Had to go there as I had hard time breathing at 4:00 AM and I was taken care of right away. All staff were great & Dr Ranbir Verraich was very professional & his knowledge was great. Thanks for being there.
Hello. I recently was admitted on March 20th for an Ovarian Cyst. I swear to God, this was the WORST care I have EVER had in my lifetime. I was sent for an x-ray after waiting 4 hours in the Emergency Room with the worst pain imaginable. I had went on on December 27th as well, and got an amazing Nurse, she took great care of her patients and kept my family updated. Honestly, the next day, they do a 1 and a half hour Ultrasound, and they say it was a cyst, but then they do bloodwork, then send me home.. Tell me to take Advil, and come back if the pain lasts another 3 days. Almost has been a month and I am still horribly in pain from eating, so I would really advise if your child/family member/elderly go to this hospital, be prepared to be discharged with NO explanation of what is going on, expect to wait 5 hours, expect to have a doctor who will literally stand and talk to the Nurses for hours when you are in the WORST pain ever. Thanks for the horrible service. I rather drive 3 hours down to SickKids. Get some doctors who REALLY care about their patients. I have better care from WebMD then I did here. I am never coming back to this facility until you all learn how to get doctor's who are able to treat extremely ill people.
Released me while incoherent during a Grandmal Seizure. Had another one within 5 mins after leaving. I have no memory of any of it.
Loved my stay, nurse Karen was so friendly and you could really tell she cared about me! The night nurses we're really nice, the day nurses forgot to hookup my IV for at least 30 mins, but overall lovely hospital! - Reid
Great staff. Excellent nursing care. We are lucky to have access to MRI and Catscans and a wide variety of testing services here.
The Ross emergency dept is a joke. My son sat in emergency for 12 hours with a broken arm then they sent us home ( with no cast) then called us back the next morning (because they forgot to cast him) then I get a call a week later telling me he needs surgery to repair a compound fracture they missed. I had a (thankfully) minor stroke and they were to refer me to a specialist. They forgot again and two years to the day I had my stroke I finally got a referral. My husband went in with chest pain and again they were going to refer him to a specialist he Never got a referral why you ask they "lost" the requisition. This hospital should be investigated. I would rather go to one of our local veterinary clinics at least I would get a free milkbone and a pat on the head!
you are taking your chances at this joint. Better off to go to Port
My Dad who was healthy his whole life went to Lindsay Hospital twice sick with his legs feeling funny, and he was getting sicker, Lindsay Hospital sent him home with antibiotics and said he was sick. Not too long after, another hospital found a large tumour in his lungs, he ended up passing away just over a year later, but if it had been caught earlier the outcome would have been different. This hospital should be closed down!!!

Unfortunately my Mother chose to spend her dying weeks at this hell hole. The staff were rude and unprofessional. I was sleeping at my mothers bedside the night she passed while she struggled to breathe I overheard one of the nurses mocking her. When I spoke out about the incident they denied it and called the police to kick me out of the hospital as I was upset. That night my mother passed away and they refused to let me visit her and say goodbye the next day. This place is such a horrible hospital and I can’t describe how much I hate it there due to unprofessional staff and management. ????????⛔️ Avoid this place and don’t let your loved ones die here without their dignity. Please don’t tell me to reach out as I already have and nobody was reprimanded or investigated for the incident that occurred.
This is a terrible ER unit in any of the hospitals of Ontario. I took my neighbour in to the RMH for a mental health scare. My neighbour has complex mental health wellness issues, yet is generally high functioning and holds down a job. The ER doctor recommended my neighbour have "a few beers" when I returned him home. My neighbour had a few beers when he returned home that afternoon. Two hours later I took my neighbour to Oshawa General Hospital where they claimed he was in a coma. He was three and 1/2 months recovering and has yet to return to work, let alone leave the house. What kind of IDIOT prescribes alcohol with mood stabilizers! Run from this hospital!
Wonderfully attentive staff, nurse is a fellow rider and was deeply supportive during everything.
I brought my son into Lindsay Hospital for a ear infection the other day. It took a lot longer then I thought and then I remembered that we are still in a pandemic. We just wanted to say Thank you to everyone that works/volunteers at your Hospital. Thank you for all you do in the service of others. ????
Shouldn’t feel like I’m a inconvenience at 28 weeks pregnant! Staff was questioning why I was at this hospital instead of a different hospital, making me feel horrible. They were very dismissive. I ended up leaving with no answers and will be going elsewhere. I’d rather give birth in my car than this place!
No service...not just slow but nonexistant. 5hrs and only saw doctor once
My mother has been in and out of this hospital many times over the last five years and I have experienced nothing but compassion and excellent care. Unfortunately, when folks are sick they expect to be taken care of immediately regardless of circumstance or medical priority. It's unfortunate to hear that people have had to wait a handful of hours in an emergency room but guess what! That's every hospital! not just RMH. But hell, I guess they should just let critical care patients tough it out in order to tend to folks that hate waiting in the ER with their restless kids. Just because a triage nurse isn't busy, doesn't mean the actual doctors aren't!
Worst service I have gotten anywhere at the covid testing center. I went in 2 months ago with a sore throat and high fever, got tested for strep and covid with my strep test coming back positive. The doctor called me to tell me she would send a prescription for antibiotics to the pharmacy for me and would be ready later that day. I had my girlfriend go pick it up and the pharmacy had never received any prescription. I then spent a day trying to get in contact with the doctor in the testing center so they could resend it, left multiple messages and was told I would get a call back and never did. Ended up giving up and fighting the strep off on my own. Not only that but they also input my information wrong into the covid results online page, so it took 6 days to get my negative results from patient release of information and I struggled to get paper proof that I was negative. Fast forward to this week my strep came back (naturally) and when I went back to the testing center to do the covid and strep swab, the doctor prescribed me amoxicillin for the strep before getting the results of the test. I was told I would "for sure receive a call later today" with my results of the strep test so I know whether to take the antibiotics or not. Of course, they never contacted me and it is virtually impossible to get a hold of them other than leaving a message which takes up to a day to get a response. They're extremely unprofessional and unorganized. This place is an absolute joke.
It's a Monday night. Walked in. Wait time to be seen by a doctor: 3-4 hours. Walked out. The receptionist was horribly rude and catty.
I go here every 2 weeks for my Covid-19 test for work, and I will say that the process from the time you sign in to the time you leave us very quick. The healthcare workers here are wonderful, friendly, professional, and do a great job.
The nurse at registration in the emergency department was not being friendly. Her attitude towards both my kids and myself was not very nice. She grabbed my daughter's arm to put her on the scale while my daughter was about to get on it. All I can think is she was taking her stress out on us. We got there at a bad time clearly. But still not an excuse. (We were originally there for my son but I thought my daughter needed to be checked too at first so she was also weighed.) Later a couple of other kids come into emerg, she sees them and talks to them so much nicer. Total change in attitude.
Doctors seem to care but the wait times are ATROCIOUS. On par with Lakeridge Health Oshawa which is THE worst hospital. Take the time to drive elsewhere.
Had total knee replacement and went 100%. Im walking better than ever..Thank you Doctor Conlin and all the nursing staff..
Absolutely horrible care. Waited 5 hours in emerge, during which time only 1 person was called. We were then told it would be another 6-7 hours. Went to another hospital after and was seen immediately! During those 5 hours NO CLEANING WAS DONE. Multiple people sitting in seats that were not getting sanitized. No touch points cleaned. Avoid at all costs.
Very dissatisfied how they handle and deal with drug addiction. Especially dependent once.
The staff were extremely helpful. Dr. Jessica Robinson was the nicest doctor I've ever had the pleasure of being treated by. She was very professional and extremely friendly. She really explained things well . I highly recommend the emergency department at this hospital.
I have never had any issues with the hospital I totally get that ppl r called in by priority and that they have ambulances and other things that occur at different times
I know a young girl who went to this hospitals emergency room last week begging for help and to be put on suicide watch, she went in there because she couldn't trust her life in her own hands. And they turned her away because she hadnt been able to update her address to show she had moved into that area. Because you know covid and addictions are a terrible combo if you're someone who suffers from addiction but has to wait to be able to do anything, nothing ends up happening until its too late. Its a sad reality. Even without Covid. Luckily she had other supportive people who are keeping her safe, and trying to get her into a program someplace else. I understand that it's Covid right now, but if someone comes in begging for help- how can you turn them away if you're not at capacity, if you still have beds available? I wish I could give negative stars. Ive been to that hospital both for myself, and for other family members and friends. I have never had a positive experience. If you're ever hurt in the Lindsay, Ontario area, risk the drive and go to Newmarket or Peterborough or Durham area for treatment. Avoid Ross Memorial, they won't help you anyways.
Clean and updated, but the staff still aren't the best. Extremely long waits.
Waited 6 hours and then left my grandmother and she was having breathing problems went to another hospital and was seen in 2 hours
Unfortunately my employer sent me for a covid TEST during the plandemic. It was fast and the nurses were organized and friendly. No issues.
I came in this morning with lower right abdomen pain. I have never recieved such incredible service from any hospital that I have been to. The staff were on the ball and very caring. Thank you to all who took care of me. May God bless you all.
Everytime I go here I get horrible service are there no doctors that love their jobs? Everybody is miserable.
I have a friend in getting better, staff is 50/50! The cafeteria needs to update their food and start making real food for patients like other hospitals do! Add more flavor to the food!
I can only say that I am very very satisfied with all the services of this Hospital. I have brought elderly parents to and have been in myself and have been attended to and diagnosed to my satisfaction. The system is slow as it is everywhere but the triage is effective. I always leave the hospital and never truly thank the people that are there to help me. He Thank you all for performing in a carreer that many people couldn't.
the chicken nuggets were burnt and the banana bread was undercooked. the ice cream station only had 2 flavours coal and cow milk.
Hubby died in hospital after 7 weeks. He was shuffled around in 4 different rooms. I got a bill for just under 10k but insurance paid 5k. I didn't know we were now part of the USA. Apparently because of Covid they don't need your signature to charge your insurance companies and say you verbally consented when you earn well know you did not!
Sat in emergency for 3hrs and didn’t even get seen! Worst hospital ever!
The nurses are WONDERFUL
I have been here many times in the ER and the one thing I hate is the WAIT TIME! It takes for freaking ever. I had to wait 4 hours for my lip, witch was as big as a grape at the time. And the staff here are really nice so I have to give them that.
Wonderful couldn't be more pleased.and impressed. Right from my 7 am admitting thru surgery to recovery to the special care I recieved on the 4th floor. THANK YOU ALL I felt so special I thought you might have me confused with someone important with a similar name. My sons and partners are grateful .Our hats are off to you Angels that is what you are . Sincerely Henk Vandervinne
Not so good only 4 or 5 people are here and waiting hours and hours waiting thinking about to just give up unbelievable service soo poor like crazy
Other than the insane wait time in the ER Dr. Badden was very kind and took the time to answer my questions and direct care. The nursing was kind and caring and made my feeling unwell experience easier on me. Thank you ????
If I can give 0 I will! Waited for the whole night and get no help.
Absolutely wonderful experience today considering.... An emergency room visit, was quick, efficient and made to feel comfortable from all staff!!!!! The "bandana guy" / vampire was so fantastic when he drew blood. Thanks for the great service ????
Its an ok hospital. Just wish the ER wait time was quicker.
I just want to say that this is a very junk hospital.
If you want an incompetent team to brush you off and ignore your problems, head on down to Ross memorial. My girlfriend severely injured her knee ligaments, ACL, PCL, area. For some reason, the doctors here decided not to do an MRI, but rather an X-ray. X-ray looks at bones, not ligaments. Made an appointment with the fracture clinic where Dr. Noronha did absolutely nothing to diagnose her problem. He did do a physical exam, but the incorrect exam for this kind of injury. I’m sorry but if an appointment is being made for an injury, nobody should just be brushed off and told nothings wrong without problem diagnoses tools. If you have nothing better to do than waste your valuable time, go to this hospital. Otherwise avoid it at all costs. Such a shame how inadequate this healthcare system is.
i died there
So I broke my foot and was rushed to the hospital and had to wait for 15 hours in a waiting room IT WAS HORRIBLE I wanted to die then when I got my ex ray the doctor was very rude calling me fat and making me crawl to my wheelchair
Waited over an hour to get help with one other person in the waiting room. Estimated wait is 15 min apparently. Staff are more concerned about their pizza party we can hear from the waiting room them actually helping. Still have yet to see the other patient get any help. They have been standing infront the nurses station for over 30 min. By far the worst care ever in any medical institute I've ever been in. (If you have mental health issues please avoid this hospital please try and go to Peterborough or somewhere better. Anywhere is better then here.) Edit. Waited from 945pm till 1am for a crisis nurse that left the hospital at 11 pm would give 0 stars if I could
I am new to the Kawarthas. I have no family doctor and little chance of getting one anytime soon. I went to Ross because of the sudden appearance of headaches (sharp knife-like pains) that had at that point lasted for four days straight. I was made to feel from the triage to the doctor that I was wasting their time with what they considered a trivial issue or even worse that I was faking it looking for drugs. I didn't want their drugs just to know the cause and maybe some useful advice on what to do if the headaches don't go away. I can't keep taking Tylenol forever hoping I don't die of an aneurism or tumour or something else. I was told to do the impossible and get a family doctor. How am I supposed to do that when no one is taking new patients? By-the-way I am a senior citizen.
Grandma died
DO NOT and I repeat go to this hospital if you are really looking for someone to care for you. There is no common sense from the receptionist to the intake admins to the emerg staff. I am curious and wonder if these people really think that they are above everyone else. They sure seem to think so. I would not take my worse enemy to this place it really is romper room!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The place should be shut down. -5 star rating.
I had an accident (severe cut to my finger) at my cottage (Fenelon Falls) last weekend Saturday and searched for a hospital close by... Ross Memorial being the closest. It was around 4pm when I had the accident. I searched the ER wait time for Ross Memorial and it showed their target is under 4 hrs and actuality of 5-6 hrs average. Based on the data, I figured I will be there at least 5 hours as my injury will be deemed to be non-life threatening. Upon my arrival, I was Triaged almost immediately and went through registration in the process. That Triage/Registration completed within 20 minutes. I waited in the waiting room with another 6 patients. While waiting, a nurse came and attended to my wound and offered Tylenol for my pain. This was quite a surprised ... but I was rather pleased with the support. My wait time was about 1.5 hours before they called me in to the examination room. While waiting in the exam room, I observed the number of doctors servicing and supporting ER department ... I saw about 3 around the exam room ... which in my opinion are too few. I had to wait over an hour in the exam room before a doctor saw me. She treated my wound with 5 stitches. I estimated my time from admittance to release was under 4 hours. Overall, I am quite pleased with the treatment and professionalism of the staff at the hospital. It is a regional hospital and I can understand the limitation to the staffing at the hospital ... that plus the cuts to provincial health care budget. I would recommend if the Ross Memorial hospital look into the online wait time monitor many provincial hospitals use ... such as Markham Stouffville Hospital uses.
Great hospital but I hope you never need this
Read you are making vaccination mandatory for visiting. You run a heartless hospital. We all know vaccinated or NOT you can get and transmit covid. You are doing a disservice to the community, not helping it.
Wait times are ridiculous people suffering and in pain. The appalling lack of knowledge and education with addiction crisis and medical needs is astounding considering the ongoing opioid crisis and the number of OD's there have been no added services for this and the stigma amongst staff makes it even worse. The mental health unit still doesn't understand the relationship between addiction and mental health. Major education and added treatment areas with dedicsted addiction specialists (RAAM) is desperately needed!!
What a wonderful first time experience. The nurses were lovely and the doctor Dr. DEFOE was amazing and truly concerned. Even security person Lana supportive.
Long waits, short examinations, doctors who aren’t thorough and leave risk up to home monitoring.
Just want to say before I get into the negative review that Dr.Defoe in emerge was amazing and so were the nurses there. The person that I brought in specifically went in there for mental health help. It turns out they also needed medical help which they received. Dr.Defoe told them in emerge that if they felt unsafe they didn't have to leave after receiving their medical treatment and that afterwards they would be able to talk to someone from psych. They then get transferred to ICU because they were in bad condition physically. Up in ICU the team told them they wouldn't be able to talk to anyone even if they were having self harming thoughts and they were going to be released regardless even though they begged to talk to someone due to negative self harming thoughts. The person I brought in specifically didn't want to go home due to delusions they were having that happened at night. This was told to the ICU and they were adamant that once they were medically cleared they were being released and would be able to go back to the hospital tomorrow. I'm just extremely disappointed in the doctors thought process behind releasing this patient when they were told they would be able to speak to someone in psych if they felt unsafe to leave. If something happened to this patient after release would they take any responsibility after they begged them not to release them? They told me if they are feeling that bad then they should just go back to emerge. Like yeah we did go there to get mental health help for them in the first place, and were told that after they figured out any physical problems they would then deal with the mental health problems without them having to leave. Just so disappointed in the way the ICU team treats people with mental health problems and the way they refuse to listen to patients.
I went to emergency around 9:30 December 25 2020 and when the nurses taking your info called me up I was treated like I was bothering them by coming it. I was sent to the waiting room to wait after I put my clip board back there to see only 2 people back there. I waited till 11:30. Till I was called back. Then another hour to been seen back there. I have and ear infection was given a prescription but nothing to make it thru the night. I realize that COVID is going on I am a front line worker as well. But felt like I was bothering everyone who worked last night at Ross. I was told not to take my mask off meanwhile security guard was. I just fine every time I’ve gone to the Ross I hit gossip time with all the nurses. And staff
Well alot sick people- they work so hard- My Moms in this hosp- and I've spoken with the operator Samatha great - regarding a tv issues- the people Who have the contacts were a joke and they joked on my response-I was right- it's pretty bad all should hav tv
Seriously disgraceful. Waited over 5 hours in Emergency -not that busy. Then 2 more hours waiting in room for doctor. Nurses and staff eating and discussing their vacations while we waited to get help with daughters first time pregnant miscarriage. She is also Type 1 diabetic. No one checked her blood sugar nor offered to get her any food. Doctor had to go ask someone else for information. ABSOLUTELY NO PROFESSIONALSIM. Total disregard for patients.
My Mom is a patient there with pneumonia she also has COPD they are doing everything they can to help her!
The staff is amazing and very comforting during my surgery
sent me home then i had to call 911 ,worst
Thank you to all the staff, but in particular, Sebastien, Courtney and Casey in Palitive care. (Sorry if I missed anyone) While my mother-in-law was in their care, they gave us comfort in their compassion and caring. Thank you again
Irresponsible
Professional and team powered…an ethically driven hospital ????????
Horrible wait times, never a nurse or doctor available. Dying in a gutter would make you feel better then getting treated here. Avoid this place at all costs. I thought a hospital couldn't be as bad as these reviews say it is... This one IS! Do Not Come Here .. Entire building should be shut down and staff made to find new profession's. Nurse don't care, doctors waste more time gossiping then the nurses... Four hours in my visit.. I've had someone listen to my heart ... Wow.. guess I needed to be told it was still beating... Complete trash...
I was visiting cottage country and unfortunately cut my index knuckle to the bone with a knife (multi-tool). I ended up at Ross Memorial Hospital as it was the closest hospital. I waited for 5 hours and although this may not seem all that long to some, there's signs all over the hospital asking people not to get upset and expect to wait 2.5 hrs (so I expected to be there for 2.5 hrs) NOT 5 hrs! By the time the doctor got to me the cut had already sealed itself closed and the doctor ended up putting crazy glue on the cut and a bandage. While waiting I noticed the hospital tried to 5S, a Lean term, but completely missed the point. Items that were placed in it's labeled designations didn't match. This hospital need major rework in it's processes. I could have gone to Scarborough Grace and back to Fenelon Falls faster...
Very Disappointed by the morning staff and overall hospital services. If there was a negative option I would totally choose that for place like this. Morning staff do not care at all about there patients and wait is more than 10 hours and they “only have couple of doctors who handle the whole department” said by one the nurse and they have no idea how long the patients have to wait. Definitely not recommended because they don’t care. Nurses responds like they don’t know anything. No professionalism at all.
Was rushed to this hospital at 1600 hrs, for heart failure. Within 15 min blood was drawn an hour later chest x rays. At 5 hrs still Dr never looked at my chart, x-rays or bloodwork.. nurse said shift change at 2300 hrs (11pm), possibly dr., will look at my chart at midnight. I kept asking nurse to see dr. And what my bloodwork/x rays revealed. .always an excuse... oh the dr. Is busy. At 11pm the nurse offered me a against dr. Advie form so i can leave. Without receiving any info from bloodwork or x rays.. 1145pm still no dr. Recommendation don't go to this hospital. If your going to die may as well die at home. This hospital should be shut down.
I was referred to the ER at RMH with a letter written by the doctor at the Good Doctors walk in clinic when I was diagnosed with a 102 fever and severe headache (9/10 on pain scale) no appetite and unable to sleep for 4 days. I received Excellent care by the ER doctor. She tested me for septicimia, meningitis, enchaphalitis, performing a head CT and lumbar puncture. Everything came up negative but she refused to give up on me. She ordered a chest xray and turned out to be the worse case of walking pneumonia she had ever seen. The ER Doctor was very thorough.
Took my son who has severe epilepsy in yesterday. All staff were fantastic. They took exceptional care of my son.
Absolutely horribly run hospital that is 40 years behind. Nurses seem to play favorites and have been seen bullying other nurses. Management does not protect new nurses nor promote change. They seem quite content operating improperly. I had to give 1 star rating as 0 was not an option. Shameful.
This place needs to hire real doctors and nurses that can actually do thier jobs 3 hour wait for 6 people If you live lindsay drive Scarborough and save yourselves, nothing more then a waste of time and complete useless building.
I have been getting a co-vid test weekly in order to get into the nursing homes to visit my father and uncle and I must say they have quite the system going on! You are in and out very quickly and the staff is exceptional! Very friendly and compassionate! Keep up the great work you guys, you all deserve a pat on the back!!!! Thanks for all you do!!!!
I love the hospital in Lindsay and I rate it at 5 star's I'm really happy with the way I was being treated by the staff at Ross memorial hospital
Most staff and professionals are dedicated to helping people. The remaining people appear to make things worse, in obvious ways. I wondered about the hospital ratings/reviews (2.5 ? That's bad), now I hear many reaare sons from people/staff about themselves having bad experiences there.
The ER is aweful... you have to wait so damn long to see a doctor. Come on staff get with the program at least have more than 1 doctor working!
This is the absolute worst hospital you could ever go. They tried to help my father die and all he had was a broken leg. His doctors signed a full DNR without telling anyone and placed it on his file. I had to fight to have it removed then the patient relations coordinator whispered in my father's ear and told him that he had other options. I then had to fight to have him transferred. I had to involved his lawyer and another doctor. I wouldn't recommend this place to someone dying either because they shouldn't tell you that you're going to die and they all told my father that he was going to die and they did it several times. Hopefully the College of Physicians and Surgeons will make this right.
Pretty much zero staff here. Service is always extra slow compared to any other hospital. I’m talking like 6-7 hours. Go anywhere else if you can.
Close this place down omg 7 hours for a simple visit lol if I did this in my industry I wouldn’t have a job
Needs better management
My father was sent via ambulance to the emergency department. I am nothing but impressed with the prompt testing and diagnosis he received. He was sent via Orange ambulance to receive an urgent surgery and arrangements were made to send him back after the procedure was done. Communication was excellent, detailed reports were given and all questions were answered. Thank you for making my fathers experience a positive one ????
After waiting for 5+ hrs in emerg i was treated as an inconvenience. The er doctor was an arrogant kid who seemed to be bothered by me being there. I cam in for a possible dvt and could hardly walk. I spoke with him for about 5min and had to go back the next day for an ultrasound as the dept was closed by the tume I saw a doctor. What a joke. So now 2 days wasted and my foot is turning black but no one seemed to care.
I came to Ross memorial when I had a horse riding accident and we were concerned I may have severely injured my back. They were all amazing and treated me with the best care. I have also landed there on several occations from other "Horse related" events and am always treated the best. It always seems as though the same doctor is working when I come in so he has even started joking with me to stay out of the horses way, they are bigger then me. I am actually from Peterborough but I will always drive to Lindsay instead of having to go to the PRHC.
5+ hours and counting with something stuck in my eye, incredibly painful. They say they are “waiting for the doctor” If the hospital doesn’t have doctors, they should remove the open sign or tell people so they can go to a good hospital instead.
Liars and un professional! Everything is a few mins while they leave my wife and new born child crying in a corner for 3 hrs. I wouldn't trust this place with my pet let alone a human.
Attended Ross Memorial for day surgery, from start (the moment I walked in the door) to finish (when I was assisted in leaving) I was treated with nothing but kindness and respect. Thank you.
I've literally been sitting here over 3 hours and still not a doctor has came to check my problem. Took me just over an hour to get sent from one room to the next. Why the hell am I going to continue to pay to park here or even go here when there such pathetic service. Like there's 4 people here. 1 is going around checking on people " I haven't been looked at once." Two younger ladies are laughing away doing nothing. I am absolutely pissed off. Ifor I were to grade this place. F-
I have been to Ross several times. I am from out of province, and visit for a few months every summer. I have received blood transfusions, iron infusions, 2 scopes, all via ER. I would recommend this facility to anyone. I realize when I go to Emerg that there will be folks sicker than me, so I make sure I am prepared, a book, puzzle. In my opinion the staff have always been professional, friendly and compassionate.
Worst experience of my life. No compassion, no professionalism.
This facility unfortunately lives up to its' reputation, starting with the admin staff. Chatting and socializing while the person in the chair registering is in obvious pain comes across, to the patient, as callous, insensitive and unprofessional, and is not something I've seen at any other hospital. There were 3 people total in the waiting room. In the two hours plus I waited before leaving not a single one of us was called in by a nurse or doctor. I don't think I even saw a nurse or doctor. One of the three of us had a violent cough and would frequently remove his mask to yell expletives. Zero security, zero cleaning staff despite watching him walk around the waiting area with no mask. Avoid this facility.
We have cottages in the area for decades and have been to Ross Memorial more than a few times. Unfortunately it is the only hospital in the area. Although the staff is friendly it is obviously short staffed from a emergency doctors perspective. We have come in a few times at the early hours of the morning to find that there is 1 person ahead of us and there is no doctor to be found cause a huge wait time that is completely unnecessary. If you have a sick kid or something that needs immediate attention you should probably go elsewhere. I have also read that this hospital has twice the national average of deaths following a major surgery than other hospitals of this size so I think it is safe to say that if your problem is big or small you should look for a different place to get better wait times and quality of service you can count on.
I took my husband to Emergency at Ross Memorial this week in excruciating pain and they took him in right away. The triage nurse was able to tell us what she thought was going on and it turned out she was right. They treated him immediately with pain medication and sent him for a CT scan which confirmed the triage nurse’s “diagnosis”. Everyone from the nurses to the doctor were wonderful! Very friendly, knowledgeable, caring and concerned. The reason for only 4 stars and not 5 is because the CT scan result was written up as a 1 mm kidney stone but as we were driving away from the hospital the doctor phoned us to let us know there had been an error in the report. It was a 10mm stone, not a 1 mm stone.
There good for serton things if some one needs more special care this is not place staff can be good depending on the shift
Go back
I attended Ross Memorial Hospital on Sunday September 27th and September 28th due to a gall bladder attack. I was so impressed with the quality of care and compassion shown to me by the nurses, doctors and technicians. Even though the ER was so busy with trauma patients, they still had time to ask me not once but 3 times if I was ok!!!! I was so shocked as I never had this happen to me before. I would recommend this hospital to anyone. Thank you so much for taking such good care of me.
waits long line and the hospital doesn't care for you. I broke my spine in two place and was almost paralyzed the hospital didn't care much and made us wait 1 and a half hours. Instead my friend drove me to Peterborough hospital and we were served right away. Even tho they had a long line as-well they knew what they were doing and cared for the emergency patients first.
Been waiting here for 2 hours my friend need to get stitched up. Have not seen anyone gone into get treated. Apparently the doc's not in yet, first time hearing an emergency ward doesn't have a doctor in. Not sure why the wards even open. There a guy with a nail in his finger, been here for almost 6 hours still hasn't been treated yet, not sure how long we are going to be here till... I probably go somewhere else if it's an emergency!!! Lesson learned!
Wouldn’t even send my dying dog there . No one has any idea what’s going on
I was in Ross Memorial in September 2020 for a knee replacement and found the nursing staff without exception to be caring and empathetic. I have been in Markham and can truly say my experience at Ross was exceptional. Thank you
Took my daughter in and from start to finish had a horrible experience. It started at triage when the nurse seemed annoyed at us for being there because she had been rushed by ambulance to another hospital that did nothing for her. After being signed in we were sent to the waiting room where we witnessed the nurse being very rude to the volunteer who was trying to help. The wait was not long before we were moved to a room and able to see a doctor. The doctor had the nerve to talk down to my daughter basically telling here there was nothing wrong with her and lectured her about her choices (she is 18) gave her an anti nausea pill something for her pain put in a referal for an ultrasound and told us to go.2 hospitals and no one will take her seriously... think it migjt be time to take her to Toronto
I won't go into a long story but suffice to say the worst hospital ever experienced. Most do not know what they are doing, cannot provide the correct diagnosis and treatment. There are a few doctors who seem to care but only after such bad treatment that the patient ends up in ICU, by then it's too late. These doctors do not deserve any special recognition as they were just doing the job they are getting paid to do. The third floor nurses for the most part are far too busy gossiping, sitting around and doing paper work, they do not nurse anyone unless you are finally on your death bed. Very poor communication, be extremely careful dealing with this hospital, please go anywhere but here. Or at the very least keep a journal of everything. They do not care about senior's at all and guess what Lindsay is full of them. Oh and by the way, lodging a formal complaint does absolutely nothing at all.
Great peeps
19 people in the waiting room. Nobody screening the door. 2.5 hours and I walked out like 8 others before me. Poor elderly woman was waiting SINCE 3 for her husband. This is at 840pm . Still in pain on my way to coburg hospital. DONT GO HERE!!
Only One visitor allowed at this point? Come on now. I feel horrible for the people who were in hospital during covid. However people are vaccinated now and cases are way down. Time to change the policy. This is not a government mandate. Every health unit makes their own policies. Why is this one so restrictive?
they gave me ligma
0.01/5 Do not go to Ross Memorial Hospital for issues concerning mental health. They do not care for the emotional or mental state of their patients. Their main focus is being very arrogant about their titles and continuously bring them up throughout meetings. They are not willing to help you achieve a better understanding of your mental health. Even if you've been suffering from depression and anxiety for many years it will take the psychologist less than 5 minutes to decide he knows whats best disregarding the opinion of any previous doctor, psychologist or counselor you have seen with his sole reasoning being "because I am i psychologist". Very poor service. EXTREMELY disappointed especially with how open and aware mental health is in Canada. Our health care being free is not an excuse in any way, shape or form to neglect your patients.
I was rushed into Ross Memorial Hospital at approximately 3:30 am Monday morning in severe respiratory distress. From the time I entered the hospital to the time I was discharged I was treated with respect and professionalism from the paramedics to the nurses, doctors and technicians. Everyone was very attuned to my discomfort and made wvery effortOut side my discomfort from the lung infection my stay at Ross Memorial was a pleasant one. Three thumbs up!!!!!
I sent to Lindsay hospital on June 6 the 2021 one nurse her name was Linda look after me went out of her way to do things thank you
Worse hospital ever
Came here during the holidays because our son (two years old) is sick and his family doctor couldn’t see him until next week. Was told 4 hour wait time, it’s now approaching 5 hours. My kid has fallen asleep twice while coughing and struggling with his illness. What a horrible hospital. Starting to regret moving to Lindsay. How can you feel safe raising a family in this town if you can’t get quick and prompt attention from the biggest hospital in the area? I’d expect this long of a wait from a busy big city hospital like in Toronto, but from a small town? Are you kidding? Shape up. Make an exception and triage small children first. How incompetent!
Would not go there I would give a 0 if I could
Honestly just lay in your bed and puke. Better then sitting in this hospital for 8 hours. All I needed was a strep test. 5 min process.
Service is going downhill! Seen people with rashes come and go in the ER and people with real injuries and complaints, visibly ill people still waiting to see a Doctor! So sad, clean up your act Ross!
Good health care provider
My husband suffered a heart attack and was rushed to Ross Memorial. Not from the area, I didn't know what sort medical care he could expect to get. The Dr.s and nursing staff in Emergency and ICU were outstanding. They were both professional and caring. He received the best care possible to keep him stable until he was transferred to the Peterborough hospital for surgery. My husband is home and doing great. Thanks Ross Memorial hospital!
Absolutly the WORST service iv ever had!! sat with a 6 month old with borderline whooping cough for 6 hours!! Still sitting here haven't seen a soul! Another woman beside me crying in agony for at least 20mins....absolutely nothing has been done! If your looking for medical care this is NOT the place for it. You would have better luck getting diagnosed by a Walmart physician and treat yourself!! Hands down the shittiest hospital iv been to and will NEVER return to. Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else even if its further!
I split my face open and bleeding out and they wont help me out all I needed was some stitching
I will drive to cobourg hospital before ever going to this covid assessment center again. They had all of us being tested in the same room at the same time, nurses didn't change gloves or any other PPE before switching patients. Cobourg only allows ONE patient in at a time for testing. One nurse was walking around with an OPEN swab kit waiting to use it, in my opinion I would rather it be sealed until you are ready to stick it up my nose. Felt dirty coming out of there.
Waiting in the exam room for almost 2hrs. An hour out in the waiting room before that. At least it's entertaining listening to the Dr and nurses swapping stories about why they are late to work said no one ever. Still waiting to be seen. I wouldn't even give one star except I have to so I can post this.
Was admitted at by8 and still waiting at 1:30 In the afternoon just to have an absess cleaned! Crazy terrible service here ! Would recommend anyone needing any kind of medical assistance should probably consider bomanville or Peterborough think would b a much better option for them!
This is unbelievable!! Went in not feeling well sleeping and fatigue not eating.. Waited 3 hours to find out 8 people were still ahead of me. They were only taking 1-2 an hours. Watched two people that came in talk to someone they know who works there and they were right in...i had to leave as I was startup to feel sick I needed to lay down. Will this hospital ever change????????? on top of all this yep a parking ticket.????????
Wonderful staff so caring and dedicated to helping you get better
