TERRIBLE, actually. Peka made 2 tempts to raise the rent on us WITHOUT the home-owners request,k or approval BUT b/c we asked the home-owner about the "surprise increase" (AND of course JUST as Peka wanted us to sign a renewal for another year!!) The owner quickly called Peka and told them NOT to raise the rent. Peka ALSO entered our rental home WITHOUT giving us proper notice AND without our knowledge... Until I saw the business card they left on the counter. This is of course a violation of the tennant/landlord act BUT what can you do... Peka IS a monopoly in Canmore and they SURE behave that way too. They CONSTANTLY sent us letters about watering the lawn, however (and more importantly) the home OWNER didn't want town water wasted on "dead earth". We otherwise kept the property immaculate. I also dealt with the "ways of Peka" a dozen years earlier, and they were terrible then too... So in THIS instance: Nothing gets better with time... The owner sold the home we had been renting for 5 years, so we left town... Dealing with Peka WITHOUT the advantage of the great home-owner we had, isn't worth a single minute of ANY renters life.... And OF the two homes I've owned, I'd NEVER put them into a rental pool with Peka. So they fail hard on both sides of the coin.
The team at PEKA, and I do mean team, has been looking after my property in Canmore since 2016. Having experience with property managers in Nova Scotia, Ontario and Alberta, PEKA is far and away the class of the group. They are professional, courteous, and efficient. Above all, they do what they say and go out of their way to do it. If you are in this market and have had the good fortune to stumble upon this review - look no further. My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of renting from PEKA for a little over a year here in Canmore. Not only was the management company very professional, they were very prompt and clear with their communication efforts to us regarding moving in, lease agreements, inspections, repairs, and move out arrangements. We asked for various repairs throughout our time there and they promptly sent competent workers to fix these issues without headache. PEKA was particularly accommodating when it came to talking to the owner regarding an extension on our lease for a few additional months so we could stay in the Bow Valley for the summer. Edit: PEKA just called my landlord and threatened to fine us for trying to contact them and/or this review. Not sure how PEKA has a high rating. I live in one of their condos and our neighbors and I are becoming increasingly frustrated with PEKA. The bike room is constantly being broken into and bikes stolen. The elevator is down more often than not. My unit hasn't had air conditioning for weeks. I've just left my fourth voice mail with PEKA and I still haven't received a call back. The management at our condo has been non-existent since PEKA took over.
After renting a beautiful home through PEKA Property Management Ltd. for almost 3 years I ran into a few challenges due to a severe injury which required an unexpected relocation to Calgary. Mark Walker addressed all concerns and went above and beyond to accommodate and resolve the situation. He personally took the time out of his busy schedule to ensure a smooth move out and was very understanding of our situation. If it weren't for the injury, I would certainly continue renting through PEKA. Mark works hard to ensure that both renters and home owners are well cared for. He has always been very kind and caring whenever we crossed paths. Considering PEKA has become such a large company, he seems to really get to know his clients. We have dealt with PEKA Management for almost four years, and have been extremely happy with their service. When we first arrived in the Bow Valley, they had several places for us to view, and worked with our schedule when coming from out of town. Once here, we've moved again, and they have always worked with our family to ensure our moves were accommodated around our work and school schedules. PEKA has worked very hard on our family's behalf to situate us in great locations. We've found them to be very professional to deal with, and any time we had questions or concerns they dealt with it promptly. We would recommend them without hesitation.

I wouldn't trust Doug Snider to manage 5 dog houses in a row, never mind a multi unit condo complex. This company's communication is deplorable, and make any process infinitely more complicated and costly than dealing with it yourself. I recently experienced a water leak in my unit that caused damage in the unit below. Doug and his team were quick to call in a (very expensive) restoration team to set up fans and turn off the water, but after that I heard nothing from them regarding the process, cost, etc. despite emailing their office several times to ask for information. They were confused and never got back to me with any information UNTIL I got a bill 6 weeks later by snail mail for $1800 which included an unexplained 12 hours of labor done. Turns out, they had been making decisions on my behalf with no communication or consent whatsoever, and simply sent me the bill, giving me about a week to pay. Doug takes days to answer simple emails and ignores requests for information. He admitted at our condo AGM to having trouble managing his email inbox. He is rude and condescending, and makes costly decisions outside of his agency. He makes no effort to keep the owner up to date on what's going on whether that means picking up the phone or sending an email update. He does not own up to his mistakes, does not apologize, and absolutely does not make it right for the customer. My experience with Doug has been nothing less than infuriating, and if I had a choice I would never work with him or this company again. We're about 8 weeks after the incident and I am still waiting for information I have requested over and over again. Not once has he picked up the phone after I requested a call 3 times.
The communication standard at PEKA is awful. Upon move-in and move-out I found myself having to follow up with their employees several times (often 3-4 times) for assistance answering my questions and to confirm move-in / move-out inspection times. Bounced around multiple people within the organization, no out of office contact information. This just causes added stress and frustration to an already stressful time. Overall, pretty poor customer service.
We booked a short term (1 month) house rental in Canmore with PEKA. The contract seems to be aimed more at multi-month rentals, so we had a ton of questions that were patiently answered by Ray. The property we rented was awesome. We noticed a few regular maintenance items when we got into the house that Ray responded quickly on. We’ll book with PEKA again next time we need some time in Canmore!
Peace-of-mind is what PEKA delivers for us as a property management company. Our property manager (Dave) treats our condo as if it were his own. He effectively markets our condo, carefully screens tenants, involves us in their selection and ensures that they follow our bylaws as well as PEKA's own stringent lease agreement. The trades that PEKA hires for repairs and improvements are excellent, and their work is well-supervised. As a result, our condo is in excellent condition even though we've had several tenants over the years. Dave's support staff are as responsive and committed, making it easy to communicate with our tenants. Finally, monthly account statements are clear and accurate. Such a consistent high level of service by the entire rental term, and the low employee turnover, clearly demonstrates that this is an exceptionally well-managed company.
International travelers beware. PEKA charged a $4000 cancellation fee for a lease when I couldn't get to the property due to COVID border closure. Even the Canadian government was advising against travel. Last year, they worked with me to reschedule the lease for this year. This year I was told that the million dollar home owner needed to make up for last year's losses. During the pandemic, we never expected any cancellation fees imposed. With COVID variants, border closures may be a regular event in Canada. If you book with PEKA, be sure to have your attorney review the lease first or go with a provider that has a more flexible COVID cancellation policy. Shame on you. We were good customers and we would have rented yearly.
PEKA has managed three properties for us over the past 20years. They are completely on top of everything, all the time. Ask them a question, ask them to do an inspection, ask them to recommend a trade, ask them for an opinion, ask them to let allow a trade access to the property (with tenant approval)... they get back to you almost instantly AND with information that is on point. In addition, we've never had a tenant issue that they have not stick handled. They have simplified the process of owning revenue property, especially from out of town. Can't recommend them enough!

We rented a home that was managed by PEKA and found them to be quick in responding to any concerns we had and always took our concerns seriously. They are upfront about their expectations as they shared cleaning and maintenance information with us when we moved in. Mark was amazing to deal with he always responded quickly and treated us with kindness and respect. We had no issues getting our damage deposit back but we did clean very, very thoroughly following Peka’s cleaning list.

Highly recommend! Peka has many properties across the bow valley which is amazing as finding a rental unit in banff/canmore can be hard at times. Peka makes that easy. Never had any issues from move in to move out. Always there when we needed help. Especially our contact Tonia, she was amazing to work with and was always happy to help in any way!
PEKA has managed our condo for the past 20 years. We have been pleased with their performance, arranging for renters and helping with recommendations when appliances needed to be replaced. All tenants have been wonderful. At the end of October, 2020, the renter left the condo, giving us the chance to do some renovations. Ashley, from PEKA, has been fabulous. She has arranged quotes for flooring, painting and plumbing, going the extra mile in response to all of our questions. Although not a designer, Ashley has been so helpful with various suggestions that will enhance our unit. We could never have managed the renovations without Ashley's help. She has excelled in every way!

I just like to say thank you to Peka Management and specially to Kelly Puls. This was on the October 9 it was where the heavy snow fell and I was getting out of the garage way unfortunately my tires were I guess not good enough to climb that garage way up the hill and started back and I had a scratch on my van. I called Peka Management and spoke to Kelly this company took over I think I like a month ago. I explained the situation to Kelly in regards to I was not able to get out of the garage way and I will park my van outside once I get out in the snow gets cleared. The snow removal team came around 9am and I supposed to leave work at 7am so I couldn't make it to work. Next day I parked my van outside in the parking everything was good and the second day I parked it also just to make sure that the snow has been absolutely cleared so I can go into the garage and come out. I see your ticket on my windshield wiper. I was very surprised that I did already call the management company in regards to my situation. So I called Kelly and Kelly was very kind enough and nice enough to take care of it and talk to the management company. After 25 days a gentleman approaches me I was in the parking waiting for my wife to come downstairs and this gentleman said that he is from the board member and he said that he has a ticket for me I said I did talked to the management company but he insisted no you threw the ticket on the ground I said there's no way I through the ticket on the ground because I don't know if there is another ticket in my Van. The gentleman was saying he was from the one of the board member of the condo and he was very rude and he was very threatening I don't know why he said that he called the city to give the ticket I said okay but you are not the security guard over here. Next day I called Kelly and talk to her about the situation what happened last night with me so she said she'll talk to her boss and talk to the gentleman I said okay I appreciate that very much. Kelly and PEKA management resolve my issue that was important to me I've been living over here for 6 years in this condo I never had an issue. But only I can say is that I'm glad that PEKA management is our facilitator of this condos and I'm happy with their professional team.

My friends is having really bad experience with PEKA. They do not have google account, so I'm writing for them. My friends are very sad for bad experience with PEKA. PEKA ignored their application for a month and my friends. My friends had to contact them again for another rent. They are being very unkind and unhelpful. Both of my friends are working professionally, good reference, no bankrupt. Hopefully, PEKA is not going to ignore peoples' application.

I am a tenant in one of the buildings managed by PEKA. Usually when I call I have to speak to Roxanne who is incredibly rude. I try to avoid talking to her whenever possible, so last week when I called, I spoke to the Calgary receptionist Caitlin. She was beyond helpful and even though she didn't know the answers and I had to be put through to Roxanne anyways, I really enjoyed speaking to someone who is polite and professional. Huge difference in personalities. Thank you Caitlin, I'm giving you 5 stars. Maybe you can help train Roxanne on basic niceties and kindness.

I am so grateful to have PEKA as our property managers again. When we first bought in this condo, I dealt with Becki. She was lovely. Then our Board switched management companies for a short time. WORST MISTAKE EVER!! Fortunately our new Board fixed the mistake and we're back with PEKA. Becki is still as amazing as ever. We've had some large projects on the go this year and she provides excellent updates. Today she responded to my questions within minutes. Super stellar service to say the least.
We are in the process of selling our vacation property as the owners in the building are very intense. It's just not for us anymore. Since PEKA has been involved, the overall management of the property has improved. Becki in particular has been exceptional to work with. Recently my wife and I ran into her at a local business barbeque and she was polite and friendly the entire time we sat by her. I don't know if she recognized us or not, but it just goes to show she is kind and professional in and out of the office. If we buy in Canmore again, we will want it to be in a building that is managed by her.

Kudos to Cindy and Peka. They manage my building and were quick to assist when I reported an issue and had it fixed within days. I needed their after hours service for a water leak on Sunday and Mark had a plumber at my door within the hour who fixed the issue and they had my drywall and paint redone the next day. As a condo owner fast service for building emergencies such as leaks is important to me.
Had a great experience with Tonia Medina while looking for residences in Canmore! She was incredibly knowledgeable about the property and was a very friendly person to deal with. Would love to work with her again, regardless of finding the right place for us or not. I’d say give that girl a raise!

All through Covid, PEKA has been quick to communicate and seem to be completely on top of the situation. I especially enjoy the peka person assigned to our building. Her name is Becki and she really knows her stuff. She's an asset to our building for sure.
My experience with Peka started out negatively. I was not aware the building I was renting in didn't permit full time rentals. Obviously I was not impressed since it meant finding a new place to live. I was angry and wanted to yell at someone and unfortunately it was Becky who answered the phone. All through my yelling (sorry about that again), she remained calm and composed. Becky was able to give me suggestions on how to deal with my landlord, put me in touch with the peka rental department and just listened. not many people can sit there and be degraded and not get upset. I now know she was only doing her job and it wasn't actually pekas fault. Thank you for helping me even though I was awful to you
As part of my job, I deal with a lot of property management companies. When I first started calling PEKA, all I would get is voicemail after voicemail. No return calls. It was extremely frustrating. Caitlin, the lady answering the phones was phenomenal. She went above and beyond trying to find someone that could help me. I eventually got put through to Becky, who doesn't actually work with the property I was inquiring about, but managed to help me nonetheless. Huge shout out to them. To the property manager and her assistant who did not answer my calls or return the messages, please take lessons on how customer service is supposed to work as you seem to be lacking in those areas.

When I initially heard that the owners of my place were looking at having PEKA take over the property management, I was reluctant of the experience we would have. Admittedly I listened to a couple of peoples experience in the community and formed a negative opinion...I was wrong! The experience was wonderful. We had issues with our garage, our eve-troughs, our kitchen ceiling along with a few other small issues. Each time we were treated in a professional and timely manner. PEKA continued to be respectful of our property and work around our schedules. Since 2007 I've rented two beautiful condos through PEKA, and I've always been extremely satisfied with their services. They are very organized and efficient. I've always received prompt & professional assistance with any concerns throughout the years. This past July, Mark Walker helped me immensely during my move-out inspection. He was literally helping me clean fan covers that I couldn't reach due to an injured shoulder lol. On Saturday, September 25th, I noticed a pool of water in our parkade at Creekstone coming from a leak in an overhead water line. I own several units in a building managed by PEKA. While Gibson is the property manager, I always deal with Becky. Every time I call or email, I get a prompt response. The slogan "success through service" is certainly true when dealing with them, Becky in particular. I've had to deal with other property management companies with less than impressive results. I can honestly say that if I were in the market to buy another condominium in Canmore, I would want it to be in a building managed by PEKA as they are clearly at the top of their game and provide outstanding service.
We signed a one year lease but due to unforeseen circumstances had to vacate early with very limited notice. Mark and his team were extremely responsive and within 48 hours had prospective tenants. This was a tremendous relief! Moreover, during our tenancy we were supported with any issues; from a new TV being replaced to a bathroom fan or even a lightbulb. Great service from great people, and we will miss our beautiful, albeit temporary home in Canmore.

I leave a set of rims and tires out back as I do any items that are still useful to someone (along with many other tenants who leave furniture and other items in the back)and after a couple of days of no one taking them, I put up a kijiji add to draw attention to someone less fortunate who could use them. Peka decides to take action WITHOUT notifying the owner of my unit n'or myself, when they know it was my tires and rims because they sent photo's of my car in the e-mail along with the old tires in the back, they do NOT contact us to warn us this was an issue, but instead hire some contractor and pay him $310 to take away my tires????? Coincidentally on the same day I have a gentleman in need on his way to pick them up no less. Then they e-mail the owner of my unit a month later telling him to foot the $310 bill??? If I wanted to dispose the tires and rims, I could have done that myself at $12.50 per tire at any tire shop in the city! Yet another instance of total incompetence of management in this company. How are you even still in business?
I finally got a call back. Changing my review now because overall this is a good company with owners who appear to genuinely care about the service provided and who can't be faulted because one of the employees don't offer the best representation.
PEKA has been exceptional to work with over the last decade. Becki is great at keeping my wife and I updated with the happenings around the building. Over the last 2 years, we've had 2 water leaks in our condo and both times the communication was on par. Excellent service.

We own and reside in a condo in Canmore. It has been plagued with log issues over the years and it feels like there is always some sort of replacement going on. All through it though, Becki continues to provide updates and generally keeps owners informed. It can't be easy doing what they do at PEKA and I just wanted to say thank you to both Becki and Gibson. I have no idea how they manage to stay calm through the abuse and overall hateful comments they receive from our neighbours. I know I'd be telling some of these people where to stick it. Good on you guys for always keeping it professional. Just goes to show you both have awesome work ethics.
As a first time renter in Canmore, I really didn't know what to expect. Mark and the PEKA staff have been amazing! Very quick to respond and provide help when needed. They sure know what they are doing!!
Great staff that are incredibly helpful, since renting from PEKA I have noticed a much more attentive process in regards to the upkeep of the house we rent. The fire place wasn't working, so a tech was sent in and fixed the issue. The deck was falling apart, so a company was hired to repair the deck. As this is just upkeep on the house we were never charged and I can definitely say other places I've rented from would not keep their properties up to the same standard.

We work with Becki quite a bit. We had a nasty back up in our unit and unfortunately it was not noticed until it leaked into the unit below ours. Becki provided routine updates and pictures. We never had to follow up or ask questions because she kept us completely informed. At the end, she followed up to confirm all repairs were done to our satisfaction. We really hope the management at PEKA realize what a gem they have!
I have been trying to get in touch with someone at peka for the last month. I repeatedly leave messages for cindy and allison and nobody ever calls back. apparently since my landlord hasn't registered my lease with them, my concerns are not important. I recently saw cindy walking around the building with workman. sounds like she has given her notice and doesn't actually care. nice professionalism right there. Now I know why I cant get a response back from her. no idea why her assistant doesn't call back though. maybe she quit to.

PEKA has been managing my long-term rental property in Canmore for about two and a half years now. They have always provided great service, advice, and care for my property. I recently had to replace a washer and dryer in my rental unit and I was working with Tonia and Jess from PEKA. Tonia was helpful in identifying replacement options when the old washing machine could not be repaired. Jess stepped in for Tonia when she went on vacation and Jess was awesome to work with! She met me at the property to take measurements for the new washing machine. A week later, Jess was present at time of delivery to ensure nothing got damage and installation was successful. I had some specific instructions for the installation and Jess ensured everything was taken care of as I request. Both Jess and Tonia were very professional in their correspondence with me and quick to reply to my emails. I'm happy to be working with PEKA!
Stephanie Franklin has been a real gem to deal with regarding the vacation property check program. She is prompt, friendly, on the ball, and always a pleasure to deal with. I know I don't have to worry when PEKA is doing our property checks. Super service! I never hesitate to recommend them to others.
So there has been a lot of changes with my building in the last 6 months. And of course covid isn't helping since I'm not getting any revenue. I called PEKA to talk about the changes and get information on why I still have to pay condo fees when nobody is renting my unit. I mean seriously. banks are giving a break, why can't we have one on condo fees too?! I was put through to Becky. She was extremely patient and explained what was going on with the changes in my building and why deferring condo fees is not possible. I guess it makes sense that we still have to pay for electricity and insurance. Becky spent probably 45 minutes walking me through everything and now I have a better understanding of it all which makes a huge difference! Thanks again for taking the time to help me.

PEKA has been a very disappointing property manager with rude and inconsiderate employees. Canmore is a wonderful place but corporations like this who know they have a large majority (almost monopoly) of the share of their industry let the community down with their overbearing, aggressive, fear based tactics. If you have any thoughts of finding a professional property management company - our family and the friends we know would suggest against PEKA. In our specific encounter and talking to friends PEKA is too comfortable with their current position and is not providing the attention to detail and professional service it should.
