rudest most unhelpful doctor I've ever been to. Yelled at me in her office for using a walk-in clinic not associated with his although I had no other choice as I was out of town. You can only go in with one concern so don't expect to be saying you have a sore throat and clogged ears she'll say it's 2 different issues and to make another appointment. He’s always behind even though you're rushed out of her office within minutes so don't expect to have any questions answered. Been mis diagnosed by her many many times. He is very very ( extremely) rude and talks down to you making you feel terrible not to mention making an appointment is brutal as the line doesn't take messages and they rarely answer the phone. Looking for a new doctor! Save your time and energy and go else where you'll never leave his office feeling good about yourself!!!!

Wow. I cant believe he has negative reviews. I see only 4 people have posted, obviously becasue they were upset. My experiance has been amazing. I have been seeing him for 5-6yrs now. Hes smart, address' my concerns and has helped me during multiple illness' that range in degree of seriousness. Im a huge fan of him and will keep going. The only negative I have is the wait to see him, but thats everywhere. On that point there is always lots of people waiting. So with 4 bad reviews, but a packed waiting room, I think the packed waiting room speaks volumes on his proffesionalism and care. PS he also works in the emergcy room at the hospital. I dont think a "Dr. who got his degree in the 40's" would hold that job on a daily basis. By the way, one review said "she yeld at me". Um wrong Dr.!!!! Dr. Hoose is a man!!!

Dr. Hoosen generally makes my mother feel bad. Don’t expect bed side manner. The reason his waiting room is so full is because he expects you to pay him if you go to a walk in clinic that he doesn’t approve. He insist that you see him rather than finding other sources of help. My mother is a senior and ended up in the hospital in Ottawa. He saw that she was somewhere else and asked her to pay for going to another doctor or he was going to drop her. The date in question, she was at home convalescing. She had to get proof from OHIP that she didn’t see anyone else. She had been seeing him for many years. Totally disgusting. If getting another doctor was easy, his waiting room would be empty. Update 2 years later--While many of the same issues may still be there, I have come to appreciate what he has done for my mother in the last little while. Her experience in assisted living, using their doctor, was somewhat disappointing. So she returned to Dr. Hoosen. He has been helpful and appears caring. She was there on her birthday and when she left, he realized it and came running out to her to wish her a happy birthday. It was totally unexpected and made her feel wonderful.

I had an issue with him. It was resolved amicably.

He's very nice and respectful.

If I could give this guy no stars, believe me there'd me none! Took my little cousin into Dr. Hoosen's office because of a suspected laryngitis. He was so rude to my cousin and myself and even told me that in previous files, he'd noticed that my aunt took her to a walk in clinic. He was very clear in letting me know that next time my cousin or my aunt went to any walk-in, that he would charge a $30 penalty. Penalty for what? for getting immediate care when he can't see them immediately? Disgusting!

Dr Hoosen has been my family doctor for 4 years. I recommended my elderly parents to see him and he accepted. It's a convenient location for West St Catharines residents and Dr Hoosen and his staff treats us well.

My first family doctor in Canada and I am glad to go for my wife's suggestion who happened to work as RN under him at a common place. I being a doctor from my country can confidently say he is expert in his field. And above that he is well behaved and empathetic towards his patients that makes him a nice person. Only reason I have seen people complaining in the reviews are those who sought clinical help from walk in clinic. I was told the same explicitly on my very first visit that because they run family practice patients ought not to go anywhere else except Hospital emerg. For less serious matters calling for urgent clinical advise his patients are supposed to call a specific number where one of the doctor from his group would be available on phone. So the choice remains there in the very beginning to look for another family doctor rather than complaining later. And most importantly he listens to what I say rather than going into assumptions about my illness. Great doctor and a nice person.
