The administrative support staff is not helpful. You feel like a number when you go to infoservice and to ask questions. They don't make you feel like they actually care they just want to deal with your issue as fast as possible. I have two experiences where they have given me no information but instead sent me to another university office. One of them was to enter the immersion program and another was to ask questions about programs. It's always a drag to have to deal with any administrative issues at Ottawa U.
Coolest University to study
Nice modern university campus centrally located in Ottawa. Lots of faculties and services offered, as well as several amenities and organizations for students.
Nice place
I graduated in 2006 so my information is a bit out of date but my experience at the University of Ottawa was mixed. Depending on the program and course you can have some fantastic or extremely poor teachers. My biggest issue with the school is the support staff are generally unfriendly and unwilling to help in comparison to those at Carleton or Algonquin. If I could go back I wouldn't go back to Ottawa U.
Clean, and the Covid guidelines are followed in a very effective manner
There are no enough diversity in terms of professors. Almost all professors are from Quebec, all whites , and some other are from English community from Canada and Europeans countries. A handful non-whites instructors are not permanent staffs, Needless to say that it needs change in mindset , cultural Revolution !
(Translated) I strongly advise against this university, they advocate racist discourse towards francophones. The collegial body as much as the rector. (Original) Je déconseille fortement cette université, ils prônent le discours raciste envers les francophones. Le corps collégial autant que le recteur.
Attending this school was one of the worst decisions I have made in my life.
An excellent and beautiful university. It was founded in 1848 as the College of Bytown by the Mary Missionaries. Currently, this public university has more than 3,000 staff members and more than 34,000 students. Almost 70% of the classes are given in English and the rest in French. It has residences for the students, a Bioscience complex, Advance Research complex, Faculty of Engineering, Campus Boutique, Morisset Library, Languages Institute, Music School, Minto Sports Complex, Fitness Centre, Matt Anthony Field, Faculty of Education and many other facilities and things.
Great place to work!

Great place to study
Awesome place to learn!
uOttawa is one of the best universities with quality education. The university is very active in organizing webinars in different issues at this difficult situation of the COVID-19.
Very good, very expensive They should be more rigorous in their hiring process in terms of language skills. I don't know how many times I've gotten a teacher with heavy accents, to the point where I can't understand what they're talking about. UOttawa also lacks in the bilinguism department, as there is only one french language group for every 5 in English ones (in my experience). I've also noticed a lot of hostility towards french speakers during my time there. English speakers claiming to be "opressed" when French students push for bilinguism was a common theme.
It sucks bc everyone said it sucks. Ottawa is a lame city. Don't go there, worst capital on the planet. That's all folks.
Good school in town.
I can't recommend the university unfortunately. The faculty and most professors were great, but university rankings are correct in tanking the student services at this institution.
I am glad it close right now.

Good place, campus a little dirty though
I will love to go there.please somebody tell me how I can be go there???
Not going to leave a huge review - it's called the hole for a reason. Man some of the interiors of the buildings need to be renovated, so ugly and look like an 80s doctors office! Not welcoming at all. Almost everyone I knew dropped out
The Cafeteria is amazing.
Great university! Staff is very friendly and helpful and there are lots of resources for students. It's also a very beautiful campus.
Lots of smartpants there
Beautiful well kept campus.

Live in brooks residence. They failed to give me a key to my room since day one and I have put in multiple work orders since September. I still don't have a key and it's March... The people at 90U are students, so they're nicer, but the brooks residence workers are terrible. They blatantly ignored me, disregarded my concerns and made me run back and forth many times on the first day until finally opening the door with the master key. THANK GOD I'm moving out next year.
The professors are helpful and the campus is beautiful.
My University ???? One of the best university in whole Canada.
A nice campus with an interesting mix of building in age and style. It reminded me many of the younger city-based universities in England when there are little boundaries between town and gown. Ottawa was a good stop between Toronto and Montreal, spent the night at the University accommodation block. The room might be basic but the atmosphere was great and the view on the higher floors was simply first class. No mini fridge but the halls is close enough to the city centre to cater for any night owls. The summer residence scheme for travellers is suspended this year until further notice but if available, definitely a relative cheap but culturally rich option to explore this largest bilingual university in the world and the little known capital city of Canada.
Good luck getting any kind of administrative work done if you don't speak French.
For just visiting or using the space: lots of nice outdoor spaces with access to plugs and shade, inside plenty of water fountains and places with mirrors, decent views in both. Attending the actual unniversity: a fun campus vibe access to academic research and interesting programs and clubs(from my experience)
sucks people here bully the weak
High school seniors, be careful when choosing this University. Not only is it unsafe for minorities to walk around on campus without being harassed by security, the administration will also try to sweep such incidents under the rug and provide copy and pasted responses to anybody that inquiries on the matter. You're better off going elsewhere, you'll thank yourself later.
(Translated) Very cool the university! (Original) Muito legal a universidade!
French and English friendly. Located in downtown Ottawa, easy bus access.
Have to say that the Campus is quite nice. Tour guide was super friendly and helpful too.
I was admitted to a part-time Master's Degree program here and was very excited about it. However, their admissions team (or the lack thereof) never really answered any of my questions about the delivery and the structure of the program despite emailing them numerous times. I got so sick and tired of it that I decided to pass on the degree. It was a very unfortunate and upsetting experience. This is supposed to be a prestigious institution located in our nation's capitol but they have absolutely nobody to talk to with respect to admissions.
Legendary is the only word ????????

Too many Marxists. Avoid.
Terrible experience. I came all the way from Syria as a refugee with the intention of making my dream life and get education at this university. All I was requested was pay a fee after a fee for only transferring a transcript from my previous university in Windsor. In what world you must pay at least $700 to satisfy your application (with no guarantee you'll get an offer)? All they do is try to create an obstacle after another to make you pay more money to their pockets. FOR THE ADMINISTRATION: applicants are STUDENTS, not VIPs.
Nice
Long waiting time since breakfast food is offered. 8:30 this morning on Laurier/Cumberland: 19 minutes to get a coffee, with only 6 persons ahead of me. Imagine when university students will be back on campus!
Great university! Very nice campus, very stylish building!

Very good school within the heart of Ottawa.
Loved my time here and I’ll miss it very much. Had a great education that challenged me in all the right ways. Not every professor I had was groundbreaking as far as influence or teaching ability, but very few were what I would consider bad teachers. Quite a few will stick in my memory forever and I value what I’ve learned from them.

Beautiful campus and the nicest staff ever.
This is the university to choose to connect with Canada's next political leaders. The staff here are highly efficient, the affordable university buffet with the biggest selection + gaming systems built in is second to none, and the staff eagerly connect students with scholarship opportunities to intern or study abroad. I did 2 exchanges in Paris & Hong Kong through UOttawa's business school and was put in a program paying $4000 (in addition to internship salary) to do a summer internship in China or the United States. Clubs here are plentiful, and the campus population is very accepting of individual differences. Location? Always lots going on in Downtown Ottawa, just across the street from campus. Fellow Ontarians, note that 18 is the legal drinking age in the Quebec half of this city, you're legal from year 1, unlike in other Ontarian cities. Take my word for it, in comparison to schools like ESSEC France, UOttawa is top notch (shots fired at ESSEC! You'll know what I'm talking about if you've exchanged there.)

Very nice
Beautiful campus... Was only here a few minutes to warm up, but the campus looked very lively!!
Its an ok place.
So, after many years of graduating, i finally took some time out to capture uOttawa. Hope you enjoy the photos.
My Workplace
Small compact campus so you dont have to walk too much, reasonably wheelchair accessible, has an elevated tunnel system between most of the buildings so you can stay inside. Has direct access to the otrain line 1. There are several pedestrian only roads for getting around safely. The classrooms are for the most part well laid out and spacious enough. There are several food and drink options around campus too.
The school tries really hard to rectify any mistakes it makes, its affordable (im from ontario) thanks to OSAP, their teachers are really nice and they have adapted tremendously to the needs of Covid.

Great place to work, and being able to practice my second language every day has been amazing. It has its faults, of course, but any big organization does, and they are actively trying to be better.
A nice campus, decent greenery. Check out the live wall in FSS and Cafe Alt.
As an international student, the experience in UO was amazing. Comparing to my home country and home institution, the infrastructure was amazing and the staff was really helpful. Although some Profs were really weak and some of the TAs were as lost as the students. Besides that, the classmates in Mech Engineering were really nice and I made some good friends there. I had the best time of my life in Ottawa, most because of UO.
My time as a student at the University of Ottawa will always be very memorable due to the amazing staff and students that I crossed paths with. As an international student, I was very lucky to have professors who bestowed a lot of trust in me and were always there to guide me. It was also an amazing journey of full of opportunities as well as personal and professional growth.
I like this place

A very good place. This is my first time being in such big university i like everything about it. Food courts, places to study, gym, swimming pool
Loving the nursing program.
I graduated in 2012 with a BSc in chemistry. The education was awesome and the experiences I had were also awesome. The faculty is super nice to you when your trying to get in. But once your in pray to god you don't have a conflict with schedules or switching majors or minors. I invested 5 years worth of time and at the end of it got a job. Since 2012 I have had 3 different jobs all in a very related field to my major.
Vaxx requirements make no sense
The language you speak makes such a huge difference in the administrative service and help you receive; so much so that I would suggest the university to clearly state, that they only serve 'French speaking Students'. The Admin staff is very curt and ensure that you understand, you are just a number! The institution overall is an extremely greedy one, where they setup students to fail. I can speak of engineering only, where profs actually get into trouble when more than a certain percentage of students pass (one of the reasons why some students call it corrupt). Other than people in Arts, I have not met a single soul who was satisfied with this institution. It boggles my mind to see an institution that claims to impart knowledge but in itself is so crude?
(Translated) Recently the University of Ottawa has been the target of a lot of criticism and frankly gratuitous nastiness. People trust what they hear here and there, that people who haven't had their own experience in college allow themselves to say bad things about him. There are things that unfortunately have happened but things like this are happening all over the place to my regret, only uOttawa has been unlucky enough to be exposed on the media far more than others. And we all know how much the media can hold onto or embellish a situation. The fact is that mistakes make us grow and above all do not forget the good it has brought us. As an international student and soon to graduate, never in my university career in recent years have I been the victim of racism. I have had great teachers and amazing supervisors. But I also had less good ones but nothing more. The flexibility of the programs offered in uottawa is a great advantage and ESPECIALLY if you are an international student and you speak French, the University of Ottawa is the only one that gives you an exemption from tuition fees. tuition if you agreed to take the majority of your courses in French while keeping a good academic performance. So yeah, that's awesome! I see comments that say “wasn’t going this university is 'racist' but this university is saving us from paying an extra $ 10,000 for your inappropriate comment! And no, she's not a racist. Just because Mr X has a guitar doesn't mean he's a guitarist! Well, it's the same thing, just because a few faculty members behaved in disrespectful behavior doesn't mean that the whole university is to be denied. Where is your critical thinking and your gratitude? Some colleges and universities, for example, do not even offer you merit scholarships even though you are not on the dean's list. The University of Ottawa gives you a $ 1,000 scholarship each term if you maintain an average of 8.5 or more, not to mention all the student services they offer (health service, sport, student federation, food bank , multimedia laboratory, photo studio, libraries, student area, etc ...) *** The University of Ottawa is not perfect but it applies and is one of the best and I am proud that I chose it in 2017 to study there.
My limited time here was pretty good. Professors were a mixed bag from not so good to amazingly engaging. As with any education, it's what you make of it. I made a lot of great friends in a short time and I think it's an excellent school. The campus is beautiful and many of the buildings are gorgeous.
U of Ottawa's campus is beautifully positioned near the Rideau Canal. Get a bike (and a lock) to get around campus and explore the nearby trails. I completed an engineering program here. Throughout my years, I believe I had classes in almost every building. Some are newer (and better) than others. You may run into some scheduling issues where you have one class at one end of campus and the next at the other end. Make sure you have a good pair of shoes!
(Translated) Great University! (Original) Чудовий університет!
(Translated) Huge disappointment. I no longer wish to do business with this university ... at least, not in the education department. 3/4 of the master's courses are ghost courses and are no longer given. Since I thought it was a mistake on their website, I called, but the lady on the phone admitted to me that it had been several years since they had cleaned up their list and that several teachers had retired. The rest of the courses were all offered at the same time (either Wednesday or Thursday evening). Otherwise, it was online. When I returned to my portal to request a document, I realized that an amount of $ 2800 was charged to an invoice without description, despite the fact that I gave up my mastery (which I didn’t never started because of the reason mentioned earlier). This experience just confirmed what I experienced a few years earlier during my baccalaureate in primary education. I found that there were very few good teachers. In addition, the university seems to be taking a turn towards technology, boasting of being at the forefront, but we suspect that it is simply a budget cut ... an online course, it costs so much less! I am really very disappointed with the services received ... I recommend this university to no one! Find other options! Trouvez d'autres options!

One of the best university in Ontario. Less Fee, more flexibility. If one is choosing between uottawa and Carleton. I will suggest go with Uottawa
Its a good place to visit while I was conferencing in Ottawa.
I spent a year her on exchange from the UK. Overall I was very dissatisfied with the quality of teaching here and wouldn’t recommend. The first week was very welcoming with my department and I really enjoyed it, but this was all thanks to the economics department themselves rather than the university. Many of the lecture halls I had were rather dull. I had the food pass at the canteen which I thought was expensive but the offering of food was pretty decent, think I gained about 8kg in the time I was here from over eating. University location in the capital itself is rather good and the campus itself is designed well.
Largest bilingual university in the world (you can almost smell the bilingualism - nearly everything is written in French and English respectively...even the bathroom signs) with a large campus that is very close to downtown Ottawa, (generally) friendly staff, and a plethora of services to facilitate succesful learning experiences (many areas to study, frequent events, and many resources to aid student life). UOttawa is a very cosmopolitan university that hosts students from all across Canada and the world!

Absolutely pathetic. I wish I could get back every cent that I dished out to this dump. The only good thing about this institution is student lodging. It's full of red-tape, arrogant administrators, extra charges for everything, course-availability issues, terrible curriculum, etc. The list goes on. Passive aggressive assistance when I called just now to ask some questions about my application. I'm an international student, and I waited 25 minutes to be put through, even if my questions seemed obvious, the least she could have done was NOT made me feel stupid for asking. It makes me not want to call again- please tell your operators to be more optimistic and friendly!
With the tuition hikes every year you'd think they'd be able to hire some professors whose English you'd actually be able to understand.
It is a decent University, however, it seems to be riding on a reputation that was awarded many years ago. Carleton University used to be in a distant 2nd for the Ottawa area, now, not so sure. Ottawa University needs to really improve. STOP favouring French speaking over all others. Raise the bar once more. I understand that there is a huge gap in the market for French universities in the area, that is NO reason to lower standards. If anything, it should raise them. Excell my location. Residence meal plan too pricey and needs much improvement. #localguide

Excellent experience
Some of the comments here are not fair. uOttawa cafeteria is the second cafeteria in Canada offers 24/7 services. The food they offer is not great, but pretty fair since you only pay $10 for lunch and 13 for dinner (and it's all you can eat) I know some people who pay only 10 bucks and they stay there for dinner too, you won't be kicked out. It's also true that some profs here are very strict, but please...if you can't pass your course, maybe college is a better option for you.
Everything been fine. But currently experiencing the worst wifi problem for this semester fix it UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA. I can't even do my school work from school residence. internet is just HORRIBLE. It needs to be addressed as soon as possible.
I visited the dining hall and the STEM building of UOttawa. The dining hall was awesome since it was buffet-style and there were lots of breakfast options. I also really liked the STEM building because it was really modern and had lots of study space everywhere. I also liked the amount of outlets present!
I transferred here for my BA and am so glad I did. Great teachers, very organised administration

The University of Ottawa (French: Université d'Ottawa), often referred to as uOttawa, OttawaU or U of O, is a bilingual public research university in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The main campus is located on 42.5 hectares (105 acres) in the heart of Ottawa's Downtown Core, adjacent to the residential neighbourhood of Sandy Hill, adjacent to Ottawa's Rideau Canal. The University of Ottawa was first established as the College of Bytown in 1848 by the first bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Ottawa, Joseph-Bruno Guigues. Placed under the direction of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, it was renamed the College of Ottawa in 1861 and received university status five years later through a royal charter. On 5 February 1889, the university was granted a pontifical charter by Pope Leo XIII, elevating the institution to a pontifical university. The university was reorganized on July 1, 1965, as a corporation, independent from any outside body or religious organization. As a result, the civil and pontifical charters were kept by the newly created Saint Paul University, federated with the university. The remaining civil faculties were retained by the reorganized university. The University of Ottawa is the largest English-French bilingual university in the world. The university offers a wide variety of academic programs, administered by ten faculties including the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine, the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law, the Telfer School of Management, and the University of Ottawa Faculty of Social Sciences. The University of Ottawa Library includes 12 branches, holding a collection of over 4.5 million titles. The university is a member of the Canadian U15 group of research-intensive universities, with a research income of C$324.581 million in 2017. The school is co-educational and enrolls over 35,000 undergraduate and over 6,000 post-graduate students. The school has approximately 7,000 international students from 150 countries, accounting for 17 per cent of the student population. The university has a network of more than 195,000 alumni. The university's athletic teams are known as the Gee-Gees and are members of U Sports. The university's main campus is situated within the neighbourhood of Sandy Hill (Côte-de-Sable). The main campus is bordered to the north by the ByWard Market district, to the east by Sandy Hill's residential area, and to the southwest by Nicholas Street, which runs adjacent to the Rideau Canal on the western half of the university. As of the 2010–2011 academic year, the main campus occupied 35.3 ha (87 acres), though the university owns and manages other properties throughout the city, raising the university's total extent to 42.5 ha (105 acres). The main campus moved two times before settling in its final location in 1856. When the institution was first founded, the campus was located next to the Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica. With space a major issue in 1852, the campus moved to a location that is now across from the National Gallery of Canada. In 1856, the institution moved to its present location. The buildings at the university vary in age from 100 Laurier (1893) to 120 University (Faculty of Social Sciences, 2012). In 2011 the average age of buildings was 63. In the 2011–2012 academic year, the university owned and managed 30 main buildings, 806 research laboratories, 301 teaching laboratories and 257 classrooms and seminar rooms. The main campus is divided between its older Sandy Hill campus and its Lees campus, purchased in 2007. While Lees Campus is not adjacent to Sandy Hill, it is displayed as part of the main campus on school maps. Lees campus, within walking distance of Sandy Hill, was originally a satellite campus owned by Algonquin College.
Amazing place for research and sciences
Love my home campus & office space!!!
I think the University of Ottawa as great as the city of Ottawa. I'm going to do in 2014 stay there again and visit the university.
The engineering department of uOttawa is the worst department in the world. In other words, they don't like students to be engineers.
Love the place. Beautiful. Wonderful. Definitely must visit.
I always like good architecture
Decent-looking and easy-to-navigate campus. Literally close to everything (stores, food). Doesn’t excel at any programs. Make sure to save some money or you won’t be able to buy a Canada Goose jacket to fit in.

Good food, nice buildings, terrible, terrible administration system, has a real social justice and campus feminism infection.

TERRIBLE STUDENT SERVICES!! Very inaccessible on all levels. Very difficult to get any information or even find services. A lot of run-around. I attended this university for 4 years, and I also attended a college and found the college experience to be extremely accessible and helpful. I have quite a few friends who have also attended this university and find it very disorganized.
Amazing University!

I graduated there. I hhad the best time of my life. I had good teachers too. Great university!
Never met so many rude people before. Avoid this University.
I dislike the fact that the franco-ontarian flag flies on campus and not the Canadian flag? How is this possible in the capital of CANADA? I wonder how people would react if an anglo-quebecois flag would fly on the university of Montreal campus and if they remove the flag of Quebec?
Love that I get to rate my alma mater on here. There's a reason why it's rated low on every Macleans list ever, it's terrible. Location is good (that's actually the only good thing I can think of) but the programs are terrible. French is preferred over English. I hear much better things about Carleton.
University of ottawa sems to be in the news alot for exploiting there staff and foreign students. If you are a foreign student or any other individual with any international credentials stay a way from this place. I think they need a law suit to set them straight
Nice place and university
Its alright

Excellent Business Program.
As a former student of this University, I was already prepared to leave a one star review but after seeing the blatant racism that was displayed and learning that it is at least the THIRD incident with this officer this is a no brainer. Good riddance, uOttawa.

Haven't had issues with getting support from the university unlike other reviews(maybe I got lucky or maybe depends on the faculty or both) and all my experiences with the support staff have been great especially the COOP office. Overall, a great so far
we need more money grabs
Oh, well if you were busy then... I had naively hoped uOttawa's reputation for its shabby treatment of undergrad students and unhelpful support staff wouldn't end up being true. Now I'm not able to get in a compulsory course because the Faculty of Arts was too "busy" to deal with a paying student! It has some good points, just be aware that you if you ever need assistance you are going to be a very, very low priority for them. UPDATE- I finally got in but then was removed again...see 2nd photo. Unbelievable.

One must be very dumb to think this is a good university. There is no difference between Rogers and U Ottawa. It seems they have researched very well how rogers pisses people off and they have adapted it all to the institution. Who are we kidding here. University of Toronto, Guelph, Waterloo, Carleton are way ahead of ottawa u. I have worked with students from all the universities mentioned above and their syllabi are more up to date with computer science. Those universities give their student a very competitive advantage in the real world. At u of o, most of the profs in computer science are immigrants who can barely speak English, let alone teach the course material. Everything is about java, even networking is in java. In real world, you don't do network programming in java. Coop is just another business for u of o. It is easy to find a job in computer science or software engineering. However, you can't opt-out of coop because this easy money for them. Why? even if you find your own coop, you still have to pay $695. Now with the # of students in the program, this add up to be a large sum that is easily a big profit in their pocket. All those people who rated this university as the best university ever are retarded and don't know what the best university is like. Jesus, go to UC Berkley or MIT or Harvard to see the difference and how competent the profs are. And by the way, all this good reviews you see here, don't let that fool you. They seem to be paid reviews.
Amazing university with great programs.
The first year of my master program here, I was fine. The course was interesting. The professors seemed wanting to help students out. However, when I was doing my internship in my second year, I met a very horrible internship supervisor. She was psychological and verbal abusive toward me. Somehow the faculty members did nothing to help me. Disappointed.
extremely beautiful city and campus
Pretty good university overall, and still less expensive than the ones in Toronto. Comparable in quality to some of the larger schools in Ontario, but still not anywhere near a top 25 global university.
Wonderful learning environment, lovely professors, and a great place to meet new people.
I heard it was hunted my friend went in her room and she saw a shadow
I love ottawa
excellent facility! excellent staff!! excellent teachers!! excellent transportations!!
The admission staff are very rude and unfriendly. Its like they don't want to help you at all.
I love Canada
I am a graduate of this university and I am very very displeased that my library account was deactivated last week after almost 2 years of having access post graduation. This is very disappointing as I have an alumni card but this institution does not foster additional academics after graduation. Terrible ethics. Graduates of all levels should still have access to the online collection in addition to the physical books. Why can I take a book out but not look at an article? Shame to have given this place so much of my hard earned money.
Students are paying for the learning and research tools. For example, Carleton U offers free Matlab for EVERY student, while in uOttawa it only exists in engineering and science faculty labs and is not accessible for students from other faculties. You have to pay for it if you want to use it in your cross-disciplinary project. It's 2017 now and you would think a university should understand the importance and the popularity of cross-disciplinary studies.
Went to OU 41 years ago. Nice to visit again.

Came here to attend a meeting. The lack of accessibility here is both astonishing and frustrating! There are stairs EVERYWHERE, a significant lack of push plates for the washrooms! The soap dispenser is out of reach; so using soap after using the washroom was impossible! The elevators don't go to all the floors; so, I had to go in multiple elevators, just to access the second floor! How anyone with a mobility device completes a degree here is beyond me! It gets one star for not charging a rental fee for our meeting.
Honestly, this university is riding on cherry picked reputations achieved years ago. They sold and manipulated me to pursue an undergraduate degree here. Although you'll find some good associate professors on the undergraduate side, going to upper years, especially in the engineering department, they may be super smart and super innovative on the research side, but from a teaching perspective, they make it ever so hard to even enjoy the content you're attempting to learn either because they cannot convey the material sufficiently or put unreasonable regulations and expectations of students. At this university, they assume good researcher = good teacher. Wrong. There is no standards for teaching which means you'll get professors all across the spectrum with no consistency whatsoever. And don't get me started on admin, if you need anything from them, you'll either spend hours on hold or wait weeks for emails to be replied to. The co-op program? There's nothing special about it. They advertise there's an 80% placement rate but it's all government jobs. Government jobs have not helped me further my career, in my honest opinion. I've gotten better jobs looking for internships on my own. I've even found the cleanliness of the various facilities to be abysmal at best; if you want to build new buildings (which is fine), but at least maintain the buildings you already have. Website is hard to navigate, jobs on campus are hard to find and they are relatively disorganized as well. Some pros however, are the location (you're conviently located near the heart of the downtown core) and maybe the high-traffic bus terminals (you'll never miss a bus because there will probably be another one in 5-10 minutes. I wish I had more nice things to say. Too bad.
Great city, great campus, great people!
UOttawa engineering student, hate the school, most of my profs couldn't speak english clearly, not that it mattered because the students end up teaching themselves. I lived in Brooks, wouldn't advise anyone to live there, its very expensive and you WILL NOT be able to find someone to sublet in the summer, so be prepared to be stuck with a $3000 rent over the summer months while you're not there. Administration will charge you for every document you send their way and no one will give you guidance anywhere. I can't even call my faculty when I have a question because they no longer answer phone calls. Perfect example of a greedy institution. If you go there you will feel like the school is trying to make you give up on your education. They don't want you to succeed, and if you're a Canadian citizen, the don't care about you at all because you are only one small tuition payment. International students get special treatment, but thats no big surprise since they're tuition is like 10 grand per semester. Good luck to everyone who has no other choice, you'll wish you did.
Be CONSISTENT with the application that you use for virtual meetings! Choose either ZOOM or TEAMS, not one for some and the other for others, and save time and frustration for your students and employees!!!!
Went along with a friend for her booster shot and found that it was also a walk in so I received my booster shot at the same time

LOVE this university!
Fantastic
This is a great University.... as long as you don't hold a Canadian citizenship. It doesn't matter what race or colour you are, if you hold Canadian passport they couldn't care less about you. Now if you're a foreign student paying international tuition fees you're set, Ottawa U has a policy of not punishing foreign students for blatant cheating and plagiarism as long as the tuition money keeps coming in. Not to mention you get priority admission and first choice in class selection. Canadian students meanwhile get last pick of everything, get treated like crap by the administration, and can't even expect to have their names said right at convocation.
The food situation on campus is nothing short of deplorable.
Worst decision of my life. A bunch of bitter, disrespectful, unfriendly quebecers who are only thinking of ways to screw people over and ruin their lives. worst science program with absolutely no logic and no organized schedules. dean will not help you when you need help, a bunch of kids are given the power to give you a good or bad mark. Worst experience of my life. I recommend you forget your ambitions and get a job or go to algonquin or carleton over this school!...
I worked on taking the dome down over the football field its Avery nice Feild theygot there

Teach your staff the basics of customer service.
Really good Much better than we all expected. SERIOUSLY.
I would rate 0 stars if I could. Do not judge a university based solely on their rankings. UOttawa gives people a terrible undergraduate experience, it's all about the money. The administration is a joke and they are not going to bother improving it, since they only care about their RANKING and RESEARCH. All the negative reviews on here are true! DO NOT COME HERE!
Great university and clean environment.
Paying too much money for what they supply, the wifi is very slow which is very frustrating when you need to get work done. The food court is nothing compared to Carleton University's food court, even though you pay more at university of Ottawa. It's very disorganized, very old website that is hard to navigate. I wasn't able to find a certain piece of information on the English website but then switched over to the french version and found it. They didn't post it in English for a very long time. Making a schedule was very complicated due to their system being very outdated and difficult to use. Profs seem pretty okay but they don't know how to help their students with anything other than their own course information. Most profs didn't even know where to get a lab coat from (these profs were from bio and chem). This means the school doesn't communicate well with their students or profs.
I don´t doubt that uOttawa is a good institution with positive things like French immersion and Co-op programs. However, admission process is very unpleasant. When you try to call certain offices, it can take up to 45 minutes until you reach them, and when you do, they want to get rid of you the fastest they can, you have max 1 min. to ask all the info you want. They present themselves like the most important university in the world. Plus, if you are an international student, they will do anything to make you pay the full price. No engagement at all to help you.
it was good
(Translated) Unbelievable to have suspended a teacher for what she teaches. Too bad that 0 is not possible. Atrocious direction. (Original) Pas croyable d'avoir suspendu une prof pour ce qu'elle enseigne. Dommage que 0 n'est pas possible. Direction atroce.
I enjoyed the atmosphere there.
This university is extremely corrupt. They manipulate students into giving them more money when they already have tons accumulating. The university attempts to make it accommodating for international students, yet extremely are discriminative and biased towards so many issues. The professors are nothing special. They don't seem to care as much as a lot of other professors in different universities. I would never choose this school in my lifetime, but unfortunately have to attend due to unfortunate circumstances. Unless this school makes a decent change, I will always tell people to avoid coming here. If I could rate this a negative zero, I would.
Good
????????????
Great campus. Lots of activities. Great students with wild parties. One of the best university in Canada. Really proud to be a part of it.
I've met some really great people at the university of Ottawa. The buildings look beautiful in summer and fall with all of the ivy growing on it. I love that we are near the rideau centre and close to the downtown area where students can work. I'm in the music program and I have learned a lot. The profs are great and really know what the are talking about.
Without the never ending construction the campus would be much easier to navigate.
