(Translated) Good timing to comment, we have just returned from bear hunting at Domaine Desmarais. I fully agree with Mr Breton's comments. There is much too much hunting pressure. We do not sit 50 hunters in a season on only 15 sites and think that we are going to have a respectable success rate. It certainly pays off in the short term for the outfitter, but no respect for the hunters who show up there or for the bear herd. Prior to our arrival, only 7 bears had been shot out of about 40 hunters. We can speak of luck, but it is half as good as the provincial average and far from the expected success rate in outfitting, more than 50%. Nothing wrong with the guide, he does a great job and makes every effort but cannot do the impossible. We enjoyed it very much. However, we were extremely lucky. My partner and I pulled the two biggest bears of the season (193 and 240 pounds), but we know we were just lucky by the numbers. We won the lottery as one of the outfitter's comments says, but we actually won the lottery once in a lifetime ???? .... As a bonus, the fishing was miserable for all the groups present (we caught a trout in three days, result in the average of the moment ...). Very clean chalets and super warm welcome, nothing to complain about on this side. But I do not intend to set foot there again for bear hunting, we will go to a place where the number of hunters is controlled and we feel respect from the outfitter. (Original) Bon timing pour commenter, nous revenons justement de la chasse à l'ours au Domaine Desmarais. Je rejoins entièrement les commentaires de M.Breton. Il y a une pression de chasse beaucoup trop élevée. On ne fait pas asseoir 50 chasseurs en une saison sur seulement 15 sites et penser qu'on va avoir un taux de succès respectable. C'est certainement payant à court terme pour le pourvoyeur mais aucun respect pour les chasseurs qui s'y présentent ou pour le cheptel d'ours. Avant notre arrivée, seulement 7 ours avaient été abattus sur environ 40 chasseurs. On a beau parler de chance, mais c'est deux fois moins bon que la moyenne provinciale et bien loin d'un taux de succès espéré en pourvoirie, soit plus de 50%. Rien à reprocher au guide, il fait un excellent travail et fait tous les efforts, mais ne peut faire l'impossible. Nous l'avons beaucoup apprécié. Pourtant, on a été extrêmement chanceux. Mon conjoint et moi avons tiré les deux plus gros ours de la saison (193 et 240 livres), mais nous sommes conscients que l'on a été simplement chanceux si on se fie aux chiffres. On a gagné à la loterie comme dit un des commentaires du pourvoyeur, mais justement, on gagne une fois à la loterie dans une vie ????.... En prime la pêche a été misérable pour tous les groupes présents ( on a capturé une truite en trois jours, résultat dans la moyenne du moment...). Chalets très propres et super bon accueil, rien à redire de ce côté. Mais je ne compte pas remettre les pieds là-bas pour la chasse à l'ours, on ira dans un endroit où le nombre de chasseurs est encadré et qu'on sent un respect du pourvoyeur.

We liked: the superior quality of the accommodation (compare to other outfitter where we went), the superb site with activities "other than fishing" for children, and the quality of the road in general (I was in honda civic and no problem to go to the outfitter or nearby lakes that were assigned). We did not like: NO BREAK on 4 of the 5 lakes: Lake Claude (6 fishermen = 0 bite), Lake Carmel (6 fishermen, 2 different days = 0 bite), Lake Paul (2 fishermen = 0 bite) and Lake Vignerod (6 fishermen, 2 different days = 0 bite). 0 bite on 4 different lakes at different times of the day over 3 days, never seen for us in an outfitter (including some in our group who fish several times a summer for 30+ years)! We went fishing at different times of the day (at dawn from 6am, at dusk, in the middle of the day) over 3 days, with different spoons / lures, etc., nothing to do. The other fishermen we met on our lakes that weekend all had similar experiences. In total, we took 14 speckles to 10 people over 3 days, all taken at Lake Albert (small family super seeded lake according to the staff): 13 small (between 7-10 inches) and 1 of 12.5 inches. Conclusion: We spent a beautiful weekend with family on a beautiful site despite a missed appointment with the fish. This was our first experience at the outfitter and we thought that it was going to become an annual meeting especially by reading the compliments but we have remained so hungry on the fishing side that some of us hesitate or do not want to go back there. On a aimé : la qualité supérieure de l’hébergement (comparer à d’autres pourvoiries où nous sommes allés), le site superbe avec les activités « autres que la pêche » pour les enfants, et la qualité de la route dans l’ensemble (j’étais en honda civic et pas de problème pour se rendre à la pourvoirie ou aux lacs proches qu’on nous a assignés). On n’a pas aimé : AUCUNE MORSURE sur 4 des 5 lacs : lac Claude (6 pêcheurs = 0 morsure), lac Carmel (6 pêcheurs, 2 jours différents = 0 morsure), lac Paul (2 pêcheurs = 0 morsure) et lac Vignerod (6 pêcheurs, 2 jours différents = 0 morsure). 0 morsure sur 4 lacs différents à divers moments de la journée sur 3 jours, du jamais vu pour nous dans une pourvoirie (y compris pour certains dans notre groupe qui pêchent plusieurs fois par été depuis 30+ années)! On est sorti pêcher à divers moments de la journée (à l’aube dès 6h, à la brunante, en pleine journée) sur 3 jours, avec différentes cuillers/leurres, etc, rien à faire. Les autres pêcheurs rencontrés sur nos lacs cette fin de semaine-là avaient tous une expérience similaire. Au total, on a pris 14 mouchetées à 10 personnes sur 3 jours, toutes prises au Lac Albert (petit lac familial hyper ensemencé selon les dires du personnel): 13 petites (entre 7-10 pouces) et 1 de 12.5 pouces. Conclusion : On a passé une très belle fin de semaine en famille sur un site superbe malgré un rendez-vous manqué avec le poisson. C’était notre 1ère expérience à la pourvoirie et on pensait que ç’a allait devenir un rendez-vous annuel surtout en lisant les commentaires élogieux mais on est tellement resté sur notre faim côté pêche que certains d’entre nous hésitent ou ne veulent pas y retourner.

Beautiful atmosphere and games for children 15 minutes by mountain bike. Beautiful mountain bike trail on the 40 towards Lachute ... much less beautiful trail on the St-Michel des Saints side. Super nice outfitter staff. We had a little water problem and we could fix it in the next hour. Depaneur on site. My mother and her partner rented one of their trailers ... excellent. All are very clean and well maintained. Me, my wife and kids (4 & 5) will be going back for sure. (Original) Tres belle semaine. Pris notre quotas de truite en 6 heures de peche total. Tres beau chalet avec notre propre lac privé. Nous étions au chalet "le marthe" en site éloigner. Belle ambiance et jeux pour les enfants a 15 min de vtt. Belle piste de vtt sur la 40 direction lachute... piste beaucoup moins belle coté st-michel des saints. Staff de la pourvoirie super gentils. On a eu un petit probleme deau et pouff régler dans l'heure suivante. Depaneur sur place. Ma mėre et son conjoint ont louer une de leur roulotte... excellent. Tous est tres propre et bien entretenue. Moi, ma femme et mes enfants (4 et 5 ans) y retourneront pour sur.

Compréhensible pour ces pauvres employés quand la pourvoirie est pleine et que PERSONNE n'attrape de poisson et que tout le monde s'en plaint... Malgré la publicité, le doré et le brochet sont sur une seule rivière, au fond de la pourvoirie, s'y rendre est une expédition pour char d'assaut. D'ailleurs la plupart des chemins sont pour 4X4 ou Quads. Autre publicité trompeuse... Au total 68 heures de pêche réparties sur 6 pêcheurs pour un total de 7 poissons, dont 3 de moins de 225 grammes (1/2 livre). En fait, les lacs sont vides au point où malgré un oeil averti, nous n'avons aperçu aucun méné, aucune sangsue et que certains lacs n'ont pas de couple de plongeurs huard... Une visite d'un membre de la famille il y a 12 ans avait fini par le même désastre de pêche. Oui mais la météo ?!? Nous avons évoqué cette option. À notre retour nous avons questionné les nombreux pêcheurs au pont payant de rivière-aux-rats. Tous avaient pris le quota dans les pourvoiries environnantes. Tous. Donc une pourvoirie mal ensemencée et dégradée. À éviter. NOTE : Nous avons laissé notre numéro au patron pour un suivi sur plainte de service. Et avons attendu une semaine. La direction n'a pas jugé bon de nous rappeler. Désolant.
