You will see the feddbacks of people like you who bought the services of Dalhousie Student Health & Wellness Centre (Psychologist) in Dalhousie (Canada).
At present the business has a rating of 2.5 out of 5 and the rating has been calculated on 94 reviews.
You must have seen that the average score it has is really scarce, and it's based on a very large number of opinions, so we can say that the assessment is very reliable. If people have bothered to give their score when they are pleased with the business, is that it works.
As you know, we don't usually bother to put reviews when these are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Psychologist is included in the category of Doctor.
Just had the worst doctor appointment with Dr. Connolly. She was rude and told me that my illness that is impairing my life was normal, and that I just needed to take more time off than other people. This is not normal. Get doctors who know what they’re talking about, and ones who aren’t extremely rude.
Terrible. No one here seems to even care about the patient's, their wellbeing, or feelings.
This clinic does not help Dal students. As a Dal Student, I've tried to schedule appointments online only for my appointments to be denied for unknown reasons. Not sure why Dalhousie promotes good student health and wellness yet denies their students any help with their mental needs or concerns. I feel like I'm not getting any help at all, which is something nobody should be feel. If you're a Dal student, do yourself a favor and look for another clinic.
I have been a patient at the Clinic for many years. I have always been treated with courtesy, and as promptly as the circumstances permit.
Didn't feel listened to. Felt rushed. Staff almost seem they don't really care to be there.
Great experience!
They rush you out 9 minutes in.. whether you've addressed your issue or not
I don't even know why this clinic operates. It is terrible
As a student I have very little choices on clinics. The receptionist are awful, few doctors actually help and will listen- its very much "you're wasting our time, get out of my office" kind of attuitude. The other day I got a call regarding test results even though I was told they were urgent, I was basically told I'd have to wait more then a month to see someone to discuss them- she made a snide comment about if it's not cancer then it's not urgent and upon asking for her name she hung up on me. After calling back and talking with a nurse I was basically told to stop worrying that 'everything' was fine and to not waste the doctors time. I know that they're swamps but theres no care or compassion. I'm hesitant as is to come to a clinic now I'll make sure to avoid them all together.
I waited 30 minutes on phone for 2 times and nobody answered
Extremely poor reception staff. I visited here for the first time and once I got through the wait I realized that I had my expired health card and left my new one in the car which was parked at the end of the street. The girl at the front desk was really understanding at first and said she’d get everything going while I got my new one from my car. Then as I was walking away and tell her I’ll be back in 10 minutes, she says she decided that I should have to wait again in the line and that 10 minutes would be too long (Even though it would likely take me longer to go to the washroom and back). I wouldn’t care if she said it from the get go, or even said it in a kind way. But going back on your word and something you offered in such a rude and unapologetic manner is downright unprofessional and a total waste of time. Very disappointing experience.
Although I really do like my doctor, Amanda Crosby, I have to say she is absolutely the only reason i still go to this clinic. Yes, the staff behind the front desk have pretty much bad every very time I've gone in for the past three years (for perspective, I'm at the clinic on average once a month as I'm currently on three prescriptions + my dealings with chronic sinus drippage). Calling in to make an appointment is near to impossible. I was on hold for 35 minutes to then hear from the receptionists to continue to hold. Then after another 14 minutes, i was hung up on. Called back and put on automatic hold for another 15 min, to finally hear another actual human voice from the other end that was once again about to put me on hold more before I quickly took no for an answer (no i will not hold, seeing as you or one of your colleages hung up on me 15 minutes ago when I had previously been holding for 35 minutes.) She then retorted with attitude that I in fact had only been on hold for 15 (with her specfically) bc she didnt listen to a word I said about being hung up on (but this is typical from them so....) Also, if you go to the clinic 10-15 min before its scheduled time and it's very busy in the clinic, instead of checking in as soon as you arrive you must wait to do so with their ticket system (just to sign in.) When it's super busy, it can often take longer than 10-15 minutes of waiting for your number to be called up, where you get patroined for being "late" to your docters appointment. It's just noooooot run well at all!! I'm a third year dal student. Reviewing these google comments I am seeing a steady pattern of people with good reviews being adults with families, and the more negative ones from recent graduates/students. I understand that the reception job here has got to be one of the most stressful jobs, but clearly there have been persistent issues for years with the quality of service, and no one has done anything to help either the patients or the receptionists have a better experience at Dal Health. Step up Dal health, sincerely the students.

I'm boggled by the number of negative reviews. There are a few doctors that indeed run behind schedule, but they usually have the more complex patient situations. One string of reviews involves feeling like they're being run through an assembly line, the other that they're waiting too long. Your medical appointment is either going to be always prompt and always cursory, or potentially delayed and but thorough; you can't get both prompt and thorough unless every appointment is booked to be unreasonably long. As for the complaints about the front staff, I can only imagine that the unhappy patients are either seeking appointments on and for special days when all the staff I've ever dealt with are off, or they've mistaken which clinic they're reviewing. My experience with them has always been positive, especially with Omar. Personally, I've been with Dr. Jain for a number of years now, and I have nothing but good to say about her. The wait is never unreasonable, and she's always been on top of my health situation and balancing conflicting priorities. My wife and sons are with Dr. Connell. Her wait times are often far longer, but that comes with doing pregnancy and childbirth care, and we plan around it. She delivered both of our children and has provided exemplary care to them and my wife, staying on top of all concerns.
I've had great care from this clinic for more than 20 years now. I've seen multiple doctors and nurses and virtually all have been knowledgable and compassionate in my treatment.
They are wasting my time
Always behind!
love my doctor but front desk staff are rude, inconsiderate, and make you wait on hold for 30 minutes.
Made an appointment, and physician was right on time. Good service
I really like this clinic, because they are super efficient and friendly. You grab a number when you walk in and wait your turn. There's not been too much of a wait every time I've been there. My Doctor is awesome, and I've heard great things about some of the other ones. It's also in a nice modern building.
I am giving 1 star as I can't give Zero. They are taking advantage of students needs. Unethical practices are performed here. Unfortunately I can't go anywhere else as I am student here.
Wait times were unreasonably long and the people working in the front desk were extremely rude and cold. Don’t waste your time here.
My family and I have visited the clinic numerous times in the last few months. Front reception staff have been courteous and the Dr is usually on time. We’re pleased with the service.
Horrible system! Doctor asks to book a follow up appointment online, staff decline! I also called and updated my phone number twice and eventually they charged me for not picking up for a phone appointment but it figured out that they keep calling my old number!
Had a good experience every time I've been there. The nurse service is also really good, and saves me from getting full doctors appointments. It can get really busy sometimes though
Refused to write me a doctor's note when I had completely lost my voice and had been lying in bed for three days. She said I could have strep throat and said I should go to class. Felt rushed and not listened to.
I have been a patient of Dal Health Clinic since I started at Dal in 1995. Now my husband and children are patients there now too. This clinic is excellent. Even when we can't get into our on doctor, who is incredible, the other doctors at the clinic are all wonderful. They listen to our concerns and address any issues we are having.
My family doctor (and for my wife and new baby) has been JUST the doctor I've needed in Dr. Prokai!! She understands me as a medical resident (and my irrational fears and thoughts), my wife as a nurse, and how we can irrationally worry about our first child. Very happy To be at this clinic, and will continue until my doc retires! Sure we may have to wait awhile now and then (because she's thorough with other patients too), but she cares so much and fits our personalities so well, I don't know if we could have a better doctor :) I have had no problems with the reception staff over my 6 visits. They've gotten my appointments right when booking over the phone and have been courteous. I only give it 4 stars because I didn't have a great experience when I was a walk-in patient once, but any doctors can be hit or miss day to day, especially when doing walk-ins.
Racial profiling at the front desk? The staff at the counter is the worst ever. People who visit the health center do so due to illness, seeking relief and comfort. The people at the reception achieves the opposite: making you feel worse and stressed. After so many negative reviews, the authorities in the health center should do something about the front desk staff to ensure that their service is friendly.
I came home for the summer from my university in Ontario and wanted to get an IUD before I went back. After waiting 6 weeks to hear from the referral office in Bridgewater that it would be 6 months for even a consult, I reached out to Dal Student Health after hearing good things from a friend. After sending my referral over, I was seen within a week by Dr Robinson. She was absolutely fantastic and was very thorough with everything during the consultation. She got me in the NEXT day for the procedure, and was very quick during the procedure making sure to let me know what she was doing! I was taken in early for my appointment both times, and was treated kindly by the front desk staff despite their phones ringing off the hook and people in their faces. I would HIGHLY recommend checking out this clinic if you are in need.
I’ve been seen here for 18 years, I never had a bad experience once. I found everyone to be very accommodating and compassionate.
Quality of care is excellent. BUT it's difficult and frustrating at best to get someone on the phone: I've been put on hold for 10-15 minutes and get hung up on.
I've been a patient at this clinic for 8 years and have had very good care from every physician that I've seen here. I've also had mostly good experience with the nursing staff and admin staff. They don't have walk-in service but they do have an on-call physician available everyday for urgent issues as well as nursing staff who you can see for minor but urgent needs. My most recent experience was excellent. The nurse, Shaylee, helped my 5-year-old daughter who was very afraid of needles, to have a good experience while getting her routine immunizations. I am grateful to be a patient at this clinic. Keep up the good work!
The doctors are great but the adminstration is frequently rude depending on who you get. I have been coming here for 7 years since I moved to Halifax as a student. I really like my doctor but they are chronically overbooked. I have waited up to an hour for an appointment I scheduled three weeks prior. I usually try to show up ~10-15 minutes early to register on time but sometimes they don't even get to me by my appointment time.
Let me say that this is the worse clinic by far. I'm a student at dal which is why I was suggested this clinic. The front of house staff are rude, inconsiderate, and dishonest. They will tell you one thing and then double back and say something else. I was informed that nothing notable on test results only to have the doctor come back and say something else entirely and I should of came in sooner. Any time I have tried to make an appointment it is more then four weeks to see someone, if you tell them you can't wait that long they say to go to emergency. If you do manage to get in very few doctors at the clinic listen to patients and lack all compassion - it is very much you only get 10 minutes of my time and get out of my office. I tried to report a doctor for his malpractice to the head of the office- was told they were unavailable and to email them...still no response over a week later. Trying to get files transfered to your family doctor is next to impossible and there seems to hidden fees and hoops to jump through so they can basically hold your medical files hostage. What ever you do , DO NOT GO TO THIS CLINIC
I'm surprised by the abundance of one star reviews. This is the best medical clinic I have encountered in my life. In addition to my family doctor, I've seen several physicians here and have been (nearly) uniformly impressed with the care I've received. Some physicians tend to lag behind scheduled appointment times, but largely I find this is less extreme than in other clinics, and some of the doctors are astonishingly punctual yet don't make me feel rushed out the door.
Doctors rush you and can’t be bothered to show up when the clinic opens
This is a joke of a health care service. The receptions staff is cold and not welcoming. Trying to make an appointment over the phone seems completely dependent on what staff member answers that phone, as some seem to not know how their own system works. This is truly disappointing from a university health care service that many students rely upon.
The receptionists were chitchatting and I was totally ignored for three minutes at the frontdesk. No explanations, no apologies. So rude.
Worst service in the world and probably universe. The health care system is just a joke and the clinic is nothing but a walking-talking example of that. Takes years to get an appointment with a doctor. Had a serious torn ligament. The way that treated me is humiliating and embarrassing to the whole system. Don' t know if I will ever be able to walk properly, but the system is a great joke upon humanity.
Very helpful during this difficult time.
Terrible. They're incredibly rude and don't listen to your symptoms let alone assess them. they just want to push you out.
I cannot stress this enough- DO NOT go to Dalhousie Health Services if you are looking to receive help. However, if you are looking to cause yourself more pain and suffering, then you're in the right spot. My friends and I have experienced first hand: multiple misdiagnoses, condescending micro-aggressions, breech of confidentiality and generally the worst service possible. This is a combination of both the front desk service and the doctors.
It was rushed and the doctor barely listened to me and chose not to answer some of my questions as she claimed she was in a rush
If you come here, don't bother making an appointment as they won't honour the time anyways. There are frequently 1+ hour waits, even if you have an appointment. The old woman at the reception is the rudest person I've ever met; she should be fired. Skip this place and find another clinic unless you have hours to spare.
Nurses are rude! Some of them would be happy to mock your condition if it means they get a chuckle. And getting a doctor to call you back is a nightmare. Expect to follow up 3 times. They got basic things like my name and email wrong, leading to delayed medical procedures, and get defensive and aggressive when you call them out on it.
Love the services offered. Very professional and caring. I am not a big fan of the front desk clerks. They openly gossip about their gripes with clients and doctors within earshot of both. Very unprofessional.
I went there today to get my Covid-19 shot. The location was well marked and organized. There were alot of helpful happy staff. The building was very clean and accessible to everyone. The washroom would be accessible for anyone. The doors to the building were nice and wide lots of room for folks with wheel chairs. Good location for a clinic.
Had a great experience with a young lady at the reception (I think Jordan). She is always pleasant, smiles and feels like she actually enjoys her job and cares. Need more like her! A keeper!
Literally the worse service I have ever gotten in health care. I had an appointment and waited over an hour despite having a booking. Also saw other people arrive with later appointments get to go in before me.
Wow...disorder everywhere. Third time visit today and worse ever! Doctors rude and complain about my English.
Front desk is extremely rude. Ironically, they have a sign asking people to be respectful towards the front desk staff. Doctor's are okay, depending on who you get. Some doctors will act like they're giving out money when giving prescriptions. Some will ask you a question in different ways to figure out if you're lying about your medical condition. My experience is that male doctors are much nicer than female doctors. Sounds sexist, but that's my experience after going to this clinic for 5 years. So, really depends on who you get. If a doctor is unavailable, you can see a nurse.
It felt rushed and impersonal. When you first arrive you take a number and sit, they may or may not get to you before your scheduled time. Once in with the doctor, I felt rushed to describe what was going on and what I needed. I felt like a number in a line and they were working to get through the line as quickly as possible. I heard a doctor tell off a patient who was called multiple times because they had needed to go to the bathroom. It was not a pleasant experience.
Been seeing Dr Robinson since I was a student at Dal. The whole family uses DHS. Dr Robinson has delivered both of our children. Nothing but fantastic service. I find them quite organized and are always quick to get our specialty appointments booked and soecial testing booked. We are fortunate to have such a great doctor, when I know so many do not even have access to one.
Horrible experience. Have visited this office twice and both doctors did not even assess my symptoms thoroughly. They rush you out of the office, and are very careless.
I attended the flu shot clinic om October 21 ... the site was well set up and the service was 5 star ... in and out in the minimal time and the students working delivering the shots were fantastic ... well done
Update: they dont code your procedures properly or notice when you renew a dal ins policy. You have to watch them, the amount of errors they make is exhausting. --------------- Does not work smoothly with folks with legal diagnosis for ADHD from other countries who need their medication and are not drug seeking. Beware of Canada's strict viewpoint and bully behavior that you may receive. To find a better provider is a hunt and would required calling several clinics. Anyone have a better way to navigate the system, please comment here.
Very rude reception staff They don’t deserve to sit behind the desk. Unprofessional, inconsiderate, no manners whatsoever.
By far the worst service I’ve ever received while at a doctors office. Waited four months for an ultrasound and was just supposed to call my doctor for the results... called and had to talk to one of the nurses who told me she wasn’t allowed to give me the results over the phone... then proceeded to give me attitude and sass while telling me “the results look fine”, save yourself the trouble and just go to the doctor somewhere else.
BEST. VASECTOMY. EVER. Quick, professional staff. The whole process was a breeze. I'm astounded at the 1 star reviews. I definitly recommend this clinic
Honestly the receptionist(?) staff is really helpful and has been very knowledgeable about how to help my issues with billing and msi. Also I really like my doctor here. 5/5 they are nice
The WORST place to receive treatment. It’s not so much the front staff that I have had a bad experience with but the DOCTORS. You know those med students at the bottom tier of their peers in med school, those that perhaps applied 3-4 times before getting in and when they finally made it they struggled to pass through med school, yeah those barely passed Doctors are employed at Dal health. These doctors are greedy, rude and lack knowledge on many diagnoses. They’ll in fact tell you that a disease you’ve struggled with for 10 years is perhaps a misdiagnosis. I tried so hard to like this clinic and after trying one doctor after the other I have concluded that this place literally employs the bottom Of the bottom, doctors who want high volume so they can get paid because of course they want to be compensated as doctors with doing absolutely nothing unlike their specialist peers who actually earn their well deserved salaries by researching. For these reasons I refuse to be seen by doctors who are unhelpful, rude, arrogant and lack any compassion what so ever. If I could I would repeal to the med school board to have their distinctions removed for how awful they are as doctors. The worst of the worst was the doctor who revealed a doctor patient confidential information about a patient to another patient. Seriously AVOID.
I have never had a problem with the front desk staff or doctors at this clinic. Can't help but think the negative reviews are posted by entitled students who don't get their way. A shame.
Absolutely the worst mental health sytem I've ever experienced. They do first appointments for counselling on a walk-in basis, and when I went in 45 minutes after this place opening I was told that they were already full for the day. They advised me to come back the next day and try again... This system solely serves istelf and not the clients. Very disappointing to see complaints of long wait times, rude receptionists and some inattentive physicians after over a year of people reporting bad experiences.
I’ve been coming to this clinic since I started at Dalhousie in 2014. I have a medical history, so I’ve been here many times. While my experiences with the doctors have almost always been fine (hence the 2 stars I gave), I have only once or twice walked away not frustrated with the front desk staff. They are almost invariably unprofessional, incompetent, and even rude. One day, i was calling for urgent care, in an extreme amount of pain, and was hung up on repeatedly by the same receptionist. I spent 45 minutes calling, waiting on hold, and being hung up 3 times after stating my issue. It was only after I asked for the receptionists’ name that she answered my questions. Another time, I was offered a same day appointment at 10:20am. I told the receptionist that I would need to leave the office before 11 as I had another appointment on campus then. She said that was fine, but then the doctor was running late the same receptionist told me I wouldn’t be called in until after 11, and I would be charged for the appointment if I did not wait at the office until 11 (which would make me late for my other appointment). She did not tell me this over the phone. You really have to learn by experience at this clinic, because unlike health professionals, the front desk staff are not there to help you.
Basically should wait round an hour although got an appointment. :)
Everyone I have dealt with here has been lovely, kind, and patient to deal with from reception to counseling to doctors.
The employees who seat at the 1st floor (1st floor) are very rude and uncooperative. Got frustrated to see their rude behaviour.
