I recently listed and sold a house through One Percent Realty – having previously sold a house with a conventional realty brokerage at the usual 5% fee. Karen Yurkiw had my house sold within 3 weeks of listing and was more involved in this sale than the realtor who sold my previous house which was sold through a “cooperating brokerage”. She is knowledgeable of the market (as you would expect), and the paperwork was completed without problems. Considering the actual amount of paperwork required in a typical real estate transaction, I believe that One Percent Realty’s fees are VERY reasonable. For Canadian home-owners to consistently and willingly pay realtors 4-5% of the hard earned equity of their homes for this service is beyond my comprehension. To add insult to it all, we then have to pay the government HST on their services. On a sale of a $645,000 home my savings with One Percent were over $27000! The sooner the public acts to bring an end to this long-standing monopoly that “traditional realtors” have had for so many years the better. Thanks Karen and One Percent Realty.
