I wasn't quite sure where to start when buying my first place. For example, did I want a house with a basement suite or a condo? Slade said it was important that I go see a place in person because it would start generating ideas about what I actually wanted. So Slade took the time to show me a house with a basement suite and then explained the pros and cons of this type of investment. Just like Slade said, seeing this first place allowed me to put into perspective the type of place I wanted. After about one week of thinking I called Slade and told him what I wanted in my first place. I wanted a cheap apartment. In addition, his properties are poorly managed (property manager impossible to get a hold of). Before you buy/rent a place in Saskatoon make sure it's not from Glade Properties. (He also has a little man complex that doesn't allow him to take criticism, so even if you're right, you're wrong).

I would NOT deal with this man in any type of business. Very scummy landlord. My girlfriend and I rented a house from him. Two weeks into renting the house, he threatened to evict us for not letting him park his pontoon boat on the property. There was no room to park his boat, as we rented the property for the ample parking. He then threatened to evict us. The next day he posted a "Notice of Enacting Reasonable Rule" to our door, stating that parking his boat on the property (without rent reduction) was a reasonable rule, and if we did not follow it we would be evicted. We replied via email to let him know we didn't agree with the rule and that he would have to contact the ORT to proceed with attempting to park his boat on the property. His response started with "I know this stuff like the back of my hand..." and proceeded to say that his advocate for landlords (Mark Zielke) will be in contact with us. A few days later an eviction notice was posted to our front door. To dispute the eviction, we had to compile evidence of the events and take it to the ORT during business hours (we had to take time off work). We then had to attend a hearing at the ORT to dispute the eviction, at which time Slade did not show up, but he sent Mark instead. After the hearing we received the decision, which stated that the entire situation be dismissed, and that Slade had no right to park his boat on the property and attempt to evict us. The unnecessary stress caused by this man was ridiculous. Little man syndrome indeed.
