Good rates but horrible claims service. The agent I dealt with for a major claim was dishonest and had an “I messed up but there is nothing you can do about it attitude”. Best to have a lawyer go over their paperwork if you have insurance with them so in case of a claim then they can’t screw you.

The worst to get ahold of unless they want something. They send contract changes after the yearly renewal is completed.. Controling and most likley the gov has a hand in them.

I grew up on pei. Owned a home and had it insured through island mutual for 10 years. Now after 20 years being away, for no reason, 8 days before closing, will not give me insurance. Shame shame

I had a claim last september, just after annual renewal, from Dorian. I realize they were very busy and as a result extremely difficult to contact. I eventually had a return call From Blair Campbell, the general manager. I complained to him as the manager as to how claims were being handled and suggested he should take responsibility. I ended up offending him and the conversation ended. Now 10 months later my policy is not being renewed , as directed by Blair Campbell. My agent Bruce Simpson was not much help, as could be expected. He said he is an employee and I offended a manager during the claim process and he is refusing to renew the policy. I do apologize to Mr Campbell for my offending him during a stressful situation. I am looking to notify the directors for some feedback but am not finding any contact information. Does anyone know how to contact PEI mutual board of directors. Thanks, Ian Smith

It is next to impossible to get a hold of anyone. I've been waiting to hear back from them since September, and despite leaving a dozen messages, have still not received anything. They tell me "I'll call you back in 10 minutes" but then a week later they still haven't and I'm back on the phone trying to reach them for another month.

Absolutely terrible customer service. Their company representatives were very forward and indifferent with a "they win-you loose" attitude. Had been irritated from the start with their 3% "administration fee" charged for monthly pre-authorized billing. Got significantly more / better coverage from a national provider, for the same annual premium price (and no 3% "admin fee").
