You must have seen that it reaches an feddbacks average is good, and it's founded on a very large number of reviews, so we can be pretty sure that the rating is quite faithful. If there are many people who bothered to evaluate when they've done well with the business, it works.
You know that we don't usually bother to write tatings when they are good and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Psychiatrist belongs to the category of Family counselor.
Awesome nice polite staff. Professional and always greeted with a warm welcome.
I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to do my practicum during my Masters and some extra hours post graduation with Cornerstone. I created such amazing relationships with my coworkers and mentors, which I'll cherish for years to come. I'm so thankful for the growth I developed here, thanks to this organization! Definitely a place worth going to if you want to work OR receive counselling.
I met with Amanda for an information session two months ago. She was really helpful. Will definitely recommend this place. Thank you :)
This is a CULT RECRUITMENT CENTRE. Praying on people who feel lost and alone. The first few sessions seem normal enough to draw you in and then they drop the Scientology/Avatar/etc. stuff and encourage you to join that Edmonton cult where everyone just stares at that old white man in silence for hours. DO NOT GO HERE. Extremely manipulative, unprofessional and deceiving. I cannot stress this enough. 0/5
I'm helping a friend and this supervisor from cornerstone gave us the wrong information about the cost, so maybe next time give us a call to explain what happen so we are not going to be suprise and dont tell us again that she was tired that day thats why she made a mistake coz it sounds so irresponsible, inconvenience people!!!you cannot even make it right!!!
I don't know that I've ever posted a negative review on Google before, and I'm sad that to feel compelled to do so now, especially with respect to a counselling office, as I am a huge proponent of therapy. I would preface by saying that my review is not of all of Cornerstone's Psychologists, and that it is focused on the specific Provisional Psychologist I met with, as well as the Administration Staff. I was assigned to a Provisional Psychologist as I was a student and this option was less expensive. Due to several recent events in my life, I was in really bad shape, and perhaps I didn't communicate clear enough to the Administration Staff just how desperate I was feeling, and that perhaps a provisional student psychologist wasn't appropriate given my circumstances. Having been diagnosed over 10 years ago as a major depressive, I have lots of experience with psychologists, so I feel as though I have adequare knowledge and experience to be able to post a fair review. I have never had such a poor session with a psychologist. Ever. This girl asked probing and painful questions, which is fair. But that was literally it - She offered no solace, support, strategies or coping mechanisms, nor did she offer any kind of plan for the future for us to conqur these issues. She asked me questions for an hour, from which I was in tears, and then sent me on my way. The largest sentence she strung together during the hour was "That must be hard for you". I honestly left much worse off than I went in. I didn't leave feeling optimistic or supported. Then perhaps a month later, I received an email asking me to review my experience and fill out a survey online, so I did. The last question of the survey was something like "Would you be willing to be contacted regarding your experience?" and I said "Yes", why not. The next day, a member of the Administration Staff called me because she said I had clicked in the survey that I wanted to be contacted, and so she was asking me what I wanted to be contacted about. I explained that no - it asked if I was willing to be contacted regarding my review. Her response was basically "Well if you don't need anything, have a nice day". It honestly made me even more angry - it was total indifference, even AFTER i had told them how terrible my experience had been. 0/5 stars.
They have been incredibly patient with me as I’m working my way through a number of emotional and mental health issues. I’m grateful for all of the support Cornerstone Counselling is willing to provide.
Therapy at Cornerstone has changed my life. They can help you with anything, it doesn't matter what are you struggling with. I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for my therapist. Thank you!!!
I have met with the team here and am impressed by the professionalism.
I have found the staff at Cornerstone to be of the utmost professionalism. The receptionists are friendly and know what they are doing. My counselor, Jenn, is phenomenal. I am very fortunate that I clicked with her immediately. She has helped me through some very difficult things, and we continue to work together for my healing. In my mind, the money I spend is well worth it. I shudder to think of where I might be today if not for the support of Cornerstone.
Amanda was wonderful to work with! She helped ease our worries from the first time we met with her, on the first day of this semester, when we had no clue about the project we were doing for Cornerstone Counselling. She treated us as colleagues and I did not recognize any uneven power dynamics. Unfortunately, due to Covid, we were unable to schedule a tour of Cornerstone Counselling or meet Amanda in person, as we had hoped to, however I am thankful for the informal chit-chat we did have when meeting with her virtually. She was very empathetic to our situation as students during a global pandemic, and she made made us feel like valuable contributors/consultants to Cornerstone Counselling!
Why do 211 resources say that this is a free counselling when it’s simply NOT. There is no support that provides free support. Expect to pay $200.00
In my experience with Cornerstone they approach clients with positivity and patience! I have been working with Cornerstone on projects designed to help accessibility to mental health care. I value how forward thinking and community oriented they are.
I have never been so attacked by 2 'professionals' in my entire life. My child had been abused by a step parent and they thought me saying NO to having my child re introduced to the abusive step parent was too harsh. It is a parents job to protect their children. Having them side with their "client" and not have the child's best interest at heart. The child has stated that on many occasions that she does not want to see the abuser 'even for one minute' should be taken seriously. I will NEVER recommend them to anyone. I, as the mother, will find another therapist who's primary concern is for the child and their well being. Visit this counseling center at your own peril.
Amazing team, very friendly and professional, I highly recommend!
I thoroughly enjoyed my summer/student job at Cornerstone Counselling. After working at Cornerstone, I truly grew to admire the impact counseling has on others' lives. I learned a lot from the variety of projects that were provided to me and believe they will be beneficial for my future career aspirations. The staff were very friendly, professional and done a great job at communicating remotely. I would highly recommend Cornerstone to potential clients seeking therapy and candidates for employment.
Cornerstone is a great place to get help and support. They have counsellors from different counselling perspectives with lots of expertise. They make an effort to find a good match for their clients. They are also one of the very few places where you can see a student counsellor for $20. Also, their marriage preparation course is excellent!
Thank you on behalf of a friend.
We had a couples counselling session with Jennifer Chow today, she encouraged my partners abusive anger issues by telling him that he is allowed to feel that way. That resulted in him refusing to seek help for his anger issues and using what Jennifer said as an excuse for his actions. None the less, we ended up parting ways.
I have enjoyed every interaction I have had with the cornerstone team. This organization goes above and beyond to make mental health accessible while maintaining a expert team of counsellors. The fundraising events are fun, informative, and very interesting. Cornerstone creates an inclusive space for all to discuss and learn about mental health.
Receptionists at the front are extremely unprofessional. The first thing they ask people BEFORE even saying hello, how are you? is How are you paying today? I have never been to a medical office where they ask to pay for service up front. They knew we had insurance too lol. We went to see Dr. Marlis Myer. She was adequate until the 50 minutes were up. About 2 minutes before a big issue was brought up that caused us to start a heated discussion. Dr. Myer meanwhile got up opened the door and basically said that it is a good topic to discuss. It was our initial session and after that we felt very discouraged to talk to each other, or to continue therapy. I don't think cutting people off in the middle of a discussion just because you're dying to get out of your office is professional. Anyway, we are continuing therapy, but we are never going back to this place again. $190 for unprofessional staff is just not worth it.
I am truly thankful for my experience with cornerstone counselling with the therapist and receptionist (helpful, professional and friendly). I was in hopeless and very heavy place - the journey goes on at different levels and I am really thankful for the sessions, how I was able to gain tools and work through it. Thank you so much for being there.
Total waste of time and money.
I have been affiliated with Cornerstone for about two years and am honored to know them. Sheila and her team are compassionate, knowledgeable, supportive, generous, kind and go above and beyond to assist all those in need. It was a pleasure working with Cornerstone Counselling over the summer. The staff at Cornerstone Counselling are extremely professional and truly care about their clients and staff. Cornerstone Counselling puts the utmost effort in ensuring that their clients and staff feel welcomed and taken care of at all times. I would highly recommend Cornerstone Counselling for those seeking professional counselling services or employment.
Cornerstone counselling is a great counselling centre! Their fundraisers are always a blast, and the PR rep, Amanda, always answers questions promptly and is very friendly. The whole staff works towards the best interest of their clients, and they are available to help anyone regardless of their financial situations.
Amazing place of healing, Dr Meyer is amazing, kind, compassionate and patient. Thank you so much for helping me in my journey.
Best place in the world They helped me get better with open arms
I communicated with Amanda as she was our community partner through a group project for school. Communicating with Amanda was very easy as she was very open to our ideas. Upon meeting we were able to present what we had at that time and she was very encouraging. She was also very accommodating as she was able to meet whenever we proposed. Overall, it was a great experience and I hope I am able to work with Amanda again in the future.
Councillor who blinked alot. Can't remember name. Terrible. 2 sessions in and he's jumping on spouse's side. Encouraging the belief everything was my fault. Get personally involved and biased.
Sheila. E was absolutely amazing to work with, I couldn’t be more satisfied. I’ve avoided therapy for about a decade and I came to cornerstone a bit sceptical about the process. However, thanks to her knowledge of the industry and in cultural influences, I was able to breakthrough some of the toughest scenarios I’ve painfully lived with for years. She was able to communicate the hard stuff in a thoughtful way. My level of awareness is much better and I feel like myself again. Thanks Sheila and thanks Cornerstone. My journey continues, this has been a memorable experience! -A
I highly recommend reaching out to Cornerstone Counselling if you are looking for a supportive, empowering relationship to help you navigate the ups, downs, and transitions of life. The staff are amazing - inclusive, warm, and inviting. Their sliding scale payment options are helpful and make their services more accessible and I love that their Counsellors have a variety of specializations.
Mental health has never been more important. Cornerstone Counselling is an incredible organization providing counselling services that are affordable and accessible, a staple in this day and age. They have a wonderfully warm team that is supportive and truly care. I have and will continue to recommend their services.
Although I am pleased that this company offers a sliding scale rate for lower income families, I don't think the full extent of their policy is fair. In the middle of a pandemic, when the economy is crashing and people are struggling just to buy groceries, a company should not be considering government assistance payments as a source of reliable income for calculating rates. Those government payments are temporary, and for some people, it's all they have. Of course I do understand that they are a business and need to turn a profit to continue operating. However, I don't know a single person who can afford $200 for therapy right now, but every single person I know NEEDS therapy right now. I gave 4 stars because I greatly appreciate that their staff is friendly, reliable, and they work quickly to get meetings scheduled. :)
I can't remember the name of the lady counsellor, but she was definitely over 50, maybe over 60. It was a total waste of my money. I explained my problems and I was there with my common law husband. Her sarcastic response was "Well, what do you want me to do about it?" I was there to try and save my relationship and I get this psychologist who was only there to collect a pay cheque.
I was able to access the care I needed easily with the help of Cornerstone Counselling's sliding scale about a year ago and had several sessions with a lovely and very helpful provisional psychologist. My counsellor made a lasting impact on my life and I often think I'd like to see her again but I simply can't afford to see her now that she is a full psychologist. However, I'm glad that she is successful in becoming a psychologist, thank her, and wish her all the best.
