Hertz is a joke. This location insisted on their own so called Company Policy regarding winter tires although no one else in the company knew of it. The staff was rude, unhelpful and disrespectful. If there was any other option I would have walked away but all other companies were sold out. In the future you're not getting my business again EVER! We arrived to pick up our reserved vehicle only to find out there was an additional $900 charge for winter tires. Although we confirmed 3 times with the Hertz reservations line and no charge was ever disclosed, they did not have a car with winter tires and this location would not honour the price or information we received from the reservations line. The 2 sales reps at the counter, one was a shift supervisor who said "I didn't make the mistake so its not my problem". The worst possible customer service ever! Who trains these employees? Hertz should be embarrassed to have employees like this Face of the company because they sure pretend to be in charge. The counter staff told me I was getting their best "Mud and Snow Tires" - Excuse you?! That's not a special tire, nor is it a proper winter tire, why is Hertz endangering people's lives on the road? It's not just the driver and passengers but other cars and families on the road. Did you know that these are actually called "ALL SEASON TIRES" and you're charging $20/day for tires that cost all of $700 to buy new! You should be closed down for cheating the public, that's not good business. The car we got had a British Columbia license plate and its illegal in BC to drive in the winter without snow tires, $121/fine. How to justify driving anywhere in the mountains without snow tires in Canada?!! Does the BC authority know you're letting people rent cars with BC license plates without winter tires to drive around in the winter?! Hertz you've put our lives in danger for $20/day and lack of cars with winter tires. We are on day 6 of our travels and in the lightest snow conditions we are sliding and cannot properly brake, we have to drive super slow, going uphill feels like we will slide backwards. Your so called "Mud and Snow tires" are for 8+ degrees as are all ALL Season tires, talk to your insurance provider! They are not appropriate for -16 conditions, the rubber doesn't react the same in freezing conditions. You should know that! Shame on you Hertz! Overall the experience was horrendous, the staff was rude and unhelpful, they couldn't care less and more so were righteous. Even though we were willing to pay what was an absurd charge they did not have winter tires for us. The only sign and information about the extra charge was posted on a taped paper (photo is attached) to their counter that was ripped and dirty, clearly has not been changed in forever - apparently this is the New Company Policy. Get with the times hertz, get rid of hidden fees and if you do have them, post them online and on our confirmation so we don't get a surprised by it and let alone have to believe that a run down piece of paper is company policy. Treat your paying customers like people, whose lives are worth more than your $20/day policy, get your cars equipped with winter tires and stop ruining people's vacations when they arrive at your counter.

Pickup was fine and the car was clean and ready. I was returning on Friday at 1pm and was told by the staff that they would be open to return. Came Friday to return car and office closed. No key drop as it was all taped up and not allowed to be used. Note on window said leave car in lot and return keys to airport location. I phoned airport location and took car there to return as I did not want to leave in a mall parking lot for 3 days with risk of damage and paying extra days. I would not rent from this location again. Another couple were there picking up and could not get their car they had booked.

Is there an icon for 0 rating? I only use this place because at times they have the best advertised prices online. HOWEVER...each time I do I regret it dearly. Overcharging, waste of time, lying staff and swindling is what I experience EVERY time I go to this Hertz at 32 Avenue NE, Calgary. It's not worth the headache...

Called ahead from Vancouver to reserve a rental, they lied about the price and required information each time until we arrived when all the details were off and they wound up yelling at us saying we never called. Loads of vehicles in the parking lot but none available at the airport. Hurtz has left me and my family stranded with no option but to pay for another taxi. Will never go to another. Enterprise is much better and has shuttles from the airport!

Terrible customer experience! We got the car and no one asked for anyones license. We realized this once in the car and went back to inquire and were told that it was pulled from the online account. We asked what was the license and they said they can't tell us. Ii remembered making that account a long time ago and was worried that it would have an older license, went online and it was an outdated license. Went back inside and asked them to update the rental with the new license and was told they cant.... I said it was illegal to drive with the license they had on file they told me to call the online number. We called and after 15 minutes got a person on the line who said she couldn't change it either. As we were running late we had to just take the car. Then while returning we came in and the guy was leaving and said he would be back in a few minutes. Locked up the shop and left and we waited in the cold for 20 minutes and he came back and we got charged for returning late. Worst place! Hertz please rectify the customer service here.

Gave me a different quoted price when picking up vehicle. Considerably higher. Told me he'd change the price when I returned. Then when dropping off he was leaving and told me to use the key drop off and he'd change the price afterwards. I said i needed a receipt and he threw a tantrum. Very unprofessional.

The experience at the counter was fine and there was nothing wrong with the car we received. I'm giving a low rating because I was charged about $50 more than my quotation. I was told that this was because I was returning the car to the airport and there were additional airport fees. My original quotation clearly showed that I was to return the car to the airport so I can't understand why they would not know the proper rate. Disappointing.

If u can, go to Hertz in downtown. Here, at this place, they are looking for ANY single opportunity to charge you more. My experience at this place was terrible. I rent a car for one week just before they close and I returned it only 10 minutes late, when they were closed. They charged an extra day for nothing!!!

Do not take what they tell you at face value. I asked repeatedly - in person and over the phone each and every time that I renewed my rental - if they were charging my card or just authorizing the charge amount. I was reassured every time that they were charging my card and that it would remain an open bill to cover possible overages such as fuel not filled on return etc. I even received emails from my credit card every week informing me about the "charge" to my account...yeahhhh that's not what happened. After a month of rental and believing that I was current with the charges, I get a charge for the entire amount (less my original deposit of course). I understand that I dropped the ball by trusting them and believing what I was told, but I cannot trust what they say anymore...about anything. Poor training? Misunderstanding the question? Just placating me and saying what they thought I wanted to hear? I don't know, but if I use Hertz again it sure as hell wouldnt be at this location. The only reason I gave them the second star was because the vehicles were exceptional (I have used them before) and usually upgraded from my original reservation. Proceed with caution.

Rented a car from Wednesday to Saturday from this location. Was informed to drop it off on Saturday at the specified time. The manager does not disclose the fact that they are CLOSED on Saturday. I show up and the location is closed. A sign on the door stated that charges will continue to accrue until they reopen on Monday. I try calling their number, nobody picks up. In the end I return the car at a different Hertz location. This was an an awful experience with irresponsible management and customer service who want to overcharge for their negligence in not informing the client of their correct working hours so additional charges accrue on your final bill. Will never use Hertz, awful experience.

The little taxi ride from the airport is worth it for the price and service ! The car was ready when we get there, clean and good tire compare to our friends car from another car rental compagny. Staff is really gentle and respectfull. I hope the return is going to be as easy as the pick up was.

Terrible rental company. Dropped it off and got hit with a 300.00 cleaning fee for smoking in it - I don't smoke - it was the hundreds of forest fires burning throughout the mountains. I guess I burned over 300.00 worth of rubber off the tires. And, the SUV can really lift off the ground when you hit a good sized jump. Might need some new running gear soon ????

I rented a car on the 5th of April it was due to b returned on the 15th, I called to c if I could return it on the 11th and asked what the cost would b I was told 226.60$. I called back the following day and was given a diff price by someone else of 288.05$, this price didn't make sense as I was paying 20$(19.95) per day + the 18$ insurance coverage. Upon renting the car an additional driver needed to b added at a 13$ charge, I couldn't afford both insurance and additional driver so the manager was accommodating at the time and waved the additional driver cost, or so I thought. When I called back again the day of the return I was given the first price of 226.60, I had explained to the gentleman abt the other prices I was given, he said that was the right price. I get there and it showed up on the computer 288.05$ this caused some frustration for me as it turned out I was paying the 19.95 per day rental, 18$ insurance+the 13$ additional driver that was supposively waved. Therefore, 50.95 per day is what I had to pay with taxes 288.05. Conveniently the manager was not there nor available, yes they have nice staff and reliable cars however, they did nothing to rectify the situation. I feel ripped off, lied to, 50.95 a day. I will never rent from here again and I urge u to go elsewhere.

Organized a rental car with these guys as per my auto body shop's recommendation. I had the car for 11 days and gave back with the full tank as per km listed on the car. They still charged $30.00 stating I did not fill the gas. Definitely not very professional. I have never had any issues with any other rental companies in the past. Will not recommend or go with Hertz again. They also did not even tell me they are charging me, I called to ask why is there an extra charge. No very impressed with this company.

They overcharge you and staff is rude and judgy...the new Indian manager on training and another Indian associate speaks in their language about customers not knowing I understood what they were saying. Very unprofessional. I'd suggest avoiding this place.
