My daughter has severe anxiety that is mostly triggered at bed time. She was terrified of falling asleep after us (her parents). She was worried someone would break into the house. Every night she would ask if we had locked the doors, locked the car, closed the garage door etc. After this she would stay up and be so anxious she'd be going to the bathroom multiple times in a half hour. She'd come out of her room constantly either in tears or almost in tears, terrified. She would ask if I was staying in the living room or going to bed. And if I was going to bed was I staying up and reading or going to sleep. We both lost an incredible amount of sleep and were not our best selves. I wasn't interested in conventional therapy for her as she's 8 years old and doesn't fully understand what is going on and why she is having the reaction she's having. I reached out to Sparks of Healing for an appointment and she was incredibly flexible and wonderful when making arrangements to see her. She made my daughter comfortable in minutes and I was able to leave and do a couple of quick errands. When I came back she was excited to tell me all about what she learned and what she'd be doing that night to help her sleep. The improvements over the last week were gradual but happened quickly. The last few nights she's been going to bed without asking me a bunch of questions, without stress toileting, without getting up a few times to see where I am and if I'm still awake. She went from terrified to relaxed in less than a week and I can't thank Patty enough! We are all sleeping better and getting more out of our days.
