REVIEWS OF Plain of Six Glaciers Teahouse IN Lake Louise

Ally Di Marco

Best trail that I've ever done. Intermediate, takes 14 k return and gives you a wonderful view on the glaciers if going to the end of trail with 1.5km more.

Rob Delach

Hiking all the way up here was definitely worth it. What made it better was that we had 11 people with us. The hike took us a solid 2 hours with small kids as well, but the food up here was definitely worth it. We ordered a couple chili's, nachos and chips, moose cakes, tea, and bread, and they were all very delicious. The experience was something you don't usually get at a height like this, with an amazing view as well. The staff were very kind as well. Just make sure to get up here before 5pm as the teahouse closes.

Adrian Chocholaček

Good hike. Good elevation. Awesome scenery.

Colin Carter

Amazing hiking experience with a tea house right at the end. Unfortunately when I arrived, it was closed, but the hike is easy with some great sites of lake Louise.

Mani

Such a great spot to rest during a hike!

Katherine Fines

really nice resting place to grab food/water if you need. There's washrooms to use too. bring cash! The hike is well worth it :) Really beautiful to see the mountains and seeing lake louise "behind" you the entire time :)

Enrique Pidal

(Translated) Great place at 2000m Pastry extra. A great break after the hike to get there. (Original) Endroit super a 2000m Pâtisserie extra. Une super pause après la rando pour y arriver.

(Translated) Are from the Agnes Tea House via the Big Beehive to the Plain of Six Glaciers. Way is good to go. You have to cross a couple of snow fields from avalanches. Correct footwear is recommended. View and surroundings a dream. Hut is open! Descent to Lake Louise no problem. Have fun! (Original) Sind vom Agnes Tea House über den Big Beehive zum Plain of Six Glaciers. Weg ist gut zu gehen. Ein paar Scheefelder von abgegangenen Lawinen muss man überqueren. Richtiges Schuhwerk empfehlenswert. Ausblick und Umgebung ein Traum. Hütte hat geöffnet! Abstieg zum Lake Louise kein Problem. Viel Spaß!

Paul Kounine

A nice hike. Unfortunately, they were flying people out there the time we got there, so very busy.

John Feng

Really fantastic setting. Fine effort ny the staff despite arduous location. 25CD a meal.

This is a tough hike in the winter, or when the seasons are just changing. The trail gets murky as you leave Lake Louise and leaves you in the middle of the woods. That is both a good and a bad thing. Bad - not fun being along without bear spray during wake-up season. Good - you are blessed with the tranquility of the forest around you without another soul to disturb you. Our recommendation is to give it a whirl, but come prepared.

Best apple pound cake ever

Shawn Wills

Lots of tea selection and food was pretty good just a looong hike to get there

Lukasz (Luke)

Unfortunately, we were not able to reach there due to avalanche...I guess it was closed... the first photo shows summer trail at winter At open season it's the best motivator for all hikers. They actually serve decent food, I like soups they make

Talia Michele Creek

Most amazing scenery. Even got to see an avalanche.

Linh Nguyen

Now this is why I came to Lake Louise. It was quite a hike up that seemed to go on forever, but the end was worth it. The story behind this place is great, and the owner is even better (and her dog is great too!). It is a little chilly up there so bring layers. Cant wait to come back here!

Dan MacK (Dan Da Man)

It's a nice place... Kinda expensive for the worst hot chocolate. And bring money... They charge 4$ for using a credit card...

Rey Cardoza

Excellent hike! A reasonable effort is required and you will need to cross some compact snow shelves. Incredible views of Lake Louise and the glacier. Tea House is great, friendly staff and you must try the home baked bread! A.moderately busy hike although you can go 30 mins without seeing anyone but crossing the snow is a bit of a bottleneck so groups can get bunched. As ways an earlier start is better if you don't like the crowds.

Ravi Chandran

Loved it! Such a quaint little place with yummy cakes and workers who really care!

B Lewerke

Beyond words, an amazing approach hike and vistas, and an overall amazing memory made.

HASSAN CHEEMA

Gorgeous hike on the way, but the Tea house is over hyped. Something to do once to check it off the list.

Justin Naguit

One of the most memorable hikes anywhere

Craig Parder

This tea house was a bit underwhelming. For the distance, there are some much better and less crowded hikes around. And after hiking in the sun, the last thing I want is hot tea. The bathroom is pretty disgusting also.

Bradley Rasmussen

Staff was extremely nice. Food was amazing at least my apple pie that I purchased. Worth a stop on your way to completing the hike.

Stephen Rogoff

Quaint cabin teahouse at the end of a beautiful hike. Great food options, prepared fresh! Note: there are no trash bins, so all garbage needs to be carried back to the trail head.

retnial

The price and quality of food are great! The only negative thing I have is that it is really crowded.

Francisco Peña

After a long hike a nice place for hot drinks and hot food.

Gabrielle Garrett

Lake Louise is very touristy as soon as you approach it from the parking lots. Don't let that deter you. It is a must see and many people travel to see it. There are many hiking trail options here for all levels to make a day of hiking and get away from the tourists snapping photos at base camp at the lake. Once you get to the higher elevations the views will not disappoint!

Jeff s

Great hiking trail from the lake to the tea house. You can see tons of spectacular sceneries along the way. Halfway to the tea house overlooks Lake Louise. I had a hiking trip by myself in spring (some time in May), and everything was still covered with snow. I almost got lost due to the snow-covered trail. Met fellow hikers along the way who also got lost for same. Good thing I had google maps and we were able to manage to find our way up to the tea house. When we got there, the place was so quiet. The tea house was still close for the season. Hiking took about 3 hours or more both ways (depends on how fast you walk). Overall, my hiking experience was full of adventure, fun, thrill and excitement.

Stunning

nice little stop after the end of a moderately strenuous uphill hike ... soup was great and the cake was good too!

Michael Wayman

The hike literally almost killed me. They don’t tell you that it’s like a 20% grade for 5 km or that it’s pretty rocky on the way up. It’s doable! It’s just a hell of a hike up. The tea house at the top is gorgeous. Perfect to recharge and get your glucose up for the trek back down (which is significantly easier). Apparently the people who work there hike the plains everyday and bring all their trash down.

Michael Morgan

Had a lovely walk up here. When the weather is a bit sunny it is lovely to eat and drink something outside. There were a lot of cute Chipmunks walking around definitely not afraid of people. The waitresses are friendly and especially nice with families. They have a cute dog walking around. We just had some tea but judging by the family next to us the chocolate cake is really good ;-)

Akshay Kumar

Awesome pit stop near the end of the plain of six glaciers hike. It's a beautiful log cabin nestled in the forest. Grab a hot tea or coffee and some food to relax after the push to the top (or before to recharge). The place is cash only so bring a little bit. And of course grab some mountain spring water from the nearby stream and hit the washroom before hiking up or down.

(Translated) Plain of Six Glaciers Tea Hous (2,100 meters above sea level) There are four hiking trails in Lake Louise. The Lake Louise Shoreline Lakeside Route, Lake Agnes Teahouse and Plain of Six Glaciers are the most popular choices. Thousands of miles come to Louis, Canada. Silk Lake, you must walk the hiking trail and appreciate the ingenuity of nature. In 1924, Swiss guide Edward Feuz began building a two-storey chalet in CPR overlooking the Six Glacier Plains for the CPR as a way to conquer Mount Victoria and Thunder Resting place for climbers on Mount Lefroy. The mountain path leading to today's tea house winds along the lake and extends up the mountain. From left to right, you will see Mt.Fairview2745m- Mt.Lefroy3423m- Mt.Victory3464m- Mt. Victory North Peak 3418m -Mt.Whyte2987m- Mt.Niblock2976m Also see rock climbers and mountain goats. On the road, you may also encounter guided cycling tours. Lake Louise cycling tours are in short supply. One of the members of this group, Brother Lin, revisited twice after eight years only to fulfill his dream, because he did not complete the trekking route of the tea house 8 years ago, the tea house has two / routes. One (the other lake Agnes teahouse 3.8k will report in another article). The current owner has been in business since 1959 and has been operating until now. The tea house provides easy lunches and sandwiches and of course afternoon tea. It only accepts cash and no credit card, but if you only bring a credit card and insist on spending, he A bill will be sent to you after the fact, and I heard that there will be an additional processing fee. There is no electricity at all, and all electrical appliances cannot be used, so as the name suggests, meat cannot be refrigerated because there is no refrigerator. Hours aren't indicated anywhere... Arrived to find it closed, not so so bad. But to be met with rude and disrespectful staff...

Laura Perez

Justin Wiley

Very excellent food. We had lentil soup with a pepper-cheese sandwich, biscuits with honey and jam, cherry green tea and vanilla black tea. A must return. Staff helpful and friendly. Bring Canadian dollars, they also have a small gift shop. Hike up has snow on some parts, but you can walk around it, and there are only 5 actual switchbacks. Overall very manageable hike.

John Kirkpatrick

Very friendly staff. Good food. I’m end up with hummus and I liked it....(i kinda dont like hummus)

Joe Holbrook

Great service and amazing little location. Options of hot food specials, fresh baked tea biscuits & bread as well as a selection of tasty soups and salads. Perfect place to stop and rest before a long hike.

Christoph Beeler

(Translated) Cozy house, in a place where you would not expect a house. Were there in June. A bit chaotic, otherwise worth a visit. (Original) Gemütliches Häus`chen, an einem Ort an den man kein Häus`chen erwarten würde. Waren im Juni dort. Etwas chaotisch, ansonsten einen Besuch wert.

John Chik

Great place to stop after a long hike.

Melissa H

This is a great place to go! Get early to get a parking spot at Lake Louis then start the journey. 6 Km to the tea house+1 Km to the Six Glaciers point view. Kids can do the trail I saw 8, 10, 12 years old kid doing it. Bring cash if you want to buy something at the tea house. Coffee is 4 dollars and a meal is something like 8 or 10 dollars (Canadian) Credit cards are accepted but there is a 4 dollars fee.

Dylli T

(Translated) Very nice, because the arduous ascent is profitable. (Original) Sehr schön, da rentiert sich der beschwerliche Aufstieg.

John Mulder

Incredible! Well worth the long hike. Pack lots of water and some food just in case it isn't open.

David Cy

Very good place to eat and drink after an exhaustive hiking. Try the apple cake, is a big size portion and delicious! Very friendly service!

Melissa Parry

Delicious soup and good tea selection

Karen C

Coffee and cake at the halfway point of a 12km hike is a nice surprise.

Dennis Cao

I came in with the expectation that we were 10km up the trail and we got what we got, but the food was really really good. It's about $25 for a full meal, I got soup, a drink, a delicious PB&j sandwich on home made bread, and some cake. It was a ton of food but was all really delicious. Say hi to Arlo the dog, they said it's his 11th season up there. Hopefully he has many more.

Sarah Joy Ramos

We hiked up on Mon. June 12 never dreaming we should have brought ski poles! We loved the Orange Pekoe tea and Tuscany Barley soup (tried to upload picture) and brought our Banff Tea Co. thermos to refill and drink at end of hike. Awesome, unforgettable day hike!

The Dillons

A long walk but it was amazing. Only take cash so be careful. Friendly staff. Limited and slighly expensive menu but it's what you need after a long hike.

Steven Tai

Authentic!

Tim Ou

Awesome hike. The chocolate cake was awesome!

Andrea Paganini

Great place, but be sure to take cash, credit cards not accepted.

Brandin Wetzel

Chocolate and chocolate cake, with the best view.

Jonathon Lintott

Awsome. Very long hike to get there.

Kevin Coghlan

Great reward after a good hike.

Sarry Z

MUST GO IN BANFF. Love the hike. The views are astounding! The tea house is a great stop to rest and grab some homely food or soup in a rustic setting. You can proceed to six glaciers if you’re ok with the extra detour, though the last portion is pretty steep. We saw an avalanche though at six glaciers, which was pretty cool.

ThatRogueSTEVE

Fun stop for refueling and relax on the hike! Delicious sandwiches and tea.

Arpin Bhullar

Beautifull hicking but hard to found the path in winter time

Jean-Francois Garneau

Zoya Ignatjeva

Great place and food is amazing. Tip bring cash

Richard Chu

Pleasantly surprised...was expecting just tea, but they had other hot drinks as well, which was nice as by the time we got here, it started to get cold. Hot chocolate was good. The tea biscuits were extremely tasty!!!

Esther James

Very cool place to hike to!

Sean Abraham

This way a hard hike but it beautiful when you get this The Tea house staff are welcoming

Ali Ghajar

It was a cold and rainy Canada Day when we hiked up Tea House. The great food was even more welcomed at the end of that hike! They prefer cash, and you need to pack you garbage back down. They do provide a paper bag. As many noted, the chocolate cake is excellent! They also made great biscuits too!

Andrea Zoppo (Ms. Ladybug)

viewpoint on the ice-topped mountains ; good hut for a stop during a hike

Alexandre Tremblay

(Translated) Hike of moderate difficulty, highly recommendable in summer. And good reward when you get to the tea house, where they offer you different healthy options to eat or drink. (Original) Caminata de dificultad moderada, super recomendable en verano. Y buena recompensa al llegar a la casa de te, donde te ofrecen distintas opciones sanas para comer o beber.

Tom Moloney

Great atmosphere , friendly staff and homemade foods.. Well worth the Hike to get there.

David C

When you walk for three hours around Lake Louise towards the glaciers and you end up finding a Tibetan style teahouse, you trully feel part of a movie. Its simply beautifull, and the view of six glaciers makes it unique in the planet

Brian Pirot

Favorite place in the world. Everything tastes better when you know it had to be packed in. On the hike down we were passed by the waitress running the mountain trail. And later we saw her running up the trail with a pack full of supplies. Much respect.

Janet Clarke Bell

Off grid, a welcome oasis. Offering refreshments even though not fully open for the season. Good soup after our trek across the ice fields and ridges above Lake Loiuse.

Brian Won

What an amazing respite in the midst of a day of hiking from Lake Louise to Lake Agnes to Big Beehive lookout to (almost the top of) Devil’s Thumb to the plain of the six glaciers! The Tea House was a joy to experience. The homemade chocolate cake, coffee, and tea put a spring back in our tired steps and the metal mug is my favorite souvenir from our trip to the Canadian Rockies...because it reminds me that rugged beauty exists in the mountains and in the people who live there! Keep up the good work.

Jake Schuldt

If you are visiting lake Louise and are into hiking, spend the time to go up to the tee house. The views and the hike is well worth it.

Katharine Ng

So cute and so perfect.

Jonas Cafferty

Beautiful

Malcolm Lay

Quite a hike but beautiful views

Peter Hofer

A lovely hike to great place with awesome food and friendly staff!

Antonio Parra

(Translated) Superb place for a good rest with a good meal. (Original) Superbe endroit pour un bon repos avec un bon repas.

Michael Benjamin

Unbelievably gorgeous and delicious! It wasnt too crowded and the cake is too die for! It was so refreshing after the hike up the mountain, I could swear it was the best sandwich I have ever eaten.

Gina Blank

Very good food. Definitely pricey but for good reason (because of the location). Service was also good. We're got the full meals which came with soup, sandwich, tea, and dessert which was all delicious. My wife has dreams about the cheese sandwich if you can believe that.

Kwin Marion

All stars are for location and view. Chocolate cake is so so. .... Coffee was burnt. But after you hike all the way here, you wouldn't really care and eat anything you get. You could bring your own food and picnic right in front of the tea house. Staff is nice. They live without electricity. They hike up and work 5 day shifts.

Quinton Gessner

Great views, great food, great staff. Get there early jn the day before it gets too busy.

David Nuernberger

Absolutely incredible views!

Michael Reeves

They do a lot for where they are located. Limited options as expected, but great taste. Nice spots to sit and eat or take your food to go. Prices fair for where they are. Remember to carry cash!!

Carla Norheim

We first stopped at Lake Agnes Teahouse but decided to come here instead due to business of the other tea house. However, it ended up being a 20km hike. Love the chill vibe at this teahouse. Cash only.

E P

More spectacle than restaurant. Food selection is fairly limited, but decent quality An excellent place to rest after climbing about 350m

Jordan Roy

This place is soooo cool. Bring Canadian cash as this is a no electricity kind of place. I think their surcharge on credit cards is like 6$ because someone has to hike out to the village to make it work, so bring cash. Were there in September got really lucky and got to see al the glaciers. The tea house itself is super, we had a cheese sandwich, their hot special and the chocolate cake ( treat yourself you walked all this way!). It was all amazing Their bread game is really strong! Staff is super helpful and nice, super cool, low waste, small footprint scenario.

Josiah Workman

Amateur staffs. You don't get a good view from the outdoor tables where you are asked to sit if you want to dine in. They serve everything in disposal containers. So, I would have asked for a to go and would have eaten at the bench in front of the glaciers. Biscuit was not baked enough to my taste. But the vegetarian chili was unique and nice.

Prateek Singh

I swear to God those were the best sandwiches I've had in my entire life

Kevin Buehler

This place is truly amazing. We loved the chocolate mint black tea and the creme caramel rooibos- so delicious. The service was so friendly and fast, prices and the seating area was adorable. The views are obviously out of this world!

Huu Mai

After an early morning hike in sub zero temperatures, the tea house was a welcome sight. The staff were extra friendly and happy to see us. The tea was hot and the cake was tasty.

Ross Pownall

Awesome Beautiful VIEW

Mike Love

Didnt have a chance to try the tea house but everything about the area was amazing

andrew lievesley

Made this hike last Saturday. Great views all the way up. Topped it of with tea, lemonade and a super peanut butter and jam sandwich on the home made bread at the tea house. A great time was had by all.

Rob McAlister

Amazing place worth the walk up fantastic food great staff thank you

Douglas Whitaker

Anything tastes good after huffing it up the mountain side. Service was very friendly. Sandwich bread was dry and crumbly (home made), would have got the wrap in a do-over

Tim Neuf

Quaint..original bldg fro 1927. N Electricity, no wifi, no cell service, but wonderful just the same.

Christina L.

great hike! pretty busy and not overly difficult but beautiful views the entire hike!!

Satoru Taylor

Kind stuff, wonderful place to rest and eat to refill energy before another hike. Tomato soup for 7 cad, menu for 24 cad that contain soup, sandwiches and sweet cake. Price is corresponding.

Emily Luthra

After a long hike, this cafe is an awesome break. It's cooler up in the mountain, has a great view, and the staff is very nice. The food options are very limited, but it's a nice snack. There's also a huge porcupine that hangs out and is funny to watch.

Luc Desaulniers

(Translated) nice and pleasant hike past lake louise, the ascent is worth it, you are rewarded with a great view over the country and there is also good food and drink, of course no star cuisine but it goes very well with the ambience. Of course, good hiking gear and shoes are highly recommended to come here, don't forget your camera. The opening times of the teahouse vary, but are easy to find out.

Reginald Blackwell

Arlo is the best host ever.

Michael Jones

Beautiful tea house and the best caramel apple pound cake!!

Sara Tavakolian

Hike up takes about 2 hours for your average goer and the trail while a moderate difficulty can get dicey at times, it's totally worth it. The hike up reveals several different angles of grand views. Once to the top you can continue on to a glacier viewing spot or stop at the tea hut for a snack/drink. The prices are very reasonable given how they get the supplies up there (cash only or a 6 dollar charge for credit card in an emergency). We had hot chocolate and chocolate cake which was very tasty and provided energy for the trek back down. I would recommend this hike to anyone looking for a moderate to hard hike.

Kiel Stewart

This is a fave hike of ours aND we make the hike every fall when it's not as crazy busy!!! Beauty views and a good work out!! Well worth the hike!! The desserts are fabulous!

Tyler Crichton

Worth the climb, order the soup!

SUPPTGBTC KEY

Great little tea house along the six glaciers hike. Be sure to bring CADs, there is an additional charge for using USD or credit cards.

אורי רונן

Very friendly staff

Eugene Goloversa

Awesome hike. Try to do both teahouse trails. 14km round trip for both. Or 6km to 6 Glaciers (that's 12km out to it and back)

Alex P

The staff that are there are very knowledgeable about the Tea House and it's history as well as some of the nearby surroundings. The food is the best, try the Chocolate Cake ????. I have done it twice before and tomorrow, January the 16th 2018 will be my 3rd time. So stoked about it.

Charles McGeoghan

Really cool place to visit after at the end of the hike. Great reward! Keep going a litter further to see the Plain of Six Glaciers up close.

Bernd Fröhlich

Soup was superb and nutritious just what you needed to run back down

Keith Coon

Slightly longer than I thought the trek would be, but the views, and the teahouse are worth it

Jesse Fraser

Very good! Nice trail ...

Conor Chambers

Best chocolate cake in the world. The staff are friendly and always positive.

D Coats

We weren’t planning or prepared for the challenging hike and climb (3k of which were uphill) but were so grateful the Tea House was open. The staff were very COVID-19 friendly. Chili, biscuits, PB and J sandwich and Chai tea were delicious. Thanks you!

Keaton Ambridge

This place is amazing. Went there for the first time. It feels like well earned tea after about five kms hike. Staff is really nice. Most things are made in house. Food is delicious. Little pricey but worth it for the taste and location. It's better to carry some cash as there may be extra charge on card payments.

TL

What a cozy and quaint place to have a snack in the midst of a long hike. The staff were friendly and the food/tea superb

NurseDiv -

Love it out there! These folks are doing a great job and I can gladly recommend their lentils stew!

Jacqueline Telljohann

Welcoming site after a long climb. Prices were reasonable especially considering the amount of work needed to transport ingredients up.

P S

(Translated) Beautiful oasis with a lot of charm, conveyed by the warmth and commitment of the staff. (Original) Schöne Oase mit viel Charme, vermittelt durch die herzlichkeit und das Engagement des Personals.

Wen Jiang

Love this place, worth the hike!

Shikhanshu Agarwal

A very cool little cafe.

outcast569

Great staff and food

Max Dondo

Overpriced low quality meals, a complete rip off. If you really need to go after the long hike, go for the bottle of water, still overpriced but at least we all know what a bottle of water tastes like.

natalia parra

Worth making it to the teahouse and having a bite. But make you make it in time because they stop cooking at 5pm but they have snacks to buy as well

WILL Schultz [Del Sol HS]

Awesome place. Very delicious quick bites. We had beans with nachos and apple pie. Tea is bit of disappointment. But overall we had a great time sitting there with glacier views.

Kosta Nicolozakes

A truly sweet stop for hikers looking for a treat at the end of their hike.

Mary-Jane Sam

hiked here for a return visit after 11 years. The views on the hike were absolutely stunning and yes...after a long hike, any food sounds good. The staff was friendly, the food really was good and given the fact that they don't have electricity, they do a pretty amazing job. Cash only, but not that big a deal considering the remote location! Would definitely visit again.

Ken McBride

A rustic structure 2100 metres above Lake Louise. A welcome site for hikers. Cash only. All currencies accepted. An experience not to be missed on your visit to the Canadian Rockies!

Roberto Urrea

Food is good but pricey. I understand why though, as they must either helicopter in food or carry it up on their backs and it is not an easy hike!! Good selection of tea.

Jasmin Descent

Neat little teahouse with food and delicious soup. Food could be warmer but it was also 19 degrees when I went.

Stéphanie Erné

Another awesome place for a tea house! It’s a good stopping point when you are hiking to Plain of Six Glaciers, as the end of the trail is roughly 30-45 minutes past this point! The tea house itself is roughly 2-3 hours from Lake Louise, but well worth it!

Dave Jay

Quaint tea house in a spectacular location. The food is nothing special, especially given the prices, but the experience of eating at one of these more traditional tea houses is worth it.

Agnesse777

Yep you earn your meal here. Note that its at the top of a mountain...so in no bad way understand that it will be a bit more expensive than usual. However everything is basically in house made and is exactly what you want after climbing a mountain. The hummus is excellent and the apple loaf was my fave. I also super appreciate the reasonableness of the souvenir costs.

MK Dee

Incredible hike, farther then expected but well worth it! Watch your step coming down

Ryan Hanson

Nice place. especially the view. Make sure u bring cash, they charge $6.00 extra if you put on your credit card. Understandable since they don’t have electricity. But $6.00 is a lot if you’re already being $3.95 for a cup of tea that is not even hot. A small piece of chocolate cake was $6.50 and not even good. It crumbles when you poke your fork through (wasn’t fresh).

Jason Kwasny

Great food and tea, a welcome break on an amazing hike

Jessica Way

Hot chocolate was pretty good but a tea bag is not acceptable for a decent cup of tea. Don't waste your money on the tea.

T J

Beautiful hike at the end of Lake Louise.Teahouse is a gem, nice respite before starting the trek back.

V K

Chocolate cake was delicious

Robert Dickson

Delicious meal... friendly staff...

Joshua Macks

Walk up, you will not be disappointed.

Dionysios Gosselin

The views from the area around the tea house are literally the best in the world. It is the most stunning scenery I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot. The hike itself is fine for anyone of moderate fitness levels. We did it in 4 hours roundtrip, not included the hour we spent taking in the views along the way. I cannot recommend this hike enough. It will be one of the highlights of your life!

Little Joe Fontana

Awesome place. Great services. Kind people, amazing food. Great vegetarian options

Jonathan Roth

This teahouse is around 6 km from lake Louise and the hike is really rough and steep. So, be prepared and bring water and an umbrella. We were super hungry by the time we reached the teahouse and it was raining. There are only a few tables in the shade. We ordered hot chocolate, home made bread, soup of the day and hot meal of the day (Mac & Cheese). The service was quick and prices were affordable. Most items were good especially the soup but the Mac & cheese was just edible. So the city people, do not compare your Mac and cheese with this ????

Sebastian Kluth

Don't use your credit card! They will overcharge it by 2-3x and then deny a refund once you have left town. Appalling and fraudulent.

Zara Wishloff

Definitely worth the hike up there. Will never forget this place.

Nathan Anderson

While I have not partaken in any of the teahouse offerings, even if they served swamp water the hike alone would make this a 5 star. The views are absolutely stunning anytime of the year, and particularly so in the winter. It is worth your time to hike any day of the year, with or without the tea house offerings, and if that's your jam even more reason to do so!

Allan Benvin

An experience of a lifetime. Amazing place to visit.

Jaime Webster

At the end of a good hike, a welcome sight. Food and drinks are excellent (there is more than just apple pie) and the staff are great.

Rob MacDonald

The hike is great. Super spectacular. The tea house is pretty dull. Very crowded, didn't have a view and was pricy. Skip the tea house and do the hike.

Steve Won

Breathtaking views

PATRICK MCKOWEN

Great secluded spot. Wonderful food and staff.

Antoine Mailhot

Didn't say cash only, charged $6 for using Visa

Get the chocolate cake and you won't regret it!

Zach L

Pleasant stop during a hike. Good tea and biscuits.

Will Mackinnon

Great place to sip on some tea after a beautiful hike!

Andy Finkel

Teahouse is a must

Carter Perrier

Worth the hike for the atmosphere and scenery

Jeffrey Grabell

Nice place to have a tea and enjoy the mountain views. But be early the place can fill up.

Rosanna Chau

Nice scenic hike but too much horse droppings on the trail. The tea house was nice to get out of the rain when we went up but they are very out dated for handling large crowds which are growing every year. They should have more shelters for hikers to get out of the rain and have their lunches they brought with them. Or bring lots of cash, small lunch for 4 was 70$ with 20% gratuity which the staff earned well. Cheers

Edwin Chau

We got a huge dollop of butter with our tea biscuits, and it was amazing. The vegetarian chili was delicious. They kind of accept credit cards, but via the old (old) school system of a carbon relief. There's also an extra charge for this, because they have to hike the receipts down every so often. I'm not sure how that's any more difficult than hiking down with cash, but there's nothing to do about it, you're a captive audience.

Rewarding teahouse at the end of an amazing hike. This place has some great views of the glaciers and surrounding mountains. The teahouse is hidden off the plain of six trail but I assure you it’s there. The teahouse has a great offering of teas and meals after the long hike. You may have to wait for a table to sit down. Definitely a must if looking for a hike near Lake Louise.

Great

Ophelia Vecchione

Loved this little tea house! After the hike to get there, I felt totally justified in having a piece of chocolate cake (at 9am).

The tea house offers a selection of soups and baked goods either to eat at the hut or to take away. If you are looking to get away from the crowds and want to hike for a few hours then go! Amazing views and a chance to experience one of the original stone huts built by Swiss guides to help bring people into the classic peaks of the Canadian Rockies. With any luck, you can see Arlo, the tea house dog. He spends every summer at the tea house. Maybe you'll see a horse train (which has happened to me the last two times I hiked up to the Plain of the Six Glaciers) or a marmot (one walked through the tables on my last visit). Also, look up at the cliffs at the end of the lake... they are popular with local climbers. All in all, an intro to the alpine environment around Lake Louise. Budget 4-6 hours, depending on how fast you hike and how long you want to linger. Cash is preferred, but you can pay by credit card though there is a service fee. When I went the tea house was in full COVID mode. Hand sanitizer was provided at the front archway and all the staff were wearing masks. Special attention was made to space out patrons. To help minimize the chance of infection they were using disposable plates and cups. You are asked to take your garbage with you so that the staff don't need to worry about handling and storing used materials. But don't let this deter you. Everyone was very polite and all materials were compostable or recyclable. You are even provided with paper bags if you'd like.

Simply incredible view. The apple pie, biscuits and lemonade were well worth the hike.

The kid waitress certainly wasn't happy when we were not to order food but only drinks.

I don't even know where to start with this review, it was simply just one of the most memorable things I have ever experienced. We had no idea what we were getting into.. we wanted an easy hike and just decided to go this direction until we had enough. As we walked the views just got more and more amazing, and before long we knew we would go to the Tea House. How could you not want to go further? As you get closer to the top, people on their descent will keep telling you "almost there! Not much longer!". When you finally get to the house you know it's worth it (not that the views along the way weren't already worth it). The house itself is adorable. The staff are lovely, they stay up there during the week and will happily chat with everyone. Remember to bring cash and the hot chocolate and cake are amazing! (Especially after the hike, you've earned it). The journey down is just as amazing. You get a chance to see everything you passed at a different angle, and now it's your chance to tell everyone "almost there!". Be prepared to encounter some snow at the top especially if it's later in the season. Wear shoes with grip (not just sneakers) as you will likely encounter some ice. It's a totally do-able hike for almost anyone! This is definitely a hike I'd like to do again.

Brian Rawson

Most awesome hiking experience. Hiked with 8 yr old and she loved it.

The place is good for stopping after the long hike. Definitely known for their teas. The food was decent. The amount of picnic tables and seating is adequate. I’m not sure about the upstairs area since it was closed. The staff were good specially the people taking the order, the server guy not so much.

Francis Coursol

It's nice after a long hike to find a place to sit and enjoy some warm beverages. Theres a seperate rest area for people who bring their own food, as you aren't allowed to eat non bought food here. The food menu is basic, but sufficient. All said and done it was a very cozy tea house. Definitely unique, considering its on a hiking trail. I'd say go check it out. Also, keep in mind it's cash only.

Kartik Parekh

This place will look like a palace to you after you've hiked your way up. They don't have any electricity and they're very conscious of garbage (as it can be a source of fuel). When we first visited, they had a very large dog that clearly lived up there with the staff. It was friendly and certainly a local of the mountain. Enjoy the view, rest up, and take in some food before continuing on with your hike. My only regret is that I wished they did the Tea House challenge throughout the year. My wife and I visited both tea houses, but didn't get to get the little trinket they give for those who visit both in a day on our visit.

Christopher Lui

A great reward for hiking. The food is delicious, but pricy.

Ryan McGuire

Worth the hike! The lentil curry soup and apple cake were especially good.

Being able to stop at a little teahouse at the end of a long hike (or the middle of a longer hike) was such a novel experience. The only accept cash since there's no electricity or running water. Prices are higher--but, I mean, they're on the side of a mountain and they have to carry everything up with then or helicopter it in so I think that's expected.

Douglas Brain

What a beautiful hike along Lake Louise, the mountains and the valley overlooking the Six Glaciers. A cup of hot tea and homemade soup at the tea house were a great reward after the hike. Fantastic views and very friendly staff. A truly memorable experience

Patrick H

Cool spot! Food is decent, but not meant to be restaurant quality. Just a pit stop type of place. Everything is good except for lemonade. Lemonade is just powder mix.

Peter N

Delicious meal in the center of the scenic landscape!

Anupam Tyagi

This is a great place to stop and get your energy back after the hike up from Lake Louise. The menu is limited but the food is very good, especially considering where you are. Note that they usually stop serving the full menu a few hours before they close. Check with the park centre beforehand if you need to know the times.

Ed Kelso

It was worth the hike! The tea house itself is a nice place after the 6km hike from lake louise. They only accept cash coz there's no signal there! The view of the rockies are absolutely amazing!

Daowei Lin

It’s cute and worth checking out. The hike to the tea house wasn’t terribly difficult and worth the view. Be warned! Take CASH if possible! They charge $4 to use a credit card if you don’t have cash. They took my credit card info since apparently they don’t have dial up. However I am giving them 3 stars because they accidentally charged my card TWICE, which makes me a touch nervous. Check your bill if you use credit card!!!! It cost $4 per drink. Extra water in your tea is an extra charge, but the vanilla tea I had was delicious! Cups are a little small but when you’re parched, it’s worth it. I liked the raspberry drink, albeit it tasted like regular fruit punch. I didn’t know how to contact them so I messaged them on Facebook. Initially they apologized and responded quickly, but they never issued a refund! Apparently the owner was camping in the bank country. Fine. However, when I followed up, I got no response! That was super frustrating! Eventually someone else responded and they were super kind and refunded my money, but I’m assuming they don’t have great connection and it was a little spotty when they responded. Overall it’s cute and I really appreciated being able to get a hot drink, especially after hiking to the glaciers, which is super super windy. Grateful it is there, and it was fun to be able to pause and take a break and have something nice and hot before or after your trek the rest of the way up towards the glaciers if you dare~ It’s not a far hike afterwards, but it can get quite windy so I would definitely bundle up by the tea house before you proceed.

We did a long loop hike starting at Lake Agnes tea house, taking the Highline Trail, and finally ending at the Plain of Six Glaciers tea house. We arrived sometime around noon. It was pretty crowded there, but there were a few open tables. The menu looked pretty pricey for what it was, but supplies have to be carried up, so I'm sure that contributes. The view of the mountains from the balcony were really pretty, but the view was better on the benches a few hundred feet away by the trail. There were out houses there as well. The views on the hike up are gorgeous. I'm sure the tea house is a great place to relax after a long hike, but we were eager to start our decent. Don't miss the views from Abbot Pass 1.3km past the tea house!

Sheldon

The walk is fantastic. The tea house packed , the soup and food good. The toilets (long drop) the smelliest in Canada!... still worth the 4.5 mile walk from the car park by Lake Louise.

Jo Fuss

Nice people. Great setting.

Jose E

We hiked here mid June and it was a lot of fun. You have to dress up for the weather (in June there is still plenty of snow everywhere). Most of the trail was covered in slippery snow and it was hard to see where to go at times. We always do our research before hiking and make sure we are wearing good hiking boots and are dressed up in layers but we have seen lots of people wearing sneakers and regretting it. There were spots close to the tea house where your feet keep falling through the snow up to your knees because it’s melting underneath so watch out if you hike in early summer! The tea house itself was ok, good service, high prices, not great quality food and hot chocolate most likely made with water but it’s all about the location. Exactly what we expected. Make sure to bring a bag for the garbage as they make you take the wrappers and cups from the items you purchased with you. The seating upstairs was closed I think due to pandemic but I imagine it has a great view. Can’t wait for the world to go back to normal so we can check out this place and sit upstairs!

Marlana

It’s a nice hike with a rewarding destination. Expensive food and drink but considering the spot and how they get supplies in, it’s understandable.

Dan Z

Fun little tea house. The hike there took 4 hours round trip, but it felt like much longer. Wear proper clothes so you don’t get soaked on you way up like we did!

Bonjour!! That was amazing place. We luckily found the parking spot near to Fairmont Hotel around 2:30 ish pm (yay). We saw green trees, other side of lake louise, just melted snow river, lots of friendly squirrels & people, rock climbing, some wild fishes in the fresh water river, horse riding & some horse poop. It took us solid 2.5 hours to get to the tea house. The place is at elevation of 6800 ft so we felt like i accomplished something when i got there. I was amazed that some of the people working there hikes everyday(wow). We arrived at the last minute but the server was very positive. We requested her to take some pics and she took some great pics i must say. Overall experience was great i recommend it. Merci Lake Louise & Tea House!!

Ipryl Buiza

Absolutely wonderful experience! After a long hike the warm tea and biscuits was quite a treat. The servers were all very kind and the tea was amazing. A must visit in the Lake Louise area if you're up for the hike!

Majestic hike back into Lake Louise and you wind up at this wonderful 1927 teahouse! Make sure you bring cash as it says, in very small print, they put a $6 charge on all credit cards since they can't process it there without electricity. The chili was marvelous!

The Plain of Six Glaciers is my favourite hike in Banff. This approx. 11 km hike climbs high into the mountains through forests, a rocky avalanche path and along the ledge of a cliff and has some of the most beautiful views of glaciers, mountains, valleys and Lake Louise and eventually leads to a charming and rustic teahouse with delicious home-cooked food and beverages. The trail began from the shoreline of Lake Louise in front of the Fairmont Chateau Hotel along the paved and flat Lakeshore Trail which followed alongside this beautiful turquoise glacial lake for the first 2 km, then crossed a wooden boardwalk over a portion of the lake and ascended into the mountains. The well-graded trail entered into a beautiful and peaceful forest. The path continued on a moderate incline for the remainder of the way as it gained a total of 365 metres of elevation with some steeper and more challenging switchbacks in the last section of the trail leading to the teahouse. It wasn’t too gruelling but it wasn’t simple either and there were some areas where the trail levelled out to give your legs a rest too. The hike was moderately challenging but I took my time and stopped for frequent breaks along the way. The forest opened up to a wide open area with stunning landscapes and incredible views of the surrounding mountains and valleys, the Victoria Glacier, a large rocky avalanche path, and Lake Louise in the distance behind you. It continued through this landscape for most of the hike and then followed along a narrow rocky ledge on the side of a cliff before switchbacking up to the teahouse. The scenery on this hike was breathtaking, impressive and just so beautiful with plenty of wonderful photo opportunities. The final section of the hike was a series of steeper switchbacks up the mountain leading to the Plain of Six Glaciers Tea House. The views of the Victoria Glacier were stunning! The teahouse was a rustic and adorable two-storey log building with balconies all around it on both levels for seating. It was quite busy when I arrived there but managed to find a seat. I ordered the hand-ground hummus and salsa with tortilla chips and a hot chocolate and everything tasted incredible. The views from the teahouse were spectacular and it was so quiet and serene. There were outhouse washrooms here as well. From the teahouse, there is the option to continue hiking an additional 1.6 km to a closer viewpoint overlooking the six glaciers, however I was exhausted at this point and didn’t end up doing it, although I am sure it would have been amazing. If you’re lucky you may hear the rumbling of an avalanche in the distance here as well (I heard one last year but not this summer). The trek down the mountain was such a welcome reward for my sore legs and the scenery was just as amazing coming down. I completed the entire 10.6 km round-trip hike in roughly 4 hours, including my stop at the teahouse. Make sure to dress in layers and bring some warmer clothing on this hike, as the temperatures get quite a bit cooler as you gain elevation. Bring plenty of water and snacks and cash if you plan to eat or drink at the teahouse. Also be aware that this hike is mostly uphill on a moderate incline the entire way, with a steeper section shortly before reaching the teahouse. The air gets a lot thinner as you get higher in the mountains making it more difficult to catch your breath, so go slow and take breaks if you’re feeling exhausted. I found that my hiking poles really helped with the elevation and they took some of the pressure off my legs. This trail can get quite crowded during the day, so I suggest starting early in the morning in order to beat the crowds and secure yourself a good parking spot at Lake Louise. The Plain of Six Glaciers is an incredible half-day hike from Lake Louise in Banff and I would highly recommend adding this one to your itinerary. This hike has some of the most amazing views and landscapes that I have experienced in the Rockies.

A Sh

It is a nice place to see, but the real worth is the hike to go there! The view is beautiful all along the hike, and for beginners like me, you feel really great when you get to this beautiful small tea house!

Abilene Muraro

Beautiful little tea house with great volunteers and fantastic food. I would absolutely recommend to anyone. Bring some good shoes and layer up your clothing. Pack out your own garbage. Arrive EARLY for prime parking spots. Bring cash for the tea house. Its $4 if you want to use mastercard or visa-no debit or Amex.

Awesome hike in the snow today.. Seemed like it was open but hiked for 6km to find that the paths were not accessible all the way. It's February so seems to make sense that it is closed but there was absolutely nothing mentioned about it at the start of the hike at lake Louise. Just wanted to get that out there!

Ben MacDonald

Delicious cakes.

Aaron G

Amazing location on a very long hike, which gives spectacular views of Lake Louise. We found the teahouse closed, but it looks spectacular.

Justin Leidelmeyer

Well worth the hike.

Thomas Womack

I was expecting muffins in plastic wrap and ended up with a delicious home cooked meal instead. It's a bit pricey (you sholud definitely bring cash, they charge a fee for credit cards), but everything is either carried in or bought in by helicopter. Staff were very laid back and friendly. Definitely worth stopping if you have the time.

Henry Bergen

Fabulous views that are worth the effort to get there.

Ryan Dollar

Nice soup on the top of the mountain

Andre Steyn

This place is quite the hike to get to. But the hike is wonderful and when you arrive you will feel a sense of accomplishment. The prices here are mostly fair (REMEMBER TO BRING CASH TO PAY) and the staff is friendly. Tea was great but it is in baggies and you can also experience it at home by getting it from Banff Tea Co. I also had the chocolate cake. It was fine but nothing special. You will be asked to take the garbage down the mountain so make sure your backpack has some space.

p dc

Staff was super friendly, it was a really fun experience to get some hot food after a hike up to the tea house.

Djef Brak

I preferred the lake agnes tea house over this one. They have very little sitting space and were hesitant to serve anyone outside of the seating they have. It did look like they were trying to put together some more tables though so this might change. They were out of quite a few different things when I was there but they still had a decent selection. I get they are further out than the lake agnes tea house but it was still pretty early in the day to be out of like half their black teas. The selection of tea isn't as good either but they did have some things that lake agnes did not. All in all it was worth the hike but not specifically to visit the tea house.

Janiene Pitt

Great food but kind of far

N J

Great hike, great breakfast location. I think the hike took us just about an hour an a half. Our plan was to have a small bite to eat at this teahouse and it was perfect after the hike up to the glacier viewpoint. The tea bread is baked fresh every day. You can smell the teahouse as you near the end of the hike it's a really fun vibe. We just had the bread and jam but the butter and honey they provide is really what you want. There are other breakfast options available the soup smelled delicious but we did not order it. The views are incredible. It's a fun stop if you are in lake Louise for the day. Start your hike and day early.

Masaharu

Great little spot after the hike up there! The food was great and the staff very friendly. It's definitely worth the hike!

Alan Bailey

Extremely expensive for bland and partly stale food. They only take cash or credit so be mindful of that as well.

Waleed

The hike to this was amazing from the lake Agnes trail. The soup and tea was worth it. Reasonably priced

Ross Kriel

Great location. Pricey for what is on offer.

Anne Wussow

The hike is beautiful and totally worth it. They tell you it’s between 2-2.5 hours to get there but what they don’t tell you is how rocky, icy, and snowy it could still be at this time of the year! We started the hike at 6:30am and we only saw 3 other people on the trail - however it was much busier on our way down. Start early if you want to avoid crowds!

Susan Young-Smith

You really want to be there if you are planning to hike around Lake Louise. The view is so rewarding once reach the tea house. We were continuing to hike up to Plain of Six Glacier. There will be a good pit stop for you.

Abid Hasan

Great meals after long and strenuous walk

Polina Abramov

Brenda Shwedyk

Beautiful but glaciers are nearly gone. Super crazy crowded! Some hikers oblivious to hiking or back country etiquette.

Where else can you go on an alpine hike and not bring your own lunch?...nowhere that I know of. The soup, homemade bread and apple cake were amazing and a great group of people running it.

JingYi Chen

Great spot to rest before hiking to the lookout point.

Josh Whelan

The service and the views were worth the hike. We had the PB&J sandwich with tea, and after the long walk up it was like a five star meal. They only take cash so stop by the ATM before starting up the trail.

Charming spot for a meal after a not-too-long-or-difficult hike up Plain of Six Glaciers from Lake Louise. Food is simple, it's cash only, and the views-- if you get there before the crowd-- from the second floor are very lovely.

Richard Henke

As someone with food sensitivities, I packed my own lunch in case the tea house couldn’t accommodate. The tea house’s menu is dependent on the food they helicopter in. They were short a couple items that were on my ‘safe’ list, but I was able to enjoy their veggie lentil soup (was warned it may have dairy in it, but I took the risk). I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about soup on a 27C day, but it was SO good! ...I felt the water was a bit overpriced—even for helicoptered-in water--and the place itself was super crowded for lunch, even at 2pm. They should look to add on maybe a lower balcony? Unless they serve down to the picnic tables, which we didn’t notice. There is a nice place to relax beside the tea house where you can put your feet in the creek or chill on the stone steps. The staff were all very friendly and seem to really enjoy working there as a summer job, which indicates that they must be treated well. Hoping to sort out my sensitivities enough to enjoy their desserts the next time ‘round!
