Great therapists who care about their clients. The building is well maintained and in a great location.

Carin has truly been one of the most positive influences in my entire life. She helped me to explore and understand myself better than I ever had before. She guided me through hard revelations and always held the space I needed for effective learning and healing. I will be forever grateful for the time I had with Carin. With her guidance, I have realized and am living the life I truly want to live. It wasn't easy work but it was and will be worth it. Thank you!

Originally I didn’t like the person who led my DBt group so I switched to Joe and he is wonderful and I can tell he loves what he does! I’ve learned so much from him! Also love my individual therapist.

Ben treated me with complete disrespect due to my class and non-neurotypical biological reality. I believe they didn't follow their own guidelines I signed and they provided me with no follow through to find me other support and I was without any Psy support during covid-19 and it set my trauma issues several years. I PLAN TO Follow through about the inadequate treatment I received.

My therapist is definitely top notch, Stephanie Dietz, because she involves me in my own recovery. I'm seeing her for grief counseling, since I lost my mother to Stage 4 Colon Cancer in 2014! She's brought me a long way in the past year that I've working with her. Highly recommend her for anyone looking for a top notch therapist!

January 15, 2019 _____________________ I personally had a terrible experience with this location the moment that I walked into that therapy session. First an foremost, I can tell immediately when someone talks to me if I'm going to like the seating or not and the person that is introduced to me immediately gave me the vibe that made me feel uncomfortable. I didn't even feel* respected at most; let alone, I didn't feel comfortable opening up to this person and this person is a psychologist, I believe- but she made me feel so uncomfortable; I just answered Yes, or No, questions; I didn't talk much because she just didn't seem friendly at most. Her smile can be described as fake; and her tone in speaking didn't sound like she was interested in getting to know* me; not as a client; but as a person either. It was so awful, I didn't want to go back- that I had to call the next day and cancel- oh, and of course, discontinued services. I'm just not interested in being a part of their DPT program. Not with their kind of introduction. I understand that I might've given them the impression of being naturally rude. But being the educated one* shouldn't they know* what they're signed up to work with? They're supposed to make* the mentally ill* feel comfortable- when they speak up about their problems; not make them feel even more shut-in* and not want to even breathe about their pain. I kid you not- I'd rather not go anywhere if this is what DPT sessions- look like. It was like, I opened up to you, and you JUDGED me. At least, it felt that way.

I have been with MCP since I was 16 and I was matched with a great therapist. She takes great pride in her work and listens to me very well. On one occasion, when I was in a small crisis, I called her for coaching in the early morning hours, multiple times and she called me back every time within ten minutes. I absolutely would recommend MCP to others. My therapist is awesome and I feel like she cares a lot about me and not just about the money.

While the therapist I got ended up being helpful and nice, but the company itself uses terrible billing companies. The company they used up until July of 2017 was terrible and didn't seem to keep records of clients. They switched to a new billing company in July, which tried to come after me for bills I had already paid. They initially demanded $400, and after I proved that I had paid that (using statements from my bank, thank God I didn't pay those bills with cash), they asked for $650 for the same charges plus a few more additional charges that came out of the blue. I am not paying for the same bills a second time over a year later. Absolutely terrible. UPDATE: Their terrible billing company is trying to charge me AGAIN for the service that I already paid for. This is the third time and absolutely unacceptable business practice. I have PHYSICALLY PROVEN that I have already paid these bills TWICE by sending receipts and statements, but lo and behold they send yet another bill. I am absolutely FLOORED. Do not waste your time at MCP because the service I got was not worth 5 years of dealing with their shoddy billing practices. Avoid them like The Plague. I will never go back because they can't keep track of who has paid and who hasn't. Terrible, terrible service. 0/10

Asked to change therapists because I was uncomfortable with Ben. The coordinator refused, said she'd "give my file to someone else". Have had no follow up in weeks.

The therapy and stuff is ok. But I'm very mad that after two months they haven't given us back the 373 dollars they owe us. We moved to a different state and still paid for another month of treatment that I obviously wouldn't be there for. And to be honest we need the money really bad right now. And we've sent emails and called but we got nothing. The programs there are alright but the place is making me mad over this money thing.

I highly recommend MCP to anyone looking for therapy, especially DBT. This facility and the providers I've encountered/ gotten to work with have all been great! The place is always clean, ran very well and the staff has always been very courteous to me. I especially like that they have signage posted on their restroom stating to use the one that fits your gender identity (not exact verbiage but along the lines of) so this is a place where people from all over the spectrum can come and feel safe and accepted!

I LOVE MCP, my individual therapist is so wonderful and caring. She actually wants to help and does a fabulous job making me feel important and comfortable. The DBT program here is also great! I highly highly recommend this place to others!!

Not very professional at all

Some of the therapists don't listen to the things that you tell them they only hear what they want to hear. I have a child attending therapy there and the therapist is not out to help the child she is only there for the money. If you are the parent to the child they really don't want to hear what you have to say. My suggestion to anyone thinking about going there or thinking about taking your child there please think twice because you will be very disappointed in their service as well as disappointed in the therapists there. I am actively seeking a new therapists for my child now and would never go back there ever again not even if they were the last place available or the only place that took my insurance I am very discouraged by them.

During a critical time for my family and I when we really needed assistance we found what seemed like a good place and with the name Minnesota Center for Psychology it seemed liks a no brainer. This place was awkward at best and a complete failure for people in crisis at worst. It started off with a $250 initial visit which I thought was going to be me and my families beginning to the much needed help and relief we were seeking. But nope it was were you tell all your entire life's problems to a stranger you'll never see again. And it was all just to tell me.... I fit for their program! It was all about them. And since I didn't have the ability to commit to a year they essentially just dropped me and my family. So here's how it went down at this unprofessional place: I called her back to make an appt (which is only voicemail btw) she called me back once, i called her back no response, i called her the next week no response, i then called the front desk at the end of the week they said they would get back to me that day or the next, a week passed again no word. I called them again in what felt like pulling teeth to talk to the woman i originally sat with and she answered with she was in a meeting and had a few minutes to essentially figure out my care for me and my family. Wow! And after weeks of trying to get a hold of her, during a very hard time mind you, she informed me none of their therapist would help me because i can't commit to their year program! And even after I expressed how people really need help and are coming to them and how unprofessional this was they were very blank and uncaring at the seriousness of what they are doing and the nature of their jobs. Big waste of time, lots of money for nothing and now the circumstances have changed in my life and my families where that was our window of opportunity and we trusted them with it! So we never did get that help my family, honestly, so bravely sought out. I hope they read this and fix their lack of professionalism and have more clarity with potential clients about their very unusual ways. Also to realize people are coming to them in crisis and they need to respond very seriously and sincerly, that people's lives are literally on a line.

MCP violated my privacy and then terminated me as a patient when I asked about it.

Desperately in need of help for our very ill adolescent, waited months to get in only to have our family torn apart by this therapist. The therapist is new and inexperienced. She would make a recommendation, we would act on that recommendation only to have her blame us when child acted out further. The therapist was at a loss and unable to be effective. Adolescent even stated, "she doesn't know what she's doing." In the end, therapist gave up on adolescent and used parents as the scapegoat.

Lots of red tape to actually see a therapist at this center. Very annoying. However I finally found a therapist that is a good fit and I am getting good care!

Great place that follows evidence-based treatments (sometimes a bit too far) and has several really effective providers. Would definitely recommend for someone in the twin cities area looking for DBT or ERP.

The care here is simply below par. The care I received was misguided at best and harmful at the end of the day. It took me transfering to a new practice to undo the damage that was done here.

The only thing professional about the Minnesota Center for Psychology is the name. An impressive sounding name but that is where the professionalism ends. In my 50+ years dealing with professional services, I have never come across a practice this inept. And I don't say this lightly - Please read on. My family could not have been more disappointed with the quality of service at the Minnesota Center for Psychology. I enrolled my child in their Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) program which involves weekly skills training and individual therapy. 1. According to MCP the services were covered. Ultimately they were. But it took almost 2 months for MCP to provide the proper paperwork to Blue Cross. After 2 months it was approved but my wife and I endured an extended period of uncertainty as the bill accumulated into the thousands. 2. My family had a scheduling conflict that required that we have my son attend the weekend skills training instead of the weekday skills training. I was assured up front by the program director that there was flexibility in temporarily moving my child to the weekend session if needed. To make a long story short, the therapist running the weekday training appeared insecure about letting my son temporarily attend another therapists skills training. I spoke with the program director about this. She assured me that there were spots available in the weekend session and explained the reluctance of the weekday therapist in allowing the move by stating "we like to protect our own". After 3 weeks of foot dragging they did not approve the temporary move. News Flash MCP! It's not all about you. It's about your patients, many of who'm are in desperate need of your help. As therapists you are there to help the people that come to you in need. You are not there to further your own careers and line your pockets to the detriment of your patients. 3. The DBT skills training was poorly delivered. The first session started out with the instructor pulling a Youtube video off the internet and using it to explain what Dialectical Behavioral Therapy was all about. Really? Your'e teaching DBT skills and you start off the course by using someone else's video instead of explaining the subject yourself. In the weeks that followed things just got worse. The skills training was very amateurish to put it mildly. To summarize, the skills training was poorly delivered. They didn't seem to know how to deal with an insurance company in order to obtain approval for coverage in a timely manner. And they seemed intent on satisfying their own needs to the detriment of their patients. They really let us down and left us scrambling to find another therapist for our child. A question for MCP: Based on multiple on line reviews at different review sites, your practice is in a state of crises. You are failing many individuals and families and potentially ruining lives. I haven't seen a single reply from you to any of these negative posts. You should reply. Maybe an apology? Maybe a statement that you are planning to or have changed your practices to better serve your customers? YOUR SILENCE IS DEAFENING!

Went here a few years ago, was highly effective DBT treatment as I made it through the whole year long treatment for young adults. Advise taking young adult group if you’re college age since otherwise adult groups have different vibes and concerns sometimes. Turned my life around and am now teaching DBT to others.

I met an extremely helpful and life-changing therapist at this office. I would give it 5 stars, if she were still there. I am hopeful there are therapists like her at this center. However, I'm giving it three stars because of the front desk workers. Any interaction I had was so frustrating. I haven't been able to schedule over the phone because multiple therapists aren't accepting clients who schedule over the phone? I have had appointmens cancelled for no reason, scheduled wrong or billed under the wrong insurance. They've been condescending and so disorganized to a point where I scheduled my appointments after hours and asked for my therapists direct lines to schedule future appointments. I have recommended this place for friends and family but do suggest reaching out to therapists directly.

they only care about turning this into a patient mill. pump out large numbers of clients to make six figure salaries. it's disgusting and anyone with basic clinical skills should be able to do anything other than manualized treatment.

I can’t speak for adolescent stuff but I was in the adult DBT program here for a year and a half, graduated from the group five months ago, and my quality of life has improved greatly in these last two years. I still see my individual therapist weekly. If you put in the work and give your best to this program it can really make a difference.
