When we first moved to Medicine Hat we tried to rent privately. That was an experience I would not recommend to anyone. We were directed to Jay and his colleagues and am I glad we were. Not only did they find exactly what we were looking for, but they found us a home. It's been such a good experience dealing with rent better property management, our home is in tip top shape and if there ever is a issue its delt with immediately. This is not what we are used to in previous rentals. I personally would recommend this company to anyone that's wants treated like a person and not a tenant.. Never had Rent Better for a Property Manager technically speaking, as our past landlord hired them halfway through a dispute we were having with Ray Baumann. As I mentioned to Yvonne when everything was settled, we have nothing negative to say regarding the agency, as she was very empathetic and could relate to our situation on a personal level. Although the initial impression did not go over very well, because of Yvonne, I would recommend Rent Better for handling your property or to rent from hands down.

Rent better was able to provide a seamless transition for our employees in terms of providing great rental properties. I was relocating from another city and was shown a home by Yvonne. The house looked great in pictures but was a dump with new paint. The house was crumbling from the steps up. There was dead bugs and weed in the basement , live bug in the bathroom on the top floor this was in early March. The backyard was full of dog poop and leaves chances are it was there since last fall. There was garbage in the bin that was laying down and it had such a foul smell. Underneath the outside stairs was all kinds of trash covered in leaves . The explanation was that the owners were the last to live there ????. Then I emailed and spoke with Nicole , it seemed every place on their website I wanted to view had an application or was rented. That was last week. They are all still up. Spoke with yvonne who was going to watch for my email over the weekend to show me a place Monday, turns out she didn't and only responded Monday when it was to late. Come to find out that Yvonne husband worked to get my Fiancee fired from Badlands Harley Davidson just because he didn't like him from the day he walked in. So she knew we probably wouldn't be there long because her husband has seniority.

If I could give this a zero I would. The rental unit I was living in at the time was so expensive for the state that it was in. I paid 1100 every month. The walls in the bathroom were peeling, the previous renters had cats and they caused so much damage that didn't get fixed before we moved in. The cabinets were damaged. When I brought this up to the loser that runs this joint he said he would talk to the owner and the owner refused to fix this place ... Asked for rent to be lowered and that didn't happen either. Not to mention my whole family was so sick for the whole year we lived in there. If I wasn't so desperate for a place to live at that time I would have NEVER rented that place. Also the amount they take off for damage you didn't do is ridiculous.

Nichole has been absolutely fantastic to work with, we were in a very tight spot with our original rental falling through at the last minute! Coming to Medicine Hat from BC, we were in an extreme challenge for our family. Nichole and Jay, were able to deliver a rental and get us moved in start to finish in 3 days! Not only saving us a large amount of cash, but a ton of stress was lifted from us. These guys deal with alot of people, and from what we could see, it was very professional, thorough and overall just an awesome experience! Rent Better gets 5 stars from us!

I would not recommend conducting business with this company under any circumstances. At first, it seemed perfect. I was moving to medicine hat for work, and my employer was going to pay for a furnished apartment, which are hard to find in this city. I contacted Rent Better, who showed me a the apartment I decided to rent. It was great, underground parking, fully furnished, nice clean building. However, they hadn't done their due diligence, and the building was for 30+ only. At the time I was 29, but Jay assured me that wouldn't be a problem. I moved in on June 15th. The problems started soon, I noticed that they hadn't taken my rent out for June, and that their online portal showed I was late with the rent. They didn't take the rent for June and July until August, regardless of how many times I asked them to. This was a problem, since my employer was paying my rent, and obviously required receipts of the rent being paid. However, that pales in comparison to the fact that I was given an eviction notice by the condo board in late July, for failing to be 30 or over. When I went to speak to Jay about this on 24 July, he immediately blamed the owner of the condo, rather than their company, even though it's up to the rental agency to ensure that the owner of the condo has indeed told the condo board someone is moving in. He assured me he would do his best to find something for me, and that worst coming to worst he would find me somewhere to hang my hat until I could find a permanent, furnished place to rent. That was the last I heard from him. He never found me another place to live, never contacted me to tell me he hadn't found somewhere, nothing. He refused to answer emails, texts, or phone calls. On 12 August I delivered a notice indicating I would be renting from someone else, and detailed the time that I would be at the condo to conduct a move-out. I had to take time out of my vacation with my family, and come back to Medicine Hat early to do the move-out, and Jay didn't show up. Apparently he was in a meeting. I've never been treated so poorly and with such little respect by a company in my life. Rent Better Property Management is a Division of Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate

I wouldn’t recommend this company to my worst enemy. I moved out of my rental and the cleaning was completed. Yvonne came in afterwards and claimed that an additional 7+ hours of cleaning was needed, along with a dump run. However, rent better was completely unaware that I was friends with the new tenant they had moving in to take my place. Upon talking to my friend, I discovered that Rent Better did no additional cleaning whatsoever, and the “dump run” Yvonne insisted on charging $60 for consisted of the new tenant walking a lawn chair five feet to the dumpster in the back alley. Protect your investments and stay away from these people

I do not reccomend renting from this company at all. We were promised the unit would be cleaned upon moving in and it was not yet they claim it was in "excellent" condition. There was an inch of dirt on everything. No walk through was signed or done and upon move out they charged us for things they should have fixed and didnt and for things that were broken/busted when we moved in. They refused to speak to us on a professional level and the owner/property manager refused to call us directly even though we requested them to do so on many levels. Moving in is an ok experience,moving out however they will charge you for everything they can including things that you are not liable for. Have heard the same from multiple other renters. Stay away from this company.
