Derek is THE BEST! I was in the market for a condo in 2011 and did not have a realtor. I was not in a huge hurry to move and really just wanted to find the perfect place. Driving around downtown Edmonton one day, just by sheer luck I saw Derek's name on a sign outside one of the condos I was interested in. I gave him a call that Saturday afternoon to book an appointment sometime during the week. I hadn't planned on looking at places that day as I figured that it was too short on notice. Derek said it would be no trouble to take me to a few places that day and he made downtown from the Northside in under half an hour. I was blown away by the level of customer service and enthusiasm. This was my first home purchase and I was completely unprepared in regards to what to look for, what to ask etc, all I knew was my price range. On top of that I had a number of requests and was pretty particular about exactly what I wanted. Derek showed my father and I at least 50 places, and he was patient and enthusiastic every step of the way. I never felt pressured. Derek made some wonderful suggestions and I know he was totally looking out for my best interest. One weekend I had a stack of places I wanted to look at and after showing them to him he advised against two of the places as there were some reserve fund issues and the like. There was one place I almost decided on, and Derek could tell I had a few hesitations. It wasn't perfect. He told me to hang in there and that he was certain we could find exactly what I was looking for. It took almost four months of searching for me to finally say YES! But it was EVERYTHING I WANTED!!! The place I ended up buying was not one that I picked out searching the neighbourhoods or MLS, but rather a place that he found for me. It was PERFECT!!! He definitely knows his way inside and out of the condos in Edmonton. He was such a great asset. He was attentive, asked the right questions, was forthright, and got to know exactly what I was looking for and delivered. About a year later I decided to move to Calgary and ended up renting out the condo I purchased. Even a year later, I called Derek up and asked him for advice on the going rent prices in the area, contracts, and everything I needed to know about being a new landlord. Yet again, Derek was very helpful and I cannot thank him enough. I ran into him the weekend I was moving my stuff out of the condo, and he was selling another unit in my building. He was genuinely happy to see me and asked about my family etc. From start to finish working with Derek was a great experience. I cannot thank him enough!

Is being a realtor a side/cover job for him? He ignored my two messages that I left for him days apart. I wanted to view a listing he had and I waited for his reply to me but then the listing got sold. He needs to inform people when a listing is pending or sold. I have never encountered such an unprofessional realtor in my life.

I am in the Canadian Armed Forces and got my second property with Derek. I wanted someone who had in my best interest as a buyer and had time for me. I found Derek on Google and read his review and decided to go with him. I was very impressed with his level of professionalism. I did not at no point feel pressured by him and he let me go on my own pace. I wasn't required to sign any papers with him (most realtor makes you do that). Derek gave me good factual insights which helped me in the process such as the price of homes in surrounding areas so I know if it is a favorable or unfavorable price range. There were many things I learned from him in terms of buying a home. For instance, I went in with the intent to buy a brand new home from a builder, but I didn't know the final cost did not include fencing, deck, and landscaping (so more additional cost on top of the home). I decided to look something where everything is included and found a home. I looked at homes online and the ones I was interested I let Derek know and he immediately books it and he gives me a ride to each home. He is really fast with responding to my msgs and phone calls, so he will have time for you and work with you on your best interest. He is very receptive to questions and you can tell he is passionate about his job that reflects his high level of motivation. I strongly recommend him if you are looking for a realtor agent.
