Amazing cottages, so many photos to go over and I the staff have actually know about the lakes and the area. The owner said he has been to every cottage and photos are regularly updated and if there are changes to the cottage he let me know about them which was pretty honest and impressive. I felt a lot more confident in the cottage that I chose and it was a great experience to actually talk to someone than doing email back and forth. 5 stars

The poorest customer service that I have ever seen. Not recommended to any one. They rebooked our cottage without our permission and took $235 for cancellation fee! the manager was too rude, we never confirmed to rebook the cottage, they did and charge us as well!! I do not recommend them never ever!!

I have recently rented a beautiful cottage on Jeffrey Lake with other two people through Cottage Rentals247. The agency functions efficiently when they ask you for money. However, when I send an email, asking for the return of our security deposit, which btw for pretty high, I didn't even get a courtesy email acknowledging my request. So, I called from home and enquired whether the cottage has been inspected after our departure. I was told that if the office doesn't hear from the cleaning crew, than they ASSUME that everything is OK. Nice going!! The cottage is about 15 minutes drive from the office in Bancroft. At least some staff member could inspect the cottage himself and let us know. I will let the reader to come to his own conclusions. Jaromir Manda

We had rented a cottage on Lake Papineau in July. All worked out well and we loved our stay. So we decided to book again for October. We booked the cottage in July for October and they requested the full rental cost be paid 10 days later?! While that was a little strange as this is not how the first booking worked, but we paid the amount due. In August we found out that we were not able to make it back up in October and I called to cancel the booking and receive a refund. A female answered and said she would gather the details and call me back. I did not receive a phone call, about an hour later I get an email advising I have to supply the cancellation in writing and there will be a $75 charge! Confused, I respond and inquired about the fee to which I was guided to their original website. Fair, it does state this in the terms of rental but what a money grab as they have done nothing, as the cottage was not available to be rented at the time we requested, the owner had made an exception so there was no one who was missing out on renting the cottage due to our booking. Also within the email, I had requested the refund in the same method to which they received it, E transfer. I was advise that they will get this done some time next week! What?! You placed me on a due date to pay but my refund is done when you feel it's convenient for You?! It was not a small amount of money paid to them, that they feel they can hold on too until they get around to it...really poor experience and makes me think twice about booking with this company. It's too bad too, as the owner was amazing and it's a shame the company he pays to represent him is not doing him any favours Renters Beware! UPDATE...so I get an email advising me the online banking is still down I will get a cheque sent and Sorry I wasn't happy with the service. (For the record, he claimed Scotia online was down, I have multiple friends and family who bank with Scotia and they said its been working fine) I respond to see if a refund can be processed to my credit card...I received no response. I called the office and Josh the president picked up line, who was clearly unimpressed by his tone. I expressed who I was and asked about the refund and the potential of being placed on my credit card to which I was advised you will get a cheque and that's the end of it as I am not happy with you and your Google review. I was so caught off guard, he told me I miss represented the situation. So I asked what do you mean? He said you'll get a cheque and we are done...he ended the call! So at this point no refund and no idea when I will receive the money. I am 11 years in a telecommunications company addressing customer service and escalations and highly skilled at what I do and I can not believe that a president of any organization would behave in such a manner.

We did have an issues with the wifi which was disappointing, however cottage247 was very responsive in trying to repair and provided some alternate solutions in the event we required an internet connection. I would definitely book through them again.

There should be 0 Star!!! Just read few other reviews and behold same issues over and over. Rented the place 3 weeks ago and we had the same issue. Wear and tare, part got worn out on foosball. Tried to do good and fix it. 247 rental company decided to go on spending spree and stopped replying to our emails and did not return our $1000 deposit. Took endless emails, phone calls and messages to get back whats owned! Stay away from their rentals unless you want extra stress and unprofessional service. Horrible service! ????????

We rented in COVID 19 time and the house was not cleaned we had to spend 3 hours to clean it so no one gets sick. When we booked the cottage it says no pets and when we arrived we saw a dog walking in the house, later after a few hours the owners dog also came. And before the owner try’s to be offensive there are two decks he came to the area we booked. Very unprofessional how they kept coming into the property once we paid and booked. I do not recommend to book this place. Find a place where the customer service is honest and respectful.

Unfortunately in the past year our deposit that they issued back to us bounced and has taken 6 months to receive a refund. However this refund was $150 less than the $500 deposit originally provided. We’ve rented from this company at least 10 times and have always had a great time. Having said that, over the years We’ve experienced a broken hot water heater and bbq, and found a wasp nest, so we called the office and they’ve always had it taken care of it quickly. My advice to renters is; if you see something broken or damaged, call or e-mail a picture of it to 247 ASAP so that they can take care of it. And don’t disrespect the time that you have to leave the cottage by. People who say “I was only 30, 60, 90 minutes late” are the same ones who are sitting in a bar at the airport having one last drink while a plane full of people wait for them to board. And finally, be a thoughtful “cottage guest”. For those 1 or 2 weeks, pretend that cottage is yours.

We rented a cottage the week of June 29th-July 6th 2018 at 22 Towes Rd on Stimears Lake, Cottage # 424. 206.50$ was taken out of our 1000$ damage deposit for scratches that were on the stairs at the cottage. When my husband and I did our initial walk through, the scratches were already there. We were commenting on how big of a dog the owners must have because the scratches were made by something huge. We have a Siberian Husky who is a runt and our friends had 2 little Keeshond dogs. None of these dogs are big enough to even make these scratches. As we said, we saw the scratches before any animals of ours were even in the house as well. When I called cottage rentals 247, they said the owner and cleaner said they weren't there before so we are required to pay the damages. When I asked the owner of the rental company if he looked upon his walkthrough, he stated that they have too many cottages to do walk throughs themselves, so it goes buy what the owner says. I asked him how he knows then that these damages are definitely from us, and he said nothing. I stated over and over that the damages were there, and that he can ask all guests during the stay, and he said that the owner says they weren't so we have to pay. The stairs have very obviously been damaged and patched many times from a very large dog leaving scratches, we even joked that it looked like a bear had been on the stairs. He also said the owners were quite peeved that we broke into their personal closet.... The closet when we got there was wide open with the lights on, as well as the doors and lights for the bedroom and ensuite the closet was in. To that he replied with silence. I asked him who was going to reimburse us for the physical damages that one child occurred when he cut his foot on glass left on the beach, with that re responded with silence yet again. Our children ended up finding more than 10 large shards of glass on the beach and in the shallow water near the dock. One of those children was just two years old, and luckily he didn't get cut. The glass was there from multiple occasions as there was green, brown and clear shards found. The owner of the rental company said they can't be responsible for things outside the cottage itself, even though it was on the property. We left a few pieces to show them on the front porch railing. We were also given an inventory list that said that kitchen towels and clothes would be provided, which there was not, so we had to take one from the closet they left often that we were apparently not allowed in. We ended up have to purchase other dish towels of our own to get through the week after someone from the rental company came by accusing us of breaking into this closet and went and locked it. Full cleaning supplies were supposed to be provided, but there were no proper cleaners, so again we had to purchase them. The bedroom downstairs where the other couple was sleeping wouldn't latch closed. They were forced to use a shoe in order to keep the door closed. We paid 3600$ for one week at this cottage and everything wasn't up to the standards they said and there is no refund for any of our issues, and yet they had the audacity to charge us for damages we did not do. From reading other reviews, the company likes to do this quite often.

For example we were looking for a cottage for the best fishing and they were able to show us which lakes were best for fishing and we were able to find the perfect cottage with the best fish! They just lost a repeat customer. We rented this year and notified them on November 11 that we would like the same cottage for the same weeks in 2021. On November 12th I received a call from Josh stating that there was someone else interested in our weeks but he would give us first crack. I explained that we have 3 families to coordinate with so I am 99% sure but just have to verify and I would get right back to him. He asked that I do in 24 hours and I made it clear that I would try my best but may need a bit longer in order for everyone to confirm. I was unable to get confirmation from everyone on the weekend and followed up again Monday morning. At 10:32 am today I received an email from CottageRentals 247 asking if I had made a decision yet. I emailed them back at 10:40 am asking for a bit more time and again explaining that I have been unable to reach one of the families. I heard back just over an hour later and immediately emailed CottageRentals 247 at 11:51 am confirming my weeks. They responded at 12:03 saying it was no longer available and had already been booked. I was dumbfounded. I immediately called and spoke to Joanna in the office. She confirmed it had been rented and said I should speak to Josh who was out of the office but said she would have him call me as soon as he got back. I did not hear back so at 3:15 pm I called. Josh was in but had not returned my call. Josh said that it was Joanna who had emailed me this morning and they had not communicated and he went ahead and rented it. I explained that passing the buck to Joanna was unprofessional and regardless of who sent the email, it was a representative of his company and they need to make good on their commitment to me and call the person whom they mistakenly rented to and explain the mistake and rent to me as was originally promised. Josh was unapologetic, quite rude and stated that he had no intention of hounouring his company's promise to me. If I could give less than 1 star I would. Do not do business with CottageRentals 247. Update 11/17/20 Funny how their tone changes to pleasant in a public forum. Don't be fooled people. Their account is inaccurate. Why would I go to the time and trouble of writing this if it were not true? I have nothing to gain but to share my experience so other will go in with eyes wide open. They asked me if 24 hours was enough time. It was not an ultimatum nor a courtesy as they would have you believe. I was very clear that I was coordinating with 3 families and would likely not know until after the weekend. I have their email from Monday morning asking me if I still want the cottage, then telling me an hour later that I'm too late. They were neither courteous nor professional. We did have a great time at the cottage last year but that had nothing to do with them. The owners of the cottage are great. Unfortunately they chose to use an unscrupulous and unprofessional booking agency.

STAY AWAY!!! Great property but Cottage Rentals 247 is absolutely by far the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. We rented cottage 444 on Bark lake, fantastic property. We would rent it yearly if it wasn't for the management company. We had accidentally broken a bar from a cheap foosball table, we immediately owned up to the issue upon checkout and would cover the cost to replace the damaged piece. Our honesty was rewarded by these guys charging us for the full cost of the table even though the replacement part would cost $30 shipped to the property directly from the manufacturer, I was even going to order extra parts as a goodwill gesture and because the cost was mostly shipping. After I had disputed the fairness of charging us the full cost of the table, Josh from 247 made it pretty evident that they will do what they want with your $1000 deposit. They charged me the full cost of the table plus an additional $90 for no good reason. After three unanswered email inquiries about the additional money charged, I had to call them to finally get the additional amount refunded. No explanations, no apologies. I’m just dumbfounded how a company can exist treating customers this way. By the looks of the other reviews they shouldn’t be in business as our experience is not a unique one. Buyer beware.

The place that we rented was good but the customer service was terrible, they were rude and made stupid claims saying we damaged things. When renting a place, it’s the risk you take. But taking over $200 for something that is so small doesn't make sense. Rent from Airbnb and at least they will help you. Also the owner will read this and be so defensive, that’s how you know they are wrong!!

Do not rent from this company. They make up bogus claims to charge extra for cleaning. I was charged extra and asked what the charge was for, as we left the cottage in immaculate condition. They never would answer what exactly the charge was for. After this experience, I was speaking to my aunt, who the year before used this company to rent a cottage. She was slapped with a very hefty charge for cleaning. Many other cottage rental companies out there that are honest and have integrity. DO NOT rent through these guys, unless you love paying extra for no reason. Update after response: Yeah Cottage 247, its all my fault, look at your reviews from other people and give your head a shake. You are skimming from peoples deposits and giving extra bogus charges. I have to compliment you on the side business model. Maybe next step should be a pyramid scheme. Trust me I can live without the $30, its the principle. We left that house in perfect condition and your cleaning person's extra time is just bogus. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. We will be a one time customer, thanks!

I will not conduct business with this company or cottage owner again for the following reasons. Recently we rented a cottage at 36 Elgin Road on Boulter Lake for a week in August. Upon our arrival it was discovered that the paddle boat was not operational contrary to the advertised spec sheet. Shortly thereafter it became apparent that the fridge setting could not be adjusted to prevent the freezing of our vegetables. As we were preparing to depart, the cleaners (who I believe were the owners) rang the doorbell at 12 noon (the advertised check-out time). I invited them to come in and inspect all rooms on the premises which had been cleaned and scrubbed except the kitchen where we were undertaking final packing and cleaning. They refused to enter the dwelling and chose to sit in their vehicle which was parked in the driveway. There was also opportunity for them to begin their exterior property check at 12 noon. We were out of the house by 1 PM and required another 15 minutes to pack and organize the car prior to vacating the driveway. It came as an utter shock when CottageRentals247 advised we were being charged $60 for a late check-out. Although every opportunity was extended to begin their inspection at 12 noon, they chose not to. Secondly, I have stayed at hotels, Airbnb and hostels all over the world and have never before been charged for leaving one hour late. When asked how we would be compensated for the lack of paddle boat use and loss of fresh produce Josh, CottageRentals247 President, replied "it's too late for that." This behaviour is the epitome of poor customer service and inept management. - Response to business reply - As a businessman I suggest that you ensure your information is accurate and facts are correct. You are mistaken saying I rented a cottage from you in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. This was the first year I rented a cottage directly from you. Last year I jointly shared a cottage rental with my sister. My sister has rented from you in previous years not me. It's best that you contact her directly should you wish to solicit positive comments regarding her experience.

We have been repeat renter's for a few summers now and we have had nothing but positive experiences with the cottages and the cottages 247. (Remember cottages 247 doesn't own these cottages. They are the middle man for the owners who rent their cottages.) This summer We rented during "covid times" and the cottage was clean and sanitized. We had no concerns about Covid. We had adequate supplies on hand to clean as needed and before leaving. (we always clean spotless when we leave as a way to say thank you to the owners for letting us rent their cottage - makes their deep clean Easier) The paper work provided before and after the rental of a cottage is very detailed (due dates, $, rules etc) and any questions we have ever had or any issues that have arisen before our arrival have been clearly communicated to us prior to our arrival. We have never had an issue with our deposit not being returned. We are very happy customers and look forward to many more summers of renting thru cottages 247! Thank you Josh and Johanna!
