So many different doctors to choose for a psychoeducational assessment. I choose this one because it was close to my kids school (Northlake Woods Public School) and had good reviews. I was so happy I did! Dr. McCabe is well experience with kids and his price includes a visit to school to discuss with (teacher + resource educator + parents) on what resources would benefit your child's. He is very familiar with Northlake woods public school staff and resources they provide therefore I highly recommend choosing him if you need your child evaluate in that area.

Dr. McCabe and his office staff were absolutely wonderful with the psych ed assessment for our daughter (7 y/o). She felt very comfortable and supported throughout the whole process. As parents, everything was well explained and easy to follow. We definitely have a better understanding of our daughter and how she learns. Dr. McCabe also came with us to the school to help advocate for our daughter and explain what she needs from her teachers. Highly recommend Dr. McCabe!

This is our second time around with this practice. Dr. McCabe is professional and fosters authentic rapport with my kids. He sees them for who they are, is able to interpret the information they find, and present it to us and the teachers in understandable ways. He gives strategies and insights that we understand and can apply. As for the reviewer who was disappointed with Dr. McCabe not doing the actual testing, in my experience, there are always associates who do the test (here, and elsewhere), and then the psychologist synthesizes the information, and presents it back to us.

We recently had a Psycho-Educational Assessment done on our 8 year old son. A friend highly recommended Dr. McCabe and he sure did not disappoint! He is down to earth, caring, patient, sincere and extremely knowledgeable. He made us all feel comfortable and at ease during each appointment. Our son enjoyed his assessments done by the friendly Psychometrist and looked forward to his appointments. Dr. McCabe’s front desk Administrator, Cheryl, is lovely to deal with as well! She is friendly and responds in a timely and professional manner. We loved that Dr. McCabe came to our son’s school to review the assessment with his teacher and other key staff members. This ensured that everyone is on the same page in terms of providing support and strategies to best help our son now and in the future. The school staff was also impressed with Dr. McCabe and how comprehensive and detailed his reports are. He is certainly an expert in his field. We couldn’t be happier with our experience with Dr. McCabe. Thank you so much!!! We are forever grateful and will be sure to recommend Dr. McCabe to any friends or family members looking for a wonderful Psychologist.

The final report he provided is sloppy and has typos. The reception is also rude and needs to be right about everything.

All the tests are performed by an assistant and not an actual psychologist.. psychologist only goes over the test results and gives you a diagnosis.
