Overall I had a very negative experience here. I came to one of these therapists for help managing severe anxiety/panic attacks that are triggered by flare ups of some chronic health issues that I'm struggling to get diagnosed, and I was advised by my therapist to avoid seeking medical care altogether to avoid triggering this anxiety. Over the course of a couple months, I was never given any tools to help manage my anxiety when it arises, despite explicitly asking for them at every session. When I finally expressed my overall dissatisfaction with my sessions to this therapist, he essentially told me that in doing so I was continuing my cycle of seeking medical help and leaving unsatisfied with the care I received (which is a frustration I'd expressed to him with regard to the medical system not having answers yet about my health condition). He made it clear that he did not feel I would get anywhere in therapy because of this, suggesting I would just hop from therapist to therapist indefinitely without getting the help I want, and then essentially challenged me to fire him under pretense of "empowering me" to make executive decisions about my health.
It all felt like a weird manipulative guilt trip to keep me working with him ("if you fire me you'll never get better - go on, do it"). Now I'm pretty new to therapy, but I'm pretty sure therapists should not use the very problems you came to them with against you.
I am not interested in filing a formal complaint or whatever (which I'm seeing as a common response here on others' reviews), just sharing my experience with other prospective clients.
