Nice car and fairly good service but not everyone is on the same page. Your site specifically says there is a 0-59 minute grace period to return the car but not everyone at your location is informed on company policy. There were also dents and scratches that were not marked when I originally got the car as the agent said that everything was fine and only when I showed them these dents and scratches did they mark them.

This was my 1st time renting car with Hertz and I can definitely say that it was the best experience ever. Manager 'Hiten' at the Calgary Airport location went above and beyond to make our experience great. He was alone when we went to get the car and even in such big line up he kept his calm and assisted each and every client happily and thoroughly. I've rented cars at many different places via different representatives but this one was the best experience I ever had. The staff at the Hertz Airport location is definitely setting up the bar higher for other car rentals in the area. Highly appreciate the great service and experience. Going forward this has to be my go to place for any car rental needs. Thank you Hertz.

Quick shout out to Talat at the Calgary airport location; helped ease the way for a ski trip with lots of luggage late on New Years day (was afraid the counter would be closed) - at the check-in counter and outside in the lot! Many thanks Talat - we really appreciate your efforts! As for the rental - clean SUV, everything works as it should - snow brush in place - decent gas mileage for a trip into the mountains. Can't ask for much more.

My flight arrives early and I went to pickup my vehicle. She informed me I was an hour early and so I had to come back. I asked if there were any other cars and she said no. I walked away and went online, and attempted to rent a vehicle with the new time. I was able to do so. I went back up to the counter and when I let the staff know the information, she said, sorry I have 3 vehicles but my manager won't let me give them early. I clearly knew it was because I bought a cheap reservation vehicle and they did not want to accomodate. What terrible service! I cancelled my reservation- and made an reservation and got my vehicle through Avis. I always look for deals- but will ALWAYS pay extra if it means service. I will not be back to Hertz if this is the level of service they provide and believe is acceptable. Could have made a customer happy and for life- instead they could care less.

ABSOLUTELY WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. We were in Canmore and drove to Banff and the engine indicator said it was overheating. we pulled off to the side of the road. We called road side assistance at 1:30. They initially said they would send a tow truck which would pick us up in 90 mins then drive us to Calgary. We then would have to drive back to Canmore where we had our accommodations. WHICH IN IT OF IT SELF MAKES NO SENSE. They initially said the tow truck would get to us at 3:00, then 4:45. We didn’t get picked up until almost 6. We didn’t get our replacement car past 10pm at night. Had the tow truck driver not had the courtesy of driving us back to our hotel, we would have been stranded on the side of the road for a better part of 9 hours, not to mention being two young females being stuck stranded at night. They gave us minimal compensation that we had to fight for.

From what started out as a nightmare to our Canada trip was turned around by Mike from Hertz! We arrived to Calgary instead a day later from my original reservation but Mike was so friendly and accommodating, he upgraded our car to a Jeep Wrangler for a great deal! Got us out of the airport and onto the road very promptly so we could finally enjoy our mini vacay during Thanksgiving weekend!

I had reserved a Camry or similarly sized midsize car and when I arrived they didn't have one available. They instead offered me a smaller Corolla, but when I asked for the rate to be based on the smaller car they made a big deal about it.... Why should I have to ask to pay the rate for the smaller/lesser car when I had reserved the larger car, which they couldn't provide, and then instead gave me the smaller car. Come on! Two stars only because the car was brand new... mind you they didn't remove a bunch of the plastic on the inside.

Bad experience with Hertz in Calgary Airport. Due to booking the wrong flight, I did not show up at the arranged time for pick up. I call Hertz the day before and ask them if it was going to be an issue. They said it was fine and that I had twenty-four hours to pick up the vehicle. When I showed up late to pick up the rental, Hertz agent said that no vehicle was available because they gave it to someone else. I was able to pick up a vehicle the next day but not what I booked. It cost me an extra seventy dollars for Uber ride to and from airport. Customer service definitely needs improvement. I talked with agents from other rental agency in the same building and they definitely had better customer service. There was no inspection of the vehicle. To be safe side I did a 360 video recording of the vehicle in case of dispute during my return. Two stars because the return was quick and efficient otherwise, one or zero star.

Expect to pay much more than the online quote. My car was $100 more than expected and the excuse was that the online fee for location is an estimate. This is not reasonable, becasue the Hertz website knew where the pickup was occurring. These rental companies use these tactics to get your business by offering a falsely low price. Hertz was most recently fined for this practice in 2017 by the Competition Bureau of Canada, but these practices continue.

I returned my rental car at the Hertz in Calgary Airport. The employee checking in my car pointed to a miniscule surface scratch that was halfway under the bumper and said that I had damaged the car. The scratch was so small and halfway under the car that I asked her if she was joking. She would not let me leave without signing that the car was damaged. The "damage" was so small and I was so irate, that I did not think to take a picture of it. Honestly, I have no way of proving that I didn't do the damage other than the fact that I know I didn't run the car into anything for the 3 days I had it. Even if I had taken pictures of it when I received the car, I doubt I would have taken a picture of a spot almost under the car. 2 months later, I get a phone call saying that I owe 458 dollars for repair of the bumper. I have never seen such ridiculous service in my life. Why would anyone even bother to repair that "damage"? It was barely noticeable and halfway under the car. Furthermore, I don't believe I caused the damage. A warning to all, if you don't want to be scammed, take pictures of all angles of your rental car, even under the bumper. Update: Hertz Corporate did rectify the situation. I definitely learned my lesson about documenting EVERYTHING. Even under the car before taking out a rental car.

The longest wait times and with an average price. We rented two cars from them and it wasn’t a great experience. I’d recommend going with Enterprise, customers are in and out with slim to no wait times. Hertz staff also doesn’t have consistent knowledge to best serve their customers as well as giving them the best deal.

Had reservation for a full size sedan. Got convinced to upgrade to full size SUV (almost double the price). After returning the SUV to the airport I noticed that I got charged 170$ more for 'extra hours' because the upgrade rental was not set for the same period as the original reservation. The agent was not willing to help and asked me to go into their office, stand in line and talk with reservations - while I need to catch my flight. Not a way to do business with loyal customer.

As a PC Hertz member, this location specializes in providing high mileage cars (40000km+ approaching 52000km that I saw) and out of province vehicle. I can't imagine what's it like for regular members. My vehicle required maintenance mid way and the new vehicle I got had significant hail damage. For a company that's on the verge of bankruptcy, this is basically a vicious circle for them, with poor service, you lose the ability to command a revenue premium, and the circle continues. My advice if you are going to book Hertz is to expect the same service a local no brand car rental agency might provide in Calgary.

Service is good, but no quick pick-up for Gold membership. Lined up took a good amount of our sleepy time (over 30 minutes but I lost count) while there were only 4 customers ahead of us. Missed the go-to-the-parking-lot & drive-off offered at other airport outlets. Return was chaotic. The lot was just too small & the signs are horrible. And the rate? Blame it on COVID.

Nothing but amazing things to say about Hertz at YYC. Agnes and Mike are very accommodating to my requests and as a President Circle member, I’m spoiled with the upgrade offers. In the past couple of months I’ve been graciously offered the 2021 models of the Ford Mustang GT, Volvo S60, Dodge Charger GT during my travels for an incredible deal. During the winter months, they gave me a complimentary upgrade to the Buick Encore GX to deal with the icy roads. Manu was courteous every time with returns. Overall I’m always looking forward to my trip to Calgary thanks to the thrilling experience of driving a new car.

WORST SERVICE EVER. I had a booking 2 weeks in advance. I even called the day before my pickup date to confirm everything was good to go. I get a call less than 24 hours before pickup that they will cancel my booking. No help, no consolation, no substitution. Just a, "we dont have a car for you, good luck". If you want to be stranded at the airport, go ahead and book with Hertz. They wouldn't even give my refund easily. They gave me a number to chase my refund after ruining my entire trip.

I had had the worst day imaginable. Was trying to get back to Saskatchewan from Vancouver where I had just had surgery. Air canada screwed up and wouldn't put me on my flight from Vancouver to Regina. Anyway I got to calgary in hopes of renting a car. Frank unfortunately had to deal with my emotional state of mind. And there was a mix up with my reservation (ALL MY FAULT) and Frank stayed late to help me sort through the mix up and upgraded me to a vehicle that had a huge fuel tank so I wouldn't have to worry about gas stations on the way home in the middle of the night. FRANK was amazing and definitely deserves a raise or something. Definitely Employee of the month at the very least. He stayed calm even when I did get angry over the mix up and I'm so embarrassed how I treated him. I blame the surgery making me emotional lol. Will recommend and use again!

Went to Calgary for vacation and used Hertz rental car. Condition of the vehicle was superb. Fuel consumption was also exreamly good. Prices are also reasonable and used the vehicle for 5 days and dropped off at Edmonton airport counter. Recommend their service with give stars and will definitely use their service in future.

It took us three hours to get our car on Tuesday Sep 7. 2+ hours waiting in line (7 people in front of us) and then almost an hour to process our rental because their system was "slow". How hard is it to charge your credit card and give you the keys to your car? It takes two seconds to check in to a hotel and three hours to rent a car. I don't care that you're experiencing technical difficulties, no system should ever be this slow. Completely unacceptable. The service is fine, they're doing what they can given the software they're given but honestly you should fire your entire software development department. This delay forced us to change our plans and we didn't do everything we wanted to do because of Hertz. Also they ended up authorizing almost a thousand dollars more than they were supposed to. Hopefully this will resolve itself after we drop off the car tomorrow. The car itself was fine but very basic.

The absolute worst customer service and car rental company. These guys are all scams. If anything goes awry during your rental you can make sure that they will take no responsibility and leave you hanging to dry. I got a flat tire during my rental and when I called roadside assistance they said that the tire would be covered. When we went to get reimbursed when dropping off the car they acted like they had no idea what we were talking about and refused to give us our money back. They told us they would get in contact with roadside and call us back but they were sure we would not be getting our money back. This was on-going for about a week. They didn't return any of my calls until I finally spoke to the manager Surrinder a week later and told me that pretty much everything I said was a lie and they were confirming that they wouldn't reimburse me and if I wanted to contact head office I could but they were done dealing with this. When I contacted head office they immediately informed me that they would reimburse me. The representative was apologetic and told me that this location had no funds in their account which is why they were hesitant to reimburse me. Why would anyone trust a company like this???????

i rented from Hertz YYC, Thelma was the one who took care of my rental, she is very friendly and helpful, my trip was driving up to the Rocky , then returned the car at yvr, she recommended me a very reliable car to use in case of icy and snowy road conditions. She even gave me her office phone number to call just in case if last minute change, I pack it in my luggage as I didn't think I would need to call her anyway. But then a week after my trip started, bc had the worst flooding in history and all the roads back to Vancouver were closed, I called Thelma again to change my return location to Kelowna and she told me not to worry. I rented from many Hertz locations before she is the best I have met.

We ordered a Toyota RAV4 or similar vehicle for Nov 27, 20 at Calgary airport from Hertz through Auto Europe. Hertz representative Georgis was very nice and polite. They were out of Toyotas so Georgis gave us a choice between KIA Sorento and Nissan Rouge. We choose Nissan as our car at home is an Infiniti and we were more familiar with Nissan family. About 15 min into our journey, as soon as we hit 80km/h our Nissan started to vibrate to the point that we had to pull over. After quick conversation with Georgis at Hertz we were on our way back to the airport. It took another 10 min to switch to a new vehicle. Due to all this trouble and inconvenience Georgis gave us an upgrade, Mazda CX-9. We were happy with the change and his seamless service.

Hired a car from calgary airport $135 daily rate for an intermediate as a 21 year old which is still quite expencive. It was presented fairly poorly washed and also came with NO BLUETOOTH OR NAVIGATION! and then within 2 hours of renting it overheated called up roadside assistance and were told we have to wait 2 hours for a tow truck then be driven 2 hours back to the airport to collect the new car and drive the 2 hours back again. Mind you we were only in the area and the car would be returned within 12 hours of hiring it we decided to wait for the tow truck and give them everything for a full refund from hertz the tow truck arrived 3 hours later... We then call up and get tranfered through 5 call centers telling me to go to the next department. I was told twice that a manager would call me back all with no reply. Finally got in contact with a manager after 4 calls and were finally told we would get our money back Ruined our trip and wasted another 2 days of our vacation very disapointed wouldnt go back. Would rate them no stars if i could

So we rented from Edmonton for trip. As soon as left for highway. The gmc yukonxl started vibrating. As it was off duty hours had to head Calgary Airport Hertz location. Their the manager Azma helped us a lot and gave it to maintenance first thing as it opened up. Thank you for that. We did lost quite a bit time. But I m from a service industry so I know unwarranted things happen but to solve it satisfactory is of utmost importance. That is what the staff did.

Very slow process, after waiting in line for 20 mins with 1 person ahead of us, we were told to wait for 20-40 more mins for the car to be cleaned. This ended up being way longer than 40 mins, closer to 1:20. This all given the car pickup time we originally selected on the website was around 40 mins earlier than the time when we actually made it to the Hertz office as there was a delay with the luggage as well. Not recommending to anyone unless you have some spare time and very strong nerves.

Additional GPS rented (Neverlost) was unreliable. I was charged $20 a day for somthing that was unusable. When I complained, Hertz's response was to return it back to the airport. At this point I was over 200kms away and would have to make a 400km round trip to make the return so this was unfeisible. Again, I brought this up when returning the hired car and was not offered compensation. This is unacceptable.

Charged me a smoking fee when I never smoked inside the rental because they made it clear that it’s not a smoking vehicle and I respected that and they still charged me $400 smoking fee for something I never did! This company is very bad with customer service and I wouldn’t recommend ANYONE to rent from them!

Booked the vehicle directly with their website and got confirmation number. They denied saying that they don't have vehicle as it was a same day booking and I had to give them 24 hrs notice. Manager on duty was unprofessional and rude person. Didn't wanted to help at all and wouldn't accept their mistake. He said that our website shows the message of 24 hrs heads up when you book the car , When asked to show the message, He said I won't show it to you . # 1 liar in the town. No empathy at all with the clients and guests.

Terrible experience. Returned the car and a few days later received a text warning me to return the car or repossession will be called. There seems to be no line of communication between this location and HQ. 2 Weeks later and I have not been able to get a straightforward answer on the status of the reservation as it can't be looked up online anymore. Will not rent from Hertz again.

Rented a car for a week from this hertz. Thelma helped make our experience incredible. We were able to get. a car with snow tires which was much needed in February. Would highly recommend renting from this location and working with Thelma if possible!

Hertz counter rep at this location are very helpful and accommodating. The only thing I hope they can do better is to check their vehicle regularly since I had 3 cars with mechanic problems during the past few years...

EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE! The experience started with a bit of frustration because they ran out of small size cars and only had vans available (which wasn't going to be suitable for me since I was going to be driving 2,000+ KMs and the gas would have been way more expensive). I was so lucky to have an excellent representative named Sunny. He went out of his way to listen to my frustration (I was pretty upset) and was able to switch the car the next day with what I initially needed. It was a long weekend so the car rental office was very busy but I'm really grateful for Sunny and felt like i was well taken care of!

Not the happiest experience using Hertz, my first time. I initially reserved an SUV, for myself and my parents (3 people total). An SUV seats 5. When I went to pick up the car, the sales associate at the counter, suggested a minivan stating it was clean, new, good treads and would be very comfortable for us. But since it's three if us, a five seater SUV would be fine. Ultimately, I went with it, but it actually was an oversell. This particular model, would not mute the radio while GPS was navigating. In other words, you hear the radio playing while you're trying to navigate on the road. In addition, I'm used to car rental associates walking me to the car, assessing the vehicle with me and giving me a quick run down in where to locate which buttons and features. Only when I asked, did the guy come and show us. I don't know why I didn't stick to my original SUV plan. We didn't need a bigger car if it's just three of us.

We had to wait 45 minutes in line because their system kept crashing and we ended up with a normal car when we booked a SUV 2 months in advance. Avoid this company at all cost.
