The team here shows great care and follow through for their patients. Although there is a cost for elements of the service that OHIP does not cover, it was well worth the investment. After some trial and error with a spectrum of medications, we have finally found one that is well-tolerated and effective. Dr. Handelman listened carefully and was supportive from the initial visit through to our final session. He helped our family learn about ADHD and how we can manage through it.

Dr Handelman has been an extremely kind, warm, and compassionate person to work with. He remembers what you speak about, he genuinely wants to get to know you, your life, and how you are doing. He really wants to help you, and always has your best interests at heart.

Meeting Dr. Handelman has been a life changer for our family. His down to earth approach, humour and in depth diagnosis has really turned things around for our family. Three of our family has gone to Dr. Handelman and have been able to get an in-depth look at our ADHD as well as get a wealth of resources to help us integrate our diagnosis into our daily lives. I cannot stress enough how patient and thorough he was with our son and ourselves. His diagnosis is affordable and comprehensive with significant emphasis on how our personalities are and where our strengths lie as well as health adjustments to make the most out of our diagnosis. Plenty of parking available though he is located on the second floor I can't confirm an elevator. Jennifer on his admin staff was most helpful and thorough and really accommodating. Testing was thorough about 2 hours and comprehensive with explanation of what each phase is testing for. What I greatly appreciate with Dr. Handelman is that he is able to give practical help moving forward and is very down to earth in helping us understand and give us a greater understanding of how our neuro-divergent brains functions. We as a family are deeply grateful and we cannot thank him enough for his work.

Dr. Handelman is a great, thorough doctor. We had the pleasure of meeting him last week for my daughter and he gave us answers we were searching for after so many years of feeling lost. I recommend everyone facing similiar problems such as ADHD meet with him. I now have the tools in order to overcome our obstacles. Thank you Dr Handelman and team for your hard work!

Please save your money and avoid going here. It is literally a rip off. I was thinking that everything would be covered by OHIP but I had to still pay the $800 up front. I later found out that the insurance company does not even cover psychiatric assessments like they do for psychological ones. This was an absolutely disappointing experience. I am a student who attends University and came here for an ADHD assessment. The doctor asked me a few questions and then immediately diagnosed me with four things including ADHD. Not to mention, the assessment was very short and not in depth at all. He did not even do an IQ test which you would get from a psychologist which could also test for an underlying learning disability. Therefore I ended up paying and losing $800 for an assessment which may not even be accurate because it lacks tests that are normally done by a psychologist. After I was diagnosed I asked the doctor if he could fill out a form and he told me that for that I would be charged an extra $100, none of which I can get back. The more I think about the more of a waste I am feeling this was. I was put on medication as he said this was the best treatment option. However, medication is clearly not working for me and instead of investigating what else may be wrong, they tried to prescribe me with medication that could cause potential addiction and withdrawal if I do not take it everyday. The only reason I came here was because my family doctor referred me here. It seems that more than helping people, Dr Handelman cares more about making a lot of money ripping people off. Please if you are suspecting any mental health issues, consult a clinical psychologist as their visits are all covered by insurance and the assessment itself will be a lot more in depth.

I received a call from Dr. Handelman’s office today as a referral was sent from my doctor, but we couldn’t get past the ignorance of the secretary who called as I was trying to get a clear understanding of what on earth I would be receiving with the $800 fee that he charges – She kept repeating “a comprehensive assessment” but when I asked for the details regarding what OHIP covers vs the $800 fee, she didn’t want to keep repeating herself (her words). Also, reading all of the reviews on RateMD and knowing two families who have gone to him for “treatment”, I think I’ll just go back to my doctor for a different referral as I’m not so keen on giving pills to my son after one 20 minutes assessment. The two families who see him are all on medication now, including both parents, all the siblings and one family’s DOG is also apparently takes ADHD meds! Ridiculous, I know. Unfortunately, this is the reality of our mental health system and it's becoming very clear why people dont bother since it's a cash grab filled with very confusing advice. Dr. Handelman is a huge advocate for ADHD so I don't think he should be giving the assessments for this and perhaps he should only be sent referrals once a more neutral opinion has been given by someone who doesn't financially benefit from diagnosing this condition.
