Here you have all the reviews of real people like you who purchased the products and services of Marine Atlantic - Channel-Port aux Basques Ferry Terminal (Psychologist) near Channel-Port aux Basques (Canada).
At this moment this firm gets a rating of 4.2 stars over 5 and the score was based on 127 reviews.
You may have noticed that it reaches an feddbacks average is very high, and it is based on a large number of scores, so we can think that the score is very faithful. If there are many people who bothered to give their review when they've done well with the service, is that it works.
You know that we do not usually stop to write feddbacks when these are correct and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or issue...

After arriving from Nova Scotia, lovely little town to start your West to East exploration of the island portion of the province of Newfoundland-Labrador.
Loves it
Good. Can be slow at times.
Cruise was really nice. No issues loading my vehicle or boarding the vessel.
Loved this experience!! We travelled at the night and got a cabin. So well worth it, because you can basically sleep the ride away. The departure was 11:45pm and you are expected to arrive 2 hours early by 9:45pm. Don't be late because that is when they start loading the vehicles. The bad part is if you arrive too early, you get put on deck 1 which is kinda the basement of the ship. It's a tight space and you are the last to leave the ferry in the end so you are stuck 20-30mins extra on the ferry waiting to leave. The cabin rooms were clean and comfortable. There is a bar seating area to hang out and have some drinks before the ferry leaves. There are some playroom for toddlers.
Very helpful people here.... They made the trip very easy.
Crossing was on time and the cabin/sleeper was comfortable and clean.
Great place customer service good
Reserved seating is very uncomfortable, food onboard is limited and below what I would consider standard for a 7-hour trip
Highly recommend getting a cabin. Had a good experience, room and ship were very clean, and a very helpful crew.
Pleasant staff, clean room.
The terminal has wheelchair accessible washrooms, a little place for kids to play, and several seating areas. You can buy food at the little cafe. I had the bacon egger combo and it was fine. Nothing fancy but it's slightly better than what I expected from a terminal cafe. A good selection of juices available as well. There's also a little gift shop if you need last minute NFLD souvenirs.
Nice problem free ferry ride!!!
Great crossing despite being an overnighter without a cabin. Very efficient loading and on time departure
Great day for a ride back from a eventful trip to Newfoundland.
We booked too late, for a berth & sat up in reclining seat, trying to sleep..
Overpriced and quality of service was not very good. For a 12hr ride, they could put a little more effort into making it enjoyable for their guests.
TV in the room didn't work but otherwise fine
(Translated) Excellent services on the boat (Original) Excellent services sur le bateau
Expensive, customer service bad in solving problems. Charge me twice for ferry than reimburse me but didnt get money back right away.
Great facility
It's got clean spacious facilities
Im home! I'm home! Hello beautiful Newfoundland!
Accomodation was clean and comfortable
Nice and neat place whilst waiting to board your connecting ferry but unfortunately only Marine Atlantic"s own operated restaurant so food very expensive.
Very professional ferry service to get to the rock, restaurant was good but pricey, gift shop on boat, nice rooms with showers and nice sun deck on the boat. Also nice facilities at the ports too.
Nice place
I really like that Place Because it is New and it have a Fancy smoke detector with a Blue Light on it and My Mom and Dad makes fun and I Laghf and Giggle and Really the Best shading There
Friendly staff. I had a whole lounge to myself as there were only 8 cars on my crossing. I was seasick as it was rough seas with no weight on board. Schedule was bang on time. Everything seemed to be well cleaned and tidy!
Very nice and clean cabins and friendly staff
Ferry
This Ferry Terminal is pretty standard with lines of vehicles and trucks awaiting boarding. I have found the staff to be friendly and helpful and the crossing to be quite fun. We ended up renting a cabin as we were embarking on a long road trip and wanted to wake up in Sydney somewhat rested but it can be forgone as there are multiple areas to sit and ride out the voyage.
Excellent service if the wind isn't up.
Had a good trip across Cabot Straits on the overnight ferry, berth was very clean and had a good sleep. Very friendly and informative crew. Breakfast was good and reasonably priced.
Nice View Nice place.
Smooth ferry ride
This ferry was incredibly cold! Took the ferry at night and we were told it be cold but who on earth expects this kind of cold on their first go? We payed a bit over 200$ for a really late boarding time to get into a boat that was out of cabins. Only good thing is they let us In Early as we were only reserved for the next day.
Staff is wonderful! Crossing was fine with a 26 foot RV and pet. Ship was well maintained. I look forward to doing it again!
Could use a few public amenities, especially on the port aux Basque side. Be prepared for a long wait if the wind is blowing hard.
Great service
Good place too be
Excellent service, help us out
Slightly over priced but the new boats are awesome
Took the night crossing and booked the cabin. Room was super clean. Crossing was easy.
Better than the ferry terminal on the NS side.
Great Breakfast very generous with the portions and all you care to drink coffee with take away cups for the ferry!
Just perfect.
Bad food. No compassion for pets. Only choice so you gotta take it or fly to Newfoundland.
Very professional, reliable service. I have taken at least 20 trips over the course of 9 years and have never had a bad experience. Each vessel is clean and well equipped, with a very friendly and accommodating staff. I recommend bringing your own food however as the prices at the restaurant/ snack bar are very steep.
Great process and people.
One rude employe, all the others are very Nice. Cabins Cabins and beds very clean. During covid19 hoax , no restaurant service
Great way to travel on a nice summer day.
Good experience and lots of amenities on the ship for a hefty price
Pleasant crossing, great food and service. Clean cabins.
Great boat ride, little on the pricey side
(Translated) Excellent ferry service (Original) Excellent service de traversier
Awesome ferry ride recommend to anyone who lives or visting Newfoundland
Nice people on the ferry. Great staff and good crossing.
They do what they do. Was charged extra $25 to move a booking ahead 12h. Took them 5sec.
Excellent service, friendly and professional staff. Extremely clean.
Very good and professional staffs, restaurant was good, gift shop on boat, nice rooms in the ferry with showers, not much crowded in the early spring, resting area is clean, the staffs are friendly, suggest you to book ferry room when you are going in group.,
Everything is good
Great experience and an a very helpful staff. Hope to be able to come back soon.
We traveled at night on both of our crossings. It was a smooth sail. The reserved seats are comfortable but probably get a better sleep in a cabin. Bring a blanket to be comfortable throughout the night.
All assets are new and modern but could be more affordable which is the biggest downfall... most of the employees at marine Atlantic go above and beyond their duties on a regular basis and should be commended!
Only way too Newfoundland with out Flying .
Had a really great experience! Great bunk rooms and lovely on board restaurant.
Great friendly staff take excellent care of you.
First time to the 'Rock', ferry was pretty cool, I was lucky and got a cabin with a window. Wind had kicked up and she rolled a little during the trip, nothing crazy though. Got to Port Aux Basques early morning, the ferry staff got us sorted out real quick. Then I met the entry staff, you got to make sure you have your forms and plans sorted out or you could be delayed for awhile. Its a really tiny place and I didnt have a chance to look around because of the COVID. Let me tell you the roads are interesting, good sections for the most part, the bad sections have potholes that you can lose a tractor trailer in. ????
(Translated) Superb crossing. Very beautiful ship. (Original) Superbe traversée. Très beau navire.
The male workers behind the front service desk should help ladies with their luggage especially when it's heavy and you know we are struggling! I am disabled and it was listed on my information and I was offered no help at all! My 78yr old mother-in-law had to help me as 2 men behind the counter watched and chatted!!! Very disheartening...
Amazing trip. My trip should be on 22Dec at 11:45 am. But we received a call from the staff on 21 Dec 19:00 to tell me that the ferry on 22 Dec was canceled due to high wind. And 22 Dec 23:45 ferry will delay to 04:00. And we can go before 2:00 am. But we have no cabin from the change. But we are enjoying our cabin when we return. Very great experience. Very surprised that you should shower on the ferry. Thank you to all staff who work hard there.
Overpriced for what you get but it's the only way on the island
Dirty ! Staff standoffish
Excellent service and great food at the terminal.
Pricey
Clean bathrooms. Not nearly as nice as the North Sydney terminal.
Great ferry trip overnight from North Sydney. Walked out of terminal and caught the bus to St. John's. Couldn't be easier
Always an enjoyable experience. Thank you Marine Atlantic
(Translated) Ride the Marine Atlantic four times across the Strait of Capote, and get to the destination after one night of sleep. The boat is very large, and it is comfortable if you don't encounter wind and waves. It was raining on the day when I returned to North Sydney from the Basque Port for the second time. I waited for a few hours to check the ticket and board the boat. Unexpectedly, some of the staff were extremely inefficient, causing the cars in line to be unable to move. Instead, the car went up first.
Great service, friendly staff as always!!
Overpriced for the service you get.
Great boat ride and food on board
Very professional and friendly staff.
Amazing staff. The most helpful people in the Travel business by far. Thrilled.
Helpful staff and great service
Enough said
Very friendly staff in terminal and great crew on the boat. I was super sick after we left the dock, as I found out I do not have very good sea legs. One of the crew members stayed up with me to make sure I was alright and then changed my seat to make me more comfortable. I cannot thank her enough!!! I don't know what I would have done without her that night!
Very friendly people. Modern terminal alittle pricey.
This was a wonderful place, it was cool there , was a blessing, food was great and Views were terrific
Nice terminal with very courteous staff. The only reason for four stars is because it's not as nice as the terminal in North Sydney. No wifi or variety of seating areas.
spacious ship, smooth. cabins have thin walls. Generic food, well orchestrated loading/unloading. MUST be there 2 hours in advance
The staff is very pleasant and make your trip as comfortable and fun as they can with the little that they are given. They need entertainment in the daytime or it can get quite boring. If you are going on the night crossing I suggest you just get a berth and sleep and wake up refreshed on the other side.
Rooms are about 125, and if you dont have one you are not allowed to lay down anywhere, only sit up in the airplane type seats that tilt back barely, getting expensive now that the price is gone up
The terminals were always nice and clean. While waiting for our Ferry we decided to have lunch here and the food was okay. Nothing special but I was full afterwards and found it funny that everything had gravy. This terminal even had some historical exhibits, which was nice.
Well organized and really pleasant, helpful boarding crew both sides. The crossing was comfortable and quiet.
Bright, clean, and friendly staff.
Friendly folks..ship-shape ship. Way too expensive overnight berth. For the price they're asking it should come with hooker ;)
Functional and clean
Very comfortable night
The boat was beautiful It seemed clean and looked really nice. food is super expensive
(Translated) 7 hours to cross the sea, it is best to bring a sleeping bag on board, or you have to sit for one night. (Original) 7个小时渡海,上船最好带上睡袋,不然要坐一晚。
Awesome trip
The terminal is ok, but the ferry is very under staffed. They don't even clean the seats between ferry trips or replace the social distancing seat coverings. Which allows for very tight seating we felt very uncomfortable having people directly infront and behind us. Very disappointed Even after talking to the head Stewart on the ferry, she had more excuses then resolutions. Very disappointed.
Always friendly staff
Service is good and staff very accommodating.
Very good experience on the crossing for PAB to nova Scotia
Great crossing last night
Absolutely terrible. The ferry is always delayed and they will say it was weather related when there is no wind and sunny out
Remember the old days ( and the older but now for some reason No Good ) when the ferry would sale as long as the wind was below 100 miles an hour....
We experienced a first class trip from StJohns to Sydney.....water was smooth as glass and our seating arrangements were awesome....when we reserved, we didnt realize that we were in a sort of luxury area ($12.00 extra so very worth the $) and we had the top of the ferry with big comfy recliners and a view second to none.
ALWAYS VERY CLEAN. AND THE SAILING IS SPECTACULAR. STAFF VERY COURTEOUS AND APPROACHABLE TO TALK TO AND ASK QUESTIONS. VERY SMOOTH SAILING EVEN IN WINTER ???????? GET ON THE BOAT!!! IT'S WORTH THE TRIP ????????????????????
Smooth crossing, Friendly helpful staff, clean cabin.
Great service
Great trip.
Have to use it if you want to drive and get to Newfoundland across the ocean so not much choice but the service is good and the cabin beds are small but oh so comfortable!
Good experiences 2x I've traveled on Ferry as I have traveled to my furthest point in St. John's, New Fondland, Canada been fortunate from worst weather related delays..... Overall through Covid restrictions it was a pleasant experience.... Elvis Hernandez
Hard to book a cabin and preserved seating is not well better than general seating. Very cold inside, be sure to carry your sleeping bag. I found lots of people sleeping on the floor with sleeping mattress. Lots of spaces and clean and well maintained.
Very clean and comfortable, would have been nice to go outside or eat at the café, but due to Covid-19 all guests had to stay in their quarters
Big modern ferry. Cabins are very comfort.
I work there
Quick and efficient, staff is very professional.
Smooth crossing. Friendly staff.
Clean and professional
You got to ta cross the sea
Worst boat crossing ever
Good trip but long. We reserved our seats and in September it may not have been needed but if there were more people we would pay the difference to have our seat set On the return trip we took a cabin and this was money well spent as the seats would not have been a good place to sleep
I love that they are so accommodating to animals! Such wonderful service every time I board!
very clean, especially the restrooms. Everyone was very nice. free wifi and seating/waiting area within the terminal.
Great friendly service
With the covid 19 going on they are doing a great job!!
Great dog park for your furry friends.
Good service, comfy ride across the straits.
port aux basques side is much friendlier and more helpful than the north sydney side
Paid for reserved seating on a night Crossing. Lucky for me I got the section where the lighting does not get switched off so I could not get any sleep. There was no mention of this when I booked the seating online.
Saw dolphins and whales
Friendly staff, clean facilities. But way to expensive for a 6 hour ferry ride. Paying per person and per car seems like double dipping.
Good crossing, I miss the arcade we used to have as kids!
Went on 11pm overnight from Sydney Nova Scotia to Port aux Basques Newfoundland. Checking in was a breeze. Couple of questions, show some ID, prove covid vaccinations/exemptions,, get boarding pass. Boarding was easy, shoe boarding passes and visually ID everyone in the car. Loading the ferry was efficient and relatively quick. The ferry itself was a nice surprise.... Never boarded a ferry this size so don't know if the amenities are standard, but I was impressed. Leather seats fully reclined and included foot rest. Lots of room between seats. Each seat had a remote, and a USB charging port. Food from the small cantina was actually pretty good. More expensive than buying onshore, but if you're hungry, you could hardly do worse. Pizze was ready and fresh. The prepack refrigerated sandwiches were a cut above typical airline food, which is to say pretty decent Unloading was even quicker than loading. Short checkout... Complete a short questionnaire and show ID. Then you're free to go! All on all it was a pleasant ferry ride. Got to sleep while we travelled and woke up fresh and ready for the drive.
Beautiful new terminal
Took the ferry from Nova Scotia to Newfoundland (and back). All the staff from check in, boarding, concessions and cabin assignment were friendly, helpful and all appeared happy. It was a great experience, i would recommend to all.
I crossed with my two labradoodle dogs. They were afraid of the kennels and it was really stressful for me too. Attached is a picture of the kennel room on the MV Blue Puttees. You can see the large kennel space on bottom, medium in the middle, and small on top. This space is not designed very well - there could be much more room with just a little bit of welding and fabrication work. I recommend bringing a bungee cord or some rope to secure your dog’s kennel in place. The waves may move it or they could make it fall if it’s in the middle or top. There is a small pet relief area in the room (crushed stone with a garden hose to rinse). There was a wooden chair in there and also a security camera. Also a water cooler is in there as well (????).
Nice people
Ferry ride is long and tiresome. The lunch they handed us, roast beef sandwich and chicken wrap were not real meat and impossible to eat because of the smell and taste. One bite and into the garbage it goes. Had to make do with an Apple for the 6 hour duration.
Good crossing with friendly staff
Room was nice and clean to bad you had to stay in it
Worst ferry service in the world.
Food is expensive on the ferry nd we froze! It felt like the a/c was on full, no one told us you can ask for free blankets to borrow at the reception desk. You'll need it! but no other complaints. All the staff are soooooo warm and friendly and helpful. They all seem to love their job. It was refreshing. They joked and laughed with us and couldn't do enough. Clean. Lots of room to walk around. Great gift shop!! We didnt reserve seats or a cabin, no need. There are more than enough comfy reclining chairs. All within comfortable viewing distance of 3 large tv's. You can choose to watch sports or daytime TV or...take your own earbuds. They plug into your chair. I used my backpack ad a foot stool and had a great nap. The ferry was an adventure. A microcosm of NL.
We took the ferry from North Sydney to Argentia, then from Port aux Basques to North Sydney. During both trips employees were friendly and helpful. The cabins were clean and the food was decent for a ferry. Both boats left on time and arrived when they said they would.
Omg ! If you are mobility challenged like me the accessibility cabins are exquisite. Roll in shower everything really is perfection right down to assistants helping with your every need. This is the best accessibility ♿ I have seen since leaving southwest Ontario. I with there were services like this at every hotel
(Translated) The service is good. The waiting tome is long, sometimes. (Original) Le service est bon. Le waiting tome est long, parfois.

Was scammed out of $150. I left terminal to grab a bite to eat because there is no restaurant at the terminal. When I checked in there was no mention of an additional crossing. I gave my phone number with my ID and it was written on my manifest. Some manager decided to extort an additional $150 because they could not reach me saying they didn't have my number. Pretty sad I need to pay for Marine Atlantic mistakes. Thanks for making the crossing more expensive. Almost $900. Would really help to have food service as well.
Very simple, lots of help, friendly staff.
A once in a life time experience.
Very nice ferry to Newfoundland... Bring your own food though, the food on board is not great
We were going to 'grab a bite' at a local restaurant before signing into the ferry terminal a few hours before our crossing, thinking anything at the terminal errors be bland, cafeteria-style food. I ordered their liver and onions and was so very surprised to find out they liver was a very good portion, was well-cooked, and that the potatoes were fresh mashed (not creamed as I had feared). The whole plate was very hot.
Recent sailing was smooth but that was about it. On board amenities are slim. The crew had commandeered the passenger dining area due to covid. So that only left a small snack bar for passengers with very limited selection and no seating area. Could not the crew have eaten in shifts to free up the regular dining area? In the cabins, wifi was nonexistent, the TV and “radio” did not work on both crossings. On return trip, we arrived at PAB two hours before sailing only to have had to wait 30 minutes to get into the gate! Only two gates open, one for cars and one for transports and rv’s. There were at least two other gates that could have easily been open. When docked, everyone crowded around the elevators and stairways to disembark for half an hour. No social distancing then for sure. We travelled the ferry to the Magdalen Islands the month before and had a much better experience. Full restaurant seating, hot meals and better seating all round. Come on MA you can do better than that! Be advised, take your own food and entertainment with you on this ferry.
Love,the bar
Amazing hospitality from all the staff. The cabins are small yet cozy and very clean.
(Translated) Superb cross (Original) Superbe traverser
Love both ferry between North Sydney to Argentia and Port-aux-Basques to North Sydney.
Staff very good service best
Awesome trip! The whole experience was more than I could have hoped for.
It's certainly not like it used to be....what happened to the catering to the tourists, excitement and laughter? It's boring now. Takes the romance and excitement out of the journey. You will find all necessities however.
Awesome view
Nothing fancy. Gets you from A to B. If you need a cabin in the summer months make sure to book way in advance. Food is a little pricey too.
Clean and comfortable. I found staff to be friendly and the complimentary lunch during the pandemic to be decent. MV Highlanders is a fine vessel.
We traveled as a family with our dogs from NS-->NL-->NS through PAB this month and I want to rave about the excellence in customer service from the land and vessel staff. We had a personal trauma (lost a dog at Wreckhouse) and missed our return ferry while we searched for her (and found her!). I cannot thank Tracy enough for her continuous follow ups and ensuring we could be booked on the next vessel to get us on our way once all was well. Beyond customer service, the ferry is very clean and comfortable. We had a cabin both ways and it was wonderful in its comfort & amenities. At the cafeteria the breakfast/dinner was hot and delicious. I highly recommend Marine Atlantic and always enjoy my crossings.
We had reserved seating on deck 9. Top deck. We had an overnight crossing. The while Atlantic staff was kind and accommodating. They made sure my mom was very comfortable and we had everything we needed. The chairs we comfortable. I would not have been more comfortable in a sleeping berth. Some may be. But not even my mom took a sleeping cabin. It was very smooth and the whole process is amazing.
Always a pleasant experience. Clean spaces, decent food options even with restrictions in place and friendly staff. Learned this trip that booking a cabin is a good idea whether day or night crossing.
Very little to do. Food is overpriced and greasy.
Clean rooms but poor comunication
Crossing was great! Staff were polite and professional. The rooms were clean. Unfortunately the gift store and restaurants were all closed due to covid. We'll come back in a few years and see them and taste the food. We got on the waiting list at the last moment for a cabin coming back and got one. We felt like we won the lottery!
The Highlander staff were very friendly. The vessel was clean.
Paid extra for reserved seating, its in an inclosed area, Unfortunately it faces thee back of the boat, which in itself is not bad but the windows were so dirty it was hard to see where you were. The biggest disappointment was the mens washroom reeked of urine.
Fast boarding
U no ur Goin home to da rock????????
Great service...As always.
Bedroom comfy enough to keep you asleep during the ride. The team just makes sure you have everything in these times of covid-19.
Get a room and take gravol ... And enjoy
Yay boat! We put a boat on the boat.
Was a great adventure starting with their help with my online booking. Lovely, well maintained ferries and beautiful Terminals. Worth checking out Youtube to learn about them. Great food onboard and comfortable seating and cabins. Liked the option to bring our dog out of the vehicle to a special room. It was really nothing special with little comfort but we appreciated that we were able to visit and walk him during such a long trip. Also great gift shops on board and the friendliest, most helpful people you could want to meet working on the ferry.
Nice place ????
Beautiful drive getting to and leaving this port have your passengers camera ready.
As a truck driver : Only one (and a half) shower(s). Cafetaria is expensive! Friendly staff. No decent WiFi while waiting on the parking for 2 days...
Expensive, discouraging mode of access to Nfld especially when tourism is highly promoted and needed in the current economy.
Orderly boarding procedures, friendly staff. Modern terminal.
I really the place.
The ferryboat ride was way pricey at over $330 Canadian dollars for one senior and one adult and NO bunk. We left at 11:15 p.m. and I had to sleep on the floor. That ruined my next day's activities. The photo is leaving the port in Sydney mines Nova Scotia and headed for Newfoundland.
Always enjoyed my time with Marine Atlantic
Apparently its mandatory to wear a face mask when in public areas within the terminal and on the ship
Travelled the day crossing to Sydney from PAB. The breakfast at the terminal was absolutely worth the price. Food was very good and made fresh. The wait wasn't too bad and the vessel itself was very luxurious for a ferry crossing at what we paid. Although it takes longer, I would recommend this travel method over flight whenever possible
Only way to travel to n from NL.
On board restaurant only open for an hour. $700.00 to cross the short ferry for 71' tractor trailer. Edit. Our 2nd crossing aboard the Blue Putters was a modern ship with better amenities. The people aboard both ships were fantastic
Tried to book online but unable to because they would not accept date of birth info. Called reservations and woman answering call was not helpful and rude. So tried to book a seat at gate after waiting in line but no space and told we should have booked online?? Soo booked trip for the next day. We were told we would be put on waiting list for cabin. On ship we were rudely told our names not on list so go find a chair... Seats small and so uncomfortable with no reclining feet and lights shining in your eyes all night. We saw people sleeping on the FILTHY floor carpet and between the seats with people all around snoring and farting++ DISGUSTING!!!!!!! Tried to book a cabin on the return trip but told again by rude staff NO to both cabin and waiting list because WAITING LIST FULL....??????? ADVICE: Dont go to Newfoundland on $$$ ferry with rude staff and HELL to sleep save your $$ and stay in NS
Excellent service and great people.
Got to visit the rock!
Nice relaxing ride
Just wanted to say that I think marine Atlantic in port a Basque channel is the best. Outstanding service. They do there best to accommodate all customers needs. They go all out to give u complete satisfaction. Thankyou Marine Atlantic ????????
Considering the lack of other options for crossing to and from Newfoundland, it would be easy for them to skimp on amenities and services. But it's a great way to get to and from the mainland, and their current covid-related measures will have you feeling safe for your passage.
These people do a great job to keep us rolling. They keep us informed when bad weather going to hold is up. Get us loaded with our safety in mind.. Great job people.
The ferry everything you could ever want when crossing the staff is very friendly they got good food on the fery they got wifi and computers on board as will as a tv and you can go up to the top deck and sit down outside
Very fast and easy ferry ride
Terminal is clean and well maintained. Ample seating while waiting for midnight crossing.
The ferry itself was fine and well maintained. The restaurant, cafe, and bar are all closed on board "due to covid" (seems to be everyone's excuse for cutting services these days). For your 7h/15h ferry ride your options for food are limited to pizza, paninis and soup of the day. There is Wi-Fi on board, but you will have difficulty even loading a basic web page on your mobile. Pack food and pre-download some podcasts or Netflix for your trip!
Very unorganized
Great crossing today. Smooth sailing, lovely service, delicious lunch and snacks.
Excellent service and a new building with ammenties
Having WiFi on board would have been nice, but otherwise it was a good service.
Aucks like always
Amazingly helpful employees and very comfortable trip
Good people
Very helpful people at the commercial vehicle check-in.
Staff were great. Prices for the trip were atroches. No reason for prices that high. Great food and very clean ferry.
Berg well organized ???? on boarding and off boarding. Travelled during covid time, so no restaurant was open. The food was handed over once we board and checking to rooms. Ontime departure and arrival.
Bring something warm, blanket, etc and a pillow if you do not get a room.
From NS to Nfld rented chairs during day meals were good and lots of
The people at Marine Atlantic are wonderful. Their cabins are always spotless and smell really fresh. No complaints about them at all!
If you book an overnight cruise, I recommend you to book a cabin. The boat is very steady at night.
Ferry Terminal & 4 berth cabin
Awesome
Good food, nice washrooms! Friendly staff. Loved the dog park, at least the dog loved it!
Always a Great Experience when traveling with Marine Atlantic. Sanitary practice used and friendly customer service! Enjoy!
for the money, you cant beat it, seats in general area are very roomy, staff was very nice.
Get a cabin overnight it's worth it. Boo early.
Great crossing
Great staff friendly service restaurant was open so all was good including food for a great tasting meal at reasonable price.
Best crossing ever
???? it!!
Would be nice if restaurant did take out orders and have it delivered to the cabins or have passengers oder take out and given a time of how long it would take to prepare the meal and passengers could leave the cabin and go get the food and pay for it and return to the cabin to eat
Very disorganized. Do not come early, you will be near last boarding, wait for 2 hours or a little less before boarding time and you will board much earlier. Later you board, less likely to get good seating.
Heading to the mainland, friendly loading staff!
It’s freezing on this ferry. It was a good thing we got a cabin with adjustable temperature gauge. A little into our trip they decided to paint the heli pad! The stench of the paint got sucked into the vents and into everyone’s cabins. Why on earth would you choose to paint when folks are onboard is truly beyond me. I had to escape and go out on the deck (where the smell also was but not so bad). There was also the horrible stench of human waste happening from about an hour or two before the end of the journey. Not an enjoyable trip at all.
Marine atlantic is marine atlantic
Boats are in major need of improvements and maintenance. Most of the usb plugs and headphone jacks on the Blue Puttees dont work, no wifi, TV in my room stopped working after an hour, the headphones provided are terrible and will break within a few mins. Worst of all no smoking area. By far the worst equipped ferry I've ever ridden on.
Clean bathrooms.
Beautiful lil'town
Great ????
Full of adventure in blue marine . Supporting staff, neat and clean room and washroom..
Great staff on board, very nice ferry ride ????
Awsome staff. Very knowledgeable of vessel. Very helpful.
Amazing experience with having a room. Wish the gift shop was open though, tv in the room was very difficult and hard to use but we had tablets so no issue
No wait to get inside. Drove straight on through to our spot in line.
Friendly stuff all over the place. Government people are awesome and very helpful.
The restaurant is amazing. The rib special was homemade good!!!
Good service
very friendly staff, clean cabins and on time
Very good
Modern boat..bar..buffet.cabins .. recliners
Ferry terminal not much else to say
Bunch of good buoys.
If you to sit for a week this is the place for you
As far as cruises go it's short; but you can't beat the price.
Had an excellent fairy ride to and from New Foundland from Nova Scotia. Friendly and helpful staff. Very professional.
I was only there to pick up a travel trailer that came across the ferry and they treated me great and made sure everything was done right
World class customer service. Can't say enough good things about how well that service is run. The best staff. clean and comfortable cabins..........
Great way to cross back and forth if doing a road trip!
Loved the trip, staff was awesome!
Always a great experience. Staff is absolutely wonderful. I actually love the beds and pillows -- so comfy. Also, especially important during Covid, the rooms are very clean and great safety protocols.
Was a smooth ride after Teddy went through only delayed the boat overnight.
Love the boat ride best ever
Secured Housing Unit 8hrs at a time.. no yard time or rations..sentry guards strategically posted.. CC tactically trained.
Rode the ferry from North Sydney to Port aux Basques. Customer service was great on the phone when I had to call and make some changes. Loaded in good time, left on time. Friendly service, clean boat. Would recommend paying for the selected seats if you want a foot rest to make it easier to sleep but if your not sleeping there was plenty of room in the other non-paid lounges. All the chairs had charging stations if you bring your adapter. Food was great and not jacked up prices. Enjoyed the trip and wouldn't hesitate to use again. Well done Marine Atlantic.
Crossed on the Vision. Nicer boat than the one I took over, which I can't remember the name of. The loading went much quicker than it did in North Sydney.
(Translated) Correct location. With a few services (Original) Emplacement correct. Avec un peu de services
Confusingly
Always great service
Good ferry trip, highly recommend taking the 1145 ferry at night, the one at noon takes up your whole day.
Great trip on the ferry. Staff was very friendly and very helpful. Good food and nice clean berths. Awesome trip over all.
Had a booking for noon crossing with a cabin ferry was canceled do to weather conditions they book mefor the evening crossing but no cabin not to happy with them right now when I book it over 2 months ago it was not my fault but I quest they can do what they want
very impressed with the way everything was done
Nice peeps wifi pass is marineatl
Great staff , fast efficient service.
Friendly helpful staff, despite covid restrictions.
Everything was okay at the terminal, but on the ferry we were given a different cabin and then there was no remote for the TV. We made a second trip to the purser desk, got a remote. Then the TV wouldn't work at all. Decided not to make a third trip to the pursers desk. Other then that it was okay.
Great experience
Very nice staff and food
Great staff. Friendly..goes over and beyond to make you feel accommodated..
One bartender told me 1892 was a 'domestic' beer, then the other charged me for a 'craft' beer ($4 more) and said that there was nothing they could do because the beers were already open. She then cut me off and told me to move along. Also the bright lights were left on all night in the reserved seating area... everybody in there was trying to sleep. Didn't make any sense to me.
Very nice experience
Great crossing both ways, smooth as silk. Ships are well appointed & have super friendly & helpful staff.
Well equipped and very covid conscious
(Translated) I loved it except the only problem is my time adjusting with the sea (Original) Jai adoré sauf le seul probleme est mon temps d'adaptation avec la mer
Had a great experience. Got the cabin as I always do.
Courteous staff... comfortable cabins...always a pleasant trip...
Took the noon ferry from Sydney to Port aux Basques. We had reclining seats and could unmask once seated. We could move about to go on deck etc. There was no internet or TV. There are chargers for devices on each seat. The crossing was smooth and the time passed easily.
The Terminal itself is ok...I personally hate going on the boat so I'd give that a 1....but others like it and thats great....you can't please everyone....Hey b'y...????????
Super helpful staff, Ronnie and Jacklyn (sp?) were awesome in particular, and other helped as well. My trailer broke down coming off the ferry, and I pulled over just off the boat, like 50 metres off the boat! They helped me out with recommendations on where to get parts, a few tools, and even lending a vehicle to go get the parts! Awesome crowd! Thx lots.
Excellent service
Marine Atlantic were very prepared for Covid-19 restrictions. We boarded the ferry and 6 employees directed us to our parking space. Then we were very efficiently sent to our cabin with only our group on the cleaned elevator. They had box lunches/breakfast snacks prepared as cafeteria not open. All staff are to be commended on their professionalism dealing with all of the passengers on the crossing.
Treat truckers like second class citizens and the food on board is way to expensive and not very good
Already 49 minutes late for no apparent reason
Nice friendly people clean ferrys
If anyone out there would like to know how it feels to be in prison they should travel marine Atlantic. You go to your room or chair the minute you get on the ferry and do not come out until the minute you go to your vehicle. Absolutely no services. No meals or coffee only a little bag lunch that your wouldn't feed your dog. Two things you can always count on with marine Atlantic is truck drivers will always be dirt under their feet and the prices will never drop
(Translated) You have to arrive early enough! I was there in mid-August 2017. Obviously, you have to book, preferably online, although their site is not the easiest !!!! When you have your reservation, it is preferable, in my opinion, to arrive two hours before the time indicated on your reservation because the places fill up quickly. Even if, with your reservation, you are guaranteed to board, it is the first come who is best served. After presenting your ticket at the gate, we are directed to numbered lines on the ground. Pay attention to the line that is indicated to you, even if it means repeating, because the attendants have a strong accent. Once the car in the queue, you can get out of it to go to a waiting room with restaurant and lounge with televisions. There is also a shop for the latest souvenirs. It's a little more expensive than elsewhere, but nothing exaggerated. When the ferry arrives, there is ample time to head towards your car, while waiting for the disembarking of the arriving cars. Then we do what we are told! Returning to your car is prohibited after the ferry has left the dock. So plan what you will need, including warm clothes if you intend to go out on the outdoor walkways. There is a cafeteria-style restaurant on the boat, next to the floor with the large interior lounge in front of the boat. It's good and moderately priced. The crossing takes around 6 hours. (Original) Il faut arriver d'assez bonne heure!
Was great. All the protocols in place and being followed. Great little lunch unexpectedly given to us as we went to our cabin. Cabin was immaculately clean. Grateful for the bubble
Well oiled machine. Staff was great and efficient, ferry and berth were very clean and well kept.
Marine Atlantic's berths are clean and comfortable. The seats are comfortable to sit in for long periods, with TVs everywhere, as well which was a blessing when we couldn't get a berth. The food is nice at the restaurant and we always enjoyed eating jello in our little room.
A great experience!
Absolutely fantastic...
Have to give them 5 stars even though there is a lack of service they done a professional job of keeping everyone safe during the pandemic.
Smooth Sailing every time.
Book a cabin with a window three months earlier. Cross to Newfoundland with one but wasn't given one on the way to Nova Scotia. A window is needed because of claustrophobia. Talk to guest services and staff was rude and unwilling to move me. On the MV Highlanders the cabins with windows are: 8101, 8103, 8105, 8117, 8111, 8115, 8119, 8123, 8127, 8135, 8139, 8143, 8147, 8151, 8155, 8159, 8163, 8167, 8169, 8171, 8202, 8204, 8206, 8208, 8212, 8216, 8220, 8224, 8228, 8232, 8236, 8240, 8244, 8248, 8252, 8256, 8260, 8262, 8264, 8268, 8301, 8302, 8303. This is most likely the same for the MV Blue Puttees.
helpful staff
I've crossed between NS & NL several times now on the ferry, great customer service and clean. Today's crossing was even better as I had accidentally booked the ferry leaving from the wrong province. They fixed my issue in seconds and even put me on a waiting list for a cabin & I got one as soon as I boarded the ferry !
Was really nice in fall season on the Island of Newfoundland Ca
Great staff, clean and efficient
Usually well organized and efficient. Night and day between here and North Sydney.
Couldn't ask for a better place to be , it's taking to a place I call home
Very cautious about social distancing...Crew always helpful... Surprised to receive a free boxed lunch.. blanket and pillow, eat phones and seated in reclining chairs at no cost!! A very pleasant crossing on July 22 2020
They travel on time
On time and orderly embarkation/debarkation . the cabins were quite comfortable and I was suprised by just how comfortable the beds were.
I think they could do the covod line up better. If you have your online form completed lane 1, if not lane 4...for example. Good job otherwise.
Good for a boat with no service
Very friendly personnel. Boats could use some tlc. A lot of the headphone jacks don't work, and the chairs could be more comfortable
Always enjoy the boat.. can't wait till the restaurant opens up again ..
Wish the restaurant was there.. but other than that it was a pleasurable experience
A well oiled machine and quite an experience. If you've never taken a cruise before try this first to find out if you get seasick!
This place is absolutely beautiful
Gets me off the island, rooms are nice and very clean
Stayed in a quad berth. Great way to travel and catch up on rest while touring the maritimes. Provides plenty of opportunity to arrive and enjoy every moment of your trip without being too tired.
Nice friendly
It is one of two routes off the island of Newfoundland by vehicle. The service is second to none. Staff are friendly price is affordable and they have Veteran/Armed Forces discount. Wheelchair service available, elevators.
Good food at the terminal
Great service.
Smooth crossing. Important book way in advance in order to increase chance of getting a berth
Friendly staff taking all precautions during the covid.had a great stay in our clean cabin and a good nites sleep.
Very friendly, organized and on time.
Gr8 staff , gr8 boat ride just cant complain slept like a baby with the wave :)
Beautiful area!
Beautiful
Very comfy chairs. Decent coffee. Onboard wifi didn't work, but cellular LTE seemed to work occasionally. Each chair has a USB outlet for charging devices, but they're don't charge very fast. They have lots of TV screens in the sitting area and each seat has a 3mm audio jack for headphones to listen to the TVs. Although I didn't test mine. One thing that would've been nice, is for someone to inform/remind passengers that they need to fill out a NFDL COVID form before you leave the ship. Also, plan for an additional 30-60 minutes wait leaving ferry terminal while they check COVID Forms.
Bon service
get a cabin and bring enough supplies for 24 hrs delayed the last 2 times I traveled and stuck on the boat
Smooth sailing, comfortable cabin and great access to snacks and other food.
Very poor service ! Actually no service in the terminals,Port aux or North Sydney ship crossings canceled with out notification when ample time was given. All your rights taken away under the guise of Coved. People with little or no training. Looked at the clift rock in Portaux Basque for 24 hrs in a cold car. Ridiculous time for upper management to get off their duffs!!
Great crossing.
Clean and the people who work there are very helpful. You can sit watch T.V. and relax while you are waiting!!
A good traveling experience
The facility was nice but better seating on the ferry would be a blessing
This service is your only choice to travel via car to and from the Rock. It's expensive but always worth the price of a cabin. It costs $335 For 2 ppl, a cabin and a regular sized car/truck.
Beautiful place
I wasn't delayed and it didn't take long to load/unload. Great water pressure in shower.
They got us across the ocean safe, Thank you.
Expensive, but smooth crossing, comfortable room and a great night's sleep.
Really only way on or off island. Inconvenient location and lacking services
Had a cabin and no water!!!!
Convenient
Great boat ride and glad I had gravol
The staff at the terminal and on the boats is great. Eveeything is well organized. Waiting at the terminal is kind of boring though and it is too bad there is not much to do there while waiting to be loaded.
Waiting for ferry
Nice way to cross from NS to NL. We were on deck 8 and not able to leave the whole time (not sure if this is normal or due to covid). I think they had wifi but it didn't work for anyone. They gave you a bagged lunch but I would recommend bringing your own as it's a surprise lunch. Took 7 hours. A lot of the seats are blocked off for social distancing. They have a few tvs playing shows like Border Patrol
Efficient service, comfortable seating, polite staff, very helpful for locating near elevator.
A great vessel nice quiet trip to. Port aux Basse NFLD.
Very clean. The staff was great.
Expensive
My family and I travelled from Sydney to Port aux basques on this ferry. It was a good experience, quick and easy. I do suggest showing up extra early so you can be on the boat first and leave first off the boat when docking. The cabins are comfortable and they have wheelchair accessible rooms and elevators. There is a small restaurant to get food and you can go out on the rooftop of the boat and watch the beautiful scenery. I'd definitely book early if you want to get the date you want to cross over on as the spots book up fast. Overall a great experience and the staff is always helpful.
The ferries are quite nice, clean and comfortable and the people aboard are friendly and helpful. Loading was well organized. The deck hands were very helpful in advising me when securing our motorcycles (I was totally new to securing the bike and needed advice on how to work the tries downs, etc. I know very well the actual tieing down was my responsibility.) Nicely run organization! Web site works well and is informative. Calling in for changes results in talking with very helpful staff that does their best to help out (and succeeded involving my challenges.)
top notch service as usual!
Amazing
The crossing was fine, but there was no and I mean NO social distancing waiting to get up to our seats/cabin. To top it off it was disorganized, we were directed to 3 different floors just to get seated, that's a lot of walking the stairs when one of you have mobility issues. Worst experience yet, and we cross yearly.
Only way to get home
Great in every way!
Great trip both ways. Friendly staff...all amenities....
Great
Day crossing is no fun at all. Long time to sit and wait seats are comfortable and staff is good and do the best they can. Good service is limited, but acceptable, pizza was good and fresh. All together, it was a good trip, but I still prefers night crossings. Well done!
Great staff, very helpful. Very nice room on Blue Putees.
Calm ride friendly staff great ride
I was delayed for 2 days. I miss the purchase of my house due to this. The purpose of the trip was the purchase of the house. I am not very impressed.
Very clean, nice staff, just needs better wi fi.
The staff is fantastic and went out of their way to help me out of a jam. Great service all around from everyone.
Sailing sailing over the...
Given a cabin with no working tv.
Complete and total professionals.
Great boat ride over to Newfoundland.
The experience was awesome. Even though Covid is putting a damper on things.
Got my bread and Water sent to my cell for a while, now we're docked so I guess I get some yard time now lol.
We had a lovely trip on the boat we enjoyed it..
With covid restrictions in place , everything went quite smoothly. We were told before we could disembark that they would knock on our cabin door when it was time to go to our vehicle but they made an announcement instead which brought everyone to the deck to leave at the same time. Bagged lunch provided consisted of a turkey and dressing sandwich, an apple and a bottle of water. The sandwich was better than I thought it would be.
No place to sleep and they chase you around to make sure you don't try and lay down somewhere....unless you want to spend 200 on a cabin for 5 or 6 hrs
I have no idea how this place is so highly rated
Great service
we had a smooth crossing on May 26th. full moon shining in our window til 3am! The service was great with a bag lunch to take to our cabin as we quarantined for the night.
Helpful staff and access to the washrooms. Doggy pound available.
Over priced and poorly run
Feel like the ferry was postponed because not a full ferry.
Service was more than excellent on the Vision! Staff were extremely helpful and happy! Even observed 1 staff member going above and beyond to help a young family traveling! Great to know there are still people like this that care about others! And take pride in their work! Kudos to that man!
Cleaned washroom , good restaurant , stuck for 2 days coz of high winds , driver lounge closed due to covid
Awesome boats
Friendly and helpful staff it's an expensive trip food not always what it should be .
