Great doctor! Friendly and very professional! Waiting room time was 10 minutes. Staff was courteous and efficient. I highly recommend Dr. Okonkwo if you are in need of a psychiatrist.

Dr. OKONKWO. Is a caring and wonderful doctor. I can tell he truly cares about my wellness and he is very calm and understanding. I have severe PTSD and he helps me cope with my condition. I feel cared for under his supervision. I could not ask for a better doctor.

Pamela Audrey

Dr. O saved my life! I think he’s a wonderful human.

One of the worst psychiatrists and offices I've ever been to. Terrible communication, no follow ups, and the secretary is completely useless. Save your time and find another office.

Conrad Wilde

The Devitt Union of Waterloo

Arrogant, rude, sexist...a terrible experience taking my son both times.

Dr. Okonkwo was helpful in letting me try some different medications to help me find the right dosage for the issues I have been having. I found him to be very nice, friendly and easy to talk to. He was able to confirm the diagnosis that I went to him for after getting the information he requested.

One of the nicest doctors I've ever met. Very attentive, and concerned about me more than my own family physician. Always very friendly and personable and listens better than any therapist I've ever seen before.

PATIENT FOR 3 YEARS - DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME/MENTAL HEALTH. You are truly just another number to this guy. After 3 full years seeing him once a month he still could not remember or let alone say my first name. Dr. O doesn't care why/how you're feeling, he just adjusts/feeds you more medication and kicks you out after 10 minutes MAX. From the start he has been very impersonal and cold/bland, he has never asked about my past or current life. Don't even get me started on how incompetent the young receptionist with long dark hair is either. They will never pick up your phone calls during "open" hours so unless you make a follow up appointment right after, you won't get one for weeks/months. There are so many other professionals that actually care about your mental well being, don't be brushed off/belittled and continue to get worse like I did because of this terrible doctor. Find much better help elsewhere!!

Pleasant and helpful receptionist. I have been seeing Dr Okonkwo for over two years and he has helped my mental health tremendously. It is always a pleasure to visit my Dr.

Sarah Mansour

Dr. Okonkwo was direct and to the point. I didn’t feel judged at all by him and trusted his opinions and diagnosis. I found his staff to be very accommodating of my questions and requests.

Dr. O. is a knowledgeble psychiatrist with an absolutely wonderful personality! One of the best patient experiences I have ever had! My appointments are on time and always productive... He is well prepared when I meet him too. I highly recommend him!

What a great experience! Dr. Okonkwo asked more questions about my daughter in our first appointment than all the others we've been to so far! Kind, caring and gentle!

My boyfriend has been seeing this dr. for almost 3 yrs. We are now looking into a different one. You can never get through on the phone, voice mail is always full and when you can actually leave a message they dont return it. When it comes to prescription refills its hard getting one as even when you finally get through to the office they tell you to have the drug store fax over the request for a refill, and they still dont answer that!! He hasnt seen the dr for almost a yr now and when he does see the dr he does nothing but sit there barely says anything then writes a prescription and sends him on his way. Totally useless Dr. and office staff!

Dr. Okonkwo helped me up out of the depths of depression and anxiety HELL and I only wish I had been able to work with him 20 years earlier in my life. I would recommend him to anyone struggling with mental health issues. 5++++ stars.

Detached bordering on rude. Looked at his paper only and wrote copious notes after asking questions you can get online. He didn't listen to me and asked the same question several times. He asked for my family physician to prescribe meds when he's supposed to be qualified to do that. This was a bad experience.

he didnot tell me he is doctor. he doesnt help people directly. He treated like sick person, what I mean is if he adresses that he is doctor and could as me my problm it wll b better.

Worst experience that I've ever had with a doctor . from the very first time I met him it was obvious that he was judging my character based upon my appearance. Obvious enough that even my girlfriend noticed and said something to me about it afterwards. Today I went in for a regular appointment to get my prescriptions refilled. I asked him for a drug that specifically treats anxiety (SAD is one of the disorders that I suffer from) after previous medications he suggested weren't working. He then seemingly became offended saying that I was telling him how to do his job and went on to tell me that if I wanted that drug to go "find it on the streets". I was in shock saying to him " how could a psychiatrist tell his patient to buy drugs on the streets ?". At that moment it was clear that we were both done with eachother. Then as a way to say "f*** you" (I think) , he told me that he would not be renewing any of my scripts and that I was being discharged and to leave. Someone who truely cares about the mental health of their patients would not let them go without medication when they have all the power to give it to them.

Horrible bedside mannor. Made me look like a drug addict to my pharmacy by telling them i am not supposed to take a certian medication over the weekends which is a complete lie and he never once mentioned anything like that to me. Make its impossible to get refills in a timely manner and just overall makes you feel worse.

Lorna Johnson

I find Dr. Okonkwo and his staff very supportive and kind hearted. Dr. Okonkwo takes the time not just to find out how you as an individual is doing but also your family, which is important because they are your biggest supporters.

I dont agree with any negative comments regarding this doctorthis doctor as my experience was very pleasant. I just moved in to Kitchener 7 months ago and struggled with sleep and anxiety essentially since I was 13. He provided me with resources to get a support system going in my new town (as Im a big advocate for making sure my mental health is taken care of - which means that i need to be willing to accept all care given, where it be counseling, cognitive therapy and medication.) Altough, i was a tad nervous he may have changed my medication - he thought he felt it was doing its job and I'm only going through changes where anybodys stress level would peak. He didnt deem it necassary to try different meds and i am in total agreement with all of his recommendations. This man listened to all of my history and was quite refreshing to speak with. I definitely reccomend seeing him and could not have had a more positive experience!

Dr O. was a God-send for me. After a major mental event I was admitted to Grand River Hospital and he saw me every day, including weekends. He reviewed my case with me and made certain I understood. I might not be here if not for him.

Completely unprofessional, they never answer the phone, voice mail is always full and if you do manage to leave a message they dont call you back. This place is a joke, i wouldnt be surprised if people had episodes or breakdowns because they couldnt get through to get there perscription filled. ANSWER YOUR PATIENTS!!!

Jennifer Nikolic

No one ever answers phones, reception never follow ups, they do not care about your mental health. Ignored pharmacy requests 3x with no phone call to tell me?! If you need consistent access to prescriptions find another doctor.

Crystal Grandmond

This man was a God send to me. I have 8 different psychiatrists. I kept telling all the others that there is something wrong and that they aren't getting it right. For several years I was a guinea pig. I had another episode and went to the psycheward emergency. I screamed and yelled at Dr. O as I take a million pills that did nothing for the issue I was having. He listened, and told me I was missed diagnosed several times and set me up with a medication that changed me. It made me feel like a normal human being again. I like that he has a sense of humor.
