This facility is in desperate need of change. While their moto is "Hope, Integrity, Excellence, Compassion, Respect, and Acceptance" NONE of these qualities are seen or felt by patient's or family. Patient, who are already in a state of emotional overwhelm, are traumatized by the admittance process, ripped of their dignity and seen for their illness rather than for who they are. This place needs immediate attention!
Staff, are in desperate need of retraining in areas of compassionate presence, empathetic care, people skills, de-escalation, spiritual care, bed side manners and active listening. Nursing staff, respond to patient's with cold, impersonal responses, are ill equipped on how to meet family members in their concerns or treat/meet those who are mentally distressed. Staff are still responding from fear and stigma, do not listen and lack genuine care.
I have nothing good to say about this place, other than the kindness shown from the security guards. I empathize with anyone who has had a family member in here, either short term or long. Once people go into this place, they are no longer treated like people, but have their rights, dignity and hope stripped away from them.
My heart hurts with you, if you have been made an involuntarily patient. Until you have experienced this place first hand or had a family member experience this place, you have no idea what its like. I pray that Eden can once again be reformed and refilled with hope and healing as its original creators desired it to be, for emotionally and mentally overwhelmed persons.
