We picked up a Dodge Caravan from here for the May (2021) long weekend. We were immensely and thoroughly happy with the smiling and courteous staff member. Not only did he accommodate our request but also facilitated us to drop off the vehicle at a different location for no extra charge! Thank you, keep up the great work.

Terrible experience, will never go back, was treated with disrespect and unhelpfulness. Watched a delivery driver get ignored and other customers treated poorly. Ended up cancelling my reservation and will rent from somewhere else. Shifty, unhelpful staff. Trying to trick me and charge me more.
Ordered an all wheel drive SUV. Got there they only had a front wheel drive van with all season tires. Not the greatest choice to head to the mountains in.

I will never rent from here again, staff doesn’t know their own policies about cash returns and I have to wait 2 weeks + for my cash back!!! Pathetic. And a year later I still haven't received my money! I don't dare call the customer service number again! Idiot's there like in there shops are a bunch of brainless morons that will screw you over!

Prepaid for the "Manager's Special" hoping it would be something a bit better than the normal Compact Category. Unbeknownst to me, the car I was rented was a VW Jetta with a broken external door handle, many scratches and dings. The worst part was that the doors did not lock, so I had to haul around my briefcase and my suitcase to each business meeting and event I had planned for my three days in Edmonton. The batteries must have been dead in both of the two keys FOBs that they gave to me as neither worked. Not only was this hauling around of luggage embarrassing but also put my luggage at risk when I had to leave it to use the washrooms at events. If anyone else receives a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta (White) VIN:3VWC57BU4KM185013 , make sure to do your due diligence and ensure that the vehicle is in good condition and the key FOBs allow you to lock the vehicle.

5 stars isn’t enough for this place, should be more! Great place, friendly staff and never had an issue. Mohamud Yusuf, the manager, is a great and awesome guy, will always accommodate you! If you’re unsure which vehicle is best to use, you can always ask him, he has great knowledge with the vehicles, from cars all the way to pick up trucks! These guys has always gone beyond my expectations every visit, and will always continue to stop in occasionally! Definitely a go-to place if you’re planning on having a vehicle while your car is getting extended serviced, repaired from a collision or simply heading out of town for a few days! Picking Up Vehicle. To start with, the guys won't pick me up because I live 2.9 miles away and its way too far for them. When I reached there by myself, the guys seemed startled how I get good deal (I got $10 discount on three days rent). They wanted to see my corporate I.Ds to know how I get the discount. The Indian guy made it clear that unless I show him "proofs" that I got genuine discount he will reverse the discount and charge me some $150 extra (although I got only $10 in discounts). One star for vehicle pick up experience. Vehicle Return. On vehicle return the guy seemed a little bit eased up. He accepted my "proof" of genuine discount, and somehow offered me to drop me home which they previously said is too far away (10 mins drive). Three star for vehicle return experience, on average two star for whole experience. By the way the vehicle itself was not bad though its wipers won't work properly and made a mess instead of clearing the wind shield. I shall update my ratings if I visit them again.
They gave us a car with bald all season tires on one of the worst weeks of winter in Edmonton. My husband who is a very, very comfortable driver, was unable to drive the crapwagon of slideyMcBullshit they gave us. When we returned it early and explained why they did not care at all and told us that the car was from Vancouver and that's just our luck. We will never use this company again.
I reserved a midsize vehicle for a month and they gave me a small car told me they'd call me when something else was in. I drove by a week later and their lot was full so I called and they said nothing was available. Paid for midsize pricing and charged me for a detailing too. Returned the vehicle and once again... full lot... Not ever coming back. Enterprise all the way.

Horrible experience with them. Hertz are scammer and it's not the only time they steal my money. We rent the car for a week until noon. Then I returned the car one hour late but for a reason.. because I would like to extend ! And what happen ? They charged me 62$ because of late return ? But why ? I currently extend the rental so I am not late !!! But in any case, I tried to explain them that they are really stupid to charge people late fees if they extend but they said it's the politic of Hertz. So Hertz has a politic of scammers ! They just steal your money and say that with a big smile ? Sorry staff is not friendly but just really stupid. Even the manager do nothing for us. They just think about their money and are really not customer oriented. Go to hell
I rented a vehicle from this location for two days. One thing I notice was the “vehicle” was not cleaned properly and the customer service to obtain that vehicle was not pleasant. On the day of return I got charged an extra day. I was shocked, specially in an environment where covid-19 is hurting everyone. I just want to make an awareness this company seems unprofessional, don’t have a moral compass and would exploit people. So frustrating that hertz managers would do this (Unprofessional). No wonder hertz is declaring bankruptcy or maybe they want to exploit the government.

My wife already wrote a bad review, but I have to say it again . Terrible customer service, the counter service said call customer service and they will fix issue, then customer service said they can't fix it only the counter can ... lol so which is it ....my wife and I (yes married) booked a vehicle with my CC and she used her drivers license, when we got there they said we weren't allowed to do that and we have to cancel and wait 10 days for a return or just be out 100 dollars from our online booking and book again in my name ... every other car rental place we have booked with we simply add the other driver when we are there , but Hertz refused and said its against their policy, even though we are married and will both be driving the car , that they could not process our reservation because we had her license with my CC.. the staff then said its in your email agreement. I opened the agreement right in front of him and there is no where that it says the license that booked the car must match the CC..... the staff refused to look at the agreement after I read it and told him to read it ... worst customer service ever ..guess we will stick with Enterprise since they have no issue simply adding a driver upon arrival and showing the CC...

My cousin just rented a 2020 Corolla from May 28th at 9:30am until June 12th @ 4:00 pm. Apart from receiving a top-of-the-line vehicle (trust me, I rent vehicles all the time for work, this vehicle was very nice), the staff at this location were very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. She had to reach out to the branch twice and both times they were hassle-free, straight forward and very helpful. She spoke with / was assisted by Mohamud, Patel and Summit at this location (Edmonton south 8624 53 Ave NW). If you want to rent a vehicle at a great rate and have a great customer experience, check them out!
We reserved a different SUV from Thrifty and they didnt have it anymore when we got there. They were accommodating enough to give us a 2019 Van (Sienna) which was perfect for our needs. Great van with cruise control. Very easy to maneuver.

Louis is definitely THE best customer service rep that I've ever interacted with both in person and over the phone. He thoroughly explained everything and diminished all of my rental-related concerns. Hertz is quite lucky to have him! 5 stars for the customer service.
We've always gotten good service and great pricing here. Recommended. We rent here several times per year and the staff at this location always take good care of us. They are even proactive about finding us the best deal/discount. My only complaint is that they don't always have a large selection of vehicles on site so if your rental is spur of the moment, you may have to take what you can get. However, if you book ahead they can usually arrange to have whatever you want ready for you.

based on the service that I have received by the branch manager and his team over the past two years I have been renting with hertz. The team at 8624 53 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB location have made me feel welcome every time I have stepped into the location or pick up the phone to do my bookings. I highly recommend this location.

Stealing money from me by charging me extra $600 for windshield crack that came from a chip that was pre existing. Even took pictures the day after getting the vehicle because the guy who did our walk around did not see the chips because it was dark outside. Only saw it the next day during daylight and wanted proof in case they tried to charge me. Said there were no chips reported on previous inspections, even though there was speedy glass on the chip that caused the crack. Took a week of calling every day to finally speak to the manager, who told me the crack didn't come from the chip I took pictures of. SAFE TO SAY DONT GO HERE. No moral compass charging a student during a pandemic $600 that she should not be liable for.
I enjoyed going to this location. The staff was very accommodating. He was a Asian gentlemen that helped us was very good. He went above and beyond in searching for a bigger car for us to make sure all of us fit. Called the west end location to make sure they had one available and upgraded us at no charge. Which we greatly appreciated. Thank you. The only reason I gave them a 4 star out of a 5 was because there was no vehicle walk through done for us which made us a bit uneasy as we did not want to be charged for something that we did not damage.

Worst customer service ever ! My husband and I made a reservation under my name with his credit card online and we paid in full. We were both there to pick the car up and they refused to rent it to us because of the person who booked (me) and credit card name (my husband) aren't the same person. They wouldn't add him to the reservation and said we had to book a new car and wait ten business days to get the money we had prepaid already. We have rented from many other car rentals places and we've always done it this way including from Hertz in B.C. Also it was not written in the agreement we were emailed. So they added all this extra stress on a already stressful day !

I have dealt with hertz a couple of times..my first experience was fantastic..friendly and professional. My second experience was also good..I wanted to change pickup locations. I was told it is difficult if I had prepaid for my car on priceline. But he made it work. He told me it wasn't a problem to change locations for pickup as long as I gave some notice and did not pre pay. He was friendly and professional. My most previous experience was not good. I once again booked through priceline and couldn't find the location I wanted. So I gave them a call and explained. The man I spoke to told me I couldn't do it..I was trying to explain that I was told previous that I could, and he was laughing at me while I was talking. He then told me to call the day I am to pick up to so he's not wasting my time on the phone with me now. We'll I canceled the entire thing and I will never use Hertz again! Teach your employees to not laugh at a customer while they are talking! Rude!!!!

Renters Beware got a rental through the car dealership. when I first I picked up the truck they didn't clean the inside even though they called it sterilization. found dirt on the dash, and the floor was dirty, even parts of the outside was not very clean. When they did the walk through for damages the gentleman took less then 30 sec. once I dropped it off they took 3-4 min looking it over. then the want to charge me for a xhip on the windshield. I asked for the windshield policy and they gave me the generic policy. I had to look it up online. found any chip under 2mm was not charged. they wouldnt come out to measure it with me and said that's not their policy. even though its was directlyoff the Hertz website. they do not follow franchise rules and gouge on the own. I will never return to that location

Mohamed Yusuf is the manager and not the most professional guy. Not proactive as a manager. He would rather let the vehicle stay onsite rather then rent it out . My the situation is the online booking as a gold member showed lower rate then this location. I asked if I can take the vehicle, they refused because I wasn’t willing to pay double . The funny part is the vehicle ended staying parked for two days Of the weekend. Rodriguez, the other employee as stated the quality of service depends on the duration of the rental.

I booked my car in the morning, and told them I would be by at 530 to pick it up. when I got to hertz there was one customer in front of me. it took the guy an hour to get these people a car and they are return customers! I used to work for a car rental company, to make a person wait an hour for a car they have already booked is unacceptable. terrible service, it would be more convenient to take the bus
The customer service at this location needs to act more professional. I called and asked for adjustments and the guy said to cancel it yourself and redo the reservation. Then I cancelled and was not able to get a new reservation. When called back the guy said that I cannot help you! The name of the customer service rep was Muhammed as far as I recall. What a disappointment at this location!
The staff here is extremely sketchy, make sure you check the car from the outside and also mechanically. Return the car if you think something mechanically wrong even if they insist its okay. Will blame you for damage, keep a documented record for everything, will lie to your face.

Booked a car rental for 8 AM. I got to the location at 7:55 AM and walked inside. No one was at the desk and I could hear voices in the back. I shouted "hello" a couple of times and no one came out front. 10 minutes later, someone came out and was talking on a cellphone. He continued to speak on the cellphone while trying to assist me. He told me the car wasn't ready yet. Ended up being 30 minutes late.
DO NOT RENT FROM HERTZ! Buyer beware. I needed to cancel my rental and called over the phone to see if it was possible. They told me it was and that I would see the refund on my card in a few weeks. Refund never came. Called today and they said I could not receive a refund, because I didn't have a valid reason. I told them at the time of cancellation the employee I was never asked for a reason, just told that I would receive a full refund. If I had been told to give a reason and the reason wasn't valid I would have carried out the rental. When I called to talk to a manger they appoligzed for the employees negligence but would still not give a refund. Then, they hung up on me! This is not a company that deserves patronage if that is how they treat customers. Be careful dealing with this company. They are not forthwith, and will not rectify the mistakes of their employees. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
Clean Car but slow check in. I went in they gave me the wrong different keys and different car. Then when i was about to drive away they came out quickly and said this is the wrong car they gave me took another 10 mins to get me to the right car. People working their needs to put attention in details. Overall it was good. Only thing cannot return car on Sunday. Other rental companies you can drop the car. Hertz needs to change their stupid policy. Even if you drop keys on Sunday. Its not registered until Monday. Stupid.
I am surprise there are a few very bad ratings because my experience with this Hertz Car Rental location was excellent! I rented a Toyota Corolla for one day and the gentleman assisting me was extremely accommodating and helpful! Since I have a German drivers license it was a bit more complicated but he did everything to make it as easy and hasslefree as possible. The car I was given was in excellent condition from the outside to the inside to the feeling of driving it. I was very satisfied with my experience and if I ever needed to rent a car again I would most definitely come back!
