When i called again a person named Nishanth said he is new and they could not found the key without asking any details from me. Everything was good until I was advised the kind of vehicle I reserved (small) wasn't available. I needed a car and I had to rent a big, big van. Same price....? Price from Discount, yes. Price for me, NO. More gas, more problem parking anywhere, more pollution.... iIf they don't have the kind of car I want them I should be advised at the moment I reserved it.

I would give them 0 stars if it were possible. Made a reservation, was told to call them 30 minutes before required pickup. Did that and was on hold for probably 40 minutes before being forwarded to the office that was to rent me the car. They said someone would be there in 25 minutes and they would call upon arrival. Never happened. Called again and... you guessed it had to wait on hold with the USA 1-866# again for about 30 minutes before getting forwarded to the local office. The guy said the driver was on their way, not the case. He put me on hold again and never came back. NEVER RENTING FROM THEM AGAIN.

This is my first time rental experience with Discount, and I am absolutely happy with the rental. I got a 2017 Chevy Equinox with 2007km! on the odometer, and the vehicle is very clean and smell very pleasant. The customer service is the best in my opinion, very welcoming and professional. I got the additional coverage for the windsheild and tire (they call it 'Peace of Mind' package) just for $6.99/day which eventually saved my $60.00 because I got a rockchips on the windshield. I shall definitely rent from this company and specially from this branch.

The staff at the 99 St & 35 Ave Discount Car & Truck Rentals location were incredibly friendly and helpful. They upgraded me to a SUV for free for my trip down to Calgary and made sure the car was warmed up and clean before I left. They did a thorough job of going over the paperwork and of the walk-around inspection. Finally, they were flexible on my return time when I mentioned I might be an hour or two late returning it. Highly recommend this location to anyone renting in the south side.

Below is my original 1* review but I have admit since then Discount have been great. David at the south branch was great at fixing any issues and getting me the right vehicle. I loved them at first, then was very frustrated, but I am happily using Discount again. "I don't know what has happened to this company recently. I used to use them all the time for my business and they were great. But the last two times I have used them the service has been appalling."

I rented a truck for one day this past week. I had booked it for the 4th. Then needed to change pick up to the 3rd in the evening before they closed. Truck would sit over night at my home. I asked before hand over the phone if there is an extra charge for picking up the night before, I specifically asked if I would be charged a second day and I was told "NO" (Note: there was an extra $10.00 fee for picking it up the night before, that was not a big deal, but wondered why this was not told over the phone) So proceeded to pick up truck that evening. (Truck would not be used until the next morning) While there I asked when is the time limit I need to bring it back, and was told the "same time next day". I used the truck for approx. 11 hours. Dropped it off that night at about 6:30, keys in drop box. The next day I find out there is an extra days charge of $100 on credit card! I was told BEFORE HAND there is no extra charge! Turns out they started charging from the evening before when the truck was picked up! EVEN THOUGH I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO EXTRA CHARGE FOR PICKING IT UP THE NIGHT BEFORE AND TOLD THEM THE TRUCK WOULD NOT BE USED UNTIL THE NEXT MORNING! They also started the time count from 5:15pm when I first walked in (had to wait for a friend to arrive) , but the paper work and the keys to the truck did not get done until closer to 6:00pm!! I am in dismay as to how difficult it is for this company to answer basic questions regarding prices and rental time before I rent the truck and why none of what was said before hand was fact! Had I known there was a charge for having the truck the night before, I would not have rented it! Money is tight these days, and can't afford an extra $100 charge! Not to mention it is MORE THEN THE ORIGINAL DAYS RENTAL FEE! So how can this be a days charge fee! It seems like thing are being made up as they go, or no one knows the answers to basic rental questions from one person to the next who works there! The positive is the gentleman who took me to the truck to make sure it was in good condition, was the most professional experience out of the whole thing! This is the second time I used this company, and the previous experience was great and the reason I rented again. Not sure how this went so bad this time around. I will NOT RENT FROM HERE AGAIN! And family members who will be moving soon will not rent from here either!

Be extremely careful renting from them, I had to use them for an insurance claim. They came to the auto body shop and drove me to the rental office to start the rental process. The rental associate did a very quick walk around with me and there were no dings or anything on the doors. He didn't suggest to me that I should look around the bottoms of the doors, or down by the front of the apron of the car. After the car was returned I received a phone call saying I dented the front end by the bumper. The rental was with me for less than 24 hours and the damage they say I caused I know for a fact I did not do, I sent the body shop a picture and was advised they thought it was old damage.. Discount car rental automatically contacted my insurance without seeing if I wanted to pay for the damages privately even though I didn't cause them. So. long story short. Learn from me. Go over your rental car with a fine tooth comb, take pictures before you leave the lot with it. I will not recommend this company to anyone.

Rented a car a few weeks ago. Still havent got my deposit back. I called and was told it's being "processed". Want to know what would happen at my work if it took me 2 weeks to give someone their money back? I'd be fired. This is unacceptable and I will never rent through discount again. What a waste of time dealing with discount. When I rented with enterprise I had zero issues. And my deposit was in my mailbox within a week after I returned my rental vehicle. DONT RENT WITH DISCOUNT. GO ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE.

After my free weekend (buy two, get one free), I extended my rental by one day and this location was very accommodating. When bringing back the car, the manager very strongly suggested that I drop off the car at another location in order to make my ride to work more convenient for them. Over the past month of rentals, there has never been cream for the complimentary coffee.

I rented a cargo van on two occasions and the service was excellent.The staff was very helpful and friendly and the vehicles were clean and well maintained. I rented a cube truck a few days ago and the manager, Tanvir, offered me a significant discount as I was able to rent the truck mid-week. He freely offered the discount and it was really appreciated. I was given a drive home as well when I returned the truck. 10 out of 10 service!

This is by far the worst car rental I have even seen. Customer service is non existent. Management does not wish to resolve issues. I brought up my dissatisfaction and I was basically told to deal with it. I do not recommend using this place for your business. Stay away.

Absolutely fantastic service. I booked online and got my dates and pickup location completely wrong (there are several branches in Edmonton). This branch was my local one and I arrived with no prior warning where I was greeted warmly all dates and requirements amended and at a fantastic cost all thanks to Jay. This place has the worst service ever. I do not recommend this place to anyone. They lie, they cheat, they are thieves, and they are dishonest. Specifically the location at 9926 35 Ave NW, Edmonton They didn’t have me sign the paperwork in front of them, when I returned the vehicle they disappeared with the paperwork I brought in, then came back and had me sign areas of damage that I didn’t do. When you look at the paperwork, the dates don’t match up with the dates I took and returned the vehicle, and they have threatened to take me to court for something I didn’t do. I have reached out to the head office management and they have done nothing except support the corruption of this location. I am a senior citizen, and their complete lack of regard for giving me all this stress is unbelievable

Rented a truck from them in June, drove it for a few days and started to notice a very bad smell in it. I looked in the center console and there was a bag of ROTTING MEAT that was left there by previous renters. Spoke to the manager who's name I believe was Affad and got a second rental truck and was told that I wouldn't have to worry about paying for the extra insurance for the first truck, and that I would be getting a discount on the insurance for the second truck. Over one month later I finally get my deposit back from them and they charged me the insurance deposit for the first truck. I was told multiple times the manager was looking into it or would get back to me and I haven't heard anything at all. Disgraceful customer service. I do not appreciate being lied to.

They had prompt pick up, friendly service. They called me the next day to see if everything was satisfactory with my rental. The only thing I'd like to note is that I was getting the rental through my insurance company as someone had rear ended me , and they told me I would get a vehicle "as close to equivalent" as mine. They ended up giving me a mini van even though the driver told me they had a Jeep come available right before he dropped me off. Oh well, I was still pleased over all. The drivers were really nice too

This company deserves 0 starts but have to give them at least one to post. We rented a vehicle from this location while our truck was in the shop a few months back and since we own a business needed something that would be reliable. While filling the truck up with gas it failed to start and caused us to miss meetings with clients and lost sales. We took the truck back and were given a larger truck and at the cost of gas was not impressed. We waited at a set of gas pumps for three hours for the vehicle to start and when we tried to deal with the owner he just avoided us when we came into the store and would not return phone calls. Worst vehicle rental company ever.

**** PLEASE READ BEFORE YOU GO THERE***** If i could give them 0 stars i would the service was horrible we went there to pick the car up at 11 only to find out that the car wasnt even clean and we had to wait another 30 minutes for them to clean it. After when he pulled the car out from the garage he just said there you go. We went to banff four my boyfriends birthday only to be pulled over by a cop and when he asked for the registration and insurance there wasnt any inside so i got a 300 dollar ticket and my insurance will now go up because it looks like to the insurance company i drive without my insurance and they refused to pay for the ticket and have it on there drivers abstract so now instead itll will be put on mine. So if you would like to be treated the way we were treated i reccomend going to them, otherwise stay away they will only screw you over. Thanks for the great service.
