Horrible customer service. The lady who checked me in made it seem like I was ruining her day by picking up my rental. When I apologized for the inconvenience she replied "but you're not really sorry, are you?" I don't know how they expect to have return customers after an interaction like that. Their only saving grace is that they are open on Sundays unlike the others in the city. I certainly hope that this was a one-off, but I will not be returning.

Went on line and booked a car for later in the day. Also called the 1-800 to confirm availability and also did a on line chat. Avis staff confirmed car was available. Showed up at counter and surprise, no cars available. Went back to on line chat and all they could say was sorry, this sometimes happens.

I rent from here several times each year, and have never had a problem. Inexpensive rates, and once or twice when they didn't have the model I booked they upgraded me to a better model at no charge. Quick service, and no issues.

Each time I rent from here I always have a bad experience. The lady who oversees the rental is rude, inconsiderate, and it always feels like you’re bothering her and wasting her time. I believe this is the manger that I have felt with. I would not recommend any one renting from them. My last rental I had with them, I had booked for a specific time but no one was here to help me, because they went to wash a car. Just very unprofessional

Website will show cars that not really available at the office. Also, my CC shows multiple payment by Avis on same order, I had to call twice to make sure it's an automatic cancellation. Prices are good comparing to others .

I had a very wierd experience in this branch! I rented a car here on October 16 without any issue. I booked a car a week after that on October 23 and they did not give me a car. When I asked why, the lady at the reception desk said that they no longer rent cars to drivers with GDL 5 driver's license. After renting cars from Budget/Avis for 6 YEARS without any problem, I was shocked by this statement. It is surprising that I can rent cars from Avis branches in Edmonton and Calgary now, but not from the Red Deer branch! So, what is the rationale behind this decision?

Called in to verify whether or not everything with the rental car I dropped off went smooth and to their standard. Got a hold of a very rude and impatient clerk. She was very upset with me referring to the security deposit as"damage deposit" and made sure I would know I said that wrong. Which I thought was very rude, considering she knew what I was getting at. Then I asked if she could look into the rental I dropped off, but said if there would be something wrong they would call me, which again I know is wrong, as in the past my card was charged for things without calling me prior. So I finally asked if she could check into the car for me, I gave her the car make and model, along with plate number, and she continued to be rude and told me it should be fine, she was not the one to check it and hung up on me. This was the most unpleasant experience I have had in all the time renting through Avis Red Deer, located now at the Quality Inn on the north end of town. If management cares, they should probably consider letting her go, as there are enough willing, qualifying, unemployed people in town. If me making sure all is well with the car I rented through you is too much of a pain in your " Customer Service Representatives", I would say you do not know unpleasant bad customers.

200km limit and 90cents for additional km on big 8-seat SUV, and 250$ for a day. Minivan around 100$ and etc.. Wait, whaaat? Hope you kindly asking for tips and donation as well .. Entire rental situation in Canada - beyond retardness. Well, in general here's pondemonium shitshow in country. God bless working class heroes.

It took 45 min for me to return a vehicle while someone was at the service desk. I then worked through changing up my requested vehicle with the gal.... Just to show up on the day I'm supposed to leave with the wrong booking and more expensive than stated. We had to take what was available or we'd miss our flight but all while we were trying to figure out the details the service representative was incredibly short and rude. I think I'll pass on Avis next time... Not for me!!

Very bad customer follow up. I booked a van about a week in advance to my trip and was told they have it and it will be available for pick up on the requested date. I could not get a booking number at the time because something was wrong with my company number. I was told they were going to call me back. I did not hear anything and followed up 2 days before my trip and was told the person who was looking in to it wasn't at work and they will get back to me. I called again the day before for pick up in the afternoon and they could not give me an answer. The person said he is trying to get a status from Calgary management. He also said the van is not in the parking lot so I knew I was screwed. I called all of their managers in Calgary to see what my options are. Not one answered and finally a receptionist took pity and had a manager call back. She promised to look in to it but can't do more. I was forces to scramble last minute to book through other companies. It's now passed closing time and I have yet to hear back from the local branch or the manager. Sad thing is they are the preferences service provider for my company so I guess I can't say I won't use them again. But next time im going to demand a picture of the vehicle in their parking lot before I trust their word again. (Only applies to specialty vehicles, you are pretty safe with the typical car)

They do not offer pick up and drop off services. They charge 3.00 dollars/liter for gas if you do not fill up the tank. After 3 days of renting for the price of 57 dollars, I was charged an extra 20 dollars for being only one hour late in returning the vehicle. I have been to enterprise many many times and it has not been like this even once.

Rented a "Hyundai Elantra or similar' thru Priceliine in September 2021 for 3 days (Friday to Monday). Got a Nissan Kicks mini-SUV with 24,000 KM on the odometer and multiple windshield. chips. Cost for 3 days on Priceline was C283. The Avis agent pre-authorized my credit card for $500 and was stern when warning me against leaving a mess in the car when returning it. The car didn't give me any problems, but the chemical/perfume smell inside was pretty strong. The unpleasant smell disappeared only on the 2nd day.... When I brought it back, I stopped at the gas station nearby andI filled up the tank. I handed in the keys 1 hour earlier that I was supposed to (8:30 AM vs 9:30 AM). The agent didn't say anything about that. The car was pretty clean, no 'mess'. The clerk went out to check out the car, came back and said, 'It smells of gas. If I cannot air it out, we'll have to send it for detailing (!)". I explained I just filled it up with gas, but she said cannot rent it out because of the smell.I said, "Do you want me to drive it around with open windows?" She said, "I cannot let you have the car for free (!)". I said, 'I'm 1 hour early!" Anyway, I don't think this particular agent likes her job. She was unfriendly and sometimes - hostile. If I'm charged for unnecessary detailing due to 'gas smell', I'll be complaining to the Avis Head Office and the owner of the rental agency. You shouldn't treat customers like they are there to make your life miserable.

Was 55 minutes late getting the car back. Waited at the counter for 15 minutes waiting for the customer service to return. After she checked the car and finished the paperwork, it was an hour 35 overdue and I was charged 100 bucks for two hours overdue! The original rental was only 80 bucks. Something seriously wrong with their customer service. Could not get it rectified. Will not EVER rent avis again.

Worst rental experience …. Been in out of rentals without any problems . The lady who checked me in for the car was so rude and customer service was the worst ever . Didn’t answer any of my questions properly and was giving all standard reposes like a automated computer response ….. like I would like to ask Avis that’s how you train your employees . I asked if I can get an upgrade and she didn’t had Curtsy to even check and we went to lot to pick up our car and saw 4-5 cars on lot (she said that’s the literally car on out lot ) it’s funny they lie on your face like that. I would not recommend this location as they don’t even have common sense if someone calls you and says how are you ( you say good thanks how are you ) not juts how can I help you … worst rental location Be aware everyone out there

Worst car rental company EVER, I will never go back to them. First they gave me wrong address to their location went there and found out they moved from the address they gave. The person I spoke to at Sandman hotel gave me their new address took another taxi, I complained the lady who works there told me to call the website myself to ask them to change the address on their website because they didn't updated. Then she was going to charge me 350 dollars for down deposit from my credit card. I always rent from enterprise I will never go back to Avis again.. worst experience for my first time with them.

Terrible experience. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. My vehicle was double booked and i was not provided with another. The attendant was also very unprofessional texting on her personal phone and babysitting her child. After some persistence I was offered a voucher but she never followed through with her manager and i have not received it.

I have been using Avis since they were located at the Sandman in Red Deer, about 7 years now, and I have to say, this is by far the best rental agency I have ever used. Ron is amazing to deal with. He will go above and beyond to help you out. When I picked up my car the woman checking me out was rude, ignorant and seemed as if I was interrupting her day. She rushed me through the paper work, I asked why the estimated total was 600 dollars more than what I was suppose to pay, she wouldn’t answer me. She just said, “it’s just estimated” I didn’t have time to sit around and argue with her. When I dropped off, I was charged 1300 dollars on a 600 dollar rental! Because they said the car was really dirty, which I know it was not! And that there was a fee I agreed to, an insurance fee of some sorts. Which I also wasn’t asked about if I wanted to purchase it. I get extremely overwhelmed when people don’t answer my questions when I am doing these kinds of things. A tire popped as I was driving, it could have caused my family serious injury, I asked if I would be reimbursed for the cost of the tire since that was to no fault of my own, to which the woman replied “I doubt it…” I don’t recommend going here, the staff is rude and not friendly!

Seeing all these 1-star reviews, I should have read them first! I just had a real negative experience. And for this reason, they will never have my business. What a Crusty unfriendly and hostile girl at the desk. I had booked for a 1030 pick up and I waited, and waited, to have to call at 10:45 and then finally just before 11 she came back. I think it is time AVIS send in random undercover customers just to see the how unwelcoming and condescending her attitude is. Customer service is really not something she enjoys and I personally would not want to have that representing my business on the front lines.

How is it possible that the Edmonton branch rents a car to GDL 5 but the Red Deer branch does not? And when I ask the reason from the person working in the Red Deer branch, she says it is an order coming from the head office in Calgary and when I ask her to give me the head office phone number, she says she does not have that number! Can somebody translate what she says for me?! It is like we are from two different planets!!! I called Edmonton and Calgary branches again and they all rent cars to GDL 5. Only the Red Deer branch does not!! Our worst rental experience has been with this branch. NOT SATISFIED AT ALL!

I rented a vehicle through avis red deer, a couple days driving it I found an unmarked pill bottle with pills inside of the middle console. When opening the passenger door I noticed an open razor blade and cocaine spread out in the door cubby. When returning the vehicle I was told I could exchange the car but not an upgrade model and I needed to fill the gas on the old model or I would be charged. Thanks avis your doing great :) off to enterprize I go.

Avis itself seems to be a pretty good company to rent vehicles through. I have rented many in the past. Unfortunately this location’s owner is seriously lacking customer service. The list is soo long with the problems I have had with this guy, I won’t even get started. Good thing for the 1-800 customer service number that Avis has. I was able to get the money refunded that this con artist had tried to take from me. Stay away from Avis in Red Deer!! He had also told me that budget is down the road for next time. Thanks for the advise and will definately be using other rental companies in the future.

Had a bad experience here . I had rented my vehicle through Hot Wire ( I normally rent through discount which is the same price wise) . I went in to pre pay my rental and let them know that I would be slightly past my 5 pm pick up time that I had booked under. The lady told me I could not pre pay as it would change my drop off time . I said ok I will be a bit past and she said don't worry we are open till 6 . So I arrive at about 5:15/5;20 after trying to call my whole way down to let them know I would be there . The phone kept getting redirected to the call center . When I got there no on was there . On the counter is says sorry we missed you wit a number to call. It was the same number I had been calling. When I reached the call center they couldn't help me. I sat there waiting and the Hotel staff at the location we feeling bad for me and were trying to help me . Eventually someone had given me a card with managers number whom I called and he tried to tell me I wasn't booked . It wasn't until I told him that I had already been in and spoke with staff early that confirmed I was booked and my car was ready the he snarlingly agreed to come back . He did not apologize, and when I asked about my drop off time at 4:30 to be changed to this one he said "no that was my contract between Hotwire and I and I would be charged 27$/hour if I was late . When I arrived 4 days later to drop off 5:40pm guess what ???? No one was there again !!!! There was another customer there who had a similar experience to me . After calling the call center and talking to them they assured me that I would not receive any extra charges even though when I went in to check the manager had tried to check me in for 8 am the next day . Worst rental experience ever and I will not be renting there again .

I needed a rental for a day to go to Calgary amazing customer service and such a smooth transaction. Very please with the suv they lent me it drove super super nice and was pretty new still had the new smell???? I wouldn’t definitely use their service again if I ever need to you won’t be sorry you went with Avis
