The HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT we had with thrifty customer care agents with our last rental was unrealistic!!!. We have rented the car from Calgary downtown on 12th July and the pick up was scheduled for noon. The pick up location was supposed to close at 6pm. As we were traveling from Toronto and our flight was delayed by 7-8 hours, we were supposed to land around 6pm. I have contacted Thrifty customer service right after we knew about the delay which was 9 in the morning Calgary time to find out what we could do in this scenario (either to change the pick up location or cancel the booking and re-book). I have been advised by one of their customer service agents that I can pick up my car from the same downtown location at any time and she was going to link my flight details to my car reservation so that the location can wait for us. I had no reason to doubt their employee so I trusted her.
Now we land at Calgary airport at 6pm and I thought to update thrifty about our landing time so I called the customer service again at 6:15pm on 12th July and she said its ok to pick up the car at 7pm and the location will be open for us to pick up the car. Again, I had no reason to doubt her. We took a cab all the way to Calgary downtown which cost us $100 and more than 30 minutes and all we find out over there that the location was closed!!! Then my wife called the customer service again and she has been advised that we can pick up our car tomorrow!!! (We were supposed to drive to Canmore the same day to our hotel with NO CAR or spend the night on the streets!! The customer service agent had no respect for our situation). After a huge fight with the agent on the phone (Roxanne, agent # 0410) for more than 2 hours, she said go pick up the car from the Calgary airport!!! We had to take another cab and spent over $50 again. I am not even going to write about the whole incident of the price of the rental at airport and the hidden airport charges which would take another 2 pages of this review and took 1 more hour to deal with. We asked the customer service agent to compensate for our cab cost and they said they cant do anything about it and we have to make a formal complaint with Thrifty. If we knew the location will be closed and if we haven't been misguided by thrifty agents TWICE, we could have saved over $150 and 4 hours of our lives along with peace of our minds. I do not understand why their agents are not aware of their own policies, location times etc!!!
Anyway, I did a formal complaint on thrifty website and do you think they responded? ABSOLUTELY NOT!! STAY AWAY FROM THRIFTY UNLESS YOU ARE A FAN OF HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Thrifty deserve NEGATIVE STARS from my end. NEVER AGAIN!!!
