At present this firm receives a score of 2.8 out of 5 and this score has been based on 127 reviews.
As you can read, it has an average rating is discreet, and it is based on a high number of reviews, so we may conclude that the rating is quite reliable. If there are many people who bothered to value when they've done well, it works.
As you know, we do not usually stop to write feddbacks when these are good and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or incidence...
This Psychologist corresponds to the category of General hospital.
Under staffed, wait times are ridiculous, ER staff more interested in chatting than working. I broke my foot in June and was given the wrong size boot in ER, complications with infection in my foot and 4 visits to the Ortho clinic during which nobody has yet to actually look at my foot. Xrays can only show the inside of the foot but the other issues with the foot went ignored.
I didn't catch the paramedics names on January 2nd but shout out to them: thanks for the humor and for making the situation more chill, and also thanks for checking in between runs - it was much appreciated! In all honesty, most of the paramedics and in-patient staff that we've dealt with lately have been very caring and friendly.
Amazing experience from physicians, nurses, and unit assistant in caring for my father who was admitted to the CCU. We are also very thankful to the E.R staff who also were caring towards him and my mother. The wait times are appropriate based on triaging of whether or not someone's symptoms are "emergency" qualified. Too many bad ratings in regards to this when it's a wonderful facility.
Thank you North Bay Regional staff for taking care of me! The nurses and other staff I had helping me after my injury and surgery were all awesome. On thanksgiving and forever ...I’ll be thankful I was in great hands
I went to NBRHC in an emergency. Nurses were competent in addressing my needs. The 3 days here were acceptable concerning nurses. A doctor trainee approached me about a medication I was taking which this doctor had to look up to see what it was. Upon discovering what the drug is, she wanted to start playing games with changing dosages. Later another Dr trainee also was commenting on this medication I was taking. I then told Mr. doctor trainee that the drug was prescribed to me by a psychiatrist, 31 years ago. He walked out. I wonder if he was even born 31 years ago. Ultimate stupidity. Any doctor with some iota of reasoning would at least ask how long a person was on a med. and who prescribed it. Having never heard of this drug and then begin playing psychiatrist shows a narcissistic personality and delusional self grandiose person. A person like this could be very dangerous to a patient. The bed I was given, seemed archaic. The sheets were too short and too narrow. One night there, I was so cold, that I had to cover myself with my coat. The worn sheets were insufficient. After all treatment here was finished for me, I was told that the Dr trainee didn't feel like coming to the hospital to sign my release untill the next day. Can you imagine the cost of keeping an invalid patient in a hospital for no reason but to wait for the next day to be released. Imagine the thousands of wasted dollars a Dr trainee can cause the government to spend because of this egotistical person? I wonder if the Salvation army would even take the sheets? Another situation is that I have sleep apnea. I've read that 10% of people with untreated sleep apnea can die of suffication. Being an emergency, I wasn't able to bring my CPAP machine with me. When I enquired about a CPAP machine, I was told it would cost $50 per day to rent a CPAP MACHINE. I didn't have this money for rental. For the first time in about 20 years, I was forced to sleep without my CPAP. I wonder what cover up the government would set up if a hospital patient died of Sleep Apnea because he didn't have $50 a night for the CPAP. I had been in a hospital a couple times before, and was never charged for the use of their potential life saving CPAP. For those with very severe sleep apnea, I would suggest that you stay away from this institution if you don't have $50 per day for a CPAP rental. This could be your final resting place.
What a joke of a hospital, 7 hours just to get a swab and antibiotics for a throat infection, the nurses and doctor were wonderful and did all they could but it's hard with one doctor for the whole ER, the executives that make the decision to hire another doctor don't care about your health, they just care about profits and how big their bonus is at the end of the year.
They did a terrible job assessing my grandma when she fell. They sent her home within 3 hours in an ambulance, she fell again due to toxicity and was sent into a comma which inevitably was her demise. Another instance is from their mental health section; they are terribly impatient, some have rude and have no manners. They drugged my fiance on injections and pills when she never needed that in the first place. The North Bay hospital is by far the worst addition to the city.
I was in palative care for 2.5 weeks for treatment, the staff was excellent . The hospital was clean and modern. The nurses went out of their way to help you out in any way they could. Thank you all.
This is the worst experience I've ever had in my life and I've spent a lot of time in Hospital's. I wouldn't even give it a star but the lady doctor seem genuinely concerned when I started crying. 8 hours before seeing a dr. 8 EFFING HOURS!!
I had severe pain eating and experianced a seisure so i came in asap. On top of that i needed to leave on the last bus since i cant afford a taxi. Left in the lobby for upwards of 2 hours i finaly had to go because of the bus. I asked to sign out and leave. Took 30minutes before i saw the nurse to sign out and by that point id missed the bus. Now id also asked to know if id have enough time when i arrived and they said they couldnt say. But when i was leaving the nurse was smug and acted like i shoulda known itd take this long and that its all my fault.... very professional. Now i get tk walk home in freezing rain. Ty nbhc
If you ever see Dr. Matthew Clarke....run. He's a total idiot. My grandson was vomiting and peeing blood and this doctor sent my grandchild home. Baby ended up having pyloric stenosis and flown to Ottawa for surgery. Good thing I don't live close by or I might have needed bail money.
My husband got a 3rd degree greases burn he was seen at the E.R. (minimum 3hr wait) where he was asssesssed and dressing applied, pictures were taken and sent to burn unit. He was told to return in about a week to change dresssing and re-assess for return to work or possible surgery. We returned a week later, they had NO record of type of dressing used or that he was to return for assessing. 5hr wait before he would be seen. VERY PROFESSIONAL! Its the only hospital so its not like we have a choice.
The GOOD: I've had three surgeries in the new hospital. All three were great successes and I marvel at today's technology. After being bed-ridden for over a year I had both knees replaced and the relief was almost miraculous! So I have high praise for the Doctors I've dealt with and some of the Nurses. The BAD: It seems to be luck of the draw when it comes to the nursing staff. In my experience I'd say one out of every six is a delight. The remaining five are usually fairly snotty and act like you are the last thing on their list of priorities. Last Fall I brought my mom to Emergency when she fell on rocks and ended up with a large laceration on her forehead. We waited an incredible TEN AND A HALF HOURS!!!! before a Doctor finally saw her and stitched it up (which took another 45 min. - 1 hour). We had arrived there at 10:00 a.m. and it was 9:30 p.m. when we left. At around the nine hour mark I asked if it was acceptable for an 86-year old woman with a nasty laceration on her head to wait such a long time. I was told that, "yes, it is acceptable" and that it was "like that at every hospital." Hahahaha! NO, IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE! And, it is NOT like that at every hospital. I know people that will drive to Sturgeon or Mattawa Emergency Departments rather than North Bay's. The UGLY: Because my issues were ones of mobility when I was a patient (I could not get out of the bed) I've actually had to PEE THE BED TWICE!!! and lay in that URINE!! for as long as HALF AN HOUR before a nurse would finally respond to my call. After it happened the first time, I asked them to leave the bedpan within my reach. It was very awkward to hoist myself onto it while lying in bed, but, that was the only option left to me so I didn't complain. The second time it happened was when one of the cleaning staff moved the bedpan out of my reach when I was asleep. It wasn't as if I waited until the last minute to buzz, either... in both cases I had buzzed at least 30 - 45 min. before I just could not hold it any longer. There's nothing like laying in your own cold urine for half an hour to motivate you into leaving a one-star review! CONCLUSION: I am a reasonable person. I have never been a belligerent type of patient. I'm not sure why the competence and behaviour of the nursing staff is so lacking, but, it's a problem. I would like to add that the Doctors and Nurses running the Wound Clinic are WONDERFUL and it is a pleasure to deal with them. Too bad they can't extend that professionalism to the rest of the Hospital.
I have to say that nobody ever likes going to the hospital for anything right but I can't really say that I had too much of bad in my experience with NBRHC unless I am already there because of bad health nothing's perfect and the staff do care and are very awesome!
They have some issues around privacy, to put it simply. These issues will need to addressed. If you don't mind people knowing your name, or seeing your name up on a board someplace other can see, then it's okay...I think we need to see some reform in this area, giving RN's in particular, more access to records for case study and to better care for their patients. Personally, I'd rather have a nurse who stays current and is aware of hospital resources, knows how to research things people don't know off the top of their heads, then a nurse, who doesn't care enough to take the time to stay current. It's the RN's who look after you, in the end, and often times, help you make the transition between this existence and the next! That is a powerful position to be in, and can be horrifying, if an RN lacks care, compassion, humanity and dignity, and respect for life!
Just gave birth here this week! The nurses, doctors and staff in labor and delivery were absolutely the most amazing and wonderful people I have ever met!
Fantastic experience with the diagnostic imaging and phlebotomy departments. Every staff member I encountered from the time I showed up at the front door was wonderful. Awesome hospital!
Was there We are excited last night for 7 plus hours on it Even showed up with my own x-ray And as an emergency room they shouldn't be asking as an emergency room they shouldn't be asking five times for people who are not sitting there waiting was an absolute joke being there i will die be for i go back there fu
I wish I could give 2 separate reviews. I'm averaging my experience and giving 3 star. Because the regular departments and ER are way too different. Always had a good experience and helpful doctors and nurses, didn't take too long to get the service and I'd give 5 stars, but ER department is opposite, very slow. Maybe should educate patients that they don't need to come to the hospital's ER department with regular cold symptoms or just some headache. It's just very slow, prepare yourself, you'd stay there at least 4-5 hours to see a doctor. Otherwise it's a nice hospital.
I recently spend time at the hospital. Although the ER was extremely slow the the staff on the surgical inpatient floor, porters, Dr Creech, Imaging staff, lunch and ER staff, social worker, physio staff, etc My only complaint was the lack of cleanliness on the floor. I was in for 5 days and i saw my room cleaned once, the call bell had blood on it from a previous patient but when i mentoned the toilet was leaking the repair person was there quicky. Despite the issues with cleaning the staff were great even though they were short handed and dealing with cvid restrictions. I was very impressed.with the dedication of staff.
So, came in for kidney stones today. I knew I had them, have had them before. So, when you know what's wrong it makes their job eadiea..... well, one would think. As of writing this I'm at 4.5 hours and counting. Gave a urine sample....it sat on the desk for over half an hour until someone knocked it off, then they demanded a second sample. Not so easy when you've been sitting there for, at that point, 3 hours with nothing to drink. What kind of staff does that? Knowing you're there for kidney stones and nobody offers anything to drink. Unreal. Let's go person by person with yht people I interacted with. Intake nurse #1 was nice. Pleasant and kind demeanor, asked all sorts of questions. Seemed to genuinely care. Intake nurse#2 was a disaster. Confrontational, rude and demanding. If you didn't get the information fast enough or didn't know, you got a very poor attitude. At the end, shevmash a rude comment that made me look at her.... which prompted her to say "what, you have a problem?". Very professional. Nurse who did the initial intake exam. Very nice, kind and caring. Showed genuine empathy. Alot of the staff could learn from her. Doctor who actually saw me....2.5 hours in. No empathy, and honestly seemed a bit clueless. Tech who took blood....awesome at her job. Didn't feel the needle go in or out. Nurse who asked for a urine sample.... nice enough. Polite, Abit distant but professional. Nurse who kicked me out of the room I was in. Over inflated sense of self entitlement. She's a snowflake through and through. Looked at me like I was some sort of dirty homeless person who had soiled the sheets. Rude, gives people dirty looks no matter lwho she's looking at. Overall this place is a clownshow. The majority of the staff just doesn't care and it's blatantly obvious. They're slow to the point of incompetence. The staff will stand around and gossip about patients not caring if they're overheard or not. Overall,if I have to go to the hospital again, I'll head out of town. I'll suck it up and make the drive elsewhere. Why should the money OHIP pays go to a hospital like this?
Emergency patients are not served as Emergency patients I came here at 6pm and it's 8:45 right now nobody is calling names for patients and there are only three patients ahead me .one old man sitting on accessible chair having injury on his …
The lab processes have to be reassessed. Waiting to register then again for blood work isn't working. Eso when all types of blood work are done! Could chemo not be done on the chemo ward since they have to be weighed there before blood work. Assign a lab personnel there. Maybe the RNs could do it, too. It may be faster & more efficient that way. Nurses do bld work in CCU & L&D
The NBRHC saved my mom's life after she contracted Flesh eating bacteria. She almost lost her arm and her life. But she kept her arm and now has full range of motion. This happened 8 years ago and I came to the hospital recently after I had a panic attack and wouldn't eat they treated me well and gave my mom suggestions to help me. I am doing amazing since then :-)
Only ever needed the birthing, nicu and pediatric units, and the doctors and nurses are absolutely phenomenal.
Went in at 750pm saturday January 6th, 2019 for a few things. In the waiting room till 9 not bad.. they put us in a room for 15 mins. A male nurse with a poor attitude came and moved us into the hallway. Asked why? No one knew.. then found in the computer he had moved us rooms and said nothing. have been sitting in the back for 3 hours. Had heart monitor at 10.. 2 hours later blood work. There was a kid acting out down the hall. 3 security guards apparently wasnt enough to handle him there was a nurse in the room another 2 out side and another 2 down the hall just watching. One woman stood out. She was rude while taking vitals and more rude when I was walking the halls to stretch my legs. Told me I had to remain in my room. Its middle of the night theres no hallway activity I would understand if it was busy.. this is supposed to be a hospital to help people not a prison to limit them. This is by far the rudest most arrogant f***ing s**t hospital thanks to the ungrateful 'staff' that work here. Not a happy patient.
They take no time whatsoever with patients, nor do the majority of staff know anything about care and compassion . My mother is elderly and not able to feed herself or care for herself. If no family is there to help feed those that are unable to feed themselves, they go without!! Please do not leave your loved ones alone in that hospital!
On September 1st, 2014 after a wonderful holiday with our son & his wife we were headed home to B.C. when my husband had a medical emergency driving on Hwy 17 between Mattawa & North Bay. I called 911 & a ambulance came & took him to North Bay Hospital where he spent the next 3 days. He was given every test that he required & was treated so well. We wish to commend your hospital on the wonderful care & equally wonderful staff from the ER to the staff on C3- 20. especially Rachael, ER admitting Dr.Shea, Attending physician Dr Chris Galema. We will be forever grateful. Bruce is doing very well, thanks to all of you. Bruce & Megan Walker, Chemainus B.C.
The staff on C-3 are honestly the most amazing staff. Thank you doesn't say enough to express how we feel about the care and kindness they have shown as we had a family member pass from cancer. These girls are very professional and have huge hearts. The care was so heartfelt and their explanations were clear, given with genuine compassion. Thank you from the entire family. Keep being who you all are. You are all incredible!!
1. Had pneumonia for over 2 weeks. Was severely ill, could hardly get out of bed because of excruciating pain. Couldn't walk 15 steps without tremendous pain causing me to stop. When I went to get checked at the hospital they said I was fine. 2. Went to hospital for stitches around 1/2am (wasn't a gash it was a hole) took the doctor hours to come (as expected), the trauma to the face/head also caused concussion. No word of a concussion was said during my visit. Way too many problems with this hospital, over paid ignorant people who gather in a room and conversate instead of doing their jobs. Pathetic excuse for a hospital. Dissapointed every time. Staff needs urgent upgrade AND I DO NOT MEAN THEIR PAY SALARY.
Nursing staff are very good. But need more. Nurses seem to be overworked. Biggest problem is food. From sugar saturated food for diabetics to totally unappealing appearance, the meals a pathetic. Coffee/tea served cold. I would challenge the so-called professionals to eat their own damn food.
Have gotten a couple covid tests and both times the staff were very nice and I was in and out within ten minutes. I got (negative) results within 2 days both times.
Based on labor and delivery unit; Had a csection, I strongly informed everyone in the operating room I didnt want the student to do any of the procedure. They didnt listen to me. The student did it all. The hospital is very lucky that there was no complications, or they would have been sued very hard.
Thankfully never been ill enough to be a patient in a hospital for a long time, but quite a few visits to this emergency. I have not had to wait any longer here than I had to over the years at Civic or St.Jos. Once waited at Civic from 6pm to 3am. Have always been treated well here. I agree the conversation at intake in emerg. can be heard by most of the people waiting in the room. Today I had a medical procedure and from the volunteers to the nurses to the Doctor... was treated with kindness and respect and any questions or concerns I had were answered politely, even tho running late due to other emergencies. The rooms and washrooms spotless and well stocked. I think from reading some of these comments, that there should be a way to voice concerns to the hospital management and have the situations dealt with as am not sure how the problem can be solved on a review site...and some of them seem serious. Hopefully things will get back on track and we can all be proud of our hospital and the staff... because with the new building, all the new technology and new hire Doctors we could be.
I went in to have my wisdom tooth looked at because the pain was unbearable. Told them my pain was 8 out of 10. Four hours later still no help. Total anguish by this point. Had to leave to get relief as I couldn't bear the pain anymore. No sympathy from this hospital. I do not recommend. Go to Mattawa or Sturgeon Falls and don't waste your time. Millions wasted in North Bay.
If I could give this hospital 0 stars for their night staff I would. The night staff of emergency were awful on March 8th, 3am -ish. I was violently ill and dehydrated. I don’t want to hear anything about under staffed.. the waiting room was completely empty but I was still stuck until 7am for treatment. The nurses were rude and more interested in standing around their station gossiping. The only one who treated me decently & like a human was the lady who put my bracelet on. They refused to give me ice chips to wet my mouth. I had to run to the bathroom & run water to wet my mouth so I wouldn’t dry heave. The biggest insult was my nurses’ comment about how it wasn’t appropriate to have my child there.. we’re military & don’t have anyone close by to rely on. It was purely ignorant. Easy to be ignorant & make comments when you don’t see the price, but someone pays for your taken for granted freedom. She had no business making comments when she has no understanding about our family dynamic & the challenges we face! They have all these signs about respect, well respect goes both ways!!! The day staff on the other hand is a 5! My husband even commented coming back you could tell a big difference!
I was in the psych ward do to a accidental overdose. I am not using my real name The staff in this ward are cruel arrogent and disrespecful to patients. They have specific hours a patient can ask questions. They did not give me access to my personal items Appears most of them hate their jobs. One male nurse was.kind. Head of psychiatry a tall female is extremely arrogent when I told her my meFIXEDmory from the night I came in she said that was s lie. Discharged the next day. Feel this department should be monitored very carefully. They may be under staffed . Perhaps they could go under cover at a different hospital, evaluate their proceduress. This hospital needs to be FIXED
I'm a 69 year old man from Toronto recently moved, (2 months ago), to NB to retire. I am extremely impressed by the Healthcare in NB from both the Nurse Practitioner and the Hospital. They are very, professional, and thorough. Service is very quick! I have some of the normal complaints of an older person, referred to the Hospital by my nurse practitioner, and have had two visits to the Hospital for tests, and follow up. I'd be still in a waiting room in Toronto if I were there! Best Health Care in Canada!!!
Nurses in paediatrics are horrible. They place my new born baby my fiancé and myself in this 10 by 5 room. And then proceeded to say that my fiancé needs to bottle feed instead of breast feeding and that latching isn’t going to work for her. I am so glad I am moving out of this hell whole of a city.
No offense to anyone at the hospital in particular, but my son had eye surgery in Toronto due to lack of specialists locally. Ge went to the emergency to get it checked, they did a quick exam and sent him home. Whe the pain pinecaled, I drove him back. He insisted to see the eye specialist (not so passive this time). The doctor( dr vejay, awsome dude by the way) came and ddntified a rental tear. Brought him to Toronto again at the western hospital. Thank you Dr vj. If not for your visit and recommendations son could have been blind in other eyes. Thank you kind sir for saving my sons sight
Scheduled for days surgery with Dr. C Dowding April 30, 2021. From the moment I arrived at the hospital until I left my experience was fantastic. First greeted by a very friendly receptionist in Day Surgery Dept. Wait time was very short before being called in by a nurse. She was laughing as the nurses were having a humour moment which was nice to see. In the midst of so much uncertainty and the pandemic they are all dealing with, was nice to see them working with their spirits up while still acting in a professional manner. My nurse was very kind, courteous and informative regarding the reason for my visit and what to expect during and after my procedure. Didn’t wait long until I was taken to the unit and an IV was started, given a warm blanket and waited for the next step. While It was waiting I watched the nurses interacting with other recovery patients, and they were all in wonderful moods, and giving great services to those being discharged. I was treated with dignity, respect and the best nursing care from the moment I arrived until discharged. I have always had wonderful experiences each time I’ve visited the hospital in the past, but never acknowledged it. Thank you to the staff at NBRHC for your kind and compassionate care I received today and past visits.
The staff are very good in the ER. I came here since I am a student at Nipissing University and was stuck on where to see a physician. My family physician is all the way in Ottawa. I found the staff being helpful. Looking forward to coming to the hospital for my nursing program clinical placement. Only giving a 4 for improvement in wait time in the ER like have more that 1 physician in the ER and have better information on how long you are waiting will also help. Life is difficult in the emergency room.
We are all aware of how bad this hospital is with some services provided. That being written, I have to five fat stars to the staff in diagnostic imaging, especially CT, ECHO and ULTRASOUND. They are amazing. So personable, with a sense of humour and they calm you right down if you have anxiety. Keep up the great work guys
Got a chunk of stone in the eye. It was a crazy slow night, the assessment and check in was quick. Then sat for 4 hours in a room without so much as a nurse checking in on me. As I constantly had to wipe my eye for the excessive watering, barely able to see. Thoigh I could hear the nurses chit chat about their husbands, daughters, a friends new born, and all kinds of laughter. I considered leaving and waiting until I could find a drive to another hospital the following day, and hopefully not have permanent eye damage.
Hi I went to the hospital to have a CT scan of my chess that my hart DR. in Sudbury ordered, it was set up for the 29 of August at 2:00 PM and the nurse asked me who my family DR. was and I told her it was my Heart in Sudbury that ordered the CT scan and she said DR. Costa Vitali and I said yes said and she said I will fax him the results. My appointment was to day Sept. 11/at 10:20 am, When I ask him how the CT came out he checked and said he has not received the results as of to day so what is wrong with North Bay Hospital. Are they all to lazy to do there jobs because they don't seam to be to busy Ken Butler,( Does it take13 days to send a fax to Sudbury) there is something wrong here.
Staff are akin to dictators. Won't listen when you tell them to stop as the pain is unbearable, and also screw up constantly. My girlfriend would rather an infection than attend this hospital and deal with these horrible people. She could hear them talking and laughing about her from the hallway. Unprofessional, heartless and cruel. They are never held accountable, and strongly advise seek alternatives!
Great doctors and nurses. My dad has been in a few times for heart problems before going to Sudbury. One downside is too many admin staff, need more real staff!
If I can give it 0 star, I would. This place is unorganized and slow and their staff is extremely rude. If you don't like working their then quit. And a little tip to the nurses: be more quiet when you speak poorly about your patients. Truly disgusting.
I am well enough to now weighty review. I was into the emergency three times the beginning of the year. Walk-in once them twice by ambulance. I never had a problem, the nurses and doctors were on the ball all the time. The nurses couldn't have been more accommodating. Any time I needed assistance they were there. I could keep going on how well I was treated. Now the reason I only gave 4 stars. The food was horrible. I know food in hospitals are never good but this was above horrible. I didn't expect a five star Restaurant but something palatable.
Only took me 45 mins total to get ultrasound and x-rays done. Every person I interacted with was friendly and helpful and made me feel at ease and welcome. Lots of signs everywhere for directions as well.
Worst experience every time I go up there to the ER the nurses who don’t care and mock and make fun of you within earshot. I couldn’t believe what I was experiencing and hearing well trying to receive medical care. There is no such thing as bed side manner at the ER department
Went to Emergency Room due to extreme tooth pain. Wait times were long due to being very busy and we'll, it's the ER. However, the nurse who brought me in to take vitals said he might be able to take away the pain while I wait. Something learned at a seminar. (Tooth pain they usually can't to anything to immediately remove the pain). The nurse came back with a special kind of glue and applied to my tooth once dry and it instantly took the pain away. The staff at this hospital are truly amazing and care about their patients. Just wish the hospital didn't keep taking advantage of these workers and expecting them to do so much more then they should have to just to save money. Staff, absolutely awesome!
Horrible wait. Four hour wait when there was only three people ahead of me. Nurses were not helpful. When asking a question was talked down too. And they said they would be in in a minute and never came. After another 45 min wait. I left I do understand having to wait while not urgent cases go ahead. But when six or seven nurses are sitting at the desk area chatting about the night before and cannot answer my question. That to me is an issue. And we also received a call to discuss this night while I was at work and advised the person on the phone that I would love to discuss but could not right now and asked them to call me back that night to discuss and then never received a call back.
healthcare has taken a massive cut so quality of our healthcare has gone down the toilet. however, somethings shouldn't have to be related to budget cuts- like medical competence and bedside manner for example. This hospital is one of the worst I've ever experienced and HEARD about. If you talk to anyone in North Bay, chances are they avoid this hospital at all costs, driving to other cities to get proper care. I've been here 3-4 times and every visit was a total waste of time. The only upside was that if coming early morning, chances are the wait times are good - you will be in and out fast. However, the quality of doctors and nurses and admin is another story. Most nurses stand around gossiping about nothing, they are also inexperienced and leave nursing students alone to do their jobs which results in the wrong readings (IE blood pressure taken incorrectly by a student). Most of the doctors are total garbage which seem to hate their jobs and people in general. Lack of empathy and concern, lack of taking patient concerns seriously. I understand not being able to request specific tests due to cost and determining severity of a situation, but rushing people out and not even addressing their concerns? I have heard HORROR stories from people having their family members develop serious illness, infection or even die because of the care provided at NBRHC. There are a few doctors that are great, but chances of you getting them are slim to none. Real issue about confidentiality too. Some doctors leave doors open and talk loudly about your concerns (Like Dr. Daley) which should be private information. Hospital appears clean and also empty. Wonder why.... My mother who has healthcare problems avoids this place as much as possible and drives to toronto for proper care. The few times she has been in this ER they nearly killed her. She is on blood thinners and twice she was given medication that interacted with her blood thinners. We found out the correct info from the pharmacist which was more useful than the doctors and nurses. Another time her vein almost burst because of an incompetent doctor who didnt know how to do an IV properly. I'm guessing the worst of the worst is sent to work the ER because no one else wants to do it. AVOID
Recently went in to emergency with my mother. The wait time was excessive, and very frustrating. That being said the nurses (mike and a woman with short dark hair, sorry didn’t catch your name) were both very kind once we finally got in. The doctor was good too. Just need to improve the wait time.
Absolutely the rudest staff ever. I’m so sick of hearing that the health care profession is so under staffed. I watched so much socializing going on the Doctor was great but the girls at the desk were awful. If you don’t like your job quit and try and pull that attitude at any other company and see what happens. You bunch of over paid under worked ignorant pathetic excuse of a health care workers. If your job could be replaced by a robot or computer I’d vote for that any day
Brought my disabled mother to help her bring her sick boyfriend a few personal items, upon checking in and having temperature checks and covid checks and calling ahead to confirm we were both allowed to visit at the same time, we were told only one person could go and it had to be her, they wouldn’t let me help Cary the heavy bag she had and asked me to leave the hospital. This is not the first time having issues with poor care and service. Few days earlier when her boyfriend was previously released when “ all tests came back clear” they wheeled him to the taxi and walked away without helping him only to see him fall trying to get into the taxi in the snow and slush. Same evening he was rushed back only to find out he had pneumonia ( negative covid) so they then decided to admit him. The worst hospital I’ve ever been to. What a waste of money north bay!
I just called emerge... The nurse on duty who answered the phone —KERRY—treated me with such disrespect when all I did was simply ask if there had been a doctor on call ... (this is prior to sitting in the waiting room since 10:30pm)— after she continued to take her tone of voice out of context she then hung up. I’m sorry but whoever you are KERRY, I hope you receive the exact same disrespect you continued to treat me with the next time you seek medical help... I feel sorry for you.
My partner went to the hospital for mental health support and they strapped him to a bed for 6 hours without giving him any food or water for the entirety of his stay, which was an overnight stay. He was suicidal and a danger to himself and they did not admit him to the psych ward for the minimum of 72 hours. This hospital is absolutely disgusting for how they treat mentally ill patients.
Absolutely ridiculous that my partner is double vaxed and can’t stay with me in the hospital. I have a lot of anxiety and don’t like being alone.
