Selling and buying a home is probably THE biggest financial decision you make in your life and so finding a realtor who does a great job is obviously important. After meeting with a few realtors to determine who to go with, Jonathan easily stood out among the rest. Not only is he warm and likable, he had a clear understanding of what was going on in the market and how to approach it without coming across as over promising or too salesy. He had a well put together folder of information on sales and stats in our community to help support the $ amount he recommended to us with confidence to sell our house at. We were first-time homebuyers who had very little experience and knowledge about owning a home, what to look for in a new home, and what to plan for as our family size grew. Dave Cook went above and beyond in MANY ways for our family. This may be a long review, but this man deserves every mention! The first hurdle was our budget, which meant that we needed to look outside of the Calgary area to meet our criteria. We spent countless afternoons and put extra mileage on our vehicles - as far away as Didsbury, Cochrane, Acme and Irricana - to find the one that best fit our budget. He entertained all our requests to look at deals and developer 'specials' (including a home that had a sinking foundation). He knew we would outgrow a small duplex we really liked (and we did, we had our 3rd child the following year). He was available last minute to show us the homes we selected in addition to homes he had lined up. We felt he always made the effort and made time for us, and he told us hard truths at times regarding our expectations not matching our budget. We finally made our choice, but the second hurdle was that the lending institution was extremely difficult to coordinate with their appraisal of the home. Our offer was expiring, and on the day it was set to expire, Dave went to our bank and spoke directly with them to get the report. We would not have otherwise been eligible to close. They finally faxed the report and our offer went through. Once in the home, the home inspection company made a big blunder and neglected to check if the hot water tank was functional. We had no hot water for 7 days. The heating element was clearly rusted and damaged. We had to replace the hot water tank, a surprise expense on top of closing fees just days before. He and his then partner, Pete Niuwesteeg, took the time out of their busy schedules and family life, to replace the tank for us - again going over and beyond for us! I phoned, emailed and called the home inspection company during a 10 day period, only to be ghosted by them. Pete finally spoke to them firmly on my behalf and the next day, I received an email notice of a full refund of my home inspection fees. During these past 4 years, we have only recommended Dave (and Pete) to our friends for their home buying/selling needs. Through our referrals, Dave has gone on to sell several more homes and create happy homeowners. Beyond this relationship, Dave and Pete have become great friends and have grown with us as a family and as business owners. Their support and recommendations over the years have helped us build our brand and we will ALWAYS recommend that these two will over-deliver and help manage the stress of buying or selling your home. Jonathan Popowich is a professional's professional. He is also honest, down to earth, with a high acumen in all areas of a real estate transaction.
