BEWARE of Mary Bayers .... I know property descriptions are embellished ... get that... but when you call and ask direct questions about the condition of the property from the listing agent and tell them you are from Ontario and it is going to cost over $1000 to make the trip to visit - you expect to get an answer close to reality. Well I was surprised, first the photos they provide are SEVERAL YEARS old - need to remember that trick the next time I sell a car (I'll use the photo the day I picked it up from the lot 6 years earlier), the condition of the house was very bad and the description was wrong - laminate floors (not hardwood - yes you should know the difference), cheap knock-off countertops not stone, basement actually smelt like a swamp (thanks for opening the door to the outside - it may have saved my life), sections of siding and the heat exchanger missing from the side of the house, the rest of the siding peeled and chipped EVERYWHERE - neglected to mention that one. A so called media room - maybe lost in the translation but it would be more accurate to call it an interrogation room. Water damage all over the floor in the family room and around every window in the house and a healthy layer of dust on the chandelier (impressive because I think the dust layer was older than the original home build - how does that happen!???). But the real kicker is that when you arrive (after your 20+ hour drive) and find out that she has limited time to spend with you to see the property - you really have to come to the conclusion that she shouldn't be selling homes!! Here is a tip - BE HONEST and think about the customer.
