Sitting for long periods at my desk working on a computer took a terrible toll on my back and arms. I needed some relief so I started looking. I first tried a chiropractor and I thought that it was OK (but I was new to this and didn't know any better), but like most chiropractic treatments, I felt better for a couple hours after, but went back to feeling discomfort the next day.
I gave up on chiropractic attempts at relief after a year or so and decided that I needed to find something else. Looking back, I was very glad I made that decision as I found out that all those quick jolts to my spine and neck were worse for my body then what I had originally gone in for. I received a bit of a scare when a few years after I stopped going for "spine crunching", I heard about a lady who had a stroke after getting a neck adjustment from a local chiropractor.
A friend recommended acupuncture so I thought I'd give it a shot. I tried a few sessions, but didn't really notice any difference at all. The acupuncturist couldn't explain it, but I guess that type of treatment just didn't work on me.
Frustrated that I wasn't seeing any change (except to my wallet), I thought I would try massage therapy next. When I first began looking for a massage therapist, I went from one therapist to another looking for a treatment that wasn't just for relaxation, but one that had long term results. The massages felt better than anything I've tried before (definitely better than chiropractic or acupuncture), but I needed one that made a difference beyond the day of the treatment.
I then discovered Aligned Right Massage and it was definitely different than any massage treatment I have ever had. It was a (very) deep tissue treatment combined with active stretching, which meant that it was a treatment that would actually make a difference with my body, which is EXACTLY what I was looking for! I was also taught stretching techniques that I could perform daily to improve my posture and avoid discomfort. I knew I was really sold when I found out that the spine can be realigned (just like a chiropractor) through massage therapy without the same jarring and jolting (although it takes longer, it is much easier on the body).
This may seem like a lengthy review, but if I can save someone else the time and money that I wasted trying to find a good solution to my back problems, it will be worth it. I know that I wish I had this information available to me years ago. I have been going to see Eroca at Aligned Right regularly for over six years for massages. I’m not sure what I would do without them.
