maples survivor 82-87 that place was a living hell and the gov of BC is covering it up with out closing it DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS THERE or don't expect love from your kids after ever again

the best staff members at response are rebecca shes too happy plus she dosent talk to u and julia s she took me too walmart and mc ds and she gave me ice cream she just gave birth oh the miracle of life and alex he is always triggeredddd and he makes u juice and bagels then he will try to eat it dont let him and julia she is sooo grumpy at first but then she will tuck u into bed witch is nice and shes like one of my favourites i love her and Eleni shes a nurse and shes old plus all she wears is hoodies all the time lol crystal is the besssst teacherr she let me make tye dye and slime then i did soo much i couldnt do any more really sad i knoww i got room 8 and whoever gets that room i hope u get crucified and die literly anyway adam is mean he left me on the hyway ryans dad jokes suck btw sorry ryan and matt he made me cry how rude but hes ok again high on the list but not top i get to do really fun activities like movies and stuff amanda will make u grilled cheese but the food is Narsty otherwise and tanya is soo nice she wakes u up bye being nice aand quiet unlike julia she will turn on the lights and open ur blinds then u can scream at her same with matt he will bang on ur door and yell at u janice is the bestttttttt staff at admin she made me cookies when i had my care plan i lovee u janicee and tony is awesome christian in science he has a turtle it scares me but beans is awesone the best bunny ever in humanitys. rebeccy made me really sad because she didnt really try to spend time with me thast hurtttttt me soo i cryed i was really upset once and i was crying she knew and she went to a different kid anyway and then i wanted julia cause i was still crying and guess who she went to first the other kiddddd they need to work on relationships more just because she was doing nursing stuff she didnt hang out with me meredeath i didnt like her at first cause she went to someone who i had a fight with i was physically hurt and mentally SCAREDD she ok

Beware if you’re vegetarian, vegan, or have any food allergies. The chef doesn’t make any alternate meals so if dinner’s chicken pot pie, you end up eating leftovers or fending for yourself multiple nights in a row. Sometimes the unit’s staff will go out of their way to accommodate with meals, but that’s not their job and they shouldn’t have to do that. I’ve been to maples twice now and both times my experience with the meals have been horrible. In the old building I would often be given boiled, flavourless tofu as a substitute. And at the riverview site I was once served a tray full of mashed potatoes and nothing else as my meal while everyone else got shepherds pie. I have had a good experience there overall but the food options need to get better. Hopefully this’ll get someone’s attention so your experience will be better.

Best place ever!!! I went to 2 of the programs there and ended up going back every 3 months for 3-4 years! I miss it so much. I still call them to talk! They changed my life. I love the staff I love the friends I have made and I love how strong they helped me to become. I loved spending my first month there and when I was able to stay for 4 full months i was beyond happy! I’ll never forget the impact they had on me! It all the memories or the inside jokes me and some staff members gave! Don’t listen to the bad reviews!!! They have may feel that what but the maples helps youth so much. The only part I ever hated was leaving on the last day of my stay. I wish I could go back in time and relive those years

This poor excuse for a treatment facility needs to be independently reviewed. I would say it needs to be permanently closed, but that would leave many people without mental health services. Avoid if at all possible.

It is the best place I've been too. It has helped so much and I still have one more return if not more. The staff are amazing mandie is an extraordinary person she is personally one of the best staff. Thank maples for my stay cant wait to come back

I work on the property and was walking my dog during my break (as I do every day), a staff member from Maples approached me in a very aggressive and threatening way asking me to "go back to wherever I came from" with no context as to why I was even there. I feel this situation should have been handled in a polite and non-threatening way by someone who is trained with the proper violence prevention that this job requires.

I loved my stay at maples.. the staff was hilarious and fun to be around. Its a really good program the staff aren’t just there cause it’s their job you can truly tell they care.. I felt like people were finally understanding and listening to what I had to say. Going to maples made me want and believe I could have a future.. I don’t think anyone else could have done that for me back then.. so to all the incredible people i met.. thanks..

It has been 36 years since I was at Maples in cottage 2 . The memories are both good and bittersweet I think of those who shared our time there together and wondered what happened to you all The staff was were very good with us I remember the might of the fire and they had to move us in the middle of night it could have gone very wrong but they kept us calm and were able to get things back together in no time .???? If any of you are out drop me a line I miss you Gemma,Kerri,Kerry Leigh mark jeff Todd ???? And would really love to hear from my case worker Donna of course no last but it was 36 years ago you came to that fashion show with my mom Thank you for all your help Just so you know I am the girl who tried to hang herself at maples and as you see I am just fine not a ghost

it's great! really don't listen to the bad reviews. no one has ever hung themselves or even attempted to here. i talked to a staff member who has worked here for a very long time and she said it's never happened. but what makes the maples great is their very friendly staff, fantastic school program , unfortunately no pool anymore but a great gym filled with fun stuff to do, weight room, outings, educational aboriginal group, helpful skills group, and cute animals (in harps and julies class!). in addition to all that, most staff are conveniently available a lot of the time, they have many books to take back to your room to read, and they encourage you to learn by not pressuring you into doing your homework. they accept learning in every way, shape or form. that includes just sitting there reading in humanities, just feeding the turtle in science, or simply stretching your legs for recreation. don't worry, they still give you work, though! all teachers are helpful, supportive, and accepting of your education level and the pace you learn at. they truly want the best for you and to help you learn. as well as the staff! oh and shoutout to Laura for being so fun and upbeat. i loved playing badminton with you in the gym! i had the time of my life! oh and andrea for being so cool and relaxed. and esther for being so sweet. and sarah for being so so awesome! i love maples!

An absolutely phenomenal atmosphere to be In. The staff are all very unique, friendly and free spirited individuals who made my stay at the maples a memorable experience. If I had the chance to go back I would take it in a heart beat !

this place is pretty cool i recommend bringing your own towel and pillow i had a lot fun with Tanya and sweet Caroline i enjoyed my stay and the weekend staff were pretty cool.
