My arrival to Zoom Car Rental was awesome. The young guy who assisted me with the luggage in the shuttle van was very courteous. During the process of checking in at the counter I was assisted by a very kind and knowledgeable representative. He actually provided me with a map and located both places I'll be visiting during my business travel in Calgary . I've never used Zoom for personal or business travels but will definitely consider them going forward. Their fleet of rental cars are brand new, clean, reliable and unmatched IMO.

Worst car rental place I have ever experienced. I would give it a 0 if that was possible. I travel for work and deal with car rental agencies frequently. The airport shuttle does not follow COVID protocols and worst customer service. The front staff is not helpful either. Their fleet of vehicles are all damaged based on discussions with staff. Their explanations on policies are sketchy at best. The name of the rental place falls under various names, which leads one to question what activities they are doing on premises. I was embarrassed to drive their vehicle, but was left with no other option.

Very dishonest car rental. Kept me waiting outside in the cold. Spoke with manager who said there is nothing wrong with waiting outside for 5-10 minutes; despite me taking an Uber to the location. I just called them to complain. Was charged for extra-mileage despite no disclosure by the person who attended to me. If you have a cap on mileage, you should mention it, I told you the person who attended to me did not mention it. I had to call you back again and he claimed he told me when he did not. That is the basis of your dishonesty. I was compelled to buy insurance despite showing my personal car had coverage for rental cars but your worker claimed I was not covered for your car. They give a vibe of we are just about making the money. Rude customer service experience.

I feel like this whole rental car industry is a scam. They make money out of charging overpriced damage waiver and the damages to the rental. They can just go and make a deal with the local "certified" mechanic and tell them to quote certain amount. You will never know how much they pocket in the middle from the repair. In July 2021, we rented a car with them for 2 weeks. We opted out for the damage waiver because we added the rental car coverage on our own insurance before our trip. I have read the reviews here that Zoom requested proof for insurance cuz the rental coverage on my credit card wouldn't be "enough" for them. Long story short, we had a small damage (1" crack and some scratches) on the bumper. They charged us $1500 as deposit on our credit card. A week later, the bill came $1504.42. They really tried to milk you as much as possible. I was talking to my friend who was in the rental car industry and he looked at the bill. He said if it was at his company, it would have been $1100 for the damage. Zoom charged us 3 days of downtime ($79.99 x 3 days), $1164.45 for parts and labour, and $100 admin fee. And the rental agreement stated they would charge $69.99 each day for downtime. I called them and they were like, "This does not apply to you, Ma'am." It is funny how it stated on the back of the agreement. My husband called again and showed them what it said on agreement. They were willing to refund $30. The front desk guy with the earring on was just rude and has no customer service skill whatsoever. The guy who drove the shuttle is great! I would avoid doing business with this company at all costs. You really get what you pay for. Cheap is not always great!

I was not a fan of their service. The place was difficult to find getting there, the vehicle was expensive, and I received two parking tickets, which I was charged a $100 service fee for having them pay it, when I would have happily paid it myself instantly to avoid the service charge. Its as if putting extra charges on the tickets is part of their business model. I would not recommend this company, better to use a more reputable dealer like hertz or avis After Response: I've never encountered a company that writes back such responses to their customers and trolls them so hard. Searching into your employment history an personal data all at the same time. If you read any reviews they get so defensive. Just be better!

Un-accommodating. Rude. Worst car rental experience by far!! Read all the t&c's carefully! Hidden cost, make up for their price. If you pick the car up an hour early, better bring it back an hour earlier or pay for a full extra day. Expect no help loading or uploading luggage. Expect to wait for shuttle at airport and at the Zoom office. Check that you get the right car you paid for! Basically, don't take anything at face value. Will never see me again

Called on a busy week where rentals were scarce. Charged me $1200.00 for a 3.5 day rental on a Toyota RAV4. Kept telling me I was getting a “great deal”. No one showed up at the airport to pick us up. Also we had a little chip in the windshield and we were told this would be fixed. We received a bill 1245 Dollars to learn they have changed the windshield completely. I talked to the glass company and they told me they advised rental company to fix it and it will be as new but rental company went with the option to replace it completely. It may look cheaper but there are a lot of hidden costs with this one. Not recommend it at all

DO NOT RENT from this company, especially if you live outside of Canada. They add additional fees, make you jump through hoops, and will charge over $1,000 USD for a small scratch underneath the bumper which may or may not have occurred during your rental. Added fees: Though the rental was a good price when we booked it online, upon arrival the employee at the desk told us we would need to purchase their car rental insurance for an extra daily fee of about $20 CAD unless we could prove that my credit card company had worldwide rental car insurance. I called my credit card company and proved that they did offer it as a benefit, only to be told by the man at the desk that I THEN needed to prove that my car insurance would cover up to $1,000,000 for personal liability. I've never had to prove all of this while renting a car, but after another call to my insurance company, I was finally able to do so and waive Zoom's additional fees. The Zoom employee claimed this was the way they do it in Canada, however, my dad rented a car in Vancouver a year ago and this was not the case. This process was a major hassle and it took us over 45 minutes just to get the car. Suspect and Overcharged Damage Claim: We dropped off the car early before Zoom was open and took a photo of the car and there was no visible damage. Later that day I received an email from the company with photos claiming damage to the car. The photos showed one scratch about half the length of a dollar bill located underneath the front bumper. In the other photos, the scratch was not visible from the front or side of the car. There was no way for us to prove we didn't cause the damage because we did not check under the front bumper when we initially picked up the car. Zoom immediately charged a $500 CAD deposit to my credit card and asked me to open a claim with my credit card company. When I called to complain about the charge, the Zoom employee asked me to identify myself and said he had been "dealing with a lot of the same situations this week". That tells me this is typical practice for this company. Since I had no evidence that we did not scratch the bumper, I was forced to place the claim or else I would have had to pay for the repair myself. Zoom did not provide an estimate from a repair shop prior to charging me the $500 and I was unable to place the claim until I followed up with Zoom and requested it. The repair estimate they sent me was about $1200 USD, which is unreasonable for such a small scratch underneath the bumper. This is the first Google review I've ever written, but I feel strongly that this company is not trustworthy and that consumers should be warned against renting from them. If you choose to do so, record the initial inspection when you pick up the car and check every square inch of the car prior to driving it off of the lot.

If I could give negative stars, I would. My parents are the ones who had the misfortune of dealing with these people and felt uncomfortable from the start. They were asked very strange questions during processing, the staff did the initial inspection without them and imputed information incorrectly... which my mom did catch! I hope everyone decided to avoid this company because they will do what they can to SCAM you!!! They yelled and screamed at my parents IN PUBLIC!!! The staff threatened them and tried to charge them $5000!!! FOR WHAT!? Please choose a different company.

STAY AWAY! Worst rental car experience! Extremely rude and unprofessional staff. If you value your time and piece of mind. Do not rent here. I'm not even sure where to start with what went wrong. First off, they make you drop off the car at 7am, conveniently changed the time on me because I had drop off at later time. They are scamming you with lower rental rates but making it mandatory to purchase insurance. My insurance was covered through my credit card but they forced me to buy their insurance. They are literally willing to sacrifice customers and be rude. I am 100% sure all the reviews hereare brought off or written by the company because there is nothing good about them. They make my rental experience so bitter!! Again stay away and spend your money where it's valued.

Never, never, never use this company. Not worth the little savings. I booked a car for 6pm. The reservation confirmation said they were open until 7pm. But they closed at 6pm the day I needed to pick up my car. So, I had to spend the night at an airport hotel. And, when I phoned the next morning - they didn’t have a car for me. NEVER use this rental agency - go with a more established brand with better customer service.

Booked a mid-size SUV via Expedia from Zoom Calgary Airport $258 for 1 week. Unfortunately, after taking the 15 min shuttle to the rental office, the rental agent wouldn't let me rent the vehicle unless I purchased their additional Liability insurance @ $9/day. I'm covered through loss/collision on my Avion Platinum CC and I NEVER purchase liability - the chance of me plowing into someone's car, house or damaging their property while renting a vehicle, uh highly unlikely. The risk is our own not buying liability - the choice is ours! I could have added liability to my auto policy for $25/year but the wait time was over 45 min to speak to my auto broker. I then asked if I could pay for a day of insurance (or the entire 7 days) but when I show my liability policy could he refund me - he said NO - I have to charge you for the entire week and can NOT offer you a refund if you provide your insurance documentation. And only because the agent's intimidating sales tactic was starting to work on me........I then called a friend who rents from ZOOM Toronto all the time - his response " I never buy their insurance". I could hear the agent smugly laughing at my phone conversation in the background..... Honestly, I have never experienced anything like this before. I took the shuttle back to the airport (the shuttle driver was a very nice young man ;-)) and 2 hours later, I then rented the same mid size SUV on the spot from ALAMO for $20/cheaper (excellent service from ALAMO by the way).

Went there to pick it up, though the Expedia reservation was unlimited mileage, they said it is not applicable! We rented from Zoom in Calgary for a ski trip. Zoom had the best pricing but a considerable margin and we were very impressed with the customer service, as well. Both the shuttle drivers were punctual and friendly as they drove us to their front desk located at a hotel about 1km from the airport. Unfortunately, we had a pebble from a truck damage the windshield on our trip, but the Zoom Team (especially Max) did an excellent job of walking us through the insurance process. Their communication throughout the entire process was excellent and we were able to resolve the issue in a timely fashion. We will definitely rent with Zoom again and would recommend them. Scott

I would NOT recommend renting from this company. I rented a car through work for a business trip so I asked for a small compact SUV, they gave me a small car. I was fine with it because the car had a lot of features to make up for it but no winter tiers, no all wheel drive and no windshield insurance which is ridiculous in Alberta. I had to return the car early because my work trip ended earlier then expected. I came to the office to return the car and even though it says open at 7am it was closed. I had to call for an employee to come open the shop. He was nice but that was a huge annoyance. Because I returned the car early I expected a refund for the difference. I was told I have to speak with a manager for refunds ???? like give me a break! Overall, cheap is not always good quality so keep that in mind with this company. Update: zoom saw the review I posted and the manager called me to clarify the policies and my booking. Because the manager was upset about my review, he threatened to report me on a ‘false review’ for sharing my experience as a customer. Instead of calling to clarify what the agreement was and did not even apologize that there was no employee during their posted business hours. I’m not going to be intimidated to change my review. If he had called to clarify and had not been rude I would have gladly changed my review but his attitude on the phone was very aggressive.

Please avoid this company by all means. They have zero customer service and no professional ethics. I booked a car for four days from August 10th to 14th travelling with my wife and fifteen year old daughter from Toronto to Banff. We were supposed to arrive at 6pm but our flight was delayed by half hour and by the time we picked up our baggage it was 6:50pm. I called Zoom to find out that they are closing in 10 minutes at 7pm and the employee who answered the phone said we have to take a taxi to their location about 7 minutes from the airport (when they advertise and claim online that they are located at Calgary airport). He said that since we are running late past closing time we now have to pay extra $100. When I tried to explain that it was not our fault and nobody ever notified us about their early closing time (all other car rentals at the airport are open till 10pm) and extra fees, he said that they actually don’t have a car that was reserved by us at all and hang up on me in very rude manner. When I tried to call back a number of times still before their closing time he stopped picking up my calls. We were extremely stressed since we realized that Zoom simply ditched us and left us without the car rental when we needed to drive 140 km to our hotel in Banff. As a result we had to hassle and waste a couple of hours after a long and stressful flight to get a car from Budget for $300 more than our initial reservation from Zoom. When we managed to get a car from Budget and told them our situation with Zoom, they told us that they heard nothing good about Zoom from a lot of customers. I would personally consider taking these morons to court. I obviously still have all the proof of my car rental reservation with Zoom in case if I have to back up this review.

Recently rented a car from ZOOM /Nu at Calgary International Airport. It was extremely easy and efficient! We were given 2 or 3 types of Suvs to choose from. We had a question and Max immediately jumped in and helped us. He answered our question and made us feel like we were the only people there. He went out of his way to make our reservation special and ensure we would have a great car rental! Checking out and in were both easy and fast! We weren't able to easily get gas on the way back to the location and but there was a gas station right behind the rental location which was very convenient. Someone checked us in within a minute of us returning. We were very pleased with having someone help us load our luggage into the shuttle when we returned. The entire process from end to end was fast and efficient. The car rental was nice and we would highly recommend using them as we will be using them again!

Smooth transactions. They pick you up from the airport and the process takes about 10 minutes. You get a fully fuelled car and the paperwork is fast. Max is awesome to work with and also we had a RAV4 that worked very well (it was brand new). Remember to ask for the Banff National Park pass! It’s way cheaper than if you get it heading to Banff.

Terrible experience with this company. My reservation was canceled when all their available cars were damaged due to a freak hailstorm. I totally understand why. What I don’t understand is how the agency failed to contact me to notify the cancellation. Not by phone, not by email, not through Expedia, nothing. This left me stranded. Not cool. One bad experience does not necessarily mean a bad company, however, their lack of customer service cost me extra money. Something others should be aware of before renting here.

I had an excellent experience with Zoom rental in Calgary. My girlfriend and I planned a trip to Banff from Montreal and I found this car rental place online which had very affordable rental rates. Therefore we booked a SUV for 6 days. Upon arrival, I called the company to request the shuttle, the company provided free shuttle upon arrival which brings you directly to the car rental location, the shuttle arrived quickly and the driver was friendly. Overall the staffs were professional, efficient and accommodating. The pick up and drop off of the car were quick and smooth. The SUV they provided had full tank of gas and the condition is like new, the mileage on mine was around 40 000km. From reading some of the review from other people I think these tips may help you smoother the rental process from the experience I learned: -Make sure to bring your own car insurance and make sure they cover RENTAL CAR or else they will charge a fee per day. I learned it the hard way when I first rented a car at Victoria, BC and I had no car insurance that covers the rental cars. This time I called lapersonnelle (my car insurance) and made sure it had the car rental covered, I brought my car policy statement and the car insurance paper therefore I did not have to pay anything and it went smoothly. -Make sure to verify, take pictures or record the car's condition from outside and inside before driving out, it helps you and the car rental to deal with insurance in case an accident happens before or after the pick up. (I am thankful that the company believed in my statement and pictures after they found a scratch on the rear end of my SUV that was not logged into the system when I picked up.) I have not tried any other car rental but I would definitely go to them again if I ever visit Banff/Calgary a second time.

Absolutely terrible experience here. I purchased a rental car through expedia with them and unfortunately my flight was delayed multiple times by 3 hours. When my wife and I arrived at calgary Airport I called Zoom to confirm my car was available to be picked up. They told me since I wasn't there on time they gave it away to someone else, leaving me and my wife without a car and therefore missing my wife's surgery consultation that day. I then had to find another rental car that day and it ended up costing me an extra $300 than it should have been due to this company's awful customer service. They had zero empathy or respect for me or my wife and have refused to refund me the amount I paid to originally rent their car I never even got. I would never do business with this joke of a place again.

When I was looking for a car on the website, I did a search for Calgary International Airport (easy for us after flying) and it displayed Thrifty, Alamo, Avis, ...and Zoom. But when I arrived at the airport, all the other companies were present except... Zoom! Zoom is located around 4-5km from the airport. So I had no choice to call them to pick us up at the airport with a shuffle, to go the company location: Unbelievable. We lost 45min! When I wanted to have my car as booked, the person from Zoom asked for my car insurance file number because he said my insurance via my credit card was not enough. I didn't understand why because usually with other companies my visa is enough. But the person didn't want to understand. He wanted the proof. I didn't have them with me, of course. So he told me I had one day to call him back with my insurance reference; if not he would have charged us almost 10CAD / day (6 days trip). This is the first time this happens to me with a rental company. So we decided to stop this ridiculous booking and to cancel it, to go back to the airport and to book a car with another company; to be faster, cheaper and without any issue like this for sure. We asked the person from Zoom to bring us back to the airport. He agreed but with a fee!! Seriously!? So we decided to take a taxi and pay again... We arrived at the airport and booked a car with Alamo. It took 15min to pay, sign and have the key!m for an SUV instead of a compact (no added charge)! No issue, really fast and efficient! The zoom guy available on April 25th was really bad with customer

I reserved a car back in March for my August trip in Calgary. I received an email confirmation with the dates, model and price. I called today to see if I could change the pick-up time. When I asked about my reservation, the manager said he couldn’t find anything in the system in regards to my reservation. I asked if i could send him my email as proof! He completely disregarded my email and said that he was sold out, no cars available! I asked to speak with the manager and he said he was the manager! Never rent here! I have always rented from the big places in the past like Hertz and Avis etc. so this location being very new and close to my home, made it the logical choice to try out especially for the convenience factor. I was not disappointed. Max the manager is a consumate professional and was extremely helpful and made the process very quick and efficient. Being new to this place, I had many questions and concerns regarding my rental agreement, terms and conditions. Max patiently listened to all of my concerns and addressed them without ever sounding annoyed. The whole time he addressed me as "sir" in the midst of my questions. Although they are located offsite from the airport Zoom provided us with a free shuttle ride to their office and back to the airport after returning the car. We touched down at YYC last Tuesday and promptly caught the Zoom shuttle bus right out front of the Arrivals terminal. I was given a cell phone charger to be able to call my bank since my transactions were not going through. Max helped me to rent the car we had on reserve with no problem at all. The car itself was new. I had no further problems and everything during our rental period was uneventful. We filled the gas tank to the brim and cleaned the car up real nice as per our contract terms. The rental return was quick and easy. The attendant was nice and he made sure we didn't leave anything behind. When I returned I waited less then 5 minutes for the shuttle back to the airport. This makes the second time we've rented from Zoom and we've been more than satisfied with their services.

If I could give this company a zero or negative star rating I would! Booked a rental, couldn’t find the office so I called for assistance with directions. The employee who answered the phone rudely told me to Google it. Then when I arrived, the office was locked despite it being an hour past their posting opening time. When they finally opened the door, I was told to go in the office and wait. While doing the paperwork I was told it was mandatory to purchase extra insurance. This made the rental more expensive than their competitors. There is a sign on the door that said they would beat any competitor pricing, so I asked them if they would do so. The guy said no and then told me to go elsewhere if I didn’t like it!! TERRIBLE COMPANY!! BEWARE OF THESE SCAMMERS!

I use Zoom exclusively in Calgary and Toronto. I always receive top notch customer service. From the booking to the easy return process, it's always effortless. Even better, the fleet is great. I rent a few times a month and enjoy driving cars equal to and in many cases better than my personal car (ie Toyota Rav4, Mercedes CLA250 and Ford Mustang). On my way to Toronto as i write this review, hope there is a convertible available.

I had a nine-day rental with Zoom Rental Cars. Since my flight from Los Angeles had mechanical problems, I got in late. I did not know that Zoom Rentals closed at 7:00 PM. I could not get the hotel in Drumheller that I had reserved two rooms for that night. I had to get a taxi to a cheap airport area hotel just to sleep and get another taxi to the rental car company the next day after they opened. Since the car for my nine day rental was no longer available, they charged me an additional $50/day for a different car, making the now 8 day rental close to $1,000. So, if you want to rent with Zoom Rental schedule a flight to land in Calgary from 10 to 3 PM or you may be sorry. They are open on Saturday and Sunday at 9:00 AM, making me unable to ever use their airport shuttle.

Very desappointed with this company. We don't reccommend if you travel by plane. Our flight was delay and because of that we lost our reservation even if we had informed the company in advance. You need to be able to take you car within the 2 hours of your reservation. We had to pay 1000$ more even if we were renting for the same dates. Also be aware, that there is a maximum of km allowed, it does not even take into account the numbers of days you are renting the car. so we don't recommend if you plan to rent the car for more of 2 weeks.

On top of it we recorded our conversation with Max when dropping off the car. Travelers, check the real reviews on Yelp.ca and stay AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! Use reliable Car Rental companies who respect the customer! I completely agree with previous customer review who said: "Seeing some of the other reviews it seems like a common practice for these guys to charge hidden fees. Just expect to be lied to" Here is our story: 1. We arrived to Calgary on Apr 11, 2021 earlier than planned and contacted Zoom office immediately. We were advised by Jay he is the only person working this day and it is difficult for him to pick us up even when Pick up voucher says "Free shuttle service". We were also advised by Jay we can come over by Taxi and pick up our car as the car was ready. So we paid extra 20 CAD and came by taxi which we did not mind having said we arrived earlier than planned. We were provided with the car as soon as arrived to Zoom office. What we WERE NOT advised is that there is an extra charge to pick car up two hours earlier. Instead, Jay generously gave us an extra 30 mins of time to return the car. We even have his handwriting "2pm" instead of 1:30pm on the Drop-off voucher. 2. We came back to Zoom office at 2pm on Apr 17, 2021 and was told by Max (who was working this day) that we have to pay 30 CAD more for one extra day of using the car. Of course we expressed our disappointment as nobody advised us in advance about upcoming charge for one extra day. Our disappointment was treated by him as a rudeness and he decided to refuse to provide "free shuttle service" that is stated on the drop-off voucher. I have to mention that we were traveling as party of 3 (1 adult, 1 child, 1 disabled senior) and had a heavy lugged with us for downhill skiing. Max pronounced that the office is now closed ( when business hours on weekend is 9am to 6pm) and asked us to leave the office immediately. 3. Sure thing we paid extra 30 CAD for the extra day and another 15 CAD for taxi to the the airport. 4. Having paid extra unexpected 65 CAD total and experiencing such nonprofessional service I would rather hire car in terminal and deal with reliable car rental companies like Enterprise, Herts or Avis. People, do not use this Zoom location if you want to be treated as a customer who pays for employee salary.

This is by far best rental company experience ever ! We travel a lot. Originally from Europe where the customer service beats the American experience , now living in San Francisco and renting cars, a lot. The level of the service at Zoom Calgary doesn’t compare to any other company, even those in Europe. Both the rental pickup and return were smooth, attendants extremely nice, we were given wide choice of cars and greeted with a smile and provided with advice on onward journey. Way above others ! Helped with luggage and we didn't had to touch a bag on the way in and way out.It all seemed like a VIP service for the cheapest amount we have ever paid for a rental. Keep up the good work !

I was chastised by the personnel for using the 3rd party provider. I will not return to this rental company and do not recommend them. I had a great experience renting with Zoom. I reserved an 7 passenger minivan to be picked up at the Calgary airport location for my family vacation. The service was great and quick during pickup process. I was given a Dodge Caravan which was a true 7 passenger vehicle. It seated my family comfortable. The return process was just as simple. I pulled up and a receipt was printed and we got shuttle ride to our terminal. I would definitely rent from Zoom again.

We booked a car for 5 days, and on the 3rd day it broke down in jasper (400km away), there was a malfunction in the electric parking brake, and the car wouldn't move anymore. This cost us 1.5 days of our vacation out of the 5 days we had, we had to cancel a bunch of activities, and we also had to pay $170 to take a shuttle back to banff so someone from zoom can come pick us up to go back to Calgary again, and get a new replacement car (who was 45 mins late). We assumed that they would reimburse us for our loss (1.5 days of vacation and $170 for shuttle) as it was not our fault at all, but we didn't get anything in return instead we were told that "they had bigger expenses to fix the car", businesses come with expenses and this isn't our fault, we just expected good customer service for our loss.

Zoom was very accommodating and prompt. The car was clean and it was a quick check in and out when picking up and returning the car. The shuttle arrived on time and was very convenient for pick up and drop off. Max who took the booking on the phone and managed the account was very friendly and helpful. Great experience.

Good experience. The place was clean and sanitized. The rental place took extra precautions for customer safety and themselves during this pandemic. They advised that they were also sanitizing the cars properly which was awesome. I felt safe renting from them. Will be back for future needs. Keep safe and healthy...????????

Zoom is great! When we arrived in Calgary and they were the first group to arrive out of all the people waiting for rental shuttles!! On our way home we dropped off our vehicle before it was scheduled and again the Zoom team we're flexible and brought us to the airport without waiting! Great prices, great staff, and great people! We felt safe the whole time!

Word of advise!!!! Make sure you check your windshield as you will get charged for a stone chip weather it was there or not. Our vehicle had over 10 stone chips which we couldn't see at pickup due to frost. Now they expect us to pay for the new windshield. Bad business practice!!!!
