I recently sold my home with Purplebricks and we have been using them on the buying side for the past year as we hunt for our next home. Both have been excellent experiences! SELLING: My experience selling with Purplebricks was very smooth and I felt supported the entire time. In talking with others, a common misconception I found is that listing through Purplebricks meant you were listing “DIY” and had no agent support in listing or handling offers—that is not the case at all. Instead, you have agents who are specialized in one aspect of each part of the selling process. You have one agent dedicated to listing and managing showings (Cory was amazing!), a support team to handle inquiries, and one agent dedicated to receiving and negotiating offers (Elaine was also a pleasure to work with). I also found that their tools for managing the process were far superior to what a lot of realtors use. You are kept in the loop on all showings via automated texts, and can approve or deny. All realtors are auto emailed for feedback after their showing, and that feedback is passed along to you. Signing offers and documentation are all done via docusign. Very efficient and you always have your agents there to answer any questions along the way! Keep in mind, there are other factors to consider—this might not be the right way to sell for every home or market. If I had a very expensive home, a condo, or if the selling market was very cold, I might consider listing with a realtor. BUYING: I really cannot say enough great things about our buying agent, Ash Single. He’s been so amazing to work with, and such a great resource to have while evaluating potential homes. Almost immediately, he picks up things we would have never noticed or considered in a home. The value he provides really can’t be overstated! Yes, you get up to $2,000 back by using Purplebricks to buy your home but that’s really just a bonus to us—I would use Ash as our realtor even if that was not offered!

We'd been quoted upwards of 6% commission on selling our house, and frankly, it's not that big a deal unless your home is incredibly expensive. Clean your home (not stage it), keep everything neat and tidy and expect people to look in your closets/cupboards etc. YOU control when people come in and if you want an open house, and for all that, even with them dealing with offers, you're only putting up a fraction of the inflated commission realtors think they deserve. I HIGHLY recommend you selling your own home, and this is the company to use!

I was selling a house with purple bricks in Manitoba. There was so many issues it is not even funny. To start, Bill Young who came to take the photos, was fairly rude, he was in such a rush to leave that the photos did not turn out as good as they should of. After some viewings, the buyers agents would email me with follow up questions etc to which i responded via email. I would then find out quite a while later that my responses were never forwarded on to the buyers agent. This happened I think 3-5 times. Very frustrating, after a few weeks I started just reaching out to the buyers agent personally. The final straw was when a showing was cancelled last minute by purple bricks "because you did not confirm your availability." Which I did and even received confirmation from purple bricks before hand for that showing. Of course I received the cancellation text from them at the same time they closed, so could not call and speak to anyone to clear things up. They are impossible to get a hold of and are not helpful at all. I tried to save a few grand by using purple bricks and paid dearly for it by my house sitting on the market for a long time and has not sold. Since you have to pay purple bricks upfront, they do not care or make any effort after they get your money. USE A REAL REALTOR, IT IS WORTH THE EXTRA MONEY. (did i mention you have to sign a 4 month contact with Purple Bricks so you cannot fire them and get a real agent once you realize how bad they are.) It is a good business model in theory, but they cannot execute.

If you want to deal with a call centre that basically does nothing they say they will do and nothing like the private company they bought out Comfree and charge for all kinds of services.After many screw ups they refunded my money less the money paid for pictures proving they don't know what they are doing or they wouldn't have refunded my money.*****they just responsed that they refunded me my money to keep me happy,more propaganda.How about over 50 calls to the call center and not being on MLS for over 2 months and when they did they only showed pictures of the yard not of the inside of the house ,who is looking at what the final product looks like? Answer NOBODY.ruined a lot of prime time listing,so I'm not that happy,Send me the pictures I paid for.
