone call exchanges. Their service manager Adam located my Walkman and had it ready for me at their location. The entire process was very well handled and I really appreciated it. If I were to visit Calgary again, I will most likely not use Budget, not because of their service or car offering, but rather that I have status with Avis. Would I recommend it to other people? Absolutely, just be a little more patient, because they may be dealing with another flat-tired customer or fighting another battle you never know. But damn it, hire one more guy for night shift.

Have rented cars here on many occasions. Always good service, great prices and excellent clean vehicles. The rental kiosk is small and sometimes I have to wait five minutes for a representative, but otherwise highly recommended!

Rented the car Honda Civic from August 15-19, 2019. 1st time to visit Canada and my 1st time to used Budget Rental. I normally used Hertz within USA. Bummer! Transactions went smoothly. Guia assisted me all along this process.Cheap and quality service! Will definitely use them again.

Poor pickup experience. The attendant kept trying to upsell us, even though I was very clear that I didn’t want any extras. He even tried to sneak in some charges for things he didn’t tell me were extra. He was also very rude. They did not give me a closing agreement upon return. When I got charged, the amount was $30 more than on the opening agreement. Not worth pursuing, but it’s a shady thing to do. Will never rent from them again. The attendant was working at 9pm on March 19th, 2021.

Appalling. Attempted to pick up a rental car yesterday and the level of service was horrendous. We've booked cars travelling through Europe and across North America and never had so many problems. Nick was incompetent and unhelpful. After struggling with him for 45 min, we gave up. Walked up to the Hertz desk and they had keys in our hands within 5 minutes. I will never book with Budget again.

Mercy at Budget was a delight, she went above and beyond to help us out when we arrived at the airport and our original rental car agency was closed. We were really worried about not getting a good snow car but Budget had some in stock and available right away. Mercy helped get us on our way and stay within our budget.

I had the worse car rental experience ever at this branch of the Budget. I arrived around 10:20pm in the evening and was received by a female agent. She was initially very pleasant, but when I refused additional coverage and services, she became increasing rude and short with me. When asked questions (I.e. why is the price different from the quote upon booking), she would respond with yes/no answers even if it is not a yes/no question. This happened on multiple occassions. I feel that the service was unprofessional when she threw my Id and paperwork on to the counter and moved on to the next customer as I was asking her a question. This staff was not well trained and provided false information that resulted in an extra hour of my time at the kiosk. She also inappropriately charged me extra for the car rental and never apologized for being wrong when confronted afterwards. I would never recommend to any friends or family to rent from this company again. Your time is worth more !

Hope my experience will resonate with newer or older customers. I rented a car with budget this month, I didn't take windshield insurance as I have never did before but my luck was not with me this time, A small rock chipped the windshield on my way back from my trip, upon returning my car I informed the staff with understanding that I will be liable for new windshield. Fast forward budget charges my credit card with 630$ dollars for a new windshield for Chevy Impala that I rented. That is such a outrageous charge, I got a quote from a local shop they quoted me 294$ with installation. The reasoning as per the bill that I was mailed is that they change it inhouse so they can charge as per their discretion. I sent an email out to their claims department with local windshield quote and I haven't gotten any response. I understand and take responsibility for the not taking insurance but a 630$ (560 for a windshield and 40 for loss of use before taxes) windshield for a chevy impala with no sensors at all sounds like a outrageous charge. Plus the car that I was given was due for a oil change and was shaking while braking on highway. Worst experience I have had with budget and I have rented from them on several occasions. Hope this helps any future customers, don't go for this rental car agency until you can get good deal with windshield/accidental insurance. These guys try to milk the customers any way that they can, will never rent from this agency in future.

Arriving at Budget with a reservation over xmas we were told the car had no winter tires which was mind blowing. They then wanted an additional $700 to upgrade to a car with winter tires. Immediately felt like we were being bent over. When making reservation online there was no option to add or indication the car wouldn't have snow tires.

There is no zero star. The lady who served me was very rude, she told me I was having all the extras instead of asking and explaining what they were. $1400 CAD for 5 days hire of a Volvo V60. Last year I hired a car from Avis in Calgary Airport. They upgraded me to a BMW X5 and for a weeks rental it was half the price of Budget. Avoid Budget and rent a car from Avis!

HUGE WARNING WHEN RENTING FROM THIS SHADY BUSINESS!! I wouldn't rent from these people unless you want to be shystered and taken advantage of! When you get a vehicle from this company make sure there's no faulty glass or anything that could go wrong with the vehicle, also make sure the contact number they give you goes to a real person that will answer their phone and maybe return your phone calls! Even if it's their fault, they still charge you without you knowing and when it comes to deal with the matter they just blatantly ignore you. I used to work for a company like this and this is bad business. -And after reading the other reviews it looks like this is the norm, you're lazy unhelpful responses to people's comments aren't solving anything.

The guy at the budget at airport was abusive I didn’t remember his name but was a asian guy. I was not having credit card and i was trying to use by my debit card i also informed him about my return ticket from the calgary airport. Budget need to take strict action against that employee. Book anywhere else. Save your time! We originally booked at budget and arrived in time. It was no car available for us. Unfriendly staff with gloomy faces suggested to wait about an hour. I noticed a few other customers were turned away and let to wait for hours. Many customers wished to cancel so did I. I moved to the next Alamo counter and what a magic. Friendly smiling people and Alamo lot was full of cars. Shhh! One local rent a car guy told me that budget is worst company in Calgary area. Forever waiting and they are very picky and could charge your credit card for small scratches even not yours. Please stay away until they hire new professional manager to organize the job the way Budget brand deserves...

This review is only for my current rental as I rent from Budget all the time. I arrived in Calgary after my flight was delayed 40 minutes. I went to the Budget booth where I had a car booked and told they gave my car away and it would be an hour wait. When I finally received a car it was a Corolla. It had damage on the trunk ...damage on the side and a chip on the windshield which hadn't been marked down. No key fob to enter and when I got in the vehicle, stains on the passenger seat. It looked like an old used vehicle from a car lot. Not happy at all but it was the only car available in the entire airport so had to take it.

She and her colleague matched the price and the type of car I had originally reserved with Enterprise that could not deliver. I was originally offered a car with a cracked windshield but once I expressed my dissatisfaction with the rental I was offered a new rental without any hassle. The customer service was excellent. My only issue is I don't think budget should be renting cars with cracked windshields for safety reasons. (The crack was about 30cm in length)

Booked a car and ended up waiting an hour and a half for it. Not happy! And there were lots of other unhappy people waiting as well. They offered the package for $100 that included not having to fill the vehicle with gas when you return it. We declined it and ended up putting over a 1000 kl ms and filled up for $60.00. To save on costs booked our car with AMEX as they have insurance for rental vehicles as does our car insurance at home.

It's amazing how one person can completely change an experience. We rented a car in Montreal and picked it up in the airport. Upon pick up I was left with a sour taste in my mouth because the gentleman that served me was rather pushy with regards to upgrading my vehicle for twice the price. When I finally convinced him I was fine with the van I had rented, the one we got had a bunch of damage that hadn't been recorded. It was just an extra thing to deal with after a day of flying. If I had written the review then, it would have been a lower rating for sure. Then after a successful visit and no issues with the van, I flew home and realized I had left something fairly important behind so I called Lost and Found. Not only did they find the item I was looking for, they found an additional item I hadn't realized had been left! Trista from Budget was extremely helpful and friendly. Dealing with her completely turned my experience around. Thanks for the incredible service Trista!

I had to wait over 30 minutes in line (there were only 2 people ahead of me-one was already being served when we walked up). There was only one budget associate working and the line continued to grow as he very slowly served the people a head of us. I did not appreciate the attempt to upsell us on things we didn’t need either (extra insurance options, winter tires upgrade fee and so on). My suggestion is to have more people working. It was ridiculous to have to wait as long as we did for a pre-booked car.

On 19 August am, I went to Budget counter at Calgary Airport to get the car I reserved. At the counter, I met Dallas (the Budget representative) and explained to him the difficulties I had to complete a reservation on line and also by phone. I would have given a zero star if it was possible. First of all the manager there is extremely rude. Second of all after waiting there for over an hour and a half they told me that I can’t rent the car as I have international license card and I also needed a international credit card for that they won’t accept my credit card of this country even though I am an international student here and before I have rented a lot of cars from other companies but didn’t have this kind of problem. Still when I asked him nicely is it still possible to somehow manage a car for rent or something cause all the other companies were booked and we also had our trip planned on that day so we didn’t want our trip to get cancelled. Instead of saying a straight no he starting to behave rudely for some reason. And I would recommend never to book a car with them or avis.

Overall everything was okay (not great) except for one thing. The counter person tried to get us to pay $125.9 a litre for them to refill the car when we returned it because she said it was 128.9 a litre if we went to a gas station to fill it ourselves. Gas has NEVER been that much in Calgary, and sure enough that evening it was 111.9 and had dropped another 3 cents by the time we returned the car. Not sure why she felt the need to lie to us or if mgmt puts their staff up to it, but beware.

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY - YOU WILL BE EXTRA CHARGED I got the car at the airport and noticed that the gas was almost full, but not completely full (just on the full line). Sure enough as with any other rental company, I fill the tank and return it with gas above the full line, in other words, more than the time I got it. I returned it at 4am what is after hours and there was nobody there. I got the invoice and paid for the rental. A month later, I get charged for $50 saying that they filled the tank and it was 13 liter missing. So I explain to them and they asked me if I reported that the gas wasn't completely full when I picked up. Of course I did not report since I never did with any other agency and had never a problem. And them the agent tell me that if there was no proof, and that there was 13 liters missing from the tank, he could do nothing. how can a car run 20 km from the gas station to the drop off location with 13 liters? I rent cars frequently and never had this problem, and yes, it was my first and last time with budget. NEVER USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!

Used Priceline to book a rental. It was 115.00. My wife got to the airport and budget rental and they charged 263.00. A bunch of extra fees were added. I will be calling and not paying. Worst experience renting ever. Enterprise will be getting our business I should have never used them.

The lady named Jannie on the counter has given a real hard time to me. First of all, she wants to oversell the stuff forcefully, on which I said no. After that she has given me Chevy Spark. Since I did not see that car before, I thought it was okay. But when I got to see one, I was so disappointed, because I booked the regular size sedan. I went back and asked her for any sedan, because I've booked sedan, on which she has told that all she has is Spark. And I want a bigger car I have to pay extra. I felt bad and called customer care and did the argument for almost an hour where they say they cannot do anything because counter has all the power of inventory. Then I again went to a counter when I met a very nice guy who has given me Elenatra right away just like that. It was so easy. I thanked him and got the car. Everything else went smooth. When I book any car and I got confirmation email saying that I will get the similar or higher car when I go to a counter, I was rest assured that I will be served. This is the first time I had this bad experience just because of that adamant lady. I have to think twice before booking in Budget car , because not their all employee hot a proper training. Responding to your comment : My booking Confirmation Number was : 16085189US1.FORD FOCUS 4DR/4PSGR or similar or similar. So it was not a free upgrade. You guys had the vehicle. It was an only a person problem and not a company problem.

Recently hired a car from here with a very negative experience. We prepaid our fee expecting to only have to pay for the additional driver fee. When we arrived person at the counter (Nadia) tried to charge us a further $160 with no other explanation other than the fact it was what she showed us on the screen. Obviously we refused and after half an hour she said to speak to the manager when we returned the car. When we returned we filled the car up with fuel as we had agreed to do full to full, however they still tried to charge us. Again we complained about this and got it taken off. We had to go to the service desk to question the fees yet again. Here we had to query numerous charges that could not be explained and eventually had them taken off. I feel as if budget were trying to defraud us Andy it was only because of our own persistence that they did not achieve this. Would NOT recommend.

Very disappointed with this service! we booked a rental car weeks prior to our vacation from Ontario to Calgary only to arrive from our late flight (12am) to be told that the car we rented was not there. We were told to wait an hour and "hopefully" one will be returned or that we can go "shop around" and see if another company had any rentals available. After sending us on a frantic search the budget employee called us back over to tell us that there was a luxury car available at an extra cost (daily). Although the employee did what he could to help us this company is horrible and i will never be renting from them again. Definitely do not recommend and if you have booked a car from them follow up to make sure the car will be available for your arrival to avoid the headache.

This location is a scam. My friend rent a car for 2 days for 130$ CAD and I gonna take over the car for next 3 days. We came to ask the extension and the they told us that they will update on the system and we just need to pay 80$ extra more. We asked for the paper but they said the printer is broken but everything is updated on system. BOOM, My friend got a bill for over 300$ US + over 60$ for additional charge for no reason. It is totally a scam. I would not recommend this place.

Flew into YYC and upon arriving at the rental desk, I was informed I would be driving an Elantra. I had rented an Elantra a few months ago and really didn't like the way it handled. So I said so and then the lovely lady behind the desk offered me a free upgrade to an SUV instead. I really enjoyed driving it and I'm so grateful for the extra care. It ended up being necessary as our first night camping was too wet and windy to set up our huge tent...so we slept in the back of the vehicle...all cozy and dry! The rest of our camping trip was dry and hot. Huge shout out to Jasmine for taking such good care of me and my daughter for our vacation!

I was asking him if we should bring the car back with a full tank or how that works and he didn't explain that I would be best to bring it with an empty tank because I would pay for the full refill anyway so I brought it back with lots of fuel. The customer service is poor at best. I have a $350 dollar charge on my credit card that was made PRIOR to me dropping it off and NO ONE will provide an explanation. Even if this is a deposit, it should have been explained. They are open until 1am; it's 10pm and I keep getting transferred to their support line who will do nothing to explain. Absolutely brutal experience. Rented a car through air miles and paid the taxes on the car. A couple days later I asked my father to call and inquire about how much it would cost to keep the car for a week. They instantly charged me 700+ dollars without my permission or any contact with me. Now I can’t get any straight answer out of anyone if my money is being returned or if it was even charged. Been told that they’re keeping the money till I return the car, yet that was the money I was keeping to rent a hotel. So now me and my kids have nowhere to sleep on my vacation. Guess We’re all sleeping in the rental car. I’d rather dig my own eyeballs out with a rusty spoon then ever deal with these fraudulent scam artists ever again.

What can I say I had prebooked a car here supposed to be picked up at 3pm. Arrive at the counter at 330pm (my flight was late getting in) to find out that 'due to weather' they have no vehicles and that would mean I would have to wait another 1 to 2 hours for a car. I inquire further as the weather in the city did not seem that bad and she told me it was due to the weather out in the mountains. Now I am left to possibly take a cab to and from my meeting this evening on my own dime just because there was a lack of planning on their behalf. I work in a similar industry and full well know the 'weather related' reason is an excuse for their own issues that prevents them from reimbursing customers for their delay Due to this I will not be renting from this location or any other budget location. I strongly recommend that you, as reader of this review, do so as well.

Flew into Calgary for my mother's 90th birthday and get to the counter to see a huge group of people waiting. Sign on the counter says to expect a minimum one hour delay in getting my car. Just like airlines overbooking flights, they are overbooking cars here. I was told for $90 extra (for a 24 hour booking!) they could upgrade me. I opted to wait but after half an hour gave in, stood in line a second time and was told for an extra $20 they could upgrade me and get me on my way. The upgrade was nothing special and in my mind, nothing more than a cash grab. Booked it through Costco's Car Trawler and won't be using their service again. I wouldn't complain except the same thing just happened to my brother with Budget which makes me wonder if they're scheming. Not impressed.

Almost two hours waiting time. Than the lady told us it is just washing and we need to wait an other 30 minutes. But she told that already all the others before us. So i told her to give us a car right now. I'm not going to wait any longer. She just used bad language and disapeared and she came back with a key. We needed to search for the car and than we opened it and we found out that it was so dirty inside. Under front window, the wheel, the cup holders everything was sticky. In the front window were a lot of stripes so the vision was terrible. Cleaned it ourselves...

Gentleman at kiosk was very friendly and explained everything in detail, he even went through the 2 gate exit system which was great because it defiantly is confusing. If I could give this location zero stars I would. The staff here is extremely rude, the place is filthy and run down. My flight got changed and I arrived 3 hours earlier than planned and the extremely rude woman said I'd have to wait the 3 hours to get a car UNLESS I wanted to pay more for an upgrade. Back on August 04/20 at about 8:24am a guy driving a black Jeep limited that was budget rent a car was travelling west bound in airport trail behind me proceed to pass me in a construction zone where the speed limit was posted 50 km and he went into the east bound where there was gravel rocks all over the road at this time he was probably doing 90 km in a 50km starting fishtailing and spraying rocks all over the front of my truck where a few rock ms cracked my windshield and a few rocks chipped the front of my hood. I followed the vehicle and got the license plate number E-03479. I called Dallas Henderson from budget rent a car claims department and filed a claim. Dallas Henderson told me that they couldn’t do anything because the driver didn’t use there insurance company and the drive hasn’t responded to email and phone call from Dallas and Vin Co. don’t trust budget rent a car for doing the right thing when it comes to situations like this. I have called and left multiple messages for Dallas and Vin but have heard nothing from Them as of yet. They have washed there hands if the hole things. Terrible respect for other..... today is September 28th and have heard nothing from Vin Co..,,,,,,Vin Co why is this not taken care of yet???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

After renting a car from Budget in Calgary, my company is working to change the policy to using taxis in Calgary instead of rental cars due to fraudulent behavior by Budget. When I rented the car, the people at Budget weren't able to assist me in searching the car for damage and asked me to annotate any damage myself. I didn't notice any at the time. Upon return, there was a crack in the windshield underneath the windshield wipers which I hadn't even thought to look for. The man inspecting the car instructed me when I was concerned I hadn't noticed it upon rental that it would be no problem. Just fill out this form and our claims adjusters would waive the damage when it's noted the prior rental had returned the car with damage. They inspect these cars multiple times so it shouldn't be a problem. I asked if I could take pictures of the damage because it was in a place I didn't think to look. They insisted I fill out a claims form before I photographed the car. After I filled out the form I went outside to and the car was gone; they told me it would be an hour to get it back, knowing I was there to catch a flight. They willfully prevented me from documenting the damage. And all those inspections that they supposedly do? I was provided an inspection report that was over 500 km less on the odometer than when I took possession of the car as proof the car had no damage. I pointed this out and they simply replied that the report they provided me was from when the last person checked out the car, not when they returned it. Somehow all these inspections they supposedly do disappear into thin air when they are needed. In short, they didn't assist me in inspecting the vehicle at check out, they denied me the opportunity to document damage to the vehicle by hiding it from me, then they refused to provide an inspection report from the last return, selectively providing me with an old report. Seriously, if you're in Calgary, take a taxi. It's a small town and not worth the hassle of dealing with fraudulent rental agencies.

I don’t think it could have been any better. The car gave good mileage and was very comfortable. Please include directions on how to get back to the Budget receiving area to return the car.

I strongly recommend staying away from Budget. To start, when we booked the car on the website, we chose an automatic transmission because my friend and I, who were the designated drivers, have never driven manual. When we arrived at the Budget counter at Keflavik airport, the receptionist informed us that the car reserved was manual. Nowhere on our confirmation did it say we reserved a manual car. We were charged extra for the automatic transmission AND, since they had no small automatic cars left, we were charged excess for Jeeps and vans. Next, the receptionist who started speaking to us very rudely told us that we could not rent the car without insurance even though we showed proof that we were already covered by our credit card insurance for up to 50,000 USD. We even offered to cancel the whole transaction and start over without the insurance, but she would not allow us to do so. So she forced us to pay for an insurance that I have already paid through my credit card. We wrote to them on these matters and they didn't compensate us at all. Terrible company and terrible service.

This place price gauges for fuel. How does 18 liters (roughly about 4.5 gallons) equate to $39 US Dollars. This should be illegal and should be stopped. BTW - for some reason you can't just top off your vehicle anywhere - you have to prepay for gas. I don't know how much a rental takes to top off. Beyond frustrating.

I would give 0 stars if possible. Arrived about 45mins early for pickup and they attempted charging an additional $50 for early pickup. They didn't even tell me about the price increase - just said "look at the screen and hit confirm" and it was $50 more. On top of that, the attendant at the counter tried giving me a worse car than I had booked, and kept trying to get me to pay more for an SUV. I decided to go to the competitor counter nearby (Dollar), and ended up getting an SUV for $6 more and the vehicle was ready to go.

Terrible service picking up the car. I was given different information on the phone prior to picking up as I did at the pickup. The staff told me there would be no issues as I had a later flight and I would have 24 hours to pick it up. When I got there 3 hours later the car was gone and they forced me to pay more for a car I didn't want. If I can give a 0 star I would. So much hidden fees I got a $135 quote online and I’ve prepaid but They charged us $377 for a day and an hour. I would never rent from budget again. I’ve rented from Alamo and enterprise there were hidden fees but not this much. They wouldn’t tell you how much extra you need to pay for the insurance and damage wavier fee even though you have already selected the very basic plan online and thought that you’ve already paid everything except the refundable deposit. We’ve booked the car from 5:30-5:30 however we’ve got our car around 6pm. We returned it at 6:27pm due to traffic and was charged one hour more which I understood but they’ve charged us $30 more for 1-day extra wavier. And there was a concession recovery fee which was around $40 but we weren’t told that we should pay for this upfront.

Advertised "Jeep Grand Cherokee or similar" and gave me a Hyundai Santa Fe. Santa Fe is by no means a bad car, just the not "similar" to a Grand Cherokee. The staff also told me I HAVE TO buy fuel from them, because I need to either return the car with full tank and receipt showing that the gas station is within 5 miles of the rental center or buy a full tank from them up front and return the car with an empty tank. And told me there's no gas station within 5 miles so I have no option but to buy a full tank from them (at $1.28/liter, charged me $90.62). But the truth is there are multiple gas station around airport within 5 miles. Feeling deceived throughout this whole experience.

Don't normal post reviews but this was by far my worst experience with Budget, and I have used them exclusively for the past few years. When I book through Budget, I book through a corporate discount program. Although I am 24, I usually get the underage fee waived and a discount on the rental, but not this time. Even after showing the agent the price I was quoted online (had the email), the price I was asked to pay was almost twice as much. After explaining the situation to the agent (Jay), he would not budge. When I asked to speak to a manager, he said he was the manager and said he can't do anything about it. I went to a competitor and they gave me a complimentary upgrade to a full-size car vs. Budget's compact, they waived the underage fee, gave me the discount, gave me a bottle of water, and treated me with respect. Avoid this Budget. Also, train your employees on customer service. I'd much rather take my business to the competitor.

I'm here to name the problem I had with Budget, his name is Victorino and he's the guy at the counter at Calgary airport. Such a rude and disrespectful man. This was our the experience: Our flight arrived somewhat late (which can happen frequently when talking about flights). We arrived at the budget desk at 9pm instead of 8pm which was the time of our reservation. There were only two groups in front of us but even so, we had to wait an hour and a half!! Once it was our turn, here came the whole problem. He told us at first that our reservation had expired since they only hold the reservation for an hour, and that therefore they had given our reserved car to someone else. We tried to justify him that 1) we could not predict that our flight would have arrived late and 2) that at nine o'clock we had arrived at the budget desk, but we were waiting +1h for him to attend the other groups. Here is when he started to get angry and speak to us with contempt and in bad manners. The conversation continued for 20 minutes, in which we were only trying to find a fair solution for everyone. At various times he told us that we were being very aggressive with him, however, we only tried to make him listen to us and understand that the delay had not been our fault. In the end, we asked him for the number of his manager or some superior and he refused to call and give us his contact! How did the story end? Well, what a coincidence that the only option he offered us was to upgrade the type of car and pay +20 CAD per day. The remaining experience with Budget was good enough, good car and easy to return the vehicle, unfortunately, the experience we had with Victorino made our vision of Budget very negative!! Honestly, I do think a person like him should not work for the public as a customer service.

Booked a Ford Fusion or equal through Costco travel and when it was time at the counte the person tried to sell me upgrades such as an suv glass protection etc. and all turned out to triple the costs of my original reservation. I politely turned all the offer “upgrades” down because it was triple the costs of my original reservation. The girl proceeded to ring up a costs of a $100+ over my reservation costs and expalined that it was in Canadian dollars and my print out that I had was in US dollars, which it was not. The car she gave me was a Hydai Elantra and I pointed out that I reserved a Ford Fusionor equal, and she said they were the same class, which they are not. I took the car and will contest the billing through my credit card company. Never had such an encounter with any car rental company, and I had dealt with them all. This is the worst of my experiences.

Showed up on time to pick up my rental that I had booked a month prior. They were running on a 1 hour delay on pickups and decided to charge me twice what the online booking system said I’d be paying. I put in all my age and license info online when I booked and they still tacked on a young driver fee that should have been included online when I was trying to pick up the car. For work I rent almost every week from the YEG airport Budget with no issue. The YYC has left a bad taste in my mouth. After the scare tactics trying to upgrade me to a 4×4 or winter tire vehicle for city driving and no snow on the ground, I should have been suspicious. She told me there are no gas stations near the Calgary airport and they have a fuel option for 10 cents below market price. I asked her if it would be cheaper than if I fueled it myself. She said yes. What she didn't say was that I would be charged for a full tank instead of the half tank I used. $56 for half a tank on a Cruz. Additionally, when I was first handed a set of keys I went to inspect the vehicle, it was dirty and covered in mud, the front and side mirrors. I was told it was from bug juice that didn't wash off (in snow conditions remember). I walked back to the front desk and asked for another vehicle. They magically had another vehicle that was clean. I will no longer use Budget when booking for my company at this airport location. The service and honesty of staff are below par in comparison to other options. **Update** Looks like I am not the only customer that was fed these lies, based on other reviews. I have contacted their customer service below and will confirm if that actually amounts to anything.

I have rented cars from the Montreal airport for several years now. I have found in multiple occasions that the agents at Budget and Avis are extremely rude. Very long wait times when busy. Also, they do not respect the car size you book online based on your expedia itinerary. Do yourself a favor, pay a few dollars more and go with Alamo. They are professional agents and often very helpful. I have also found that they give you better cars. The Alamo desk is right next to the Budget/Avis desk.

Other car rental companies offered free upgrade for first time car rental, while I didnt even get an option to choose which intermediate car to get, instead I received upsell pitch from your rep and inefficient service. I have had the worst experience with Budget and I will never recommend this company to anyone. I had been on the phone with budget and received confirmation that I could come in and pick up the vehicle I was interested in for that day. I live 50 minutes away and when I made my way down I was then told that the vehicle cannot be rented because it was not serviced. My frustration stems from the fact that I had called at least twice to confirm if I can take that specific vehicle and was told yes but when getting there it was not available. Not only did they waste my time I have lost trust in their words. Instead of offering me another vehicle of that type they simply said they have no others cars and that I am free to go to another company.

There was a sign on the plexi glass divider that said prepaid fuel was $1.30 per litre while it was $1.42 at the pump but I was charged $1.379 on the bill. I pointed it out to the lady who grabbed the sign immediately before I had a chance to take a picture of it. When I took the vehicle back I had filled it up and asked them to remove that charge but they left it on and billed me for it anyway. The pickup employee was friendly but I believe she felt overwhelmed as she had many people waiting for vehicles due to a shortage as well.

Worst experience I have ever had with a car rental company. If I could give a negative rating I would. Previous to landing in Calgary I rented a car from Budget Halifax airport who were fantastic. Budget calgary airport was 180 degrees opposite. The woman at the counter was unhelpful, rude, and acted like she was doing us a favor by renting us the car. She also kept pushing upsells for more expensive options..more insurance etc.when she was told no she acted like a spoiled child. The car fob was non functional at least once every day as it seemed to have some kind of short circuit and drained the battery completely each day. We found this out when we made a stop in the mountains and the fob was completely dead. Without power to the fob the car was non functional. When I called calgary airport budget to get roadside assistance it was refused and I was told to go buy batteries myself and I would be re-imbursed. With no way to get to a store I was stranded which budget Calgary airport was informed of and still no help. So I had to find and pay for my own roadside assistance despite being told by budget Calgary airport when the car was picked up that I was covered.No assistance..no help and when i came to turn the car in there was no reimbursement for fob batteries as promised..just a belligerent customer service rep at the counter. DO NOT EVER RENT A CAR FROM THIS BUDGET LOCATION!!!!! I will be submitting a complaint with the better business bureau as well as inquiring with Calgary police services if this will constitute a fraud case.

All rental companies seem the same. Budget was even the same as Avis at our destination! We got upsold a car with GPS/Navigation. And while it mostly worked, it had no idea about all of the road closures, whether streets were one way or not, much less had any connectivity to real time conditions. Most of our milage was in circles! The Avis lady, when we picked it up, had already tried to off the same car to the people in line before us. She also had us sign that there was nothing wrong with the car (visual inspection) before leaving the counter and setting eyes on it. At Pierre Trudeau Airport it is not clear AT ALL what to do with keys at drop off. There is no key drop box or sign anywhere. Leave them in the car so it can be stolen? Doesn’t seem like a very well run company.

We arrived at the check in desk after our flight to find out it’s an hour wait for a car from the check in time, not from when you actually reserved your car for.. they obviously over extend and don’t have enough cars.. they try to blame it on a province shortage issue, but it’s not true, other companies do not have these delays- my sister got a car from enterprise immediately at the same time! They make you pre pay so that you can’t change companies, because they know that they don’t have enough cars..On top of everything the customer service was brutal- laugh in your face and walk away kind of service. I booked a car in October for December 25, 2016. When I arrived at the Budget counter, I was told that there was no car available. After a few minutes and after showing some signs of dissatisfaction, they said there will be a vehicle but we'll have to wait. With 2 young kids, we had to wait an hour to get a car. Experience at the Calgary Airport Budget Car Rental Counter was very transactional and wasn't very Service oriented. Our reservation was from 9pm to 9pm return and I was at the counter at 830pm and the counter staff even tried to overcharge us due to that 30min returning difference without explanation or obtaining our approval by make us understand. If I didn't check and question same we would have got over charged. Vehicle was very comfortable and it was a Brand New Vehicle that compensated for the counter staff service experience. Counter staff also didn't provide us direction where to pick up vehicle. My rating here is mostly based on service experience than the vehicle experience. Service experience could be better.

I rented a vehicle in Calgary, AB during winter to drive to Canmore and Banff. This requires driving in heavy winter conditions. The tires were in not in good condition for the weather, and the windshield was cracked. Both of these conditions can create serious safety concerns in winter weather. The lack of routine maintenance is astonishing. The last time I had broken window in a vehicle, I was able to have it fixed by the next day, so operating a vehicle in this condition seems completely unnecessary.

Although our itinerary and need for winter tires was stated; the car which was not the make or model reserved had very poor traction and was dangerous to drive in even the lightest patches of dry snow. Vehicle had to be pushed over wet or packed snow. Staff were unhelpful and unconcerned with the gap between confirmed price and actual. Watch for extras.

Except.. 1) Did not buy any Refuel Policy because we always refill our car before we return, but the closest Fuel station was more than 5kms away and the one within 5km is CanadaPass (u will need a pass to refill here). We returned the car with fuel slightly more than the halfway line, and the person who collected the car say they won't charge the full amount as i explained to them the petrol station issue. I checked my bank statements and got charged full. Advice: If this occurs to you, take your time and drive around the town more, or maybe even drive around the airport until its nearly empty, see the planes take off, see the different cars and people departing or arriving at the airport. Enjoy the scenery. Enjoy the remainder fuel that u still have to pay a full tank for.

Worst experience ever. Booked a van 2 months in advance to accommodate my family of 6. After checking in we were told to sit and wait for the van. 45 min later I had to ask for an update. Only at this point did they tell me, they did not have a vehicle, and that they were trying to find one. They never did find one. I had to rent a smaller vehicle from their competitor. It cost me an additional $200, which budget refused to pay for. I will never use Budget again.

I rented a car here for an entire week a few months ago. the car was returned in pristine condition. a month later I notice a 250$ charge on my corporate Amex. no notice of this debit was given to me. No phone call, no email, just a charge. I called the location directly to inquire about the charge and left 5 voicemails as no one would answer the phone. None of my voicemails were returned. I finally called the 1800 number and was treated very rudely by the agent on the phone. I was told that this was a cleaning fee. I was sent a photo of what appear to be salt stains on the carpet. it was not even snowing when I rented the car. needless to say this location is run by unscrupulous gangsters that will charge your card without your approval for whatever amount they see fit. As the director of IT for an international company I can honestly say that my department will never use a budget car again. Ever. I will also tirelessly propagate my experience with budget to every professional I know. BEWARE DO NOT RENT FROM THESE CROOKS.

We showed up late at night about 20 minutes prior to closing time. We had rented a Chevy Malibu. A discussion about directions came up, as we are from the US and our phone data for maps did not beyond wifi. Victorino, a man of Philippine ethnicity, decided to offer us a free upgrade to a new Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 pickup truck because he believed it had a GPS built in to it. We thought it was required of him to help, but the encouraging part was that he saw the need and wanted to meet it without exploiting it or trying to take the opportunity to up-sale us. The general impression was care and that's encouraging in life in general when people do what they can to help without trying to get something for it.

Because I had a fast break account, you don't go through the rates etc. You think fast break is a good thing, until you get stung with a bill of $8500 for a 19 day rental, yes 8.5k. And the fact that I had fast break, due to COVID I still had to go to the desk, but the rep didn't bother to advise me of the obscene price gouge, the only had me sign for the car condition, not the rates, otherwise I would have picked up on it. The booking was made by a travel agent for the price charged, as we are a busy service company, we have never had to second guess bookings till now. If this location would have been honorable p, they would have pointed this out at collection, but that never happened. This location is privately owned, so they can charge what they want, and it's the same For Calgary airport Avis. That being said, upon my initial request to Corporate Budget, they advised that the rental should have been no more than $2500, however they did absolutely nothing to assist in resolving this injustice. Budget head office, offered me a 30% refund, then changed their mind when they realized Calgary Airport Budget and Avis are licensed locations so basically they can charge what they like without any recourse whatsoever I have since Canceled my Fastbreak and will not be using Budget or Avis anymore. Especially the Calgary airport location.

This rental event took place in the Summer of 2018. (中文評論請看下一章) We reserved for a full-size car because we knew we will need the space to carry all the baby items for our 14 months son plus 3 adults and their personal belongings. We didn’t mind paying a bit more for a bigger sized car, our reservation voucher stated our vehicle will be the type Chevy Impala or similar. When arriving at the Budget counter in Calgary airport we were provided with a car named Elantra. I reaffirmed with the lady at the counter if this is full size car, she replied “yes it is”. As we got to the car, judging from the exterior form, it was difficult for us to admit this is a full size car. Quick search through Hyundai’s website I realized Elantra is a compact vehicle. I went back to the counter and told the receptionist what we noticed and she told me again it is a full-size car according to their policy. So I asked her what do you consider as full-size cars, she verbally listed out a few other vehicles including this one. I told her my voucher shows the vehicle I’ve booked is Chevy Impala or similar and she said she doesn’t have the keys for those (which means the vehicle is not available?). She then suggested I upgrade to a Grand Cherokee for extra $20 a day if I needed the extra space. I thought about it but refused thinking why I have to get nailed for extra charges when the vehicle I’ve reserved is not available? Because we were really pressing for time and my son and others were waiting for me in the parkade I walked away from the counter accepted the fact that this is what we are getting. As we were loading our stuffs into the vehicle we quickly realized the 1 full and 2 medium sized luggages along with a stroller will not fit into this car. At this point I was extremely infuriated with the whole situation. I started looking around the parkade and noticed 2 Budget Chevy Impala, 1 Ford Fusion right across from us and a Chevy Malibu next to us. I made a note of their stall numbers and went back to the counter demanding for an answer why these vehicles were not offered to us but yet they are in the parkade. The lady (now a different receptionist) went to the cabinet and tried to look for keys for these stall numbers and she still couldn’t find them. She then took off without saying anything, I was pretty sure she was going to this little booth in the parkade to look for keys. By the time she returns she had a hand full of keys and told me couldn’t find key for the Ford Fusion but can offer Chevy Malibu in exchange. At this time I as long it’s a bigger car than what we currently have I didn’t really care what brand what model it is. I took the key, signed some paper and off we went. The whole ordeal wasted over an hour, in the end we got a bigger car but why do we have to put extra effort to prove they were wrong? If the full-size car we reserved was indeed not available, we should be provided with an honest answer and given a discount to go one size down, this is understandable. Instead we were untruthfully informed and treated. The atmosphere of the entire trip was a wash-down because of it. The thought “how will they nail us when returning the car?” was always on my mind every moment we had the car. But to be fair, the return process was painless. One other note, as I was waiting for the receptionist to return from her trip fetching the keys I noticed a couple beside me who were just getting ready to go. We got to our vehicles pretty much at the same time and noticed they drove off in a white Chevy Impala parked right across from us. This was the same receptionist who told me she didn’t have the key to an Impala. Not sure how to make out of this… discrimination? The take away from all this is, know the types of cars under the category you have reserved, know them well (listed in their website). Never settle for anything less, or ask for lower rate if you’re willing to accept for a smaller vehicle.

Showed up at 9:45 AM to pick up our car, only to queue for over a half-hour. All the other agencies at YYC were properly staffed and without queues; Budget had one agent (later, a second showed up). Had a great experience with Budget car rental Calgary, airport. They accomodated me very efficiently, offered better car choice on pickup day( without extra charge) and had a prompt reply in customer service and admin contact. Was very pleased above all else in their honesty, since I left my tablet in their car rental. I had to call them day after and was delivered to me in same day ( i paid the courier fee, of course because they had to deliver it from calgary to winnipeg!) 5 star rating for their pleased service!!!

The most horrible customer experience I have ever had with a rental company. I called this past Tuesday cause I had summer tires on and it was snowing and I was concerned about my safety. The budget customer care simply said it’s not their problem and hung up on me, not once but twice. Worst customer service ever. My whole company won’t be renting from budget for sure. You need to train your people to treat their customer with the utmost respect and put customers’ safety as a priority. I am never renting a car from budget again.

I normally rent from Enterprise but I forgot to book my car until a couple days before my arrival and by that time no cars were available so the next lowest priced option was Budget. I have been renting a car from this airport every other weekend for the past year and a half and usually rent from thursday morning until sunday night. My previous rental from enterprise cost me $70 dollars all in. Budget quoted me just over 200 for the same time period with a similar size vehicle. As I was picking up my car the woman at the desk suggested I get a vehicle with winter tires. There was no snow in the forecast and being from Fort McMurray I really didnt care if it had them or not. She insisted that I have them so I am like whatever. There was no mention of any additional charge for the tires. As I am signing I noticed the amount now due for the rental was $275. I figured maybe this was just a security deposit or something and I would sort out when I return the car. Upon my return I tell the staff member that there must be a mistake as I was quoted just over $200 when I booked. She is looking and looking and then she said oh you got winter tires. That is an additonal $15 dollars a day! Im like oh :( So ya budget $275 instead of $70. Who would you rent from? P.S. Enterprise cars are equipped with winter tires at no additional charge.

Reserved the car more than a month ahead, only to be told to wait an extra hour even if our flight was delayed by 3 hours. Actually worst customer service ever, guy at the counter talked to me the entire time with his face mask down to his chin. Offered no explanation for delays, did not answer my questions when I asked if it was a supply issue vs personnel shortage. Simply told me to look at the sign saying there will be 1-hour delays and to “open my mind”. He even gaslighted me by telling me I was being selfish (he was comparing me to another customer who had been waiting there longer, although after discussing with them we found out their reservation was much later). As I’m writing this review, it’s been 1 hour and 20 minutes and still no car. Whoever his manager is - please hold him accountable for this type of behaviour.

When we received the car there were greasy finger prints all over windows. This does not seem to be an efficient system. Excellent experience, rented a car for one day for business in Calgary. Pick up was quick and easy, as was drop off. Staff was extremely friendly. SUV we rented was fully loaded, clean and just what we required. I was so pleased that I rented a car that same weekend to drive to Lake Louise, I was even able to pick up the car at one location downtown and return it to the airport. So convenient!

I am not satisfied with my Budget experience. In my confirmation reservation, the estimated total was different (30% less) from the one they gave me at the rental place. When I inquired about it, they said they will speak to the manager the following day and to check on my return. When I returned the car I asked and the person was unable to explain the difference, ended up saying that it was the price without taxes (which is not correct, they are different numbers). I am left with the feeling that I was overcharged inappropriately, but since I was in a bit of a rush I couldn't straitened things up. Overall not great. Thinking about complaining through the consumer office.

Most terrible thing happened to me and a couple of people who had been there on our pick-up time! I had a reservation at 5 pm, Thursday. They called me from the branch and confirmed my reservation at 4 pm and I made it clear that I will be there 15-10 minutes to 5 there to pick my car up. I got there at very mentioned time, and no one was at branch!!! The branch was already closed and there were people to pick their car up too! All of us waited in the cold outside of the branch and finally, all of my trip plan was blown up! Worst experience ever! Never gonna try budget again.

When I do most things online, my concern is that they'll actually be done right once it's time to pick up/receive my order. Not only that, but this reservation was done through a 3rd party (my discount received through being a USAA member). I was PLEASANTLY surprised to check in at the counter and have ZERO issues with my rental. And after a long (and early morning) flight from Dallas, TX to Montreal, Canada, it was great to arrive at the counter and quickly receive my rental. Kudos!

A friend had called in to book a car for a road trip..there purpose of the call was to box a minivan with all wheel drive and snow tires. The agent assured us that the all wheel drive would be noted on the account..we arrived in Calgary to pick up the van and we were told there was no note on the file and an all wheel drive van would not be available. Also, if we wanted snow tires it would be extra to the existing booking!! Our rep told us they could not honor the booking and recommended we shop around for better deals. Of course same day rental cost was terrible from other companies. At the end of the day, we go a Santa Fe with all wheel drive and snow tires at the same cost. However, the intial customer service was terrible and the 4 of us (plus snowboards and skiis) has to cram into the Santa Fe..

When I arrived in Calgary to pick up car the customer service girl was rude. very low spoken i had said Pardon quite a few times. She didn't tell me where to go just go thru those doors. Nothing was discussed. I felt like she was trying to get rid of me fast but yet there was nobody else in line. Winter driving tires were not discussed as she knew I was going to BC. Therefore I could not drive the rental car for 4 days while in BC as it is manditory to have winter tires on the car!!!

I had a very bad experience renting from this company. I was involved in an accident when a truck drove into my car and damaged the side of my car. I informed the company that it was not my fault and provided them with the police report and photographic evidences showing the damage to my car and orientation of the truck ( the front wheel steered towards my side and the truck occupying a portion of my lane) which crashed into mine. Despite the evidences, I was still charged a fee of C$500 although I was not the cause of the accident. I wrote to Mr. Dallas Henderson to carry out an investigation based on the facts I provided him and do a review but received no reply despite repeated reminders. So much for customer service keeping customers in the dark.

Overall our experience was okay. I was extremely unimpressed with the lady at the counter when we arrived. She made me feel like it was my fault that our plane was delayed and that she had to give away someone else's car to me because we missed our pick up time. The price is not what you think. They charge you taxes and fees after you return the car which is a total crock. Then I booked with Enterprise they were upfront about it and don't hide behind the small print. Budget rentals is no longer for those on a budget. My prebook price was 757 but when I got back they slapped another 300 in taxes and fees. Never booking with Budget again. The car was clean and very nice but they all are from every company. My favourite so far is Enterprise by far. Lower prices. Better cars. Wayyyy better service.

There was no line at the check in counter; the service agent was efficient, knowledgeable and courteous (in French and English); the car (a Jetta) was exactly what I ordered (and pre paid); drop off was at 6am and the agent then was friendly and knowledgeable. This location has really gone down hill over the last 2 years. My latest experience was not good. I always book a full size car but I was told they don't rent full sized cars anymore so I was "upgraded" to a Rogue. I disagreed, this is not an upgrade when they had more appropriate upgrades sitting there. The other issue is there was a major hail storm in Calgary and the vehicles are hail damaged but the paperwork makes no mention of the damage. I used to rave about this location when I first started flying to YYC and had some of the nicest vehicles I've been in including the Volvo S90.

I reserved compact vehicle with an impression it fits a family of five with cargo (i.e. what costco travel says from where I booked). When I found it was not enough for us, I requested an upgrade. Budget offered me an upgrade by paying $15 per day, which I agreed and paid more. However, Budget still provided me a hatchback with not enough seating and cargo space to fit five people, knowing I am looking for a bigger vehicle and paid extra to upgrade. Budget kept saying to call later to change the vehicle. I called several times and spoke with the staff, but nothing happened. Budget ruined my trip and ripped me off by paying more, but not delivering to the service. See the picture and decide is it an intermediate car and worth paying $15 per day more from compact?

Slow service. It takes the woman 20 minutes per customer and there was only one. When we went up behind the only other customers in line, she rudely told us that the line starts diagonally across. Keep in mind, there are no other customers. She shut me down before i could tell her im a fast break member and there was an express line nearby. We arrived at Calgary today at 12:30 pm. When we came to the airport today and went to get our car that was prepaid for one week ago, we were met with the utmost unprofessional behaviour. At 1 pm, we were told our car was coming and to wait. It is now 2:30, and after being stalled for this long, we were notified that the car we paid for and reserved was not available. We were offered an alternative vehicle instead. I specifically searched for this vehicle and paid for it. If it is not available, I should have been notified of this in advance. Not after I wait at the location for almost 2 hours. We still have a 3 hour drive to our destination, still no response and a serious lack of communication. My trip was planned accordingly, and hour by hour. Not only am I behind on my schedule, I now do not have the car that I originally wanted and paid for - and was available when making payment. This is unacceptable behaviour from a company like this. People depend on online interactions when coming from far locations in order to make sure things are in order for trips. Your company’s horrible customer service has now been a huge inconvenience and has caused a problem that could have been easily avoided.

We booked our reservation online and was told we would get a Subaru Impreza a full size vehicle for $300 for the week. When we got to the counter she said we were getting a nissian Versa, which is super small. The windows weren’t cleaned you could see circles from other peoples gps / phone holders. There was sticky coffee spills everywhere. The rear view mirror was gross. Can’t really see from the photo. I work for a rental car company in Ontario and I wouldn’t give a car out like that. Specially paying $500 for the week for a car should be spotless.

I needed a car to carry 6 plus luggage, and the on-line description told me all I needed to know. I got a Chrysler Town and Country, and it was comfortable for all. I wasn't happy about the road sense of the steering or the non-linear response of the throttle, but that wasn't Budget's fault at all. The agent floored me with his efficiency! Usually you are reading, initialling and re-reading for what seems like about a half an hour. This person responded to my questions about extra coverage and gas plans with clear explanations, and, at my request, recommendations. We were out of there and on the road in what had to be about five minutes. He also handled looking up whether my AOPA membership carried any discount. It did. They sent me a "free day" rental opportunity, and I intend to use it soon.

I had the same experience as another reviewer. I booked a full size car for myself and 3 friends with luggage. When I arrived, the woman behind the counter said that my Hyundai Elantra is all ready. Now, in my world, the Elantra is not full size. The woman behind the counter offered me an upgrade to an SUV for $50 more per day, and explained to me that the Elantra is their version of a full-size car. I looked up my reservation and it indicated ‘Chevrolet impala or similar’. The Elantra is nothing like the Impala! I attempted to negotiate, but they were completely inflexible. I decided to pop over to Alamo and ask if they had any full size cars. Happily they did, and it was actually cheaper than the one I rented with Budget. I will never reserve with Budget again, and if you would like to get what you pay for, I would suggest you don’t either. They are only getting one star because I couldn’t put zero.

I always rent from Budget at the Calgary airport and have been very pleased with the service I receive. The staff are courteous and efficient. They make every effort to provide me with quick service and the cars are always clean and surpass my needs! On my most recent trip which was April 24th I was provided with a free upgrade to a luxury vehicle for the compact price I had reserved! Staff also suggested I register for Fastbreak service which has expediated the rental process!! Highly recommend Budget and this location!

First things first, I had to pay extra for a premium car although having booked economy class. After bringing it back 1hr late, I was charged for a full day. Bringing it back with MORE gas than there was orginally, $33. I was suppose to notify them that the tank was not full when I took it... Customer service was neither friendly nor helpful. I arrived 20 minutes early but was nearly an hour late by the time I actually got my car. There were only 2 people working a 9 am on a Friday with a 15+ person line up. After waiting over 40 minutes to be helped, I was told that's just the way it is & they wouldn't do anything about it. Fast forward to the car... I booked 2 months in advance, paid for a full size, was billed for a full size on the final invoice. But received a smaller, mid size car. The car was also poorly cleaned. The Windows were filthy & the interior needed a vacuum & a dusting. Overall I'd say I'm thoroughly unimpressed with my experience at this location & wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

All compapnies allow clients to be late on 60 minutes, and budget gives you only 20 minutes, then they charge you for everything! And their manager is very rude and unpleasant to you. This is my recent experience for a Budget car rental booked at Calgary Airport, in Alberta Canada. (June 10-13, 2017) I did the booking online. I am very aware of all the negative comments and post about Budget Calgary on google reviews, I did send an email to customer service a week before my scheduled pick up date to confirm everything was in place. The Manager Julie responded quickly and said everything was looking ok and even clarified the insurance extras I got for peace of mind. To be honest I was very hesitant proceeding this booking, but Budgets price was very competitive. And I made the right decision. The service I got was a 10/10 I couldn't fault any along the process. The lady at the counter Aryan has the best customer skills. And much to o issues. I told the receiver to check the car to make sure everything is ok. Just do your basic part of making sure the fuel level is full, keep the receipts, take photo of the odometer and fuel tank prior to returning, and make sure you inspect the car against scratches, dents etc before you leave the premise so they can note it in their inspection receipt. I have to sincerely thanks Julie and the crew. This was an excellent experience, I couldnt fault any of their service at all. +++++++++++++++

Didn't get what I requested, got a compact SUV Which was a gas guzzler and engine had no Power to travel in the Rockies or even pass someone on the hwy, instead of a mid size car I usually get. Terrible experience just like many others. Save yourself the trouble, pay more and go with another brand. I rent cars four or five weeks in the year at Calgary airport, always with enterprise. They are super efficient, pleasant, and have a decent fleet of vehicles. This last time they were double the price than budget so I thought I'd give budget a try. Terrible mistake. The ladies at the front desk are clearly under pressure to sell you more stuff, and I really did not like that. They still operate with dot matrix printers, and it takes forever to get going with the rental (no email receipt obviously). Long process in the garage as well. This was winter and I needed a car with winter tires as I was heading to the mountains. This should be standard in Canada, and especially in Calgary. They wanted 25$ PER DAY for a car with winter tires, over a two week rental. Brutal. I ended up with a small SUV with all wheel drive for 20$ more per day. Sure enough, I slid and hit some snow bank around Canmore and broke a small piece of plastic on the wheel well liner. The part is worth 75-125$ online, so I thought they'll charge me 300-400$ to fix it. They charged $2000 to my credit card without even giving me a call, sending an email or letting me know about the work. They are crooks, and I should have done my research: there are multiple reports of them screwing people off with repairs. Not renting with them ever again.

Paid for the extra bumpers to bumper insurance to find out there is still a $ 300 deductible on a windshield and $600 replacement double the cost of any windshield shop. Some one at budget is getting rich. At Enterprise insurance is cheaper no deductible. I just had the most disgusting experience in my life here at budget. I waited for almost one hour for the car, and the staff told me there’s no other car left and she FORCED me to upgrade the car for $10 a day. I refused and she said, ok, if you don’t want the upgrade I don’t know how long you will have to wait. I returned the car at 5:40am and placed keys in drop box. at 5:52 am I received an invoice for 125.97 which was correct. At 12:30pm I received a second invoice for over $2,000 which included a miscellaneous charge of $1,600 plus, and again being charged for my two day rental. I spent over 8 hours on Sunday (note Sunday was when I finally saw the 2nd emailed invoice, and charge to my credit card), and Monday morning trying to get a hold of someone in the Budget office at the Calgary airport location. Every time the call would be transferred to customer service, who were completely useless in trying to resolve the problem. When I asked to be transferred to the Calgary airport location they stated this is not possible, which I find problematic. I run an engineering firm and we always have access to everyone of our offices. In any case the gal, who said she was located in Mexico, told me to call the Calgary office number and to not press any keys on the phone and after about 45 to 60 seconds I would be connected to a human being. Well this was not the case, and the call dropped every time (I tried about 30 times). Monday morning I continued my attempts at getting this issue resolved (over charging me over $2,000 on my credit card ). I climbed the Budget customer service ladder as far as I could go in 2 hours explaining my frustration to the human on the other end of the phone, and the best they could do was tell me it would take 7 to 10 business days to resolve. This is unacceptable for a company to charge (essentially steal) over $2,000 in error and I can't speak to someone to resolve immediately. There should be a human being who talks with me, and a representative from Calgary and get to the bottom of this with one phone call (not 8 hours of my time getting nowhere and re-explaining the case multiple times). Maybe the most frustrating part of this experience was never being able to discuss with a human being at the actual location I rented the vehicle. file 32397693

After seeing all of the negative reviews, I feel compelled to share my recent pleasant experience with this Budget location. We booked several months in advance of our trip in September 2021 due to the rental car shortage currently taking place in light of the pandemic. While we reserved an economy class vehicle, we were upgraded for free to a brand new (10,000 km on odometer) SUV for no charge that included satellite radio, GPS, etc. We payed for the Loss Damage Waiver and incurred no additional charges upon return. Perhaps we got lucky, but everything went smoothly and we have no complaints. P.S - we arrived after 7:00 p.m. and the car was waiting for us. Perhaps if you have an earlier flight, you may have to wait for your vehicle as some other reviews suggest.

Rented car in Calgary and they STRONGLY URGED me to get insurance and gas fill up bc if a crazy snow storm that just came through. After realizing that the snarky girl at the counter upsold us for a spiff, we had to go to the Banff office to cancel the insurance - they guys there told us that they couldn’t cancel the fill up service but if we returned the car fill, they would remove t from the bill at return. When we returned the car they REFUSED TO REFUND US!!! So budget basically STOLE a tank of gas from us! I never would have rented from them had it not been prearranged by a travel agent. We rented a mid size SUV. When we arrived our vehicle had a large crack in the front window on the drivers side. They only had one other small SUV and it also had a large crack in the front window. The girl working the front said almost all of the cars have cracks or chips in the window. I requested to speak to a manager but apparently they do not have one on site or the ability to call one. They had other larger SUVs in the lot without cracks but refused to give one to us. We cancelled the reservation and had to go through Hertz. Since this was a last minute rental we paid $200 more. I asked Hertz if it was common to have cracks in the windows. His response “yes. We always get them fixed as it’s a safety issue”. I’m shocked budget would expect us to drive a car site seeing with a giant crack in the drivers window!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! I have been renting from Budget consistently within Canada and US. They have always been my first choice until now. I've never had ANY issues until now. This was my first time renting from the YYC location. Big mistake. The guy at the front desk was not friendly and kept pushing us to upgrade and kept pushing us to purchase additional coverage for potential damages, even after we said no multiple times. Then all of the sudden I receive a "cleaning" bill of $263 two weeks after my rental.... DURING COVID! I'm disputing this claim, have yet to hear back. Super unethical and very poor customer service. I am not impressed and taking this to the BBB. DO NOT rent from this place! They did not seem honest from the get go. It is tough times for everyone right now, but they are finding creative ways to get more money from you.

Sharing an experience of my parents as they couldn't figure out google reviews: "To the Management & Staff, On October 27, 2019 in the afternoon my husband and I returned our Car rental and unknowingly I left my iPad in the car. The team at your the Airport Budget called my husband Keith when they found it and that was just before we went through the security check point to board our flight home to Vancouver. Keith ran back to the rental counter to pick it up and thanked them for their service. Then we went through Security and as we were being cleared I realized I did not have my cell phone either, so Keith phoned and asked them if they could check the car again for my cell phone and of course it was there thank goodness. Feeling very upset at my carelessness I asked if they would drop my phone at the Westjet Domestic counter and one of the Managers would try and get my cell phone to the Gate where our flight was now boarding. With the above and beyond service of your staff I received my cell phone just in time. You are all amazing and I wanted to thank everyone involved in helping me out!!! We were in town for our Nephew, Robert Biddlecombe’s wedding to his beautiful fiancee and had a wonderful but busy weekend of celebrations and I was exhausted and just thinking about getting home to rest and recover. I will make sure to tell everyone we know that when visiting Calgary and you’re going to rent a car that the go to place is only BUDGET!!!! Thanks again and we will be back soon. Thrilled with our Calgary Airport Budget rental. Easy to check in, got a great rate. Very easy to return, only took a few minutes. We had to bring back the car early due to an unexpected change in our plans, expected to and would have been happy to pay the quoted rate with it being so good but they still took a chunk off due to the early return. This was my first time renting with budget and boy what a “ride”, never again. I landed at the Calgary international airport mid September. Prior to arriving to Calgary i signed up for an intermediate sized vehicle. The car that was suggested was a “Ford Fusion” or similar. When i went to the airport the car that was given to me was a “Hyundai Elantra”. I asked the kiosk agent why was it an Elantra when the car would be the size of a Ford Fusion. To this, the agent replied, Budget considers Elantra to be a Intermediate sized vehicle. I was shocked at this response. I had to explain to this person, “how is budget deeming this when the car manufacturer regards this as a compact vehicle. I didn’t want a bad start to my trip and so I decided to go see the car. Perhaps, I was wrong. When i went out to see the car it was a badly maintained vehicle. It appeared as the car was literally just rinsed and not cleaned properly. It also seemed like the car was just returned. I promptly headed back inside and requested another vehicle be provisioned. At this point since the agent didn’t want to leave me disappointed, he offers me an SUV for the same price. While this was great, i wanted what i thought i had reserved which was a “intermediate sized vehicle”. To this the agent replied, “we don’t have any” . That’s it! This is when i realized folks at budget never saved me a vehicle. Their fleet collection is terrible. There is nothing in between a basic and a SUV. While i was lucky that the next car i got was a Subaru Forester, fairly new perhaps a 2019 or even 2020, sport model, the agent proceeded to create the paper work 3 times. In the first attempt the agent accidentally tore the customer copy of the receipt. In the second instance, while everything was done well the agent forgot to change the car model from the paperwork. The icing on the cake was, when i tried to use the windshield wiper fluid there was no soap rather just water. What a “budget” move..I am glad i didnt have any issues with the vehicle as some of the other users have reported here to be the case but despite having a corporate rate from budget I was deeply dissatisfied with the checkin and vehicle provision experience. Hopefully budget is able to evaluate these poor rating feedback and take these concerns more seriously.

We requested an SUV since we wanted a reliable car during winter conditions. During our rental, we had to jump-start the car twice. The first time, the car mentioned it had break issues and low tire pressure and would not start - so we were unaware that it might be a result of the battery. We called Budget for support, and the rep asked us to drop off the car at a Budget nearby to have it changed. It was after hours and the closest Budget was closed, and the car would not turn on. We were not anywhere near our accommodations and the area did not have Uber. He finally mentioned that we should call the roadside assistance, and that rep helped us greatly and called for someone to jump-start the car in about an hour's time. With that in mind, we were always afraid that the car could eventually die removing any peace of mind we were looking to have with the car rental. Although we were mindful of not using any features that would use the car battery, we still had battery issues at a gas station before dropping off the car an hour before our flight which caused a stressful situation. Thankfully we had great strangers that were willing to help. We ask that in the future if a car is being rented in winter that it is tested for all winter conditions as this caused stress during our rental.

Very frustrating to deal with. After making my reservation I wanted to add a car seat and was told they couldn't but I should be able to get one upon pick up. Should?! We can't take a chance with our toddler so we had to bring our own. We could not even call and speak with anyone at this Budget because they are "too busy to answer the phone." When we picked up the car it had a chip in the windshield but it was in a weird spot and didn't notice it right away. We took a picture. Thankfully we did because they tried to blame us for it. We did not have to pay but we were delayed in straightening out the situation.

I have had the pleasure of renting from this location on a few occasions and my favorite aspect of the whole experience is dealing with Mercy. Mercy is a dedicated to delivering excellence to all of her customers. I fly into Calgary quite often for work and have not been loyal to a rental brand until I dealt with Mercy. Waited over an hour in line on the holiday weekend because they only had one person working the main desk. They did have another person working their 'fastbreak' desk but they would only help 'fastbreak' people. So sat and did nothing for like half an hour. My husband is a fast break member, but because the car was booked through a work travel agent, but for personal travel, the number wasn't attached to the reservation so they refused to serve us. This is the second time we've booked with budget for personal use. The second time we've waited over an hour because they are understaffed and the last time we will use budget. Ever.

Booked online for a pickup truck rental- Paid in advance to ensure said vehicle would be held for me. Arrived to get the truck and the representative nonchalantly let me know they did not have a truck for me, but they did have a small SUV! Exactly what I did not need. When I asked for a reimbursement, or a discount since I am taking a downgrade- The rep was sure to let me know they did not do that, since i paid in advance. Nice scam, Budget.

I parked rental car at the office of the shipping company close to airport where I had business appointment. While that the people from Budget came with the spare key and picked up the car from private parking lot without any notice over the phone to me and question if car is missing. Contract was paid and I still had 24h left to use the car and Budget had no right to seize the car. I immediately came to airport budget office and tried to explain but Budget Manager said they will cancel the contract and won’t give me any other car. I called police and will testify them in Court since they scammed me and I didn’t make to my sheduled business appointments this day anymore. Further more the personal belongings were left inside the car when I have parked it and they are missing until now. Postponed review: Montreal police kindly driven us to the head office of BUDGET and talked to Manager Costa Vasilopoulos who said the car won’t be release to us anymore. And there was anything else inside the car but cellphone cable only. So our private items are stolen. More info to follow UPDATE 22 month later - I was insured by email in Dec 2019 the management should contact me and review the case - since my name is now at NO RENT list worldwide. But nothing had happened until now

An awful experience for my girlfriend and I using this car rental service provider. I strongly encourage you to choose another provider at the airport that is NOT Avis/Budget. They suggested providing us with a car model called the Mitsubishi RVR that to our naivety has it’s catalytic converter on the underside of the car so prone to theft that we awoke to it being clipped off by thieves overnight in our hotel parking lot (They melt the part down for it’s materials apparently). After filing a police incident report and doing all our due diligence with the hotel security staff, They would not send over a rep to pick us up to swap vehicles so I was obliged to drive an unsafe Loud muffling car back 20 km AND i got a bill for the deductible of the repair cost a month after we returned from our vacation DESPITE having paid for their insurance. Don’t be fooled even if they respond to this review with a reference case number and phone number I can call to “look into the matter” as I have escalated this with their agents back and forth this week and they have told me that I am responsible and that nothing can be done to rectify the cost. Do yourself a favour at the expense of your vacation time with loved ones when traveling and do not become a customer of theirs as they fail to comprehend the definition of extenuating circumstances that fall outside of renters control and an even worse understanding of customer service.

This place is brutal. No cars. Their parking lot area is literally empty. They say that cars were late coming back and damaged. But they were saying this weeks ago based on reviews on here. Our car was booked months ago. Worst car rental location I have ever been to anywhere in the world. Unreal. In the end they upgraded us. Staff were nice about it but really they need to get their act together.

Arrived at the Calgary airport on Christmas Eve with a reservation to find Budget had packed and gone home. All other counters were still open. Had to fork out $160 to stay in the airport hotel. Next morning comes and it's now 10am, one hour after the counter opens and I'm still waiting for a car. Everyone has come and gone. Not much Christmas spirit here. Girls at the desk could care less. I would give a zero stars if it was an option. Will never rent from Budget again. Too many companies out to treat your customers like crap. Save yourself the trouble and book with someone else. Bah humbug!

Rented a high end Volvo at Calgary Airport. They said " you don't have to bring it back full because we charge $1.22 per Letre of gas as a courteousy to our customer. When I return the car full they said you should not have filled it as we don't return the extra cost, you should have brough it back empty. They sqaubled about the refund first offering $50 back the $80 back. Seems like I was dupped by the way they worded it.

I usually rent a car late at night. Probably that's why I get help from Victorino almost every time. I rent a car at least twice a month. And he provided me with kind services every time and always satisfied my needs. Actually I worked late at night too. So I can guess how tired it is. Just like when you visit around the time the store closes, there are not many donuts left, as if you are receiving unkind services. But Victorino always welcomes me with a kind and smiling face. When I went to pick up my car this summer, there was a huge lineup. But I saw him providing kind services to all customers. I know how wonderful and great it is. I've never met the manager of this branch, but I really want the manager to read all my reviews and know how great Victorino is. That's why I'm a regular at this branch. You'd better not let him move to another company. Maybe I'll follow him and change my regular rental car company. haha. Thanks again, Victorino!

What a terrible costumer service... We arrived on time but due to the slowness of Victorino's service with the people who arrived before us, we spent almost 2 hours in line. Then when we got there, apparently our reservation was expired (of course, because of the 2h in line). The guy did not want to hear anything and he told us we were becoming too aggressive (we were only asking for solutions in a normal tone of voice). We finally ended up paying for a more expensive car since he gave "ours" to other people. A complete disaster, I will definitely NOT recommend it. People like Victorino cannot work as in customer service, remember his name.

Veronica the girl who's working at both counter and return lot double charged me for returning 30 mins late (rented at 6pm and retuend the car nexr day at 6:30pm). When i asked her why I got charged so much for a day ($250) she gave me pure BS by saying extra charge is insurance and I already agreed everything on the contract. She was very aggressive when I asked questions so something felt fishy. I was thinking she was making BS to rip me off and prob she was doing it to meet her sales goal. She ended up discounting like 40 bucks but I still felt i was getting ripped off. I had to catch my flight so didnt argue further and asked her name to complain later. She hesitated for a bit but gave her name. And as I was leaving, she explicitly said you can complain (what kind of attitude is that?). So while I was waiting my flight, I called the manager and complained (He said something like there is usually two hours grace period when returning a car so I don't understand why I got double charged). The manager ended up reducing the bill to 110 but still the attitude of Veronica haunts me to this date. There is other lady (don't know her name unfortunately) at budget who is very kind and nice but I won't take my chance next time.

Highly recommended! Customer service upon check-in and car return was lovely. Our car was upgraded to a crossover in great condition that drove very smoothly and had impressive gas mileage. The option to pre-pay for gas was convenient so we didn't have to stress on the morning of the car return before our flight. And the cherry atop our experience was that the minor tire issue we had was entirely taken care of at Kal Tire through Budget! This was unexpected and much appreciated!

This was my first time having to rent a car while on vacation. The Budget staff that I dealt with at Calgary International Airport was very helpful and friendly. It was recommended that we get a larger AWD vehicle, a Ford Fusion, as there was a real possibility of icy road conditions. It was a good idea as we did find ourselves in just such a situation. The car was very clean, very comfortable and had amenities that we appreciated, including the ability to link our smart phone to the car via blue tooth. That allowed us to safely map our outings.

I have received appalling customer service from Budget Calgary Airport. I rented an SUV from this office in June for 2 weeks. The rental was prepaid online and we paid extra for a full tank of gas. When we returned the car they inspected it and there were no issues and no further charges. However, on 24 July I noticed a deduction of $727 from my credit card by Budget Calgary. I received no explanation from as to the basis of this charge and they never contacted me about it (no emails or calls or any contact whatsoever). I have found it completely impossible to get through to the Budget airport staff through the public contact numbers on their website - despite repeated attempts. I have spoken to Budget's general North America customer care instead and they have been unable to explain the basis of the charge either - instead they are also trying to find out this information from the Calgary office themselves (but to no avail so far). It is now 5 August and I am still out of pocket by $727 with zero communication from Budget Calgary. This is outrageous and completely unacceptable customer service and I will now be left with no option but to report this as a fraud case with my credit card provider. FURTHER UPDATE TO THE ABOVE (I CANNOT RESPOND TO THE BELOW EMAIL FROM THE OWNER): As part of the booking process I provided you with a valid email address, mailing address and a valid cell phone number: you have not made any attempt to contact me through any of these means. What's worse is that even after I have drawn attention to this you are still asking me to get in touch with your claims department to find out why you have taken $727 from me with no warning. I have already undertaken something of a fishing expedition in order to find out why this happened and you still do not have the courtesy to get in touch with me. The customer care team at Budget north america are still unable to get a response from you either - this is completely unacceptable behaviour.

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE! My friend and I reserved a Sabaru Impreza or similar car ($800 for 6 days) for July 17, 2021 a few weeks prior to our stay in Alberta and when we got there to pick up the car, the salesperson instead gave us a Volvo car without telling us that they will charge for an upgrade. After we returned the car and returned back home in Ontario, they charged us on my friend's credit card without informing us an extra $75 for a car upgrade and $92.36 for fuel pre-purchase (which we already paid for). We have been trying to get a hold of them for any explanation and our money back since we returned home. What a scam.. I cannot believe this kind of unprofessional business exists in this modern day.. Please go rent from another company if you don't want to get scammed.

DO NOT RENT FROM THEM! Rented a compact Hyundai from them for 4 days, get home and look at my credit card statement, and there's $155 applied to it from Budget. I called thinking they found damage (missing bumper or something)...no, it was for gas. First off, I filled it up prior to dropping it off and second, you can fill that car up 5 times for $155. I called to inquire about the charges and they were rude and unprofessional...not to mention I'm still waiting for a 24-48 hour call back (that was 8 days ago!!!). They wanted me to prove to them that I filled it up with gas...how the hell am I going to do that? Needless to say, my credit card company thought the charges smelled a little fraudulent so they froze the payment until investigation is complete. I will never rent from this company again and I warn you to do the same.

Today my wife landed in Calgary. When she went to get the car, even though it was pre-paid, she was required to put a hold on her card. I have since closely read the contract. It says that a hold equal to the estimated rental will be taken on a card. In her case the pre-paid estimate was for $201. Why, then, was a $350 hold put on the card? That is directly in contradiction to the contract. When I phoned customer service, I was told that this location was privately owned. I guess that means that they can do whatever they want, even if it does not follow the contract. I asked if they had the Budget name with their approval, and was told yes. I pointed out that his response to me, then, was a legalistic cop-out. To say that I am NOT impressed is an understatement.

My flight was delayed and when I arrived to pick up my car they said it was still not available. They gave me a choice to wait or upgrade my car to whatever was available. They could not define how long I'd have to wait but said it'd be maybe 1 hour although it would depend on people turning in their cars. Budget calgary airport has the worst customer service, the super visor and staff were extremely rude. I drove from vancouver to calgary when i returned the car on the pamphlet it said free drop off to home but when i asked about the service the staff said it was not available. I was told to find supervisor and talk to supervisor, when i spoke with supervisor about the free drop off, they said service was not able and told me to find a uber, it was extremely rude i was expecting courteous service. After 12 hour ride and family emergency i was expecting a better customer service it was extremely bad, supervisor was extremely unhelpful and bad customer service. It was return on pamphlet free pick up and drop off but i was suggested to take uber attitude is bad specially supervisor they put the entire blame on me because i had not asked entire details about free drop off this is last time i am taking budget car rental. I had other questions about my booking but with staff being so rude i had to walk away never seen such bad service.

I rented a vehicle for two days and paid up front for this plus the liability waiver. I had booked to pick the car up at 2pm and arrived early at the airport by 40 minutes and was told it was no problem and that the vehicle was ready for me. When I came to return the vehicle I was charged 2 days and 1 hour and 3 days worth of liability insurance. When I questioned this I was told that it was because I had returned it at 2:10pm!!! 10 minutes after the time I was supposed to! The very rude service agent at returns said that because I picked it up at 13:20 that I had exceeded my "grace" period and would be charged a full extra day of insurance!!! Had I been told this when I picked up the car I would have returned it early but I naively thought that the original time would still be valid and that being 10 minutes over would be part of that grace period!! It's obviously all just a way to make extra money of people who have no choice but to pay! The only good thing was that the vehicle I was given was a nice a car even though it had an unusual smell when you got inside it! Poor poor service Budget!!!

Picking up the car was less than pleasant. Nobody was present at the Budget counter and only two AVIS representatives were helping about 20 customers with one of them taking care of preferred and fast track customers. Overall, it took about 45 min to get the car. At drop off I was told by an unfriendly AVIS / Budget employee that I will receive an electronic receipt for the rental. As of now (24 hrs later), I have not yet received that receipt. No issues with car itself.

Be Extra Careful! Booked a Ford Focus or equivalent online. When I went to pickup I was being given Chevrolet Spark which is Ford Fiesta equivalent. I told this to the woman and she shrugged off as if I needed car lessons. Ended up having to upgrade. The woman further tried push selling - hard selling insurance. She asked me "do u want basic insurance or upgraded insurance" i thought those were the only two options i have and said basic. Car rental was 450 but the total came to 930 for the insurance. She rushed me to sign it ans that is when i bascially got what she was trying to do. I said i did not want any insurance (my cars insruance provider covers rentals). Then it was taken off. The car was good but service can be improved, or the owner might not want to improve if they think they can actually fool people this way. Just be extra carefull with them and always doubt them. :-)

Predatory, sleezy business practices and will NEVER rent from them again. I picked up a car at about 1 PM. I scheduled the return time for 9:30 PM the next day. When I swiped my card, the reader said I was being charged $237. I thought that was extreme, but chalked it up to airport pricing (I had never rented a car through a service like this. Always used Turo in the past). I returned the car about 45 minutes early the next day. A few days later, and I checked my credit card statement. I had been charged $400+ for the car. Naturally, I called to ask about it. I had thrown away the paper work upon returning the car (silly me) and was told they couldn’t look up the rental without the rental agreement number- saying they couldn’t even look it up by name and date. They suggested I “call back again when you have more information.” After calling the general customer service help line, they told me I should call the airport counter back and “insist” they provide me the information because they absolutely can look it up by name and date of rental. Long story short, I get this information and a copy of the receipt to find out I had been charged $100 for an “additional day fee.” Come to find out, the clerk had scheduled me to return the rental at 12:30 PM, not 9:30 PM. I explained to her that no way would I have EVER agreed to rent the car for that much, and she tells me they cannot adjust the bill now and I should call this other helpline. On top of the $100 additional day fee, I was also charged $101 in “optional service fees” that I had no idea were optional, the clerk just kept telling me to press “agree” on the screen. I suppose that’s my fault for not digging deeper there. I just figured it was all crazy rental jargon and not additional charges I was agreeing to. In any case, I’ve called the other helpline 3 times, and have never gotten an answer nor has my call been returned after leaving a message.

The guy at the Montreal airport counter prolonged this time by asking me to go back to the car and get the kilometer and fuel readings, which is clearly his job. I took the Manager's contact info but no one ever received my call at that branch. My last time doing business with Budget group.

The assistant knew nothing about the cars in her fleet, nor anything about features in the cars. It was very frustrating. Nonetheless, the car was excellent and had fantastic fuel economy. And the Ford Escape navigation system was very helpful and clear. So I would rent again, but hope that the staff are more aware of the vehicles they are renting out.

I've used this location a few times in the last year and I have finally gone for my last time. Anytime you rent from Budget at the airport, you will be up-sold everything under the sun and they are not forthcoming with the lower levels of insurance (always start at the most expensive, then next highest, but never offer up the basic level of coverage). I was offered a convertible mustang and it was pouring rain outside. We declined extra insurance coverage because I had extra thru my credit card, so upon leaving, we were told in a snarky tone "ok, you are 100% responsible for anything that happens to the vehicle" - not "thanks for using budget" or whatever. They will also lie to you about filling up the car with gas. There are a number of gas stations less than 5 minutes away from the airport. The staff will tell you that there are none nearby and try to convince you to pay double the price of gas to let them fill it up for you. Unless you are forced to rent here, I would strongly recommend one of the competitors with desks right beside Budget. That's where I will be next time.

Worst rental experience I’ve ever had. I normally rent from Enterprise. I got a slightly better quoted rate with Budget. In the end I ended up paying more for a lesser product. Upon pick up from Calgary Airport I was visiting friends just across the border in BC. I had to pay an extra $10 per day for an “out of province” fee. The clerk also tried to sell me every extra coverage under the sun. ie. Snow tires for an extra $18 per day. Windshield protection for a similar fee. I had to tell her no too many times. The vehicle was subpar and wasn’t even washed upon pick up. I originally booked the car for a week. I tried to return it a day early and they told me it was “impossible” to credit my credit card (desite every business in the Western Hemisphere being able to do so). When I called the Budget switchboard the day after pick up to report some minor damage I was transferred to the Calgary Airport office directly. When I tried to return the car early I got a run around from switchboard who were unwilling to assist and told me they were unable to transfer me to the Calgary Airport office. The switchboard clerk was unable to assist so I asked for a manager who simply reiterated the same. When I expressed what poor customer service this experience was and the refusal to work with paying customers the manager ignored my concern and simply replied “is there anything else I can help you with?” I am a low maintenance customer and my expectations as a paying customer are reasonable. Most of all I expect attempts to work with customers. None of which happened. I will never rent another car from Budget again. Period.

Worst experience ever. We rent a car ( Volvo) and when we got to the hotel which was 5 minutes away from Airport, we realized that one of the tires was damaged. We took the car back and they give us a car that was like at least 10 years old, with summer tires ..etc. We went to Jasper city , and on our way back we got stuck on the middle of the national park. Thank God someone pick us up and take us to the hotel. Next day we went to banff budget office, we talk with Morgan about the situation and she said that this happen a lot and she said , dont worry we will take care of everything. We thought that everything is ok and thanks for give us a quick solution. But no we got home and with a $1300 dollars bill in our account. Beside the fact they put people life in danger, they are liars , they just wanna take advantage of people. They dont care about clients at all. We talk with every person from budget company, from the customer service people to general manager and nobody care. Think twice before rent a car with budget I know it's hard to choose between this company's but do not rent with budget if you care more about your safety and time than maybe saving a little bit money

I usually write positive experiences but this company is the worst rental company at the Trudeau airport. I have rented a car on two occasions and they overcharged me for a less than 30 minute delay upon returning the car. They once billed me a late fee and the second time charged me for an extra day. On both occasions, there was no one to assist me within business hours between 10pm to 11pm and they are very understaffed. I was penalized and noticed that they checked me in their system at 7:00am the next morning even though they closed at 1:00 am every day. I strongly recommend everyone to deal with any other company.

I was using budget for many years i would rent mostly the larger 5 ton trucks i own a business and if i had a truck down i always found budgets rates were not to bad they had the equipment i need and they were close and convient to where is was so i always used the same location in calgary northeast location. Recently i had rented a 1 ton cube van, when i had returned the truck back by accident i had forgot a binder in the truck i had alot of important paperwork insurance and registration and a fitness certificat for my truck as well as tax papers personal info, now once i returned the truck noboby went through the truck before renting it out again so now my binder is floating around somewhere, i have tried multiple time to trace this binder down i stopped every day for two weeks at budget and every time i would get a different story or id get the run around i tried contacting lost and found but the lady who deals it only deals with lost and found on thursdays, when you call the lost and found you get a recording from the lady saying she only deals with it only on thursdays and if you call and leave more then one message she will not return your call. I was told that the truck was rented out to another company but when the manager claims he was calling the driver of the truck and not the actual company. Anyways there is alot more to this review that i dont feel like explaining anymore but i will never ever rent from budget again there is a penske truck rentals on the other side of the city who ill give my money to now.

Even though we arrived late because our flight was delayed by two hours, the friendly attendant behind the counter upgraded our intermediate reservation to a full size Ford Fusion for free. We had an online reservation made directly through Budget's website so the check-in process was extremely smooth. The Ford Fusion was without question the nicest rental car I've ever driven. It was fully equipped with SiriusXM satellite radio, sunroof, seat warmers, rear-view camera, keyless entry, remote start, and bluetooth. As embarrassing as it is to admit, it's even nicer than my car. I was very surprised at the quality of the car given that budget had the lowest prices of all the on-site car rental agencies at YUL. Yes, I checked all of them prior to booking. Budget provided the best value ever. Let's just say I paid more to fill up a full tank of gas than I did for a two night rental.

I was charged $90 for gas. The tank wasn’t full when I picked up the car for what I received a small unidentifiable credit. When I went to the counter to explain the situation, the clerk started reading the contract to me. I don’t understand how you can charge $90 for 2/8 of a tank. STAY AWAY! I'm being charged extra on my credit without any information or paperwork. A charge just shows up on my statement for Calgary Budget. No evidence or notice on the charge or anything. I've asked for them to provide all the paperwork, but nothing substantial has been produced. This is last time I rent from budget. Also, never return the vehicle after hours otherwise you're leaving the car open to whatever they want to claim on you. My original review is below. CAUTION. You may not get the car you reserved. Their sense of vehicle classification is way way off. I reserved a car online for a mid-size intermediate vehicle only to discover the reserved vehicle was a Hyundai Elantra. Thanks, but no thanks. These vehicles are not even the same size. What I should have got was either a ford fusion (the car they use in the image when you select vehicle type) or a Hyundai Sonata if we're talking same class. I then asked to downgrade in order to pay less because I'm sure not paying for an Elantra when I should have been given a larger car. They told me there were no other cars that were a step down so I had to pay more to get a bigger vehicle. What I should have done was cancelled my reservation and walk 10seconds to the next rental provider. Don't be fooled and make sure you get the right vehicle!

Had the most horrible experience here. I will NEVER use Budget again. I reserved a car for my husband to pick up today. We called yesterday to confirm he could pick it up even though it's in my name - they assured us it would be fine. He gets to the counter and they tell him he can't pick it up because it's in my name, so I have to; except I'm in another province. So I call Budget and ask to change the reservation to his name. After a 10 minute wait on hold (while my husband is standing at the counter; late for an appointment), they tell me I can change the reservation to his name but it will cost us three times what my reservation was for "because it's a different car". I said I didn't want to change the car - I just wanted to change the name, to which I was told it's not possible. So somehow if I appeared there, I could get that car for the price I reserved it for but since I can't get there; it suddenly isn't available and my husband has to rent a whole different car that costs a lot more money? That's clearly a scam to get more money from your patrons...and I will never support a company that scams it's customers. Thankfully I was able to cancel and I will never use Budget again. Terrible customer service, and completely unprofessional attitude. Save yourself the headache and use anyone else.

I called 3 times and they kept saying " The shuttle will be there in 5-10 min" Had to take a $ 20 cab ride to the car rental place after waiting for 40 min.. We just hosted three friends from France at our inn. In the pouring rain they were not able to locate the gas station near the airport and returned their SUV with half a tank of fuel.Of course they were ready to pay a fair fare. The front desk attendant charged them $ 400 for half a tank of fuel! They argued and it was eventually lowered to $ 200. That is about 4 times the actual cost of the fuel. This budget franchise is the worse example for tourism in the region. My friend will file a formal complaint. Budget should quickly try to fix that situation. We will make a point to inform our foreign guests to avoid doing business with the budget airport franchise.

We rented a car from Montreal (quebec) to newark (new York). When we arrived at the rental station, we were told none of the cars going from quebec to the US have winter tires. That day (Dec 30th) was a very dangerous day on the roads, with snow and freezing rain. We were told that it is not mandatory for budget to put winter tires on, as this type of car is platted in the US. However, we think it is absolutely dangerous and not safe to provide customers with unsafe cars in those type of conditions. There is a reaosn why winter tires are obligatory in Quebec during winter.....! It is very unsafe to drive in those conditions with 4 season tires. By being cheap, your company puts the life of people in danger. As a company renting cars, you should reach perfection in what regards customer's safety and you have failed to provide that to us. We have been very disapointed by that and will definitely never recommend anybody to use your cars to anyone we know.

The rental agent in Calgary was rude and tried to force the use a cancelled reservation instead of the pending reservation (which was cheaper and for a longer period). He was also very aggressive in his attempts to add useless extras to the contract. It was a late (10 pm) aggravating experience I would not recommend to anyone.

Nothing was wiped down, the back of the steering wheel had sticky food on it, touch screen display had fingerprints, handprints on the seats, food stains on floors and dirt in the cup holders. Our flight into Calgary got delayed for 3 hours, putting out arrival time 15 minutes after closing. I called Budget and they assured us they would stay open up to an hour later due to the flight delays. Upon arrival, all other car rental facilities were open EXCEPT BUDGET. They claim to close at 1 am, and I ran into the facility, out of breath, at 1:15 am. I waited on the bench near Budget trying to figure out what to do, and a man came out from the back. I introduced myself as the person who had called earlier and was assured they were going to stay open, and the man said "Oh, I just locked up the keys so you'll have to come back tomorrow at 6". I slept on the airport floor for 4.5 hours after 11 hours of travel in order to obtain my rental car. NOT A HAPPY CAMPER.

I have rental a car twice in the last couple of weeks from Budget on Decarie. I was greeted both times by Ismael who is super friendly and helpful. I prepaid so check-in time was very fast too. I highly recommend you to rent from here. You get a great car at a fair price and great service!

There was no regrets offered and no credit backs for inconvenience while on vacation. Staff member did not even come outside to inspect the car before we picked it up. PSA: Hold onto your rental contract! They may try to sneak on extra charges. Our experience: When we dropped off our car, we were presented with a bill that was about $100 higher than our original rental contract (~$410 vs ~$310). When I noted this and asked why it was higher, the Budget representative said that this was the amount on the original contract, and that I was mistaken. He said I had agreed to an upgrade to snow tires when I had picked up the car. While the car had come with snow tires, this was not noted as an option or an extra charge when I picked up the car. He refused to look up or show me the original contract in the database. When I found the paper version of the rental contract that showed the correct amount of ~$310 and presented it to him, he unapologetically put the original amount back. When I expressed unhappiness with how it was handled, he literally asked me to leave. This is appallingly bad customer service, and it’s possible this location might be running tricks like this as a regular scam. In case anyone from corporate is reading this, we dropped our car off at 12:15pm at the Calgary Airport terminal on Dec 31, 2017. Our interaction was with the taller of the two men working there. He didn’t have a name tag.

COVID CAUTION - On Sep 5th at 11:19 AM I was picking up my rental car from the Budget location at the Calgary airport. The Budget employee was not wearing their mask properly, it was under their chin. According to the sign in front of their counter everyone is supposed to wear a mask... properly I would suspect. I was concerned, but let it go until they coughed onto the cuff of their black nitrile glove, which could spread germs to their hands. They then passed me a pen to sign paperwork, my driver's license, car keys and Credit card. At that point I asked the employee to put their mask on and then comenced pouring hand sanitizer on the pen, keys and cards to sanitizer them. Budget please try to keep me and other customers safe, just I try to do the same thing for your employees.

DO NOT RENT HERE! SAVE YOURSELF THE NIGHTMARE! I returned our rental car one hour before they opened in the parking lot unit in same conditions it was rented. They called me 2 days later to tell us the car had a small dent and we knew something was wrong because we inspected the car completely, nothing hit the car and we were not involved in any kind of collision, but the person who called was NO HELP he just called to let us know they are submitting a claim of which we disputed. We received the report one week later with no time stamped in photos of the car, we never saw that damage in the car when we returned it, the car was in a completely different unit location, we and they did not provide evidence of the speedometer (photo), conveniently for them they claim surveillance footage of the unit i dropped off the car was inconclusive to provide and on top of that all kinds of time irregularities of when the car was inspected. DO NOT GET SCAMMED! The claims agent never responded a phone call only email and took conveniently close to the due payment to respond and did not provide valid evidence requested. BUDGET CLAIM department will NOT do anything to help YOU and investigate further than what the rental location manager will provided (IN THEIR FAVOR). Over 1K for a damage we are not responsible for. I MADE THE MISTAKE to first not look at their reviews and second to trust their integrity and not check out with an agent to get evidence of car not being returned damaged as they miraculously claim. Go on vacation stress free and be safe from opportunistic snakes that will take advantage of tourists! WORST CAR RENTAL EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE... thanks budget you will be my last! KARMA is great you will be hearing from us soon.

Got through customs in 10 minutes. Waited 80 minutes in line for the car at budget. No air conditioning in the waiting area. I mean none. Two guys at the counter for both Avis and budget. But I rented a car to go see Aurora today and received another friendly service from Victorino. So I wanted to leave some reviews that I haven't written in the meantime. Actually I went to Vancouver this summer. At that time, I booked a full size car and when I told him I was going to drive long distances, he recommended me a car that was a little more comfortable and almost new. I don't remember exactly, but I was able to upgrade my car after paying about $10 more. It was very valuable. If it weren't for Victorino, my long-distance trip would have been very tiring and difficult. He's such a thoughtful staff. This is the worst car rental location I have ever been to. I made a reservation months in advance. When we get there, there's a 20 minute line because the 2 people working there are moving as slow as molasses. Finally when it's our turn, the very unhelpful lady at the counter tells me that there will be a 30 to 45 minute wait for the car and that we have to sit in the chairs to wait for it. Why? Because they ran out of cars. What is the point of a reservation if you're not going to honour it?? To add insult to injury she only mentions this after taking down my credit card and driver's licence. AND they have a sign in front of their counter that says "vehicles available". Pretty much fraud. She says all of this as if it's completely normal for them to make their reservations wait 45 minutes for a car. I tried calling the customer service line and you only get an automated message saying they're busy and to call in 15 minutes and then it hangs up on you. I guess Budget hasn't discovered an automated queuing system yet. How this place has a rating above 3 is beyond me.

I will walk but not rent from Budget. They are liars, cheats and fraudsters. Those scoundrels deserve to be shut down. I rented a "full size" car at Calgary Airport. My girlfriend and I went to pick up the car and they game us a "Hyundai Elantra". It didn't seem right, so I asked very clearly if it was a full size car? They said yes it is. I said it doesn't seem right, they insisted that it was a full size car. I went to the car and went to Budget's website and Hyundai Elanyra is listed as an Intermediate, not even Standard. I went back to their office and I ask them once again, they lied again. I showed them their website so they camenup with the excuse that their qebsite was incorrect and it was going to be updated. I asked them again to come clean, but they kept lying. By then I was very mad. I booked a full size car for a reason. After hearing the ruckus, the manager came out screaming. Was I mad by then? Yes I was. Was I screaming as well? Yes I was by now. The manager threatened to call the cops. I asked him to coz I hadn't done anything wrong. The manager went back to his office and during that time i called Budget customer service and put my phone on speaker. Customer service confirmed that the car given to me was medium/intermediate car. The manager came out with a meek smile and offered a mini van for the same price. He asked me to go get the keys to the elantra. When I got back, cops were waiting there. Did they do something? No. They couldn't, coz I hadn't done anything wrong. But the coward Manager after seeing the cops denied giving me the car. Good job Budget. Bloody Thieves.

Second time renting from this location. Last year I reserved a full size and recieved a full size vehicle. This year I reserved a full size 7 weeks prior to arriving. When I went to pick up the car they had a similar car available with issues I wasn't prepared to accept. I was instead offered a sub compact for the same rate. I couldn't even get in the driver's seat. After some negotiations I was upgraded at a reduced rate to a small SUV. It wasn't what I wanted but worked. I ended up struggling to get into the vehicle all week. Could not wait to get it back. If I could only check my truck through customs, all would be good. I give a rating of 4 because the young man behind the counter did everything within his power to fix the issue. One that he did not create. Many thanks to him.

I am writing this review a little bit late but I have to say I still remember how well we were treated by the owner at this company. We had heard bad reviews of Budget in other locations and were hesitant but the owner is an extremely nice man. He gave us lots of tips on how to find the northern lights. He told us not to worry about minor dents on the car because it is pretty common in yellow knife from the stones on the gravel road hitting the car. He also gave us unlimited mileage for free (not common in Yellow Knife). Two years later, I still remember the owner and his kindness. Thank you

Ok "funny" story here. Service is horrible, the people at the reception do not have any intention to help you. We made an online reservation and when we came there to pick up our car they did not accept my credit card just because they had never seen a credit card like that... (the credit card work fine, I already used it to do a car rental with two other companies and it worked perfectly). At this point I ask them if we can use the credit card of my friend, they said to change the name of the driver (so far no problem for me)... I kindly ask them if they could do it since they are at the desk and the lady just look at me and said: "you did an online reservation, you have to change it online..." I was like "ok, well, I do not have internet since I am a tourist, what do I do?" So I had to call a number, which I only got after 5 minutes of discussion with the lady and turn out to be AVIS number... so when I called the number of course they could not help me... (Seriously...HORRIBLE SERVICE GUYS and is not even the end). I had to ask again if the number was the correct since the phone number that she gave me first was from avis... and she pass me another phone number like I was asking her an enormous effort. I had to spend like 10 minutes on the phone through automatic messages and so on in order to speak with an actual human to describe my situation and finally cancel the reservation...After that I had to call another number to ask for refund. At this point we decided to switch company because we saw that they had no interest in helping us and we lost like 1 hour in there. So I go to Enterprise, just across the office and in 10 minutes I got my car and yes I paid with my "untrusted" credit card... I mean, COME ON... if this is the kind of service that Budget offers, there is no surprise that people hate it. I am sorry for my rant, but this is something that actually bothers me so I had to share my story.

Kiosk attendant was unwelcoming and rude when I returned the vehicle. In addition, I was charged an additional $100 for the gas service option without being told on top of what I had agreed to pay when I picked up the vehicle. I only noticed when I took a moment to compare my original signed agreement that I completed when I picked up the vehicle to the final receipt. How many people wouldn't have noticed and would have paid without realizing they were upcharged? Although the original employee I dealt with when picking up the vehicle was pleasant, my experience returning the vehicle left a bad taste in my mouth. For this reason alone I would not recommend budget to anyone in the future.

I would urge people to not use Budget Car rental. I was new to Canada at the time that I rented and I was severely over charged. I have rented many cars from different rental places since I rented from Budget Car and I have not paid any where close to the extortionate prices that Budget Car had. Terrible experience. Every other agency here is getting people in their vehicles no problem and there are at least 10 groups waiting for cars now, because Budget won’t put them in another vehicle without a significant upcharge to “get it now”. They extensively hassle you to upgrade, and they make you feel terrible about yourself for merely taking the car that you already booked online. It takes forever, and it's really an awful way to start your trip. If you have the money, go to a more reputable rental company like Enterprise or Hertz so you can get professional customer service.

I prepaid for a car rental and got an upgrade at the airport. The rep did not explain things properly and I ended up paying more that what I would if I had just picked up the car at the airport. My brother in law paid the same price for 10 days of rental after I left and I paid for 5 days. It's like a rip off.. I would never recommend Budget to anyone.

However, we specifically requested to reserve an all wheel drive vehicle, and upon check in were told there were none available at the quoted price. To get an all wheel drive vehicle, the price was doubled. While we agreed with the terms at check in (little other option), it was unfortunate that the reservation particulars were not respected.

I was extremely dissapointed when I went to pick up the car I had ordered that the one I was told to take was not as ordered. Also, It had multiple damages to the driver side door and back dor as well. When I showed the attendant he said no problem and this was the car I was to take even though I had requested a car without and damages. the car was not only dirty o the outside, but very dirty inside and the front window was extremely hard to see out of when I got out of the terminal. Even though I am a \preferred Fastbreak member, not sure I I will rent from Budget again. Also rented in Calgary in october and could not get a car with snow tires and was told it would cost me another $40.00/ day to have them installed. Not very good Custome relations.

I am from Red Deer. In the past few years I have been renting vehicles from this Budget - Airport location. I just wanted other folks to know that I have always found the staff a this location to be very respectful, courteous and professional in their dealing with me. Both the front desk staff and the pickup/ drop-off staff have always received me and treated me pretty good. The owners of this location has some great staff here. These folks will always have your reserved vehicle for you even if your flight is late. That is great !. I will continue to use this location and my home town location in Red Deer, and have recommended these locations to my friends and family.

Beware people Budget nickle and dimes you.rented a car upgraded to aSUV. Wife pick's up didn't realize the gas tank was 3/4filled until we got home ( 5mins away)and pack our stuff about to head out we noticed gas tank not filled , took a pic, figured no biggie will let them know and it will be ok. Attendant says no way that not the case.u could of drove to Ottawa really in and SUV an only used 1/4 tank impossible.call d manager wait 45mins she never shows up.lesson learned never again Budget.$26.40 for gas. I have rented from Budget many times as well as from several other car rental companies. This is the first time I have been charged for taking the car out of province. Not only did they charge me $10/day for out of province, they charged me $10/day for every day of the rental agreement. I was in province more than half the time and they charged me for those days as well. Turns out they are not so Budget driven after all. That will be the last time I use Budget.

Great experience. The original car I prepaid for wasn't available so I was given an upgrade. Unfortunately the upgrade has less trunk space so I needed to pay for an upgrade to a small SUV which was disappointing. The SUV also wasn't comfortable for me given my height but it sufficed for the trip. Friendly staff and quick and easy pickup and return.

Avoid going renting at all costs! They did not let my fiancée know that she has to have a receipt of her filling gas. She brought the car back with more then a full tank and the let her know that she will be charged for the gas because she didn’t have a receipt. Look at the picture for proof!

EXTREMELY aggressive sales that resorted to providing me with misleading information in order to upsale. The type of sales tactics would have driven another customer to tears, when I asked to opt out of certain fees, I was verbally berated. Really rethink who you're working with and what type of management is running the show here for the sales people to resort to underhanded tactics like these....

Minus one star: Charged an extra $15 for winter tires. Minus one star: We reserved a car before but there's no way online to reserve a car with winter tires. Minus one star: Service agent had no idea about insurance. Minus one star: There were no cars left with winter tires. Also, a minor but significant point: When you leave the heated rental section at the airport and venture out into the unheated car park to pick up the car you rented, you have a longer walk past 2 or 3 other rental companies before arriving at the Budget rental cars. It's also not clearly sign posted so I had to ask somebody on the way. This is no big deal in regular weather, but if it's -20 degrees then it's a big deal... :-)

I wish I could leave zero stars or somehow even negative. From start to finish this was the most unpleasant experience I've ever had with a rental company. At time of rental I was pleased to see the amount was well below the normal price of renting a car, however when I went to pick up my car the rude man at the desk informed me that I had accidentally booked it at the wrong location and because I had prepaid offered me no help or solutions on how to get across town. I paid for an uber to take me there where I got a car with no working charger ports and no windshield fluid. When I turned in my car they surprised me with hidden fees and a $20 PER DAY charge for being 24 years old! The lady on the customer service line offered me no help for my extra almost $500 charge. Renting though this company is NOT a budget if you have to pay more for hidden fees.

Upon returning our rental car we had to wait in line to be served. We arrived well before our time but by the time the agent clocked in the return it was 15 min late. So he charged us a whole day extra. We only realized it after. So when we got back to them they refunded us 6 cents instead of 60$. now it has been 2 months and no one knows how to refund the right amount and they keep bouncing the hot potato from one person to another from headquarter to service point to original renting site back to headquarter. Currently we have to wait 20 buisiness days holidays and weekends excluded so they know what to do...

I would do zero or negative star if I could. We arrived on time, the lady Prabhdeep was the one served us and left us alone without any instructions like how and when we will get the car, just went away and never come back. We got very angry after waiting for one hour and asked another man at the counter, he said there’s no car at this time! So why that lady didn’t tell us the truth then we could rent from other companies, we also have two kids and they got very tired after the flight but still have to wait longer. We cancelled it and rent from the company next to them and just took 10 mins to get our car! If you want your trip goes more smoothly, skip them. Or the first question I could be “ Is the car available now?” I am not sure anyone would tell the truth or not! They are not honest at all!

I got a free upgrade to a van since they didn't have the vehicle I had reserved. However, lady representative at the counter lied to my sister and I so we got their basic insurance. She stated that "Budget absolutely does not accept third party insurances." Budget at Calgary Airport operates like a scam. My recent reservation ends with 1433 on 11 December 2019 was just a disaster. The staff, Victorino, refused to inform me what is the total of the rental cost and insisted to charge pre-authorization before providing details, coverage, insurance, etc. Zero hospitality, unprofessional, rude, difficult, argumentative, and hostile. He withheld my driver's license and credit card even after paperwork completes and after he gave me the car key. I've brought up the issue to the manager on duty and he is aware of the incident. If there's other vehicle or fleets available with another company, I'd personally suggest to take it and stay away from Budget.

5 Stars for service. Place is quite tricky to locate due to all the constructions going on. Do not use google map to find this place. You will end up nowhere. All the car rental places are located in the airport near the arrival terminal. There is a walkway that leads from arrivals to the rental place. Just look out for the poor signs and ask around.

After a long flight and getting to the budget counter at 1:00 a.m the girl rented me a car. She said the car was pre checked out so there would be no problems and damages were noted. I pulled around to pick up my wife when she noticed some damage to the passengers door. I told her the car was pre inspected so no problem. When I dropped the car off the next day they agent said there was damage that was not there before. They charged me 1100.00 to fix that damages that I did not do and I had nothing to say the damages were there before as it was my word againts theirs. Be very careful when renting from them. Because of this I will NOT rent from budget again.

I would like to give the highest possible rating to Dallas, a superb customer service rep at the Budget desk at Calgary airport. We had originally booked a car with a competitor company's downtown office, hoping to avoid paying all the airport fees. Unfortunately, we arrived late on a delayed flight, and as a result, the downtown site was already closed. The airport desk of the competitor company had no cars available. We called some other downtown sites, but they were also closed. The airport desks of two other companies wanted an astronomical amount of money, three times what our original rate was. When we got to the Budget desk, however, Dallas told us he could give us a car at the same rate as our original downtown reservation. To top it off, he gave us a bigger car than we would have originally received from the competitor company. After a grueling day of delayed travel (where we actually had to drive to a different airport to finally get on a departing flight to Calgary), we so appreciated Dallas's courtesy, kindness and professionalism. Due to his efforts, Budget has won our loyalty, and we will be booking our rental cars with them in the future.

NOTE: We used our COSTCO Travel to order and it cost us $167 instead of ordering directly from Budget which would have been $377 for a savings of $210. We opted for an Intermediate Car (Chev Cruze / Toyota Corolla) and through COSTCO a second driver is INCLUDED at no additional charge. We've used this location before when our vehicles are at the garage and they continue to exceed our expectations.

We booked our SUV, when we arrived they tried to up sell for 20bucks a day to get snow tires ( why would you book and suv in Calgary without winter ties). They made us wait for 20mins while they tried to clean another car to give us. They continually try to upset us on every item. We also booked on Costco card and we had to show the card specifically to honor the booking. Not helpful. Also gave us the wrong location of the car in the end.

The pick up and drop off was easy. But car had a defective tire, resulting a bump on the tire, and was not safe to drive, so I called CAA to replace the tire with the spare tire. The CAA tow truck driver said this tire is defective from the inside and can blow at any time, being in the mountains with a baby it was a good call to change the tire. He specifically mentioned that it’s not damaged from outside so you have nothing to do with me. I called budget car rental informed them about the issue. Then again at the drop off location I specifically mentioned about the incident after that I called their claims guy as the clerk asked me to, explained him everything. Still they OVERCHARGED ME WITH $347 IT WASN’T EVEN MY FAULT. THE WORST THING WAS THEY NEVER EVEN INFORMED ME OR ANYTHING, I NEVER GAVE THEM AUTHORIZATION TO CHARGE MY CARD. It was total BS.

I rent vehicles from this location very frequently! I have NEVER had a bad experience at this location or with Budget in general. I am honestly shocked at the bad reviews previously mentioned. I always have the best service and the vehicles are always exactly as I expected and sometimes more than I expected. The quick service when picking up and dropping off a vehicle is always something that I love especially when on tight timelines! I would recommend Budget to anyone in a heartbeat!

Waiting in line for more than an hour at 5pm. I know its peak hour. But there are only 2 people working, 1 is on break and they know a lot of people have booked. They should at the least have enough staff to accomodate everyone. Should have booked with alamo or nationals. It takes maximum 5 minutes if you have reservations. Just get away from this fraud rental company! It was absolutely the worst and most horrible rental experience in my whole life! And I could see in the reviews that so many other people have similar experience and being trapped by their fraud techniques! (2.6 out of 5 means 40% while many have declared they would give zero or negative if they could) I am now reading other reviews and I can see that this fraud rental company at airport is used to do such things and overcharge people several times of what they were expected to be charged for. They try to have their price a few dollars less than other car rental companies to trap people and then they do their best to find an excuse to make hundreds of dollars for a small mistake. This is their hidden policy that they never share!: If they find a small excuse to overcharge you for a few hundreds more they will definitely do that (as I am reading the reviews of other people for excuses like not filling the tank completely, having even 15 minutes of delay and so on). I guess more than half of their income is by trapping the people by doing such kinds of tricks and fraud activities and overcharging people with different tricks that they offer! Then if you do not understand what they have secretly done with your credit card, it would be great and have a good day! However, if you find out what is going on and start to contact them for such an unjust charge, they will start making excuses and saying lies to you each time until you become tired of calling them. If you persist, they might decrease some part of the triple charge so that they get rid of you and you do not make any problem for them! Now please see what they did to me (and also read the reviews of other innocent costumers) so that you completely understand who these people are and definitely go for another rental company whose values is different from them. Please carefully read and see what happened to me: I am an international PhD student in Kingston. I was with a friend trying to give a ride to my mother to Montreal Airport. As there was heavy rain on that day, we found out that there is no way we could return the car on time. I believed that due to my experience, customer satisfaction is very important in Canada; especially due to my previous experiences with other car rental companies like Discount and Enterprise branches in Kingston as both of them never charged me a penny for one or two hours delay due to their policies such as "Grace Period". However, for this fraud company the story was completely different and seems that costumer care is a big lie and a fake show for them. First, I tried calling their costumer care, explaining that due to unexpected weather conditions we would not be able to return the car on time. The first few times I encountered some extremely rude people increasing the volume of their voice and a few of them even dropped the call making excuses such as they could not hear me. However, even when my friend called them (having the phone carrier with the best reception in Canada), they still used to refuse the call with an excuse of not hearing us and drop the call as soon as they were informed that there is a heavy rain coming on the road (LIE no. 1). After a few times of calling their fake costumer care number and explaining about the Grace Period that other real car rental companies offer (A joke for this fraud company), finally one of their people told us that it should be fine and we should not be charged for anything except the two days of rental. Then we called them again to make sure that they did not just find a way to stop us from calling them. And we got the same answer for the second time. Even after, we dropped off the car with a one and half hour delay, we called them again and for the third time we received the same answer. This time, the person even gave us a reference number and assured us that any extra charge to our credit card will be back in one or two weeks (LIE no. 2). Worst car rental agency, and scammers!! I made reservations online a week prior to arrival. I called 2 days prior to ensure a baby car seat would be available. I arrived, (worst customer service ever), got to the vehicle, and no car seat. Spoke to an agent, a car seat would arrive in 15 min. Twenty minutes came and went, still no car seat. Waited outside in freezing weather with a baby. I asked if there was another budget location with a car seat. No luck. They offered for me to go to another car rental agency!! Fortunately after about an hour, Budget was able to find a car seat for me. Seriously, they are quick to charge extra if the car is returned late. But wasted over an hour of my time trying to find a car seat!! On top of all this - i returned my car with a FULL TANK of gas. They still charged my credit card $36 for 14 litres of gas!! How could they fill 14 litres of gas when the tank was full!! Complete scammers!! I called my credit card and disputed the charge. I was fully refunded. Heres a hint to all you customers - TAKE PHOTOS OF THE GAS TANK AND MILEAGE BEFORE THE CAR IS RETURNED. I would go so far and take photos of the entire car!!! Never let this company scam more people!!!

Intially there was 1 clerk helping and a line up of customers which did not bother me at all. Eventually another clerk came and started helping. When the 3rd clerk came instead of asking who was next, he asked a couple to come up, and this couple had arrived 10min after me. I made a comment that i was next and he just lost it and started screaming sayinh everyone has to wait and that i had no wait. I was extremely shocked at his reaction but remained in line. It turned out that he was the one who would help me next. I calmy said that i didnt mind waiting but i was there first and he continued to scream saying "you need to calm down... or do you want me to cancel your rental". "You wait at the airport and now you come take it up onme" I was lost for words w his rudeness. I finished my check out and he asked if i needed a boaster seat i stated yes as per my reservation. He then said "well go to the car and wait until i help ALL the customer after you". He made sure to emphasize the ALL,almost to say hewas in control andi had to wait. I got to my car and he got to the budget office in the parking lot.my hands were full and he pointed to the back office and said you can grab the car seat from there. I said "do you mind bringing it to the car?" And he replied "NO we dont do that. Have you never rented a car before?". Oh he also made sure to tell me to check my car as if something would happen,i feel so threatened that i recorded a video of the car when i picked it up and dropped off. I really hope he was just having a bad day and not a bad life becaude i feel sorry for someone like him. Ive rented cars before and have never been treated this way. Im an extremely calm person and kept my voice down the whole time but i dont think everyone would have acted that way. He stated his name was "Jay" and refused to provide me with a last name. I dont think Jay is a representatiom of budget but i will sure think twice next time j need a rental because this experience did not go well.

I was charged $611.37 for a one day rental on a car. This is robbery I’ll will be telling everyone I know not to use your services. The charges I received are close to double the monthly payment of a new car of that style from the dealership. If this is how budget runs it’s business no one should use your rental company.

I was asked to change my pick-up location twice because of site closures and construction issues. Later, on the day before I was set to pick up may car, I was told that they don't have a car for me. I was told to call numbers, and then told I called the wrong number. An agent told me that he'd connect me to Customer Service, and I was disconnected instead. Absolutely horrendous service. Unbelievably, shockingly, extraordinarily bad.

Worst service ever. Rather go to Enterprise anyday. Reserved online, even with my confirmation # all i got was " sorry sir, we dont have your car, u shouldve reserved more than 24h ago.. we cant help you" Don't rely on them, worst car rental service around

I was happy to get a good deal online so i grab it but when i go to Budget, the customer service representative charged me 78$ for gas service (i thought they will return money if you fill full tank) and i filled up tank but i never got my money back. [Guys, always check your car, there was a little crack in Windshield and rear signal light, i reported this and they said "That's OK". Otherwise they will charge you at the end. I am happy they didn't charge me] But they overcharged me 227.50$ on June 14, 2019 and i called customer service, she said she don't know about this charge. She created a case, and asked me to send bank documents which shows the charge and i did, but didn't get any reply back. Literally they charged around 650$ total for an online deal of $290. I am still waiting for my money back. One star because of ripping off money!! once i get money refund, i will give them 5 star, as my car was clean interior and maintained well.

The car we booked before hand was not ready, they didn't own the fact that they messed up our reservation and we waited for 2 hours to get our vehicle. The service could have been so much better, choose another rental car company if you have the opportunity.
