I've had my fair share of trips to the hospital in the last 25 years. I've never once felt that this place was inadequate in any way, shape, or form.

I would give them 0 stars if it would let me. The staff here are beyond RUDE! I cannot believe how they speak to not only their patients, but also the concerned friends and family of their patients. Sickening! There is a general lack of concern towards their patients. They do not inform their patients as to what is going on. There seems to be a lack of communication on all levels. Ending with the patients being ignored and not communicated with. Any general inquiries are met with hostility and aggression. Very disappointing experience overall. I hope I never have to stay here for any lengthy amount of time.

It took sometime to get in the emergency room, after days of shuffling around due to a breathing issue, I had a ultrasound on my neck about 1-2 weeks ago and haven't heard any results back, not even a peep. They said it would of been 2-3 business days but the issue has not been resolved, heck it has became worse. I am avoiding going back in there due to how slow and dastardly the place is, I'd rather suffer in pain then put up with the wasted time.

The ER doctors range from incompetent (through belligerence) to one excellent ER specialist who would be everyone's go to doctor if he was a GP! On staff psychologists have a bureaucratic, superior, elitist attitude that can lead to diagnoses that have nothing to do with a patient's actual condition...and God help a senior who gets dumped in 5 north while waiting for placement! Perhaps the street address, '666' has more to do with patient care than is at first obvious!

Waited in the hospital for 7 hours because my girlfriend had severe pain in her overies and her family doctor recommended going to the ER. Nurses are rude as hell, no help at all. I’m sitting here worried we might not be able to have kids and I’m watching 3 nurses sit and chit chat. Worst place in Alberta

I would also score this hospital lower if I could. My wife had a horrendous visit there. The 2 over privileged so called RN's manning the ER desk treated her so poorly we spent the whole evening worrying if her lab results would even make it to a doctor. They had the nerve to belittle my wife and claim she was the problem whilst threatening to sick the security on her. What a joke, a complete joke. To think those lol kids are the hospitals future! Go to Bow Island!

Pam the lpn on 3 north was amazing. I had a hysterectomy and she was nothing but wonderful to me. So caring and compassionate. It made my stay and experience so much more easy. I don’t think I could have done as well as I did and felt as comfortable if it wasn’t for her. Thank you Pam, you are wonderful!

The deserve no stars. My 8yr old son seriously grated his foot on concrete had peices coming out of everywhere so we didn't wait in the waiting room. We did however wait in the back for 3 and a half hours. Our initial nurse even asked the doctor to come see him or give him something for pain. He replied I'm not picking up his chart and walked away. All the while in the 3 and a half hours the hospital refused to see him the bleeding never stopped I cleaned it off him because they couldn't be bothered and he didn't stop crying and screaming in pain. This same doctor however had 6 minutes to stop and pick his nose rip out a couple nose hairs inspect them before wiping them on his pants going back to picking his nose. He didn't wash his hands. We went to Bow Island and my child was immediately seen they are not only amazing they do their job well and are happy to be there. MEDICINE HAT HOSPITAL SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO REMAIN OPEN. they are I'll equipped and have a history or negligence. Noone in there cares about your health

Emergency is terrible! I was having a miscarriage and they brought in people with possible broken bones before me... They may have known there was nothing they could do, but I did not, and they did nothing. I was bawling in 3 DIFFERENT WAITING ROOMS FOR ALMOST 3HRS, with my 2.5yr old daughter. There was no compassion. It was one of the worst experiences of my life, on top of the worst experience of my life.... I hate that this is the only emergency or urgent care option in the city!!

Only 3 stars.... they were excellent when my son decided to headbutt our bike rack....quick and caring for him... for me however getting endoscopy done, the receptionist was nice and everything thought oh good ! Nurse missed vein for iv DUG around to get it....severe bruising on my arm....got iv in hand instead...more terrible bruising from that and almost had it slip out while she was getting tape. ...understandable....HOWEVER when the doctor went to start the endoscopy doesn't wait for the nurse to administer the medicine to make me sleep and shrugs when she says " I didn't get her medicine in her!" Then I have a majob issue....terrible bedside on his end *pardon the pun*

Hospital is a joke, outside of a few good nurses and people who seemed to care, no one listened to anything we had to say. Anytime ask a question would be taken as hostility and completely avoid answering. Complete disregard for the people who they are paid to help. Complete shit show, get no answers no care, get treated like a nuisance.

Id give a rating in the negative never seen or heard such vulgur immature adults in my life i felt like i walked into a middle school. Nurses making fun of patients standing around gossiping mistreatment of patients worst experience of my life worst hospital ive ever had to go too.

Sprained my ankle and came here, got an x-ray and the ER doctor told us from across the room “its not broken”, told me to leave, and left. He failed to tell me there was a bone that was chipped off that I found out about a year later because it had been causing me pain. Because of his negligence it didn’t heal, and I now have to get surgery to remove it, thanks!

The doctor and nurses that took care of me with my hip replacement, were awesome!!! I don't have a bad word at all. The hospital is clean, could use brighter colors in the halls and floors, but overall, I'm very impressed with the team I had.

My mother had to spend 10 days on floor 5. She received great care. Just spending time there I appreciate the pressures that the nurses have to look after sick people. The food was very good for a hospital. Thanks for your care.

Its pretty good but its busy I had burned my finger and ended up going in an ambulance but if your not there with EMS its pretty slow but they do try to help as fast as they can

I'm very very thankful my Son survived child birth, I need to ask though; why did you allow his mom to go through labor for 30 hrs after her water broke? Seems like a very very dangerous situation, especially when we approved a c section the minute we walked in. Could someone please explain this to me?

My mother in law passed away this past Saturday. The nursing staff on 4 west were absolutely amazing. I cannot say enough about them...Tammy...Wanda...Courtney...Chelsey...I know I have missed some but they were wonderful. It was a very difficult time during COVID but they were very gracious to allow us to be with her when she passed. Cannot say enough about these angels....thank you ...thank you for making this time so much more peaceful for the family.

I was there and they refused to treat a woman because she had drug issues. She could have died on the way as they carted her off to an ambulance to go 3 hours away to Calgary. Whatever happened to do no harm?

The staff in the children's wing were amazing with my son when he had to stay. It was a very scary and a whole new normal situation in our lives and we actually felt prepared when we left. I know now not many families in our situation get to say that after leaving the hospital.

I would suggest going to any other hospitals, Bow Island, Brooks even Calgary. Doctors will be in no rush to help you! I would even suggest that old guy behind the Tim Hortons with a rusty knife! Be more helpful!

I came in, in a lot of pain and the staff was just wonderful. At first they thought it was a sever infection then discovered it was my appendix. They took great care of me and I was in surgery come the morning. They all did a great job taking care of me especially my nurse Ashely her understanding, care, compassion and sense of humour was just what I needed

I brought my son into the cast clinic yesterday and everyone was very helpful and friendly. The clinic ran so smoothly with xrays and review by the doctor that we were out of there in no time.

Great facilities And renovations have made the building look like it belongs in the 21st century. Free Physiotherapy therapy with a doctors referral, as well as acupuncture. ER was fantastic with my son when we needed.

This emergency room is a joke, I was there with my son tonight and we were FORGOTTEN in the room. Not one person came to check on my son in the almost 3 hours that we were there. When I asked the 6 gossiping nurses standing around talking about their "awesome weekend" how long it would be for my son to be seen the one nurse seemed shocked there was even anyone in the room and proceeded to tell me that it would be a while because they were so "busy".

Terrible place, I waited with a broken toe in the waiting room for 4 hours then waited another hour and a half in a room, x-ray only took 5 mins, then back to the room to wait another hour, finally doctor came, I cannot complain about the pain I was in however the time it took was rediculus, the only reason it took so long was because I wasn't screaming in pain... We pay these people with our taxes, but they take there sweet time in helping you. One of the only hospitals I've been to and its always a terrible time because of the wait and the nurses love to ask eachother about there weekends instead of helping you.

I received exceptional and kind pre and post surgery care here. In day surgery the staff and surgeons were happy and created a great atmosphere. The occupational therapy staff were also very very good to me!!

I had an appointment 6 months waiting list. My tire blew out on the highway. I sat cold in my car for an hour until I got someone to pick me up. I hit the ditch when my tire blew out . I called in to let them know and that I had to wait for a tow truck. Another 2 hour wait for my car to get pulled out as the tow truck said it would take that long all together. However when I called from my cell at the precious lady that picked me up and took me to her house to warm up. The receptionist said if you hurry you could still make it in. I explained it would take an hour for the tow truck to get out here and an hour for me to get in. I would not make it. She was rude and I was just beside myself. She told me that she will reschedule and i would have to wait another 6 months . This is a failure in our heath care system because I need to have this test done. Tomorrow I am calling to book in the U S. I have no choice at this point. Its not my fault my tire blew in the middle of winter and her compassion was at Zero. Did not ask me once if I was ok....thanks a bunch.

I ALSO WOULD RECOMMEND ANY OTHER HOSIPTAL. Staff was very unprofessional and rude. I had a brutal experience with the front lady just now 8:15ish am Nov 1 I go in to get the tims like I have before. And I'm stopped and asked if I'm a patient and I told the lady about a month ago I was in and out for diabetes and since then I have visited the tims a handful of times and this time I was told in a mocking attitude "you can't be here just for the tims" I explain my past problems and how I took my insulin for my meal and my blood is lowering as we spoke and she told me I had to go across town to one of the others after I just told her my blood was at 7.7 and I took 6 units of insulin about 20 minutes prior (you do the math) i was very very disappointed that our hospital put me in a bad situation driving across town with possible low low blood sugars with no care or remourse medicine hat hospital is a JOKE.

Hostile environment. Not professional at all. (Nurse dropped a box of masks and put it back on counter). Emegency nursing staff aggressive, on edge, and rude. Do not go to emergency for mental health... they will take away all your rights and treat you like a prisoner when all you want is help. Worst hospital in this province! Hands down and agreed by many of our Medicine Hat citizens. Go to calgary or bow island because this hospital is a complete joke and they all need to realize they are a huge reason why the suicide rate in Medicine Hat is do high.

Here I am making review and point. I been emergency numerous time. I had severe pain in my stomach. Never ever received right treatment or got treated nice in hospital. Doctor told me there is nothing wrong with you. Requested them to do my test but they didn’t do it. Doctor told me you don’t have colitis. Now I m being a diagnosed colitis and going through terrible pain. I m super mad at this staff. Shame on theses people????

The administration at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital are far too closed minded by not accepting the BEST trained doctor in Medicine Hat, Dr Schneider. Doctor Schneider is a Naturopath. Therefore he is not just a fully licensed M.D. Dr Schneider has several more YEARS of additional training in many other modalities of health care besides the conventional ways of merely treating the symptoms. Research (once finally starting to be done/funded) PROVES 'alternative' health care to be superior to conventional methods any way.. Therefore it is certainly time to get with the times and start accepting proven superior health care and allowing the most qualified doctors, such as Dr Schneider, to have access to patients records and test results!

I have had to go here twice. Both times the staff were quick and efficient and I was in and out in less than 30 minutes which is pretty amazing for a hospital. They are especially good with kids in the blood lab too. My only concern is that if you aren't from here, its easy to get lost. A bit more information sign wise would be helpful and really, lets get rid of the paid parking. Sick people should not have to pay for parking. You don't anywhere else you go to see a medical practitioner.

Disappointing is a good summary of this hospital. Scheduled for surgery at 8am, still waiting for it at 8pm. Would not allow even a glass of water for over 12 hours while waiting. Haven’t seen a nurse in over 4 hours. Ignoring patients is not how health care should be provided

Showed up at the ER at 10:30, my wife had shortness of breath, and extremely uncomfortable chest for a couple days, they checked her in, after sitting for two hours, numerous people have been let in with us still sitting. This place is a joke, I am from Saskatchewan and I hope I never get sick in Medicine Hat. Not my only bad experience, my mother in law was admitted for a week and the nurses were more worried about gossiping at the nurse station then checking in on her, when I asked they scoffed at me. Our tax dollars hard at work people.

Patients walk in and if they are wearing mask the ladie at the door says you cant wear your mask you have to put on one supplied here. But the Security lady walks in and just by past the mask switch and keep going I asked her about it and what I got from her is "I dint kno I had too " . And that's not ok I said you come from outside we all have to change mask . She said I was just outside for like 5 mins . Are we suppose to trust that they follow guidelines . No security or med hat police are not exempt for the safety of the people.
