My wife and I worked with Spencer Stupka between January & August 2020 (with a ~ 2 month break for COVID!), and he represented us for both a house purchase and the sale of our townhouse. For the house purchase, Spencer took the time to understand exactly what we were looking for (and we had quite a long checklist!) and was quite patient with the search. He has great knowledge of Calgary’s neighborhoods and an amazing eye for detail that was really helpful as we looked for houses. Before we finalized our home purchase, we actually made offers on 2 other higher-priced listings that fell through during price negotiations - Spencer never pushed us to make the deals and was truly in our corner despite the obvious incentives for him. The townhouse sale took a lot longer than we originally expected, but ultimately Spencer’s network facilitated the sale for us - the buyer came from another realtor from Charles. The process of buying and / or selling a home can be an emotional roller-coaster, and having a realtor as sincere & authentic as Spencer on your team through it is very reassuring.

The short of it: Ashley Gergel is fantastic and I highly recommend her to anyone looking to buy or sell, regardless of price point. As a first time homebuyer, buying a house is such a huge undertaking - but Ashley and everyone on her team and her recommendations made such a big process a relatively easy one. Although Ashley often deals with properties at a much higher price point than what I was looking for, she treated me with the same attention, detail, and work ethic as she would for someone in the multi-million dollar price range which was so incredibly appreciated. Additionally I never once felt pressured to make a decision. Ashley was so patient and so willing to help educate me about everything that goes into homebuying and provided countless reference materials and professional recommendations to help me find the place that would fit me best. We viewed dozens of listings and not once did I feel that it was a burden to her - rather Ashley was the one that reached out to view more places so I could get the full picture for what I'm looking for. Once we found a place that I really wanted to pursue (not to mention a place that Ashley initially brought up to me), within six hours of the viewing, Ashley put down an offer for the place; within 24 hours we were conditionally sold and at a much better price than I could ever expect. Of all the places we viewed, the one we chose was by far my favourite and had virtually everything I was looking for. Ashley's continued patience, diligence, and desire to find the best place for her clients regardless of price point helped me find a home I'm truly happy with, and a place that I can fully and happily say is home. I can't recommend Ashley enough for anyone looking to buy or sell at any price range. The experience I had with her was beyond fantastic and even with road bumps in the process that were out of our control, Ashley worked to rectify those issues and continued to follow-up to ensure things are taken care of even long after the possession date. Ashley's clients aren't just clients, and the buying and selling process isn't just a business to her. Her clients are people that she truly strives and is passionate to find the best outcome for. And even once everything is said and done, she continues to follow-up to make sure things are going smoothly, that you're settling in, and even continues to offer help where possible. When the time comes to do this all again, I would be hesitant to work with anyone OTHER than Ashley.

As a first time home buyer and new resident of Calgary (Est. November, 2017), the task of finding a house/condo seemed daunting. Not only was I new to the area, I was on a tight budget and wasn't sure if a house or condo was right for me. This isn’t one of those, “he was so easy to work with, helped us find the perfect home” referrals. Andy was so much more to us in the sale of our house. For over three years (yes, you read that right), Andy patiently advised us on how to create the most value for our property, where to spend money renovating and where not to, and answered every dumb question (with kindness and empathy) that we could throw at him. Even with no sale in sight, he was there for us; an invaluable resource. When we were free of the restrictions preventing us from selling, Andy pushed us out of our comfort zone and helped us list the property in only two weeks to take advantage of a hot sellers market. I never knew how much a Realtor should do for you until we met Ashley! We called Ashley just before Christmas 2018 to discuss selling our condo and purchasing a house after dealing with a family friend for years. Ashley was happy to chat even though she was already on Christmas vacation. She sent us preliminary comparables that afternoon and emailed with us all weekend. When we listed our condo she had gorgeous photos taken and printed high quality brochures (something you don't usually see in condos) for showings. She was great about planning open houses and working with us to schedule showings around our 8-month-old's schedule. We ended up being conditionally sold after only 3 weeks (in a terrible market for condos) and made money on the property. On the buying side, Ashley was so good about creating a search that actually met our specific criteria while also personally looking for houses that we might like that wouldn't automatically be sent to us in our auto-search. We were very picky and wanted a deal so it wasn't easy for her. She was happy to help watch/entertain our daughter while we looked around potential properties, and offered to drive us to viewings when we didn't have our daughter with us (we didn't want to deal with the carseat when we did have her). The house we ended up buying we only got because of Ashley. Ashley sent us the link on a Thursday morning saying she thought that we might like it. We were able to get in to see it that evening, then we attended the open house on the Saturday and wrote the offer that night! The house was priced below market value and we would have ended up in a bidding war had we not jumped on it! Once the offer had been accepted Ashley was helpful with all the details to close the deal. She even drove to the property with a measuring tape and talked to lawyers for us when we had some questions about an old restrictive covenant. She really went above and beyond and we ended up in a fabulous home because of it! I have already highly recommended her and Charles Real Estate to many of my friends.
