First off let me say I don't drive 35 miles one way to see just any physical therapist, we LOVE Karissa @ First Step Therapies and the caring environment she & her office manager provide. My child has a condition that benefits from physical therapy during all of growth development, and we have seen many therapists in various settings over the years. He started seeing Karissa 3 years ago and we have chosen to follow her to Totem Lake as she starts her own clinic because of the care that she gives. She has a huge heart for kiddos, and is very up to date on best practices, open to new ideas, and works closely with some of the lead researchers in the area for child development & physical therapy. Also, she HEARS us, and customizes the sessions to work towards improvements that are important to our family, is very capable, and does not let my son manipulate her to get out doing the work. I can 100% wholeheartedly recommend her for any pediatric physical therapy needs. Also having experienced years of medical billing issues at various offices; First Step Pediatrics has been a wonderful experience with prompt billing, statements, and easy online payments. Being in the vicinity of Evergreen hospital gives the location easy freeway access and parking is never an issue.

We are taking our 17 month old daughter to Karissa for the first time today. Karissa has been great in motivating her to take steps. She's gained a lot of confidence through the games and toys that Karissa introduced to her and already made some progress in learning to walk. we're looking forward to working with her again in our next coming session. Highly recommend!

Pediatric physical therapy is one of the domains which requires individuals with great passion, exceptional skill in diagnosis, and the ability to teach movement to kiddos from birth to young adulthood, and sometimes beyond. Karissa has taken the step towards achieving specialist certification as a Pediatric Certified Specialist by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. Even sitting for the exam is a monumental achievement, and I have no doubt that she will achieve and carry this certification as proof of her skills. Her independent, specialized clinic is equipped with tools that are designed just for the wee ones who need a little help moving about and exploring the world. They will love the woodland decorations and a clinic tailored to them with lower treatment tables, mirrors, sinks, and more designed specifically for them. I highly recommend Karissa and First Step Pediatric Therapy! Karissa did PT with my 10 month old daughter after she fractured her femur. Karissa is incredibly kind, caring, friendly, patient, knowledgable, and helpful. My daughter is very shy and takes a long time to be comfortable with new people. Karissa was so great with her! She took the time to get to know my daughter and her personality, and she catered her physical therapy activities to her interests to continuously keep her engaged and motivated. Karissa was such an important part of my daughter's recovery, and I am so grateful for her care!!
