The staff at this hotel is incredibly unprofessional. I have asked several times to speak with a manager to resolve an issue and they have been giving me the run around, probably in anticipation of knowing the nature of the concerns that I have- one time when I asked, the general manager was sitting in another room within ear shot. She knew that I had requested to speak with her right away, and avoided talking to me completely. I stated the matter that needed to be addressed was urgent, left both my phone number and e-mail address, and have not received a call now after 5 days.
I have been staying at the hotel for the last month, and so far: my refrigerator broke down and had to be replaced, the electricity went out, my heater had stopped working in 3 degree weather- they refused to give me a new room when this happened until I called head office, they then offered me a portable heater.
If you are looking for privacy and confidentiality. Please do not go here. The company I work for has a corporate account with this hotel. One of their staff (who happens to be friends with someone at the facility I work for) had gone out of their way to discuss my private comings and goings, and had spread rumors about their perception of what they believe may or may not have been happening WITH MY COLLEAGUE in and out of my room. All allegations of which are completely false. I am a professional who believes that my business should be my business- despite Kirkland Lake being a small town, I should be entitled to my privacy and should not have to feel judged by the workers of this hotel, nor should I have to feel like my integrity is being compromised along with my image at work. I have spoken with the administrator at my facility, and if I have to, will escalate this to our head office. I am completely in shock and in dismay that this has happened. Have some respect for the people who are staying here. I come and go, mind my own business, treat everyone with respect, and deserve the same.
