CONSUMERS BEWARE! I am Silvana Barbato's tenant. First some clarification....'Rent It Furnished REALTY' is located at 1020 Mainland Street, VAN, BC. Then there is 'Rent It Furnished INC' located at 500 King St W, TOR, ON. Toronto is extension of Vancouver company. Vancouver is a fully licensed brokerage, Toronto is NOT. To the best of my knowledge Toronto is only a marketing company. There is also a New York location, 411 Lafayette St, NY. Toronto & New York share Toronto phone number. I reviewed Rent It Furnished website & decided to use services to acquire a fully furnished rental for 6 months in Toronto (2017). I submitted inquiry via website. A 'Leasing Specialist' contacted me 3 days later. She had a property in mind. From there it took a ridiculous 2 weeks to secure very same property. I was advised by property owner's realtor AFTER I took possession of rental that RIF property listing was inaccurate, also that her client had not really been interested in offering type of rental I was seeking. My requests were CLEAR & CONCISE. Why RIF would send a property that offered otherwise....is beyond me! So not only I as the TENANT had a bad experience with this company, so did the PROPERTY OWNER and her Realtor. Property Owner/Realtor had their own set of issues with RIF. As a result, no longer use RIF to market property. The entire process was a nightmare. From length of time, inefficiency, deplorable customer service, dishonesty, etc.... I was out of the country. I relied on accurate property listing/photos & trustworthy answers to questions. ONE WHOLE DAY wasted to sort out method of payment, regardless of the fact told more than once E-transfer was it. RIF website states "We work with many out-of-country clients". After payment debacle I find this hard to believe! They're the only rental company I've dealt with that do NOT accept credit cards. I had to ask for executed copy of lease to be compiled & sent to me in a single document. When finally arrived, just shy of a month later (& now occupying rental for 2 weeks), there was an extra page that was not included with original lease. Unprofessional! I contacted RIF owner (operates out of VAN, BC) via email detailing my experience. A week later she responded with a brief email containing an apology. Email....really?!?! How about picking up a phone! Stated she would address my points with Toronto Team. Also, informed me that it was very rare RIF received a complaint & "We pride ourselves in our business ethics and customer service". I was surprised she did not want to speak with me. I touched on this in reply as well informed her I had since read RIF reviews from up to a year ago that bring up some very same points addressed in complaint. Me personally....I would want all of the details. Especially what my employees were dishonest about. Leaves me to believe perhaps dishonesty is part of her business practice. If so, obviously not at all ethical! I found RIF owner email apology to be insulting (if it was in fact her I corresponded with). What the property owner, her realtor & I had to endure should NEVER of happened in the first place! To date there has been no further response. Shocker! Need I say more? Response to the owner.... Aug 10/17 Despite your best efforts and numerous attempts to clarify my concerns in private?!?! I contacted owner 2X and never heard back from her 2nd time around! Post reviews and a month and a half later (Aug 4/17) I receive a call from representative (unbeknownst to RIF owner) wanting to know "what happened?". Representative didn't know about email I sent to the owner. Not surprising RIF are unable to verify the facts posted in my reviews. Finally, the ludicrous email I received this evening from RIF was not appreciated. Take your best efforts and use them to ensure negative experiences don't happen to anyone else. See ya RIF!

As a professional and realtor (NOT WHAT RENTITFURNISHED is) I foolishly allowed this company to post MY listing on their website and accepted a lease from them. They are not licenced realtors in Ontario. They cannot show the listing, they don't write out the lease, they do not correct mistakes in the listings, they do not respond to any calls once the tenant lands in your lap, they do not deal with any deficiencies (not even the ones that are due to misinformation on their website. They try to charge you for anything they can dream up. 10% per month....cleaning fees, entry fees, fees for the privilege of doing business with them. And the best part....after tenant is in and contract is finally over.....they still have the listing up with wrong pictures, misinformation and a new available date (with NO LISTING OR CONTRACT!!!) Further, the invoice states their proper name as RentItFurnished Realty....and then people wonder how realtors get such a bad name for themselves...good god...

We had a really bad experience. Maybe it was very employee specific. We listed our condo with renitfurnished a few weeks back but never got any leads or any movement at all. Not even a single viewing. The listing services did mention Kijiji and Craig’s list advertising, even that wasn’t done. The employee who came and took the pictures was trying really hard to sell the property management services in an otherwise bad market for land lords without even understanding affordability and cash flow. Eventually we found our own tenant through our hard working realtor and have been in touch with rent it furnished to take down the listing. To our surprise there was no response from the listing specialist. We just came to know a few minutes back that the employee responsible for our listing left the company and didn’t even do a handover to anyone. Definitely not recommending this kind of a service. If somebody from rent it furnished is seeing this review. Please take down our listing!!! Am I glad I didn’t sign up for property management.

Oliver Guan in accounting is also very helpful ... keeping me up to date with monthly rental income and revenue/expense reports. Monthly revenue is steadily increasing which makes me happy and I am hoping that it reaches a yearly level where I can break even on the amortized investment I put into renos and yearly operating expenses for my property...maybe even run a profit. I live out of the country for part of the year....so having a management company that I can trust and count on is paramount for me. For six months, I have paid $1000 a month to Rent it Furnished for property management and marketing fees. $6000 total for the length of our contract + additional fees listed in the contract for them to not return emails, phone calls, not provide some of the services listed in our property management contract, and only meet with me to hear my concerns after I left a Google review (which appears to have been taken down now?). I am now seeking legal advice over recouping some of the fees I have paid them as they have not actually delivered on our contract, and I would advise that if you are considering them… run. Run in the opposite direction ASAP. They may palm you off saying that these issues are staffing issues and they’re reorganizing, but it doesn’t matter what team or department you’re trying to deal with, the incompetence and lack of service is across listing, property management, operations and management. I cannot express enough how much I regret using Rent it Furnished.

I chose to rent an apartment through rentitfurnished in Toronto. We signed a contract which included a cleaning fee, 1st and last months rent as well as a furniture deposit. We later found out this is illegal in Ontario but we’re given assurances would receive our deposit back if nothing was damaged. The apartment was filthy and I informed the company but they said it was the landlords responsibility and they would ask them to refund us. The landlord refused. We left the apartment in a better state than we received it but the toilet handle of the an old toilet needed to be replaced. The landlord refused to give our deposit back even though this clearly wear and tear and the responsibility of the owner. I’ve informed the company many times and was told someone would contact me. I’ve sent constant reminders but still haven’t been contacted. I rented the apartment through them but as soon as there is a problem, they’ve left me to fight with the landlord with no support or help. I’m unbelievably disappointed and would highly recommend using a company who cares about their clients.
