DO NOT recommend them. If they get back to you at all about matching with a therapist, some of the therapists are just rude and disrespectful. Find someplace more competent and that wants you there.

Received an abrupt email notice at 7:30pm that my therapist is no longer with the organization. I called the next day to find out more and they could not disclose this information which I understand... however the receptionist sounded like she was repeating a script and called me Hunter. Extremely unprofessional and beyond inattentive. In the past I have also had billing issues that my therapist had to work out. At least get my name right and spare me the apathetic standard script. DO NOT USE LYN-LAKE Psychotherapy!!

I was working with Kathleen (a new psychotherapist at Lyn-Lake) and she was amazing! We worked on a lot of different things that I wanted to focus on, along with some meditation and breathing exercises. If you are looking to center and ground yourself so you can overcome or accomplish something on your mind, I definitely recommend Kathleen! She also has a great sense of humor, can carry a conversation, and comes up with logical and relevant exercises and questions for each session!

I had been trying to schedule with 1 of the 3 - 4 therapists that provided the services that I need, after at least a month it was determined that there wad no one there that could help me!! Seriously?? During someone's darkest times? You 'are sorry but it's been determined that no one can help' me with my issues. Good luck tho.

I love my therapist! And this place is beautiful. Can't wait to be in person again!

Be aware they do not send you a bill. They will deduct fees for service from your account without warning. This was very frustrating for me as a large sum was charged to my bank account that I didn’t know was coming out.

It is not worth it to be seen here. There are plenty of other psychiatry facilities that will give you less of a headache. I would highly recommend not even bothering. You don't actually get to contact your psychiatrist directly, you have to go through the receptionist, either via email or phone (rarely does the phone option give you results, though). This is especially frustrating when it comes to issues like technical difficulties with telehealth appointments. Even when you are scheduled with your psychiatrist you still have no way to contact them directly, to let them know you're running late, have a bad internet connection, etc. They once sent me a "no-show" warning after I had tried to reach out to the psychiatrist before one of our appointments to let her know that my internet was not working. They give you three no-show warnings, then they drop you. While it's understandable to have this sort of policy in place, they are not very understanding of mental health issues getting in the way of daily life (which is surprising for a mental health facility). Both the receptionist and the psychiatrist treated me coldly when I came to them with my concerns. I am now reaching out to a different facility which has already shown me more warmth and understanding than LynLake ever has.

I reached out to lyn-lake so I could see a psychologist. That is a big step for me. I was so excited I finally had the strength to make an appointment. I told them the days I was available and they said they would email me with my options. I didn’t hear back from them until almost a month later and sadly it was to tell me that no one was available to see me. So I added another day of the week to see if that would work, but still no luck. I’m feeling very discouraged. If you are looking for a psychologist I’d be aware that they might not be able to see you.

Nancy Soles has been a life-line for my husband for several years. Highly recommend.

After seeing that Dr Borden moved to this office i felt the need to leave this review for my AWFUL time being her patient. (i know nothing about the remaining staff of Lyn-Lake Psychotherapy, im sure they’re great) Susan was my therapist for nearly a year only and the time i spent with her as my prescriber was awful. not only did she misdiagnose me but she ignored my mental health after the intake session. she refilled the same prescription for the entire year. and never listened to my questions or concerns. i spent months bringing up clear indicators that i had been misdiagnosed and she brushed me off each time insisting i stay with the medication she wrote the first time. then she never sent my prescriptions on time to the pharmacy and sometimes she wouldn’t send them at all & i would spend days and even weeks getting ahold of her office begging her to send them. the appointment before i ended services with her i brought up the possibilities of a misdiagnosis, saying i had possibly been misdiagnosed and what i felt i had and why & her response was “yeah maybe, let’s keep going with these meds tho” even tho it’s common for what i had to be misdiagnosed she ignored it completely. Then when it was time to talk about my prescription she didn’t even remember my prescription even tho SHE’S the prescriber and her computer was right there? Then that evening i go to pick up my medicine and the pharmacist told me the my meds were never sent over. so i spent 3 weeks calling, emailing and texting trying to get ahold of her office (all while out of needed medication) and in my email i explained what the pharmacist said to me and said that there might’ve been a miscommunication between her, her staff and the psychiatrist so her response was to finally fill my prescription 3 weeks late (the pharmacist told me when she actually sent it over) left a voicemail yelling at me saying i said she didn’t know how to do her job, that it was my fault the medicine wasn’t picked up and that i told her the wrong dosage and that’s why it was wrong (all things i did not do) after this i decided to end my services with her. it wasn’t worth it to argue with a person to simply do their job. i heavily encourage anyone with Dr Borden or considering her to look for a different prescriber or go elsewhere.

Always always always amazing. I can't speak for all, but my therapist uses an intersectional lens and never hesitates to highlight the systemic oppressions at play in any one of our sessions or my "symptoms." I leave feeling heard, affirmed, and more able to exist in this garbage fire of a time to be black, queer and alive.

As mentioned in a few other posts below. They will run your bank card without notice. They did it more than once .The first time was not my card on file but my Childs father who took her to the appointment for me and they wouldnt see her without card info. A few days later they tried to pull 1k without notice. he does not have that kind of money sitting in his checking account nor does he pay those bills I do. So if they would have called me it could have been resolved then, but they pull it at will. It happed again a couple weeks later for another bill I wasn't aware of and iI wasnt budgeted for. Again had I been notified I could have prepared for it or transferred funds but they do not call you they just pull it whenever they please. Completely unprofessional billing practices.

A horrible and unethical place. DO NOT seek services. The therapists are extremely unprofessional. Late to appointments while still billing for the entire session even though the therapist was not present. Expect to be dismissed and misdiagnosed. During my first session a therapist dismissed my diagnosis, diagnosed me with a different disorder 5 minutes into our session, and suggested that I seek out medication instead of therapy. It was extremely uncomfortable as we did not build any rapport. This therapist minimized my struggles & feelings. This can be extremely discouraging for people who are new to therapy and can further cause harm. I will be reporting this therapist to the MN Board of Psychology for unethical and out of scope practices. There are plenty of great places to seek services, go elsewhere.

Seems to be a pattern here. Patricia Lucas called me and asked that I text her my email and she'd get back to me. I did so and she never responded. Unprofessional. She also said she was an expert in trauma, when her website says "birth psychology" is her speciality. The place replied below to which I reply: why would I contact someone who is unprofessional (not to mention uncaring to me) and from what I saw on her website, misrepresented herself to me? No thanks.

BAD BILLING PRACTICES!!!!!! The counselors here are amazing! Lyn Lake psychotherapy's billing practices are very unprofessional, #1 they do not have a direct contact to the billing group so you will have to discus issues on billing with your counselor (a good way to disrupt and deviate an important relationship). #2. once you provide them with card info they will run your card without notification, and in my case they ran 3 payments through at one time causing my account to be frozen as possible fraud as my card was not present at any of these transactions. #3. The will not call you to discuss problems even with requests through your counselor. They have offices with no front desk no support and no way to communicate with office staff in charge of billing and insurance claims, Management leaves everything to the counselors who have no idea about any of those issues. the ownership of this group needs to stop being so cheap and provide staff to assist their clients and customers and quit violating counselor client relationships.

I highly encourage Black patients to seek therapy at a different location. I had a therapist who was 10-20 minutes late for most sessions. When we did speak, Nancy focused on herself and her experience as a white woman. Instead of apologizing or even acknowledging how inappropriate she was, she sent me an email stating our work was done. This is after I opened up to her about very difficult experiences. Black people (especially black women): PLEASE do not go to this clinic. Use resources such as Therapy For Black Girls or Black Virtual Therapist directory to get help. Do not put your mental health in the hands of white people. Trust me. Also: The owner’s response is garbage. That woman pulled the plug on treatment right in the middle of a very painful time in my life. This service is terrible.

I moved to Minneapolis and needed to find a psychiatrist who would do medication management with me while allowing me to continue seeing my therapist of 4 years who is not with the practice. This proved difficult, but Lyn-Lake had a psychiatrist who was able to see me. They were great with communication and I was able to set up an appointment without much trouble. I didn't have a bad experience, necessarily. The psychiatrist was very thorough and explained all of her reasoning for changes to my treatment. She repeatedly said I was part of the treatment and my input mattered. However, as time passed after this meeting, I became increasingly uncomfortable when thinking through our conversation. My therapist, who has a PsyD, diagnosed me with ADHD 4 years ago. I see her weekly and how my ADHD manifests itself is a common topic of our sessions. When I saw this new psychiatrist, she disregarded my diagnosis and said I needed to go through testing at Lyn-Lake to be diagnosed-- although she was still willing to provide me medication management to a point. She also minimized the difficulties I'd been experiencing without my medication to justify changing my medication to a lower dosage which costs much more money than my previous medication. She was more worried about external social issues like stimulant abuse and the prevalence of self diagnosis and expressed more than once that she was protecting both of us-- which I am not sure I understand anymore, as I have been treated for ADHD for 4 years without any issues regarding medication misuse or abuse and I have responded very well to treatment. She said ADHD is over diagnosed during the pandemic, which shouldn't apply to me as I was diagnosed in 2018. She also said just because someone else says I meet diagnostic criteria for a diagnosis doesn't mean I do. My goal with medication management was to find someone who would work with my therapist to provide me treatment that works for me, but this doesn't seem to matter to this psychiatrist. She has barriers she puts in place to protect herself, rather than to provide me with the best care I can receive. Very frustrated with the experience and now looking for a new provider again. Edited to add: literally 1 week after my appointment, before I'd been informed of my balance and without any warning, my card was charged by LynLake for $370 and my bank account was overdrafted. I understood they would have my card info on file but I assumed this was precautionary. Also, the psych described above said I needed a follow up appointment because she prescribed me a controlled substance. This isn't true in any legal sense and would just result it another outlandishly expensive visit being charged to my account without warning. No thank you. I have lowered my rating.

I have had multiple providers leave lyn-lake and try to recruit me to their personal practice. Psychiatrists don't respond to referral emails making it impossible to get an appointment. This was my third and final bad experience over 2 years so I am seeking treatment somewhere else- you should, too.

I had a concern because Lyn Lake is structured as a PA, but listed as a Corporation. I could not reach Amanda, but she's so empathic that she called me out of the blue to explain. Sound's some attorney talked the owner into LTD, regardless of the PA structure. Best of all, Lyn-Lake bought our old Snelling Ave firehouse in my neck of the woods. It was the heart of our community. We laughed at the thought of therapists sliding down that historic brass fire pole to say your appointment is ready. Its fun and i've done it myself. Wonder if they will.. Lyn-Lake is special to be sure, and staffed by really good people.
