Watch out for Dr. Jay, he can be abusive in a legal way and don't think because you're a nice person that he won't do it to you.

I have been very hesitant to write this review because it was only until recently did I receive demeaning care. I have been coming here for almost 10 years. The office has gone through many changes in the last 5 years from structure and staff turnover. I have received excellent help from these wonderful people Dr. Ferris, Dr. Macavoy and Dr. Macalhan to name a few. Until recently I was transferred to Dr. Jay. At that time the change in my circumstances required more medical advice. The doctors prior have managed to help me keep stable for years. But at that point when I needed advise Dr. Jay reprimanded me and made me feel like a lab rat rather than a person. He seemed more interested in the outcome of alternative ways I was trying rather then for my well being. At the very end he made me cry and told me he had no time for me and basically said I will not get anywhere. With my experiences with about 6 different psychiatrist, 6 different personality's, 6 different bedside manners I was able to work with different doctors to remain healthy and stable, until Dr. Jay. I know your health is in your own control, but you also need a caring doctor with a gracious bedside manner to work with. I highly suggest anyone seeking help, to find any other doctor than Dr. Jay. I highly recommend South/North Delta mental health to reconsider their new structure and seriously consider going back to the older system where doctors stay with patients longer than 3 months. It not a enough time to build a reliable relationship and get proper care and stability.

Unbelievable service! People come to this place looking for help, and are unable to receive proper treatment from some of the staff. Any time spent with Dr. Jordan is spent trying to defend yourself. He not only contradicts how YOU say YOU feel; He treats you like nothing but a chore. It is completely unnacceptable the way he treats his clients. Get rid of him before he can impact anyone else in such a negative way.

I currently have a complaint filed against Dr. Jay with the College of Physicians and Surgeons for malpractice. Please do not see this man. Anyone else will do less harm. The emergency room is the place to go with concerns if you want help. This man will punish you, act condescending, lie and make dismissive and ableist comments. He is a dangerous person to have in charge of our communities most vulnerable! BEWARE!

I was a patient at South mental health team for many years and followed by Dr. McLaughlin he was an excellent doctor and was very helpful with my mental health I then was transferred to Dr. Jay who was abusive, disrespectful and arrogant. I had told him that I wasn’t doing very well and he told me that I would just have to get over that. He also said that I’ve been tried on other medications and he wasn’t about to try anything new. During a prior appointment he actually told me to get out of the office. Because I was not doing so well at that time I did not have the ability to challenge his remarks. He is very arrogant and unkind and should not be in the field of psychiatry. I am truly amazed that he is still there. I meditate exercise take good care of myself and still was struggling with my depression and he was not willing to help me in any manner. I now have a psychiatrist who treats me with respect and is willing to try different options.

Reception staff unwelcoming, Got referred to counsellor by my family doctor, was super unsupportaive and imposed his views , leaving me feel belittled and worthless, went to get help with weaning off my antidepressants and ended up leaving with an addiction services sheet for unrelated issues, barely discussed my mental health at all This place is deffinately behind the times and I do not reccomend if you plan on seeking help :( I've left both appointments in tears and do not plan on returning.

I am an adult on the autism spectrum who struggles with my mental health (as is very common for many of us), and Dr. Jay straight up told me that he didn't believe I 'fit the criteria' for ASD (despite having multiple documented assessments and diagnoses) because I... experience loneliness and I have friends? Dangerously ignorant, especially in such a small area where transferring to a new practitioner is a pretty lengthy process.
