Our health care system is broken, with this hospital being a main example of that. Our dear sister was transferred there, a hour and a half away from home, and it was merely impossible to touch base with her nurse and physician in regards to how to help her. We have dealt with our sister's mental health situation for 10+ years, we know her better than anyone out there. She was discharged today, apparently, with not one of our family members knowing where she went. This is HIGHLY concerning considering how unstable she was entering the hospital (1 week ago) and when I spoke with her yesterday she seem very agitated, unstable and manic - behaviour I have seen in the past with my sister which has escalated into crisis situations. Your workers are burnt out and have zero compassion for patients (and their family members who are simply trying to help them), evidently. Get in and get out as fast as possible - is the tone at Waypoint. I was a Board Member of CMHA and as we all know, mental health is not so black and white, and loved ones must advocate for their sick family members. The fact that NOT ONE nurse or worker can tell us where my sister is, is utterly disturbing to know how this hospital runs and knows so minimal about mental health and how to properly care for their patients.
