WORST renting experience ever!
We rented a unit in Lumen South Pointe (100 Southview Crescent) in Winnipeg for a year. We spent $650 cleaning the whole place before we moved out. During the inspection they said everything was good and would contact us in a couple of days regarding the return of deposit.
However, we NEVER got the deposit back.
After two months I called Thorwin, and they told me they secretly did another inspection after we moved out, WITHOUT informing us. And they secretly decided to replace carpet of the WHOLE unit because the smell of our dog was too strong. They NEVER informed us about this. We wouldn't have known this if I didn't make the call.
This is really ridiculous. First, their accusation was not true at all. We had a dog, but we kept the place very clean. If there was a smell, they should have mentioned this during the first inspection when we were all present. Second, even if they decided to do another inspection, they should have informed us so that we could be present. Third, they should have informed us when they claimed our deposit. Unfortunately, instead of being professional, they decided to do everything in the dark. They probably thought they could get away with this because we were new immigrants that were moving out of the province, but they were wrong.
We have filed the tenant claim to Residential Tenancies Branch. I know this is a freaking long process and probably won't go anywhere, but we have to do what we got to do.
All in all, AVOID renting with Thorwin by all means unless you love troubles. You will thank me for this.
